This is an incredibly disrespectful and frustrating experience I had at your store located at 15549 Union Ave, Los Gatos, CA 95032. During checkout, I noticed that several of my clipped digital coupons failed to apply, resulting in an overcharge of $34.18. When I brought this to the attention of the cashier, Vanessa, she became extremely impatient and demanded to see my clipped coupons. As I was looking for them on my phone, she literally snatched the phone right out of my hands without asking, presumably because she thought I was being too slow. The irony is that she had no idea where to look, whereas I knew exactly where they were because I had just added them minutes prior. After she spent a minute searching unsuccessfully, I reached out to swipe my screen and help. She snapped at me again, aggressively claiming she 'literally found them' but now they were "gone." When she finally located them, she tried to claim the item names didn't match. Thankfully, another employee stepped in, corrected her, and confirmed that the items were correct and I was entitled to the discount. Vanessa reluctantly said she would honor it but offered no apology. Rediculous!! Throughout this entire interaction, she was incredibly rude and constantly interrupted me. Every time I tried to explain, she snapped, "Please stop talking and give me two minutes." What happened to customer service? Is this how Safeway treats its loyal customers? I spend over $200 every single week at Safeway, and being treated with such hostility is absolutely ridiculous. read more

I watched the deli guy pick and choose literally the smallest drumsticks he could find for the 8 dark piece deal. I've had bigger drumettes from an order of chicken wings before. They shouldn't even be cooking something this small and calling it a drumstick. It's half the length of a dinner fork. I'll never buy chicken here again unless it's prepackaged so I can see what I'm getting. This deli sucks. 2 stars for being a functional grocery store. 3 stars off for shorting me for dinner and for whoever put Cornish game hens in the chicken bin. This is a review for the bakery - they're amazing for kid's cakes! They can make anything you want and they are well priced compared to most other places. I asked for a 1/4 sheet cake, I got to pick the icing (I did whipped), the filling, the type of cake, and the decorations, the color of the decor, etc, all for the cost of their regular premade 1/4 sheet cake! The plus was, i asked for the fruit filling, I thought it was going to be pureed or jam fruit, but it was actual fresh strawberries and bananas in it! They also made my daughter's cake so cute, even though my directions were very vague, and my daughter was so happy. read more

I went to this Safeway prior to starting work to get something warm for breakfast only to be met by an Hispanic manager with an attitude. It was clear she didn't want to help me then proceeded to follow me around the store. Upon approaching her the 2nd time to ask a question she became so snippy, which almost made me just leave. But I decided I wasn't going to allow someone who works in a public space but don't have the skills to treat everyone who walks through her work doors with just a bit of kindness ruin my day. People do better. This Safeway is my go to grocery store mainly because all the associates are so helpful. I met Alfonso in the self-service area and I was having a problem with something I was trying to scan. Alfonso came over right away when he saw me struggling with the item. He was so nice and helped me right away with no hesitation. He showed me what to do next time which I really appreciated. This review is for the deli department, since that the primary department I go to at this store. The deli always has a nice selection of pre-made grab and go sandwiches, salads, wraps and sushi. A cheaper option than going out to a restaurant most days. I get to work early, so it's nice to see somewhat of a selection early in the day. By noon, there are usually a lot more options like sushi which is made fresh in house. I like the $5 specials on poke bowls and rolls, which make for fast and cheap lunches. read more

