I intentionally waited more than six months before writing this review because I wanted to be able to comment honestly on both the experience and the results. My crown area had become almost completely bald, and I also had significant thinning through the mid-scalp. At this point, I am seeing real growth in the crown and noticeably greater density through the middle of my scalp. I understand that the full result takes time, so I am still relatively early in the process, but what I am seeing so far has made me very happy with my decision. One thing I especially appreciate is how natural and gradual the change has been. Hair restoration is not an overnight transformation. The growth happens progressively, which was actually a positive for me because the change did not suddenly draw attention from friends, family, or colleagues. Over time, you simply begin to look younger and more like yourself again - with your own natural hair growing back. I did a great deal of research before deciding to have a transplant, and I had plenty of questions and concerns going into it. The hardest part for me personally was being told I could not work out for roughly two weeks, and as someone who spends a lot of time in the gym, that may have been the most difficult part of the entire process! What really stood out, however, was the level of personal care after the procedure. Dr. Wetzel personally called and texted to check on me, and I had his direct cell number if I had a question or concern. That kind of access and follow-through is rare. The entire Anderson Center for Hair staff was also kind, helpful, and caring before, during, and after the procedure. Though FUE is a premium compared to an FUT procedure I truly felt FUE was the best long-term fit for me as I wanted minimal scarring given my history of enjoying a short haircut style. Day of operation came and some of the initial things Dr Wetzel will work with you to do pre-op is the before photographs of your hair, the shaving of your head to optimize him and his staff ability to extract follicles, and then the designing or outline of your desired hairline which is carefully crafted to be natural. Day of procedure I was in office for 8 hours approximately for a Medium hair restoration procedure (2200-2300 grafts). The next morning, I woke up and went back to the office for complimentary hair wash and red-light treatment - a fantastic decision if you have the time to do this. The hair follicles are very fragile in the first 48-72 hours, so those next few days are crucial for following the discharge instructions. I asked lots of questions. He told me, "Curtis is talented, and he is a good man. No pressure. No contracts. You will love him and his staff.. They will do you right and there will be no pressure at all.". Since we already had an appointment at the downtown Knoxville Hair Club and it was local, we thought... "We'll go and hear what they offer.". The Hair Club called us the day before to confirm Ellie's appointment. We went. Paid to park. Traveled up elevator to a locked door with a bunch of incoming packages in front of it! No one was there. Frustrated, we called the 1-800 number. They said that there had been a problem with the water and so they closed that day... They offered to reschedule our appointment and give us a $500 credit on products. Uggh!
