Next day,I called Milt and said, take a look and give me my options. No rush, I said, since I have other cars I can drive. Milt and his crew found some time to not only diagnose the problem (two rubbng hoses put a hole in one), but to repair the problem. Same day! I picked the car up this morning and it is working perfectly. Like I said before, if you are not taking your car to Sharp, you should start doing so. My car died on the NY Thruway today near Kingston. Lost all electrical power. Had to have the car…read moretowed and the tow driver suggested bringing the car to STS, who I thought just did tires. I was surprised STS was open on Sunday, on a holiday weekend no less. The STS folks were completely sympathetic to my plight and agreed to do what they could for my car immediately. They couldn't get it started and had 4 guys push it into the garage to start taking a look. They ran all their diagnostics and found out it needed a new battery as well as alternator. After awhile, the head tech came out and sadly told me that he would not be able to fix the car because of the awkward placement of the alternator behind the coolant lines, and he was afraid he'd cause more problems than he would solve, and recommended other local places better equipped to perform the work. I was very impressed with his honesty and asked what I owed him for his trouble. He said not a penny, and had his 4 guys push the car back out for the next tow. While we waited, they offered my wife and I refreshments, and gave us the remotes to watch tv in the lobby while we waited. I know it's unusual to write a good review for work that wasn't successfully completed, but I really appreciated the welcoming attitude, honesty, and effort that the folks at STS made to help us through a difficult day.

While here, I found out STS originated from Mavis(?)- that's a story for another time. What matters is that they got me exactly what I needed: 4 brand new Goodyear tires, installed smoothly and without any hassle. As for the crew working on my car, they were professional. I appreciated how thorough they were, treating my car with care as if it were their own. Here's the kicker: compared to my car dealership, STS came in at $200 less for the exact same Goodyear tires. That's not just a win, it's a no-brainer. I left feeling satisfied- but most importantly, safe.

Was told he wouldn't work on it and to have it towed away to another shop citing that there were "too many cars in line" "people are always calling and interrupting me while I'm working". When picking up the car I tried to explain that I was only calling because of the timeline they gave me and the owner shouted at me threatened to fight me in the office?! Honestly, it seemed like he was having a nervous breakdown, so yeah, wouldn't recommend. Pretty insane way to treat customers.

This place is VERY SHADY. I am a 30 year old single female who doesn't know much about cars and…read moreunfortunately mechanics prey on people like me and I need to be careful. I'm not one to write reviews but I felt it was absolutely necessary this time. Ed is in charge of the shop and I spoke to him many times and it always felt like he was just trying to rush off the phone or just convince me to get more repairs so they could make more money. He uses fear tactics as well as high pressure sales tactics to convince customers to spend more money. I took my car here because it would not start. They told me that I needed to get my engine replaced because one of my piston rings was worn and leaking oil into combustion chamber. They told me it would be $6,789 to fix. I took it to a new mechanic to get a second opinion. The new mechanic told me that my car was fine and that I just flooded the engine and to make sure I warm up my car for at least 10 min before driving but otherwise it was fine and I can come pick it up. Needless to say I will no longer be going to Monro Auto and I suggest you do the same.
