Holy guacamole! What a great store! This is my friends favorite store and I was helping her out with the grocery shopping. I've only been to Lunardi's a few times but I have never been disappointed with an item. Let's start with the fresh fruits - they are actually fresh! My whole life I've avoided red delicious apples because they have always disappointed. These were so good it was like a different fruit. Crunchy the way a good apple should be. Sweet and flavorful and juicy, juicy, juicy. The red delicious has redeemed itself in my book and deserves to survive instead of burned to the last tree down to the ground. I always thought I hated apples but it turns out I hate bad apples. Of course, the grapes and the blueberries are equally good, but they are not the eye opening experience as with the red delicious, mostly because I've gone grape/berry picking. Then let us not forget the made to order sandwiches! I was awed by the selection of toppings. They actually had cucumber available. Not the most common veggie for sandwiches. Also they had low sodium ham. So for those of you on restricted diets, check out the sandwich bar. Since my friend shops here regularly, I knew Lunardis would have some of the more difficult items on the grocery list. I was impressed by how the selection was so well balanced. It ranged from popular supermarket staples to some fairly exotic choices. Sugar free, gluten free, low carb, low sodium. You can find it here. Prices ranged from reasonable for the supermarket regulars to some exotic prices for the exotic items. I was pretty stunned by the final price for one bag of groceries. Service goes the extra mile. For heaven's sake you just hand your basket to the staff and they take from there at the checkout. No need to pull the items out for the convenience of the staff. I had a tough time finding items since I've been in this store maybe three times. Always polite no matter how basic the question. Extremely helpful, one staffer walked me over to the correct selection. I might not have the budget to shop here as my go to supermarket but it's certainly worth a pilgramage to pick some some special items (the apples...) As you would expect for a high end store, it was damned near perfect. I never saw an item that was shopped empty on the shelves. Bottles and boxes were neatly lined up in orderly rows. It was almost shocking to see someone had plucked an item from the perfectly stocked shelf. Of course it was spotlessly clean; the floor was almost mirrorlike with a sheet of smooth polish. There was no odor, not from the butchers, the fish, the sandwich bar, not even the bakery! Some complete perfectionist clearly manages and loves this chain of stores. I noticed even the customers were either very polite or the store had deftly trained them. Covid rules were still in effect. A large percentage of customers still wore their masks. I felt very safe and wished I had brought along my N95 respirator or at least a mask. read more

Their sandwiches, soups, and prepared food are all really good; better than other supermarket stuff I have seen. Their produce and meat markets are top notch as well and there are always very helpful and courteous staff around. The store is clean, well-stocked, and bright. The only thing about Lunardi's is the price. You will pay a little extra for most things, but if convenience and quality are important to you, Lunardi's is a good choice. read more

I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to Jacob in the meat department at Lunardi's. His service has been nothing short of extraordinary. My little dog Harlow has been very ill with serious GI issues and had to be placed on a strict novel-protein diet. She wouldn't eat canned rabbit food, and I was desperate to find something that would work. Lunardi's carries rabbit, and Jacob has gone above and beyond by carefully cutting and preparing frozen rabbit into pieces I can cook fresh for her at home. His kindness, patience, and willingness to help during a very stressful time for me and my pup have meant the world. This isn't just great customer service -- it's genuine compassion and care. I cannot say enough about Lunardi's. I highly value a local market with fabulous meat and produce. There's a butcher onsite who is knowledgeable and can order special cuts if they don't have them. Service is top notch. The wine department may appear small, but it is brilliant. And if you need assistance picking a wine, it's available. The produce is second to none! Their buyers are terrific. The bakery and cakes are great! Special orders are no problem. The cashiers have been working at The store forever and know everyone. And the baggers are great, too. Pricey grocery store! Annie's Mac and cheese was an appalling $4.99 per box! However, it was easy breezy beautiful to order their Thanksgiving day meal. Jackie was kind and friendly over the phone. The store was mellow and quiet on Thanksgiving morning. I appreciated that with my 6 year old twins in tow. I could not believe how easy it was to bake the turkey, warm the other goods and serve. I highly enjoyed the turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and stuffing. The cranberry & green beans were blah. And I def would have appreciated more dinner rolls! read more

