After having a bad experience at another location, I visited this one and they changed my mind! Shout out to Josiah! Parking: it's in a shopping plaza, plenty of parking. I was looking for NYX eyebrow stencils. The website told me which locations I would be able to find them. The first location (near perimeter mall) the young lady stated she had never seen or heard of the product. She spoke with her manager over the radio who did not know either. So I left disappointment. I went to the Cumberland location and asked Josiah for assistance. He went to the area where the product should be. Then he went a step further, asking the see the item on my phone so he could look up the item number. He found the product in their system then found it on the shelf. I appreciate him for taking the extra step to locate the product because I was getting frustrated that Ulta's website was advertising a product as being in-store if it actually was not in-store. read more

Had YET ANOTHER bad experience at this Ulta with its staff. Now after the past few disasters at this location I now will only go to this location for in store pickups when in a time pinch. It's the holidays and I am in said time pinch so I did an in store pickup and once again encountered a rude and unprofessional staff member. Kind of wild to leave a store that you've only been physically inside for less than 5 min this annoyed but this location never fails to be the worst so how can I be surprised. Picked up my color the girl handed it to the register. I brought it home. It wasn't even within 14 shades of my color. I was looking for a red what I got was a very dark burgundy. When I tried to return it, they would only give me a store credit. I picked out my color again and they didn't have the color or anything close to it or any other brand that had a color close to it their shelves are empty when it comes to wanting something that isn't in a sales being super cheap or should be. They did find a similar color and it only would cost me double but it wasn't even the color. I know they got me so I left with what I walked in with. This store is usually very clean, plenty of parking and they have everything you're looking for. Sometimes I just like going in here to smell the new fragrances they have, this last time I went in every single fragrance including the testers were locked up. An associate said it was due to stealing which is very unfortunate and I would have to wait for another associate with a key to just smell fragrances and since I didn't want to bother one associate with opening and closing multiple cases for me to just smell the fragrances I just left and went to Sephora. Stephanie, master stylist at the Salon was not honest with her service. I paid for a blow out and she just washed my hair and blew dry my hair with a comb. My hair is nappy and she knew that without the right heat and brush my hair will be frizzy. I didn't say anything because I thought she would use an actual round brush later on but she didn't. She left me with my hair full of frizz and puffy. I couldn't believe that she was telling me she doesn't touch the root. I've been a customer of Ulta for 4 years and this is the first time that a stylist leaves my hair looking like that. The way she lied to my face trying to tell me that's a blow out. They are always smiling and engaging with their customers. I've enjoyed every visit since coming here over the past 3 years. You cannot go wrong when booking an appointment with either one. Emma, the salon manager is involved with booking and scheduling client services. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. My hair always looks amazing when I leave the salon. This is the worst store in the area. I had an odd experience yesterday with the sales associates that left me feeling weird afterwards. As usual, no one greeted me or asked if I needed help - typical for this store. When I went to check out, I asked the cashier if they had a particular item in stock, and she completely ignores me to answer the question of another customer several registers down, who was already in conversation with her own cashier. Completely disrespectful but I would have brushed it off had that been the only thing. Then, she brings me to the area of the item I'm looking for, and walks away without another word with one of the other sales associates. I mean, really??? I assume they went to the back because I never saw her again. I went back to my items at the register and another associate stepped over and finished my transaction. A little communication goes a long way - but they could not even do that. Upon leaving, even my husband said "That was weird." The final time I'll visit this store. read more

Normally, I would probably give them a 3-4 star just because I'm really a product junkie and Ulta is most times closer and easier to get into than Sephora (ie, i don't have to go to the mall, deal with parking, and walking through the mall) and you can get prestige products and drugstore products in the same place. I've been an Ulta beauty card member for YEARS. At least 10 or more years, and recently needed to return an item. I was disappointed to find out that they cannot use your beauty card number to track your purchases. Well, they can, because they send you coupons based upon what you spend quarterly, but they can't locate that information to process your returns. Ultas receipt states that NO REFUNDS without a receipt. That's one of the drawback to them having such a vast variety of products and no exclusive items. Most of their items can be purchased (shoplifted) at other stores and if you can't prove it to them they were purchase at their stores, they are not taking it back. I tried to debate this with the cashier, but since it is printed on the receipt I took the item back and left the store. Note: someone will be receiving a bottle of Essies Pink Breast Cancer Nail Polish for Christmas. (lol) Still a fan of beauty products, but please Ulta, bring your return policy into the 21st century, particually for those of us that are your Beauty Club members. read more

