You can book your appointment online, but since I was already in the area, I decided to walk in and schedule my service. The lady who booked my appointment was very nice and was able to get me in about an hour later. Now, while I was waiting and watching some of the other stylists, I noticed there weren't many smiles, nods, or even a little acknowledgment. I quietly prayed neither of those ladies would be my stylist. When someone is about to have their hands in my hair, I need GOOD ENERGY! While I waited, I was offered a glass of champagne. Nice touch! Then came Esperanza! She greeted me with a bubbly personality, a beautiful smile, and great energy from the start. YES! That's exactly what I needed. When someone is dealing with your hair, you definitely don't want any negative energy transferring over. I really enjoyed my service. Esperanza shampooed and conditioned my hair, gave me a good blow-dry, and finished everything off with some pretty loose curls. ‍ I walked out very satisfied with my hair. The salon also has TVs playing movies, along with information about current promotions and services. They offer memberships and service packages if you're looking to make Drybar part of your regular hair routine. Before I left, Esperanza gave me her schedule, and THAT sealed the deal. I had to leave to go to work so my recommendation would be allow yourself enough time. They didn't even offer a free blowout, but if I had missed the appointment, I would've had to pay for the blowout. Overall Drybar is usually consistent and this is the first time I've had a stylist not show up for my appointment.

Little did I know that I was going to come out of my appointment with my hair done to perfection, but even better was meeting Robin and Dee! I'll start with my hair since that is the main focus of finding a salon! Robin took time to talk about what I was looking for, she asked questions to understand my hair care routine, styles etc. She listened and gave her feedback. My color was matched perfectly, and although the cut was just a trim with some slight layers, it was a noticeable difference. Needless to say I love it and Robin is amazing! Then there is the studio and these awesome women! I walked in to the warmest welcome and an instant energy that was inviting. I felt like I had known Robin and Dee for years....we talked the entire appointment! The studio is in a building of salon suites, so there are many rooms of various businesses. The first location (near perimeter mall) the young lady stated she had never seen or heard of the product. She spoke with her manager over the radio who did not know either. So I left disappointment. I went to the Cumberland location and asked Josiah for assistance. He went to the area where the product should be. Then he went a step further, asking the see the item on my phone so he could look up the item number. He found the product in their system then found it on the shelf. I appreciate him for taking the extra step to locate the product because I was getting frustrated that Ulta's website was advertising a product as being in-store if it actually was not in-store.

The long edit: I sat in stylist's chair (a "level 8"...) and showed her an inspo picture. I was wanting to go from a level 5 to 6 all over balayage, to adding a little bit more dimension. So I asked for lifting in some areas and low lights other areas. Not that complicated. She left me in the chair for about 30 minutes as she consulted with her colleagues and acted as if I was a level three wanting to go platinum. That's when I should've walked out. I had a feeling in my gut that she was not going to be able to handle the task. But instead I was too nice and stayed. Anyways. After about 40 minutes of processing, during which she kept complaining that my hair wasn't lifting and accused multiple times I must've used box dye before coming in, my hair was a mess of orange streaks and black base. She went in super dark all over and couldn't lift the pieces she'd pulled. It was a mess. But what made the session so much worse is the fact that she was just so rude to me. As if she'd done me a favor by accepting to see me and just kept insisting that it was my fault because I must've been using box dye. Let me be very clear, I did not pay hundreds of dollars to hide a $10 box from her. I take extremely good care of my hair and had never had a problem lifting, so to be condescended for hours and accused of using box dye was a ridiculous engagement. I left very disappointed and immediately called my usual stylist to fix it. In the end I paid twice the amount to have it corrected. Spoiler alert, she had no issues fixing the orange and lifting the hair to give me exactly what I'd wanted. Generally speaking, I would've given them another chance, as it takes a while to get to know each other, I get that. My review is based on the way that I was treated- the way that I was condescended. The service was just extremely rude and dismissive, and there was this awkward air the entire time as if she was doing me a favor by attempting to deliver a very basic service. You could tell she didn't want to do it and didn't want to be there and was being extremely rude to you. This place is a lot like visible changes where they're charging you a premium purely based on the artist tenure, not an ability to actually deliver quality. Do not recommend at all.

I've been going to Bob Steele Salon for years and have spent well over $5,000 there without ever…read moreleaving a negative review. Unfortunately, my recent experience with a new stylist, Gibelli, was extremely disappointing. I asked for creamy blonde balayage highlights and a trim, but the result was far from what I requested. About four inches of my hair were cut off, despite only asking for a trim, and the layers are uneven and inconsistent. The color work is also problematic. Instead of blended balayage, the highlights appear chunky, uneven, and several different shades, with orange tones throughout and large sections that appear to have been missed entirely. There is little to no blending. A close friend of mine who is a licensed stylist also commented that the highlights look more like traditional foil highlights rather than balayage, which may explain the harsh lines and lack of blending. I left the salon crying because of how much length was removed. While color can technically be corrected, length cannot be restored for at least a year, and I may even have to cut more hair to even everything out. The salon offered a partial redo, but I'm uncomfortable with that solution. I don't want to darken the hair (which would make it harder to lighten later), and I'm also hesitant to bleach my hair again only two weeks after the original service due to potential damage. When I expressed these concerns, the manager seemed frustrated and unwilling to consult a trained stylist about how the correction would actually work. It also felt odd that a partial correction was booked when I originally paid for a full balayage service. Considering the service cost nearly $400 and my long history as a loyal client, I expected a more thoughtful and professional resolution. At this point, I'll likely need to see a more experienced color specialist elsewhere to correct the color issues. Unfortunately, while color can be corrected, the lost length cannot. For reference, I've also included a photo of what my hair looked like in November before my December highlights with Taylor, plus about four months of growth. My current hair is actually darker than it was two color services ago, which makes the result even more confusing. This was a very disappointing experience after many years of positive visits.
