This is a massage parlor not a torture chamber. A good masseuse can feel the knots & tightness and work the kinks out. I asked for a hand and foot massage and repeatedly the male masseuse precariously touched my armpit, then above my boobs, and then finally my side boobs from above my head with both hands. I grabbed his hands suddenly in astonishment and instincts, and I got very angry--he just laughed it off. Not the first incident - my girlfriend had a table massage (shirt off) and the male masseuse handed her his phone number afterward and ask her to call him. DISGUSTING!! And possibly harassment. This store could have a sexual assault law suit on their hands eventually if they don't fix the culture here. Stick with female-only therapists - they are indeed terrific. I had the 60 minute foot and body massage combo advertised on the window. I arrived at 8:30pm on a Friday and they still took me even though they closed at 9pm. It was nice and relaxing, although they do talk quite a bit to the other staff in another language during the service, but overall it was nice and I plan to go back. read more

This is just my updated review. This place has gone downhill. The tips have increased to at minimum $10. The massages are a hit or miss sometimes (mainly miss). I enjoy very intense massages but it's sometimes unenjoyable where the masseurs are practically punishing you with their elbows. I needed this for such a long time now. My back my muscles everything was so stiff. Poor guy who had to masaage me probably had a hard time lol. Here's a liat of things to know before you go 1st off its all clothes on kinda place coz i know there are several kinds of massage places. 2nd its a common room with individial beds. 3rd you have to call in for an appointment. 4th everybody is wearing a mask. Now for the massage itself. It waa really good. For me my massages always hurt because of my muscles but it feels good afterwards. But i do prefer the massages wigh the hotstone ones. I won't be coming back here, although, I've been to the Niles location several times over the past few years. This week, they charged me $60 for one hour of massaging my feet and calves ONLY. This was not what I asked for. They don't even offer that. Furthermore, this was $25 more than I paid a few months ago. They never had me turn over, so they never touched my hands, arms, shoulders, neck, head or back. At all. It was my worst experience of any foot spa or massage place I've ever been to. And I've been to a lot! When I was checking out at the end and I questioned them about the $60 charge and only doing my feet, they kept pointing to the service they gave me on the menu, which looked like it was $60 for 75 minutes and I only got a 60-minute service. And every single service on their menu included a back massage. I pointed this out to them, and the woman who gave me the massage didn't seem to understand what I was saying. I don't know why I tipped at all, but I tipped $5. Usually, I always tip decently. Then the lady who gave me the massage was upset and pointed to a tip sheet that showed I should tip at least $10. She asked me if I wasn't happy. I told her again I wasn't happy. She called over someone else who worked there about my undertipping. Perhaps to yell at me or shame me?! I told him she never turned me over or touched my back or shoulders. He walked away and didn't say anything. There may have been a language issue, but they seemed to understand some English when they wanted to. The woman who was checking me out also said I got a $5 automatic coupon, which I don't think I got either. Like all the other people who have given me a massage, she talked during the massage. This never happens in other foot spas either. I find it rude but I try to ignore it. Although, I probably would go more often and tip more if they didn't do that. I swore not to do this again But the $30 price for head neck shoulder back and foot massage was too tempting to pass on. In addition it was recommended by my oldest client. The good- head neck shoulders and foot was superb almost as good as my preferred masseuse Maya. Their methods was similar as her but I'm thinking for only $30. Maya is $90(see my very first review). The bad - I basically whimpered like a baby when she was putting pressure on my shoulder blades. I literally had to tap for her to take it easy and only then just enough for me not to cry uncle. So why 4 Stars- well I figured she was doing what she had to do to relieve the stress in my body. The problem is there is no scale of firmness it's either full throttle or just below it. Would I go back - No. However some one with a higher tolerance for pain might find this just right. I know I'm a baby when it comes to this. read more

Used to come here pretty often (Des Plaines location) and the massages were good, but lately the service is just not worth it even for the unbeatable price. Last time I was there, 3 different people switched during my massage. The masseuses also talk during the massage, so it's not as relaxing as it could be. I have frequented this spot at least once a month for the past 2 years. I normally get their 60min Jia (head-to-toe) Special, which I would recommend for everyone to try, and it's very affordable at $30. Today I decided to change it up and tried their 30min hot stone table massage. I was in pure heaven while laying on that massage table. With multiple hot stones placed on my body, all the tension and stress was massaged right out of me, especially from my lower back. The staff here is always super polite and courteous. There are four locations - two in Glenview, Niles & DesPlaines. I visited Niles for the $35 60 minute Jia Special - 30 minute foot bath & massage and 30 minute head, neck, shoulder & back massage (you will be clothed). This is a deep tissue massage - almost painful at times but feels great after! Wonderful for plantar fasciitis - the foot tubs have spike bottoms similar to my foot massage balls. The foot bath and massage help to relieve my pain. Not much English spoken at this location. There are massage beds lined up next to one another with the top translucent fabric on the bed replaced between each customer use. Best to bring nothing in with you (but bins are provided at top of each bed for coats, sweaters, etc.). Wear a sleeveless shirt for better neck and arm massage. Make sure you can roll up your slacks. Not the most posh place but for a 60 minute massage at $35 it works for me. read more

Today was my first visit to Jia and it definitely won't be my last. I'll start by saying if you're looking for a regular massage to work out kinks, this is not the place for you. This massage is based on reflexology. When we arrived (forgot to call ahead!), there was a 30-minute wait. This wasn't a problem but I was disappointed in the waiting area as there were only three folding chairs and they were all taken. Once it was time for our massages, we went into the main area. It is a large room with the lights dimmed and about 6 beds with soft music playing. You start off laying down with your feet off the edge soaking in water. You are covered with a towel (fully clothed of course) and a cloth over your head. First, they will work on your face, head, neck, etc. After that they dry off your feet and move onto the foot/leg massage. Finally, you turn over onto your stomach and they work on your back. Personally, this was my favorite part. He had a good pressure and did lots of stretching with my arms. The best part of this hour-long massage? It was only $29! You seriously can't beat that deal. Plus you get a punch card and, after 10 massages, you get a free massage. I will definitely be back. If you haven't been here yet, you're missing out! read more