The store has a sign out for a discount on mascara with all of the available options in tubs next to the sign. Naturally, I'm stoked. I grabbed a couple and let the cashier know that they weren't ringing up at the price on the sign. She called over her manager, Anthony, who walked me over to where it was and showed me that the sale doesn't start for 14 more days in the fine print. Not only was he not willing to honor the discount that was clearly posted but he was condescending and talked down to me. For the savings of $14 total, he lost a long time customer. I placed an order online in Birmingham, Al and my order was incorrect. The associate didn't bother to look for items, but did tell me that they were all out. I sent in an email to Guest Services and they didn't help, but lied to tell me the product wasn't in stock. The time was stocked and on the shelf when I went to pick up my order. Ulta no longer includes hair styling as part of their Signature haircut services. I have been going here for years for signature haircut ($67-$77 depending on stylist). Always included hair wash, cut and style. Yesterday they charged me extra $33 for blow-dry with flat-iron (WOW!). Cost me $120 for a light trim and style with tip. Less than an hour's worth of time and effort - didn't even have to wash my hair as I came in with clean hair. So let me just start off by saying, this is not the first time I have come to this location, but of all the locations...this is by far THE WORST!!! I walked in and thought I was invisible. Nobody greeted me not a word. I went straight to the back to the hair products as I was looking for the Deva Curl line. I had spoken with one of the staff at the Buckhead location who was giving me all the details on the line so I was going in trying to remember everything she said. Well, needless to say my memory was not working that day (not the norm) but I walked around reading and looking for different things and again, nobody came to ask if I needed help nothing. I was on the phone with my sister by this time and she was telling me to leave. She said if nobody asked if you needed help and are acting like you're invisible you should leave. They don't want your money. I decided she was right. I managed to walk back out the door, still no have a good day, good riddance, bye dog...nothing. This store and their customer service sucks! If they ever stop talking with each other or their friends long enough to field a question, they either don't know the answer or just flat out lie. This location is what I am reviewing. I have not had bad experiences at Ulta, in general. However, this location must have bad management because the employees do not seem to know anything about customer service compared to other locations. This location is the closest to where I live, so I have repeatedly gone, thinking perhaps the employee(s) were having a bad day, they were short staffed, etc. After going to this location time and time again, it is always the same level of customer service- poor. When you can't find something in the store, you can never seem to find someone who can help you. When you do ask them to help you with something, they never seem happy to help you, but more so inconvenienced. Additionally, if you are buying a particular product that comes with a 'Free Gift With Purchase' they never seem to have any available and they do not offer any alternate as other Ulta stores do. Ultimately, I wanted to review this location in case management looks at these reviews and implements changes in the workplace based on feedback. In a city like Atlanta, there are a lot of options of where to shop and with poor customer service, people will naturally choose a different store to go to. read more

If I could give 0 stars to this location in particular and Ulta as a whole I would. As many will see from my reviews, I'm a pretty even-kilt reviewer and oftentimes very generous in my comments, suggesting that I would be nothing less than fair in this review. The first issue that I have overall with Ulta stores is the lack of customer service and the apparent lack of cultural diversity training. I can count on one hand, the number of times that I've gone into an Ulta establishment, only to be left wandering around the store looking for products without any greeting or assistance from their staff. On two occasions, the staff were gathered on the floor collectively, talking amongst themselves, and never acknowledging customers. Sadly, I called the store and spoke with a less than interested manager who attempted to cover or justify their poor level of performance. Makes sense though...leading by example. On my most recent visits, I had one Sales rep look at me like I was crazy because I was exchanging some products that were purchased as a gift. Nothing unheard of right? Well, she provided some BS excuse of why I couldn't exchange or do a store credit without the receipt or having the customers Points Reward info....Viola!!!! I produce the receipt via phone with the barcode and her story changes. You know that feeling when someone is telling a boldface lie to you??? Yeap! Me too. That's what I got from this sales lady rep who really didn't want to be bothered. But, being the bigger and more professionally competent person that I am, told her I would get the receipt from the person who purchased the products that live in NC. So, with receipt in tow, three days afterwards, another Sales lady person stands at the counter, and when I politely hand her the products (because I think its rude and disrespectful to put stuff on the counter as though the person is diseased), looked at me like I was crazy. Not sure why....(i think my Yelp profile pics are pretty darn cute). So I'm immediately wandering if there was a form of Leprosy appearing on my body. Nevertheless, I give her the spill from my previous experience at the same location, showed her the receipt, and....(wait for it)... SHE BARELY GLANCED AT IT! So all the talk from the other rep was a bunch of garbage and an attempt to get out of doing her job and be a difficult employee. Nevertheless, I have a store credit but I'm so not interested in shopping in this store. If anyone from the leadership team of Ulta is assigned to reviewing customer dissatisfaction, this review is for you. Better yet, I own and run a Coaching and Management firm in which we train organizations, corporations, and individuals on customer relations and etiquette. My belief is that this level of training is not reaching general employees but may be happening on a larger level of Ulta because it's not coincidental that this experience has taken place in separate locations. Do you want to come to a place where the sales associates are too busy gossiping to help? Do you want the sales associate to not be able to hide the fact that she's annoyed that you dared asked her a question when she was in the middle of a conversation with another sales associate? Would you want to be in a store where the number of sales associates on the clock outnumber the amount of customers but they are still too "busy" to help? Would you want to come to a place where the sales associates who aren't busy gossiping will try to avoid eye contact with you so that they won't have to be bothered to answer your question? How do you want to be told where an item is located? Do you want the sales associate to simply point in the general direction over their shoulder and then quickly go back to their conversation with their fellow sales associate? If you're simply walking around a display trying to pick out items for their buy 2 - get 1 free deal, would you want a sales associate to automatically think you're stealing and proceed to stand directly behind you with her arms crossed and a smug look on her face? Would you want her to follow you around the store for the next 5 minutes? When you purchase your items, would you want to be greeted by an unsmiling, unfriendly sales associate who sells items that you could easily purchase at Wal-Mart for much cheaper? No? Keke was very straight forward with me about my hair type and what I presented in my basic Google image search. I told her "just cut it" to however she thought would look best. Let me tell you.
