Not the best mango pomelo sago drink I've tried, didn't taste fresh or had good mango flavor. Overall it was okay.

Earl Grey Oreo Roll, $6.99 - 4 Stars

Jie is a new-ish (~6 months) bakery and tea shop on the Ave towards the north end. They have their own parking lot (bonus) with a sizable seating area (also a bonus). The space is basically decorated with Happy Birthday banners. They don't close till 9 on a Saturday which is helpful to get a treat and/or drink after dinner. We were full from dinner, so we bought two pieces of cakes to go. Their prices aren't cheap, though the portion sizes are pretty good. A piece of roll cake is good for two people to share. The bakery is Asian (Chinese, to be exact), so the sweetness is reduced. If you like a full buttercream American cake, this is likely not your place. The counter staff member seems to struggle with English. I personally don't mind. Just be aware of the possibility. Some/most staff members seem to be college students. From our limited dialogue, I learned what their popular items are and picked two. The Food: Pistachio Cheesecake, $8.59 - 3 Stars Pieces of pistachio decorate the top along with half a strawberry. The texture is smoother, not the New York type of texture. The pistachio flavor of the cheesecake is subtle, maybe too subtle. It's kinda spendy at $8.59 (but I have paid more for a single slice of cake). I probably won't buy this one again. Earl Grey Oreo Roll, $6.99 - 4 Stars The sponge cake portion was moist without being wet. The cream is a light-to-mid density. While most rolled cake (similar to Swiss cake rolls) tend to be pretty good, I have an affinity for theirs due to the overall texture - not too hard, not too soft. The Earl Grey flavor is again, not too obvious. I detect a slight smokiness that is tea-like, even if not necessarily Earl Grey tea only. Not bad, and I would buy again, partly because the size is a two-days serving for me. Overall rating is 3.5 stars this time. I am rounding up due to convenient location with parking lot and generous eating area, plus I will likely return.

Overall: Jie Bakery and Tea is alright, but the service was rude, kind of made me uncomfortable. Food: The bread here was alright, nothing super stand out, but overall lightly flavored breads. Service: The person in the store was rude. Didn't really want to answer questions about any of the bread and tried to cut off any attempts at conversation or other questions. Ambiance: A regular bread store, there are some seats and tables inside where you could eat.

Between me and The Homie - there were three visits within a month back in early Feb and March 2025. A worthy detour on the upper Ave in Seattle's University District. This used to be a bagel and coffee spot, but Jie Bakery & Tea has managed to carve out a well visited cafe spot with treats and beverages. For us strategic shoppers though, we are all about the Earl Grey Toast. Soft, tasty whether straight out of the bag or toasted. Enough said.

Props for actual good boba and a nice ambiance. Looks to be a family owned business and you can sometimes hear kids. Cozy interior with tables and outdoor facing counters. Nice environment for work. There is protected wifi but I didn't see any password posted. Didn't stay long, so didn't inquire, but may be for internal use. Review is focused on the drinks (tea portion) rather than the bakery. Unfortunately, limited milk tea menu. While they serve green tea, they weren't able to accommodate a green milk tea request. Their primary boba drinks are all brown sugar base and they didn't have sugar or ice adjustments available. I'm inclined to believe this spot uses powder as the milk tea options are only brown sugar or taro. Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea - way too sweet for me, but pretty much like typical brown sugar drinks. Boba was top tier. Fresh with a solid chew and actual taste.

Came here on a Wednesday evening to get some dessert after dinner! There's lot of cute desserts and decorations. I think they are known for their cheesecakes with the most popular being the pistachio cheesecake, which is what I got. I really enjoyed it, it wasn't too sweet. Not sure if there's a very strong pistachio flavor though since it just tasted more like cheesecake to me, I would want to try the other flavors. Also noticed that one of the cakes in the display had a strawberry with mold on it. Service did not feel the most friendly either but cute bakery overall!