I'm here almost weekly for lunch to grab a quick sandwich from the Deli. The deli staff Rosa is extremely rude and unfriendly. I usually avoid her if she's staffing. The other guy is much friendlier, but he was off yesterday. I hate interacting with Rosa, who loves rolling her eyes so far back, she could probably see parts of her unhappy and grumpy brain. I asked her to lighly toast my sandwich since I like my cheese melted. She rolled her eyes with annoyance because it was too much trouble for her. She then said "and what else?" In a sassy tone. No Thai Chicken salads in the deli that was the reason I came to the store but plenty off employees chatting with each other. I got a unpleasant feeling from the staff. The last time I came for the best pasta salad and that was out as well. Why not stock more of what people actually like and less of what they don't. There are no signs posted on the store stating limited hours of operations and no signs on the glass stating they are closing early. We are BEYOND DISAPPOINTED with the floral departments At BOTH Los Gatos Safeways!! The absolute WORST!I Three weeks ago, My daughter called to order a boutonnière for her date to their high school dance. At the first call to the N. Santa Cruz Ave Safeway, the floral department, said "sorry, we won't have staff that day." I said, "really? For the Los Gatos high school Coro, you won't be bringing anyone in?" She said, "nope. No orders" So, we called the Union Ave Safeway and placed our order over the phone. She went to pick it up today and it was not there, nor any record of her order. The person working in the department was fairly indifferent, said "sometimes this happens with phone orders, oh well." and gave zero problem solving suggestions. I kept asking for possible other solutions and he Just kept telling us he was out of everything. We even offered to buy the components to make it ourselves and he kept saying, "sorry, I'm out." He had a full bouquet of roses and would not even sell us one to make our own boutonnière. Zero compassion, zero empathy and Rock bottom customer service. Luckily my husband quickly darted to a nearby florist, Best Floral on Branham, who saved the day. She was delightful and amazing. Needless to say we will be hard pressed to purchase anything from any Safeway in the near future. I don't like leaving negative reviews, and I hope that the management reads this and takes the time to reach out to me. I am not sure where to reach out to in regard to my concern. On December 15th I placed an order for multi colored cupcakes on the Safeway website. They were ready in time on the 16th, but when I arrived, they were the wrong colors. It is a small thing and seems silly to complain about- but I ordered red and green, and receive white and brown. The gal at the bakery told me I needed to leave notes on my online order, and it does not matter what color the photo on the website was. Ok, lesson learned. The very next day I returned to the store to pickup the screen-printed cake I'd ordered two weeks before. When I arrived, the gal (who I initially had placed the order with) informed me we had a problem, and essentially that problem was that the screen printer was broken and we could not have the cake we'd ordered for my child's birthday. This is not anyone's fault, and I did not get upset. However I found it odd nobody contacted me ahead of time to let me know. We chose a generic frosting pattern for our cake, which they started to assemble in front of me. We walked away for about twenty minutes and returned for the cake. At this time I saw my son's name was misspelled. Again, I figured these ladies were having a rough day, I didn't want to make a fuss. However, when we got home for the actual party, we discovered our cake was not only not the white cake with lemon filling we'd ordered, it was in fact something else. It was completely and totally saturated in liquid. When we cut it and tried to serve it, it leaked off of the silverware. (Someone at the party said it had the consistency of a very liquidy tres leches cake, so maybe they gave me the wrong cake?) Anyways, it was essentially inedible, and truly the icing on the cake after repeated series of errors. I'd like a refund for the $30 I spent on the cake which we were not able to eat. Everyone has rough days and I don't want to get anyone in trouble, however this put me off from ordering from their bakery ever again, which is a shame because they are so close. read more

This review is for the floral department. I have stopped in for different occasions - many times to pick an arrangement to take to my dad's grave (the Los Gatos Cemetery is just down the road). Whenever I have needed to find the 'perfect' arrangement to take to his grave - no matter what holiday - there has always been something there ready for me to purchase. Other times I have stopped in to make a purchase for an arrangement just for me - like today. It is a few days past Valentine's Day - and I wanted some flowers for ME - and I found a great arrangement of 'orange-y' roses with some pink-ish lilies - what a great gift to myself - ready for the taking! Price is always reasonable - even this bouquet with roses - I spent under $20. read more

Ugh. The one way stickers. At first I was giving the stink eye to people disobeying the signs until I realized nobody pays attention to them until I starting disobeying and then I got the stink eye. Anyway, this Safeway is especially good at disinfecting the carts. They seem to have a guy dedicated to just that. I guess that's the safest way. Anyway, this one is fine and the staff is usually friendly, as long as you keep the line moving. Stop because your coupon won't work or if you are overcharged (very common for us) and they act like you farted in their potato salad at the twins' birthday party (Jesus, Aunt Chrissy, let it go). When we are overcharged, they always side with the customer, and will even go out of their way to make you happy, which is commendable but they're crispy about it. (Relax, Eeyore, it's not your money). Prices are average but look for the crazy sales... $2.88 pints of Ben & Jerry, $1.66 Chips Ahoy, 99 cent Chips Ahoy--- I bought enough $1.25 cereal to last the rest of my cinnamon life. I've dropped them down to three stars because their milk goes bad within two days- my guess is that it isn't cold enough. Maybe the employees with the cold stares should look at the milk and cool it down.. read more

I am very disappointed that this is our neighborhood Safeway. It is the worst Safeway I've ever shopped at. The produce is always horrible and they're always out of stuff. I was picking out mozzarella and noticed two of them expired 7 days ago. I told the lady stocking the cheese and her reply was, "it's only been a few days". Gross !! Yesterday at the Safeway on Union Ave, in Los Gatos. A produce worker intentionally ran his produce cart in to me. The isle was narrow, because they had blocked it off with stanchions. Rather that ask me to move he just rammed the cart into me. This store has the rudest personnel. The deli counter does not acknowledge you when approach the counter. Often, I find expired items on the bread shelves or in the dairy department. Self-checkout has a less than helpful attitude. Store is convenient, for major shopping I trade elsewhere. read more

