Overall it was fine. Came for an oil change, once we said no to the additional services that would have been $400+ we felt somewhat pushed away/unwelcome. The person that came in after us, their car was done at the same time as ours and they were asked to check out first, which wasn't an issue until the employee was discussing discounts, etc. then when we went to pay it was very dismissive and even seemed annoyed when we had a coupon. They did my headlights and ruined them. I took the car back after they asked to redo them. The General Manager did them again while I watched. He really screwed them up and burned them with sandpaper and then a chemical spray as I watched. Now the lights need to be replaced and they do not want to pay for it. After posting my two-star review of them a few months ago and getting their "social media/Yelp-watcher" response saying that that was unexpected and to contact them, I thought about it for a couple of days and decided to, OK, reach out and possibly waste my time responding to that. No response ever came back. I assume that they just are trying to "CYA" with that response. Others have gotten those as well. Don't bother, is my thought on that. And I did have to go and get another inspection there when I realized my son's car needed an inspection THAT DAY so I could pay for the registration on time. They were very busy that day, but did get me through in what seemed to be the correct order. Then when the car failed the inspection and I just needed to put new wipers on it, they let me do that right there, and then passed me immediately. That was the most positive part of the thing. I had taken the exact proper change/cash this time so don't know if they actually couldn't make change again, but I have no reason to assume otherwise, since last time wasn't the first time that had happened for me. read more

Brought in my car for NC inspection after having other vehicles inspected there in previous years.. I'd only had the windshield wipers replaced less than 3 months ago but was told mine wouldn't pass inspection. Against my better judgment, I went ahead and had them replaced since I was paying for the inspection anyway. I'm disappointed and feel taken advantage of. BEWARE! I went in for a state inspection and they tried to upsell with new filter, oil change and claimed I needed a tire, some lame reason it was peeling on the inside. I didn't agree and I told them I only wanted the inspection. Once I got in the car I noticed they failed me on the tire they never mentioned that as I checked out. I went to a place that I trust, which incidentally also sells tires. The car pass without any problems and no mentioning of any issue with the tire!! read more

Similar to the other responses, I have never felt the urge to leave a review for a business, but the people at this Jiffy Lube don't care in the slightest about fixing your car. They want to make as much money as possible. My boyfriend recently went for an oil change, and like others was told his brakes and air filter NEEDED to be replaced. He chose to skip the brakes, as they were trying to charge him $499, but agreed to the air filter. The following day his car was making a strange sound, so he pulled out the filter himself only to see it was the exact same dirty one they pulled out at the shop. He paid $69 for them to put his old filter back in his car. When he went for a refund they tried to ring up $27, and when he called them out they said they misread the receipt. When I went the prior month, I was also told that my brakes and filter needed to be replaced, and after skipping I ended up with transmission issues just days after. I checked with my dealership for a replacement and they told me my brakes were fine. Don't ever go here. read more

The mecanics as Jiffy Lube on Franklin street, Chapel Hill are unprofessional, ignorant, and ill-informed. The brake fluid level in my 2013 Honda Accord is midway between the MIN and the MAX signs on the side of the reservior. However, the car failed the state ispection because, according the mecanics at this Jiffy Lube, the "brake fluid reservoir is not full". When I tried to explain that the fluid level is in perfect agreement with the Honda dealer's recommandation, just as decribed in the owner's manual, the mecanic became outight hostile and started yelling that I was wasting his time and he would never let the car pass the ispection unless I fill up the reservoir to the MAX level. At that point I took the car to the Jiffy Lube on Fordham blvd. in Chapel Hill where it passed the ispection withpout any problems. read more

This is a great place to go...if you want the job to be done poorly and possibly have parts of your car stolen or "misplaced". A simple oil change done with a cheap filter, unknown "synthetic" oil and they ended up stealing or "misplacing" the plastic engine cover. Sure, it's not a mechanical necessity - but it's mine and the car came in with it, but left with it missing. The idea behind having someone change your oil is so that you don't have to do it yourself or inventory your car to ensure that it wasn't parted out while on the rack. Save your money, save your time, go anywhere else. You could probably have a blind circus bear with a wooden mallet and a can of pineapple juice do a better job - maybe try that instead? read more

