My little dog Harlow has been very ill with serious GI issues and had to be placed on a strict novel-protein diet. She wouldn't eat canned rabbit food, and I was desperate to find something that would work. Lunardi's carries rabbit, and Jacob has gone above and beyond by carefully cutting and preparing frozen rabbit into pieces I can cook fresh for her at home. His kindness, patience, and willingness to help during a very stressful time for me and my pup have meant the world. This isn't just great customer service -- it's genuine compassion and care. Because of Jacob, Harlow is able to get the nutrition she needs. Lunardi's is lucky to have someone like him representing their store. Thank you, Jacob, for your exceptional service and for helping take care of my sweet girl.

Holy guacamole! What a great store! This is my friends favorite store and I was helping her out…read morewith the grocery shopping. I've only been to Lunardi's a few times but I have never been disappointed with an item. Let's start with the fresh fruits - they are actually fresh! My whole life I've avoided red delicious apples because they have always disappointed. These were so good it was like a different fruit. Crunchy the way a good apple should be. Sweet and flavorful and juicy, juicy, juicy. The red delicious has redeemed itself in my book and deserves to survive instead of burned to the last tree down to the ground. I always thought I hated apples but it turns out I hate bad apples. Of course, the grapes and the blueberries are equally good, but they are not the eye opening experience as with the red delicious, mostly because I've gone grape/berry picking. Then let us not forget the made to order sandwiches! I was awed by the selection of toppings. They actually had cucumber available. Not the most common veggie for sandwiches. Also they had low sodium ham. So for those of you on restricted diets, check out the sandwich bar. Since my friend shops here regularly, I knew Lunardis would have some of the more difficult items on the grocery list. I was impressed by how the selection was so well balanced. It ranged from popular supermarket staples to some fairly exotic choices. Sugar free, gluten free, low carb, low sodium. You can find it here. Prices ranged from reasonable for the supermarket regulars to some exotic prices for the exotic items. I was pretty stunned by the final price for one bag of groceries. Service goes the extra mile. For heaven's sake you just hand your basket to the staff and they take from there at the checkout. No need to pull the items out for the convenience of the staff. I had a tough time finding items since I've been in this store maybe three times. Always polite no matter how basic the question. Extremely helpful, one staffer walked me over to the correct selection. I might not have the budget to shop here as my go to supermarket but it's certainly worth a pilgramage to pick some some special items (the apples...) As you would expect for a high end store, it was damned near perfect. I never saw an item that was shopped empty on the shelves. Bottles and boxes were neatly lined up in orderly rows. It was almost shocking to see someone had plucked an item from the perfectly stocked shelf. Of course it was spotlessly clean; the floor was almost mirrorlike with a sheet of smooth polish. There was no odor, not from the butchers, the fish, the sandwich bar, not even the bakery! Some complete perfectionist clearly manages and loves this chain of stores. I noticed even the customers were either very polite or the store had deftly trained them. Covid rules were still in effect. A large percentage of customers still wore their masks. I felt very safe and wished I had brought along my N95 respirator or at least a mask.

Ordering is easy, and the product is consistently fresh, flavorful, and unique. Pizza toppings are fresh and relatively healthy, and there is always an option to have Alfredo sauce. Pizzas are ever skimpy on cheese or toppings, and crust is a good thickness. We've had several family members and friends enjoy these pizzas at our house, and everyone has been happy with these pies. Service is fast, too!y my only complaint is that I wish ordering could be done online as opposed to the phone. Additionally, pizza is a generous size and a remarkable value for the price! Thanks, WF!

At the register, the cashier, an older white woman, did not tell me my total as is normally done to let me know that the POS equipment is ready for payment. Instead, she snapped at me, asking, "Are you going to pay?!" as I was pulling up my credit card on my phone. I calmly responded yes and completed the transaction. Afterward, she ended the interaction with a curt "bye." The interaction felt unnecessarily hostile. Customer service should be respectful and consistent for everyone, and unfortunately, that was not my experience here. Would not recommend this store to anyone.

During checkout, I noticed that several of my clipped digital coupons failed to apply, resulting in an overcharge of $34.18. When I brought this to the attention of the cashier, Vanessa, she became extremely impatient and demanded to see my clipped coupons. As I was looking for them on my phone, she literally snatched the phone right out of my hands without asking, presumably because she thought I was being too slow. The irony is that she had no idea where to look, whereas I knew exactly where they were because I had just added them minutes prior. After she spent a minute searching unsuccessfully, I reached out to swipe my screen and help. She snapped at me again, aggressively claiming she 'literally found them' but now they were "gone." When she finally located them, she tried to claim the item names didn't match. Thankfully, another employee stepped in, corrected her, and confirmed that the items were correct and I was entitled to the discount. Vanessa reluctantly said she would honor it but offered no apology. Rediculous!! Throughout this entire interaction, she was incredibly rude and constantly interrupted me. Every time I tried to explain, she snapped, "Please stop talking and give me two minutes." What happened to customer service? Is this how Safeway treats its loyal customers? I spend over $200 every single week at Safeway, and being treated with such hostility is absolutely ridiculous.

I was there last time for their freshly cooked paella and it was impeccable. Recently we came back…read moretwice, once on Sunday as I forgot that the paella was a Friday thing, so the staff told me that they usually have paella and clam chowder freshly cooked on Friday. They happened to have a small tub of Friday clam chowder left for sale, for a whopping $16! That price dropped my rating to a 4 star. Service is still 5, but man, the value proposition isn't as high as before. The clam chowder tasted good, creamy and all, but $16 for that is really hard to swallow. The store itself is clean and sells a variety of meat products and imported goods such as from Italy. We came again on Friday evening, at 5pm exact and saw the paella pan laid outside with some amount of paella piled up. The pan felt cold and we were confused if they haven't started cooking or those were the left over. So we went inside to ask and they said the paella was available starting at 5pm, so what's on the pan was cooked. We bought 1 portion, which feeds 2-3 and it came in two 16 oz tubs. For $35, it fed my husband and myself just right. The smoky flavor was on the rice with meat and lots of clams and mussels (but not those fatty mussels that you saw in the Belgium style dish). $35 for dinner of two is not as bad value as the $16 bowl of chowder. So overall, 3.5-4 stars for food and value, 5 stars for service and friendliness.

They are much hyped for monstrous, incredibly layered over-the-top sandwiches with proprietary, house-made marinades, jerky varieties, and custom-smoked meats. Which may explain the lines, long waits, and lack of tables, not in a complainy way. Surprised at myself for not going earlier (the constant Instragram reels adding up), I had to go before I ended my tenth year in San Jose. I got the gutbusting Quad (pastrami, pulled pork, tri-tip, bacon, on a fresh Dutch Crunch). It was too big to eat as a sandwich- it was something you had to manage and attack. Truth is, I couldn't detect the pastrami because it was slathered in tender, lean, bbq meat, nor could I detect the bacon until the sandwich "thinned out" to normal human consumption size, meaning that I ate the meat out through the edges or the contents fell out. It's call quad because you need four napkins per bite.