Came here around 8-9 pm and this places is really cozy. Right next to bok a bok chicken up the Ave. a little mom and pop shop. They had a wide selection of Asian pastries and cakes. We got their pistachio roll cake and it was really good. The cream was light and fluffy and of course not too sweet. You can really taste the pistachio flavor as well. Nicely balanced. Definitely be coming back to try more cakes. Additionally they also do custom cake orders as well so if you are looking for a place to make your birthday cakes, they got you!

Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #60 This is a newer bakery and boba shop to the north end of U District. I'm pretty sure they opened several months ago, but they still boast a "Grand Opening" sign right outside. There aren't any deals or discounts at this point though! Just a store selling a bunch of delicious looking bread, some cakes/rolls, and a small menu of drinks. Earl Grey Tea Toast ($6.99) - We visited Jie Bakery & Tea to try the boba, and when we saw they also had toast, we, being the carb fans that we are, had to pick up one as well. The bread is soft, fluffy, and slightly sweet. Biting into it at first: is this really Earl Grey? It tastes like a regular baked pullman loaf. But then the flavor of bergamot oil starts to emerge, ever so slightly, then builds and builds until the flavor covers the entire tongue. Yum! Black specks are embedded throughout the loaf, but don't add any grittiness at all and instead the texture as a whole is smooth and soft. (5/5) Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea, 50% Sugar, Light Ice ($5.85) - This is one of the cheaper boba shops in U District, boasting a 24oz cup size vs. most other shops at 22oz. While Jie Bakery uses a snap on lid for their drinks, they add a piece of wax paper in between the cup and lid, allowing the customer to shake the drink and still have the pleasing pop of the boba straw through the top. The drink is actually quite pleasing, with kind of medicinal herbal notes that remind me heavily of grass jelly. It's heavy with creamer, making the drink thick, but not chemical tasting. Half sweet is not too sweet, and the ice level at half is fine for the drink. I believe the grass jelly taste comes from the boba since it's heavily concentrated on the pearls. Perhaps they marinate the pearls in the grass jelly liquid? The pearls aren't very sweet at all, but the unique taste (for boba) is very intriguing. The boba isn't very consistent in shape or size, but gives off a pretty good chew and bounce. The front teeth kind of sink in the middle with a bit of resistance, then bounces back a bit. Milk Tea Rating: 4/5 Boba Rating: 4/5 Jie Bakery & Tea seems to serve boba that's good, not outstanding, but baked goods that are stellar. I'll be back just for the toast - they have a wide variety of other flavors to try out too! Bathrooms - One unisex room that requires a code.

    Tiramisu
    Jon O.

Tiramisu was pretty good with a delicate texture and flavor. Matcha cheesecake was too dense to us, and there was a heavy aftertaste like fresh mozzarella which was odd. Service was also kinda weird, like she didn't know what any of the flavors were.

The taro toast may be the best bread I've ever had! If you like Asian desserts, especially milk bread type treats, you will love theirs. It was perfectly light, fluffy, and not too sweet with streams of taro paste running through. Delicious! I've also tried their pistachio cheesecake which was decadent but not overly heavy. I think the cake is made of a basque-like cheesecake base and a layer of light pistachio cream on top. It was amazing and I hope this little mom and pop thrives.

The cake was tasty and the boba was pretty good. Definitely strong value for money! The staff person was really sweet and there's space to sit and eat if you'd like.

Amazing Asian bakery! It's a cute setup, very aesthetic. For holiday season they even had a mini Christmas tree!! I would recommend if you're solo or a small group to eat there because the smell is heavenly! I had the pistachio cheesecake and taro milk tea. The cheesecake was a beautiful texture and I could really taste the pistachio flavor!! The milk tea was good, but needed to mix well because the taro paste kind of stuck to the sides. The lady serving is so sweet and she makes sure you have everything you need! Definitely recommend a visit here! They even have bread you can buy if you are just looking for a whole loaf to prepare at home.