They randomly decide that they will cancel all delivery orders on the regular. They won't bother to let you know or anything, and they may or may not keep the money you paid for your groceries. Not their problem. So, you're super lucky if they show up and don't charge you for stuff they never delivered. Getting your money back routinely requires that you wait on hold for over 30 minutes or more. No apologies issued and no compensation given. They never answer emails. Had a terrible experience at this Safeway!! I mistakenly got into the wrong line here. I never knew they had 2 express lines!! Usually I only noticed the one all the way at the end right before the self checkout as the 15 items express line. That sign is at eye level and on the register for me too see. The 10 items line right before it was never open before whenever I shop. I've been here for years and I've never noticed it open or that there was a huge sign overhead that says 10 items. Honestly, who the hell do grocery shopping looking up at the ceiling of a supermarket?? Anyhow, I was already in a rush with a loaded cart and that register was open and the cashier told me to come in. How was I supposed to know it was a 10 items line without her warning me at least alerting me to that fact? Why would I intentionally bring a loaded cart of at least 50 items to a 10 items line? I hate it when people do that so I would never ever do something like that. So as she was checking stuff, 5 other people line up. The guy behind me became so incensed it took a bit longer that he started yelling and harassing me. The girl was flustered and didn't say a peep. I tried to explain I didn't see the damn sign and he basically got more angry and became more hostile. The cashier never called management over and I was too taken aback dealing with this crazy jackass because he was screaming and yelling at me and no one interfered to stop him. I literally was defenseless and all the bystanders just gawked at me getting yelled at by an extremely angry psycho. Afterwards, I asked for management and it appeared they were both standing there by the wall watching the shit show and just bidding their time for it to be over. They never stepped in to intervene. What kind of management let their customers be harassed like that while shopping?? And when I came over to talk to them they seemed like they could care less as one manager rushed off to take care of something else. The other manager just told me to forget about that guy, he was a jerk. Ugh!!! Management is responsible for training their cashier to at least let customers know their line is for few items if they see a customer coming with a full Cart in tow. I don't think it's the cashier's fault since she seems young and inexperienced. They need to train their staff on how to do that and to handle volatile situations like that by calling for reinforcements. But what can I expect from these ineffective managers except for the brush off since they just stood there and watched it played out. First time it happened to me and will be the last time. I used to come to this Safeway all the time and knew some of the checkers quite well. When my mom was dying of cancer and at Good Sam, it was 830pm and I came by to pick up some sandwiches. The deli was closed but they opened it up & made me sandwiches. I am forever grateful to them. This Safeway is great for the people that work here. The checkers I was close to are not here any more, and I do most of my shopping at Nob Hill. There are still some gems here who will move heaven and earth to help you. But it's not my first choice when I need to do my grocery shopping any more. I can get better quality meat, fish & produce at other places. They stopped carrying my favorite rice pilaf mix quite a number of years ago which is when I started shopping elsewhere. The prices aren't as great as you'd hope for. The bakery section is awesome, and the donuts and bread are fresh. I'm still here once every 2-3 weeks, and I am grateful that they are open 24 hours a day. There's some mornings where I'm up at 5am and realize that I need more bread or milk, right NOW, and they're open. Small tip, if parking is pretty full, go around the back behind the strip mall. So if you're heading to go out on Union Ave, turn right just past the last shop (right now it's a furniture consignment. Before it was a fly fishing store. Before that, it was a great pet store) and toodle on down past the Goodwill collection truck and then turn right. There's almost always 20 spots open and it's not that bad of a walk across the open plaza. read more

This review is for the deli department! I placed an order for 50 pieces of roasted chicken for a party. Ordered it two days before and my friend picked it up for me. Everything was done and waiting for her. And best of all it only cost $39.99. The staff put them in a plastic tray with a lid, all very nicely done. And the chicken was quite tasty. Awful customer service and the cashier is a liar! I had issues with 2 promotional items. For the 1st, I asked the cashier to scan a coupon, I had their flyer. she initially refused saying that "everything" was in my account without even scanning the item first. Then she scanned it as if she's doing me a favor. Turns out she didn't do it right because it didn't reflect on the receipt. The 2nd item, I misunderstood the deal on the flyer, and this cashier did too. Instead of saying something that made sense, she started lying about it! saying that I had grabbed the wrong item. When it fact it was the very same! The description and even the picture of the item in the flyer showed it was the same, but she kept saying that it was the wrong item! Then she calls the "manager" and she is able to answer my question, but when I asked her about my 1st item, she said she's only the "seafood manager" and sends me to customer service which had a line. I think either this manager should have fix the price discrepancy or told the same cashier to fix it, but instead I had to wait in line at customer service. I felt I was being tossed around, and all because they refused to check the items first or they didn't understand the deal either while lying to me. read more