Total scam - Stay away!! I sure wish I had looked at the reviews before I came here. I came in for a simple oil change and tire rotation and was told I needed new brakes ($450) and when I reluctantly agreed / they immediately told me my front brakes were bad too. While I was in the waiting room - one person was told they had to buy new wiper blades to pass inspection. Another person had dirty brake fluid. I went to another Jiffy Lube in Raleigh for 10 years and was never once upsold. So disappointed and mad at myself for believing them. Just plain terrible. When my car came in for service no lights were on in my dash. They did an oil change, a brake flush, and replaced my air filter. I asked one of the techs to check the levels with me before I left. Upon pulling the dipstick out, I noticed that it was overfilled. He said it was because the curve in my dipstick is making the oil level higher. That is the most confounding answer you could possibly give. When I started my car the check engine light came on immediately. I told the manager what happened and he shrugged and said that happens sometimes. That happens sometimes?! Yeah, when you screw up! He wanted to charge me to read the codes that his employees just caused. After I explained how pissed off I was he ran the codes. My oil pressure sensor is screwed (probably due to too much oil). The manager refused to do anything to help me and said the codes were manufacturer specific. This is is the shadiest, most incompetent business I've ever stepped foot in. I would write more but I'm pretty busy fixing their mistakes. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would!!! I will be the first to admit, I know next to little about cars. However, I took my car here to get a simple oil change. They came back with a whole list of things I needed to do to my car (including something with the coolant). I went ahead and got it done because I will be driving a lot this summer. However, 3 days later I get home from running errands to find my car hood smoking and my engine overheating. I manage to get my car back to jiffy lube and they said 'someone' (aka THEM) forgot to bleed my coolant. They tell me they got it fixed and all is okay. HOWEVER, just now I was driving DOWN THE HIGHWAY, when the same issue happened. My car started rumbling, engine light turned on, and the engine kept getting hotter and hotter. I thankfully could take side streets to get back to chapel hill, and after stopping twice to let the engine cool down, got it to a pep boys. Jiffy lube made the mistake, told me they fixed it, then the same issue happened. i have never had any issues with my car until I took it to this jiffy lube. I went to get my oil changed and inspected. I was told that I needed new windshield wipers for my car to pass inspection. I was surprised because I had just changed them not too long ago, and they seemed to be working just fine. I was offered other services, which I declined except for the tire rotation. Before agreeing to all the services, I asked how much it was going to be. I was quoted around $96.00. When my car was ready, I was told it was $170.00! I told them that was not what I had been quoted, but they said that was the total. I believe that if they quote a price for something, they should make sure they know how to calculate it so no one is surprised. It seems very unprofessional and dishonest. read more

Absolutely horrible. Never, ever go here. I needed a state inspection. They proceeded to fail me for brake fluid and windshield wipers. I tried to argue that ky brake fluid was at the max line and my wipers were completely fine, but it was a lost cause. I told them to stop and get me out of there as soon as possible. I knew something was not right. They told me once an inspection starts, they can't stop it. So they failed my inspection. An hour later, I went to an oriellys to get their opinion on my wipers and brake fluid... if they agreed that I needed to fix it, I was ready to purchase the necessary things to remedy, in order to pass the next inspection....sure enough they agreed everything was completely fine and validated me. Subsequently, I drove to another inspection center, changed absolutely NOTHING, and passed with flying colors. I told the techs about my previous experience earlier in the day with this jiffy lube and they confirmed they were money grubbing and absolutely incompetent. DO NOT GO HERE. I can not stress this enough. After reading the multiple similar experiences... please, save your money, time, and energy at a different establishment. I am reporting this jiffy lube to the ncdot/ncdmv because they should not be allowed to perform inspections. read more

I went with my girlfriend to have her car inspected and the employee who met us at the garage entrance was very objectifying and creepy. After first mocking her voice when she greeted him, he flirted with her openly, holding up his hands to frame her face and saying "I wanna take a picture of that and make it my screensaver!" Very weird. He was also very condescending when she was looking for her registration, insinuating that she didn't know what it looked like or whether it was the proper registration for the car itself. After that, he lingered and continued trying to make conversation with her in the waiting room. I had just come out for lunch and my oil cap blew off and sprayed oil everywhere, called and asked if it was safe to drive in to the shop and Matt told me to hang tight, came straight over and helped me diagnose the problem and added 3 quarts of oil for free! I tried to give him some cash for the oil and his trouble but he wouldn't take it--trust and peace of mind are so important in picking a mechanic, and I definitely know where I'm going from now on. read more