I don't have a problem with that, as their massage skills are fantastic. And I can always use hand gestures to communicate with them. Unique set-up. $29 for an hour long massage though. It's a large room with about 8 massage chairs. Although it's not private it doesn't really need to be because you keep your clothes on and everyone has a towel over their eyes for relaxation. When you get there you are greeted with big smiles, even though not everyone speaks English. Once you lay down they bring a big bucket of tea for you to soak your feet in. Weird I know, but feels great. While your feet are soaking they start off with a head massage then move on to your arms and hands. Eventually you get a 30 minute foot and leg massage before you turn over and they massage your neck, back and shoulders. It's amazing! You won't want to leave, every muscle will be relaxed. Fair warning, chances are your hair will be a total mess from the head massage so don't plan on going anywhere afterwards! Call ahead to make an appointment with either Mary or Mark. This was not a tranquil place to have a foot massage. I was looking forward to zoning out and relaxing. That didn't happen. The website doesn't say anything about needing to make an appointment but i was asked if i had one when i walked in and made to feel like a dumbass when i said no. Like another reviewer mentioned, they didn't honor one of the deals on their website. I wanted the 90 minutes for $45. He said they weren't offering it today. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and guessed they weren't honoring it because it was so busy and they didn't want to tie up the space for an additional 30 minutes. I would suggest that if they are going o do that then put a disclaimer on the website that states under which circumstances that offer is not offered. If the offer is just a lie to get folks in the door then they need to take it off the website or else people are going to continue to give bad reviews in consideration of this. The room is small and the light from the front window is poorly masked by a panel that covers one portion of the row of chairs where the customer are getting their massages. The technicians talked to each other the whole time and some were giggling. For the first portion of the massage I was lie down on my back with my feet in a bucket. The chair was laid out flat and lacked back support. My lower back was in pain. These are horrible chairs. My original technician backed out a quarter of the way in and then someone else took over. She was great. She really got into some tight spots and continually checked in to see of the pressure was ok. She also streched me out in some funky, but well worth it, psotions. one thing that was weird: she unhooked my bra without my permission. read more

What really gets me mad is that this lady took her sweet time to type in google translate to tell me "you didnt tip last time". besides the fact that I always tip, you are not entitled to a tip. this place needs to stop demanding tips. If I could put a 0 I would. I have been here before for a massage and it was pretty good however the other night my bf and I got the WORST massages. First off the table/sheets smelled bad. The masseuses were talking and arguing the whole time very loudly the whole massage. The lotion was cheap for an over $100 massage it clogged my pores, was itchy, and left me with a bad breakout on my back. It was freezing in there and I felt they treated me like my body was nothing not even closing the curtain while I remove my shirt which there are curtains. When I complained they acted annoyed with me and began arguing loudly. I even complained to the man checking me out who I'm assuming was the boss? He just said oh. Will never go back. Not how you treat customers you can tell the difference in somewhere that truly cares and somewhere that just wants your $$$. I made an appointment for Mother's Day to treat myself about a 4 days in advance. When I arrived and tried to check in, one of the therapists came over and said sorry we're full and told me to come back in an hour! I said I had made an appointment and he didn't seem to care or check. He sort of apologized but it didn't seem sincere. What's the point of making a reservation? What a ridiculous waste of time. They refused to honor the 90 minute deal that was advertised (with NO expiration date listed) even though I had a copy of the ad with me. I called and made a 10:30 appointment for a 90 minute treatment. The flyer clearly stated "Clients choice of body or foot time". I wanted 60 min body and 30 min feet. We set the appointment. The next morning I had an emergency and realized I might be running a few minutes late. I called before they opened and moved the appointment to 10:45. I arrived at 10:32. No one greeted me as they were all working, which was fine. I sat down in an uncomfortable metal folding chair next to a boom box playing loudly (making it hard to read while I waited) in the hot glaring sun. It wasn't until 11 AM that someone came and waved me back and went to start the treatment without asking what I wanted, so I asked for 60 min body and 30 min feet. She looked very confused and went to get a price menu. I saw the special on it for 90 minutes and pointed to it. Again, she looked confused. She looked at me like I was trying to get away with something and asked another one of the employees who also looked confused. Then another employee, then who I assume to be the owner. I went back to my purse and got out the ad I received, showing the body/feet time option. Again, I said I wanted 60 minutes on the body (table) and the rest of the time on the feet. The owner then took the price menu and pointed to a picture of feet and said the 90 minute was for feet. They were only going to do 90 minutes of foot work which is NOT what I was scheduled for and NOT what I wanted. No one was telling me what was going on and now half the place was involved in a conversation. It was extremely embarrassing and since they weren't willing to honor the ad or my appointment after embarrassing me and making me wait 30 minutes I got up and left. I would give a negative star if I could. Staff is absolutely rude as could be. Not only will they talk to each other AND on the phone while giving a massage, be prepared for negative attitudes and DEMANDING tips. Not sure what their method of a "massage" is... but rubbing the skin with no lotion and randomly SLAPPING, is NOT relaxing. Leaving the "spa" I had their nasty lotion in my hair and I just had to take a shower when I got back home. DONT GIGE IN THE THEIR SPECIAL HOT PACKS, it will be WAY to hot and burn you!