Better Than the Dealership??? So I took my car to a this Jiffy Lube on a Sunday. It was pretty busy but they said they could do the work. I needed two things done. Inspection, Recall information. Car inspection: I asked what I need to pass inspection on my Lexus. The Lexus dealership only suggested two things. Jiffy Lube found 5 things. I did the work and my car passed inspection at Jiffy Lube. Recalls: I was made aware that my car had a recall on the wipers by my neighbor who has the same make, year and model as mine. So, I asked if there was recalls at the dealership and was told there were none. My repair guy at Jiffy Lube found 2. How does this happen? The guys at Jiffy Lube also found a gas sensor that was left off on my Lexus. This is something the dealership missed. So Is Jiffy Lube in Chapel Hill better than a Lexus Dealership??? Just left this place before getting my car inspected. I saw no one at the store wearing a mask when I arrived, but they were outside. When I entered the waiting area I noticed a woman behind the counter without a mask. As I sat down I notice the person driving MY car into the bay didn't have on a mask. I went outside and told them I have a vulnerable person at home and I'd be leaving with my car. I drove it out of their bay. I told them I would be contacting Jiffy Lube regarding their actions. And then... I was told Jiffy Lube doesn't care if they wear masks or not. I was told I wouldn't be the first one to report them. I was told by one employee that he didn't care about my wife. Came for a simple oil change. I'm new at car maintenance and that's probably clear to salesmen. The man at the counter showed four options for which oil I wanted, each being pretty expensive. I asked if those were the *only* options, he said yes. I said "ok, I'll take the cheapest", he said something about how it's a "blend" and clicked through with it. I said oh ok, I only came for a basic oil change, and it was THEN that he clicked back and scrolled over to reveal a fifth option-- the basic oil for half the price of the other four oils. Had I not said the word "basic", I would have been given the premium oil thinking it was the cheapest they have. At checkout, the man mentioned that I "messed up his numbers for the day". I understand that selling extras is how they make money, but lying about the cheapest oil isn't the way. I wouldn't trust them in the future. The service was fast and efficient, though. read more

I came into the Jiffy Lube at 607 A W Franklin St in Chapel Hill, NC for an oil change and left with disappointment. From the beginning assistant manager Louis was both hostile and unprofessional. My car was being serviced in the bay closest to the waiting area and what I witnessed from behind the glass did not inspire confidence. At one point I saw a service tech close the hood to my car, lift the garage gate like he was going to pull out, then close the gates, reopen the hood and start fumbling with the plastic engine cover as if it was a rubix cube. It was at this point that I became concerned, exited the waiting area and asked assistant manager Louis is everything was alright with the car. He abruptly dismissed my concerns, became agitated and raised his voice in a hostile tone exclaiming that "he'd be finished when he was finished," and that he wasn't done. This was the extent of his explanation. I then went back inside to continue waiting. A short while later I observed that Louis had removed the plastic engine cover, which he now had in the back of the shop. Concerned once more about what was happening, I exited the waiting area and asked him if everything was alright with the cover, he once again became hostile and began yelling that the job wasn't finished and he'd let me know when it was done. It was at this point that I'd had enough. I asked him to stop what he was doing with my vehicle, and put everything back because I wished to leave as soon as possible because I questioned both his professionalism and ability. Once I was back in the waiting are Louis came in and told me to: "Take your car and don't come back." I asked him about the invoice and billing for the oil change that had already been performed. He said that he was not going to charge me. At this point I realized two things. First, that records of vehicle maintenance are important especially on down the road for resale, and secondly, without an invoice there would be no record of my ever having visited this Jiffy Lube. It was at this point that I had to threaten to call customer service because he was flat out refusing to bill or invoice me., Eventually under threat of a phone call to corporate - he caved and drafted an invoice. Immediately after leaving with my vehicle I drove to a nearby automotive repair shop and have them examine the work just completed. The mechanic was kind enough to take a look under the hood and upon doing so found a screw driver along with a screw that went with the air intake housing (which was missing both screws at this point). He put the one screw back in place where it belonged and said to bring the car to him next time. Grateful for his assistance I thanked him and went on my way. I'd like to keep this documentation as much about the pure facts as possible. However, I'd like to add that I personally work in customer service for a living and this kind of behavior from an employee dealing with customers is completely unacceptable, and tantamount to an adult temper-tantrum. It was even more shocking to see that labeled clearly on Louis' name tag that he carried the title of "assistant manager." I couldn't believe he was part of the senior staff, because, and I mean this sincerely, he exuded all of the warmth and charm of a North Korean border guard. Were I to comport myself like this at my job, I'd be fired on the spot. Needless to say, I'll never be visiting another Jiffy Lube again. read more

I took my car here for an oil change, the tech stated that i needed my cabin air filter changed IMMEDIATELY or it would affect my motor. I told him that couldn't be the case because i had recently had my cabin air filter changed, less than a month. A few days later I noticed that my air or heat would not blow out. My husband thought that maybe a fuse needed to be changed, so he checked it out. He found that those CROOKS disconnected the motor blower transistor connector while saying my cabin air filter need to be replace when it didn't!!! This particular tech tried selling me tires (which i needed) but not through jiffy lube, it was his side hustle!!! I WILL NEVER GO BACK!!! read more

This place is totally fine. Most oil change locations try to convince you that you need something else. You just say no. Although they make it sound like you could really use something new, if you don't want to buy it, they can't force you. Say "no thanks, I just want a cheap oil change". Remember they are human and will understand. So knowing this about chain oil change places, I go in with "no" written all over my face. They try to get me to buy you know, everything..but I say no. Until they encourage me to buy the more expensive oil. The perk is that with the expensive oil I can double my time between the next oil change so it actually equals the amount of two oil changes. So, that seemed normal to me? So I said yes. I don't totally regret it. Also this was my decision and more than anything it encouraged me to learn how to change my own oil so I don't have to pay anyone anything. This will be a future goal. Aside from guilt of saying yes, I had a great experience. The mechanic was very kind and courteous. They vacuumed my floors, cleaned my windows, checked the pressure in my tires. I have never written a review for anything. However, my experience at Jiffy Lube was so poor that I don't want anyone to have the same experience. Prior to bringing my car in to Jiffy Lube, my car had not had any problems and has just over 60,000 miles on it. A little over a month ago, I took my car in for an oil change and an inspection. When I brought the car in, we decided on the type of oil that would be replaced and the cost. However, after the oil was already drained, I was informed that my car actually had to take a different kind of oil that was $90. After the inspection and oil change I left and assumed my experience was over. However, the next day, I put my car in reverse and it immediately went forward and was making funny sounds. Panicked, I checked the oil and saw it was overfilled by at least a quart. I tried to drive it to have it checked out and the noise and shaking of the car were so intense that I did not make. I stopped at a friend's house and took a break. When we turned the car back on, it would not move at all, regardless of if it was in reverse, neutral or drive. The next day the car made it to Jiffy Lube and we explained what had happened. The manager looked over the car and changed the oil. I was assured that nothing had happened to damage the car. The next day I drove to work and my car was steaming profusely by the time I made it there. The check engine light was also on. I was not close to Jiffy Lube and took it to a shop that was closer. They told me that the water pump was broken and charged me to replace it. There were no problems or indications of problems two days earlier when it passed inspection. The check engine light has been on and off and I have taken it in. I have been assured that it is ok. However, I just brought it to the Toyota dealership where I was told that the water pump is broken again and the head gasket needs to be replaced from overheating. The only time my car has overheated was the day after Jiffy Lube assured me my car was ok. It passed inspection the day I brought it in for the oil change and has had constant problems since. There were not problems at all before this oil change. Don't get your oil changed here unless you want to pay thousands of dollars to have it repaired somewhere different. read more

Amazing ! I have a 4 hour drive the day after Indy500, trying to get home. My tire light came on and a notification that I need all tires checked. Thank God these guys were opened. I even tried to go to a gas station to fill the tires myself but the air pump was broken. These guys were so friendly and nice. They not only filled all my tires but reset the sensor. They didn't even charge me! If I lived here, they would be my go to. Thank you!! read more