Great experience this morning. The deli department was full of choices for a take out breakfast. Delicious breakfast burritos chock full of meat, cheese, eggs and potatoes. Fresh sweet fruit cut up in a perfect sized container, and a beautiful Danish ring so fresh and absolutely beautiful!! The Danish was delicious. Everything was! On Monday Dec 30th 2024, The cashier lady wanted to see me and my Fiancé ID when buying alcohol and it's only suppose to be the person buying the alcohol to show their ID to show they are 21 or older. I forgot my ID in the car. The cashier lady demanded to see both of our IDs. We're like why do you need to see both of our IDs if my fiancé has his ID. We were visiting the area. We just came from a friend wedding. The lady did not want to let my fiancé get alcohol because apparently she assumed that I am younger than 21 I am older than 21. I have never in my life heard that two people have to show their IDs if only one person is getting alcohol. In other cities one person shows their ID if they want alcohol. I hope this lady gets fired. She was so rude. read more

I stopped by at this Lunardi's to pick up some things on my way home. I typically shop at Safeway or WholeFoods and can't remember the last time I've been inside a Lunardi's. However, the produce and meat was very fresh, and their employees were outstanding. I didn't catch their names, but the gentleman with the fantastic mustache, and the gentleman bagging were very polite, helpful, and enthusiastic. Because of these gentlemen and the business practices I noticed, my business will be going to Lunardi's from now on. They are local and family owned, and also employ people with special needs, which was the most important aspect for me. I would much rather support an employee/community focused grocery store than Jeff Bezos and Albertsons Companies, Inc.. Keep it up Lunardi's! read more

Love love this Italian supermarket for its fresh fruits, vegetables and meat! I love it's French & Italian bread/baguettes as well. The employees working in the meat department are always ready to help and cut up whatever I need whether it's pork ribs, beef short ribs or a whole chicken. When you're ready for checkout head to the front registers where the flowers are so pretty and cashiers are very friendly. Now, if you have taken a peek at my photos you're probably wondering what my obsession is with the lamb? Our family has some adventurous foodies and our son has taken to liking lamb and bison. He doesn't have cheap tastes that's for sure. I was surprised and so impressed by the variety of lamb cuts that Lunardi offered. Had to take photos so I can remember them all and look for recipes to make for him. So far I've only been good at rack of lamb. But I may be brave enough to try cooking a shank or something else soon. Looks so intimidating! I love all the different cuts of beef and the fact that they have beef short ribs for my braised ribs dish and beef tenderloin as well. The fresh sausages are also awesome! I love this market / great deli / great meat department. The only downside is it's usually more expensive for the "normal" items you might get elsewhere for less. I like the produce. That's about it. They have a lot of products, which is great, but evertime i shop here I feel like they think I should thank them... the butchers to the cashiers... act like they are doing me a favor allowing me to shop there. I just don't get it. Prices are very high.. I buy high end products like tomahawk steaks for 80 dollars.... and everytime I leave the store I feel slighted by the employees. I don't need my ass kissed, but act like you appreciate your customers... I avoid them now. I grew up here, my parents shopped here. I just moved to this area and decided to stop by this store for groceries and I really regretted it. I want to point out a few things that struck me the most: 1-The staff at this store has never heard of politeness. 2-The products in this store are exactly the same as in other competing stores, but the prices are 2-3 times more expensive and I don't understand why! If you decide to visit this store for the first time, then pay attention to the above. High prices, bad service. Came for 3 things at 5pm on a Monday. They should be staffed now for evening rush, but things not too busy yet. Only 2 checkout lanes open - 1 general lane with line of overflowing carts, 1 "express" lane. NO self service checkout option. Express lane cashier trying to be nice, but chatting up customers and further slowing the line. Nice idea, wrong place for it. Another lane opens and floor manager could have ushered us at back of line over but no - people who had not been waiting flooded the new lane so I wait more. Longest I can remember taking to check out a handful of items anywhere in a long time. Only nice thing I can think to say is it's a large store with good selection of high quality items. But if you're going to charge highest prices of all choices in the area, then provide service to match. read more

I love Lunardi's as they have that old school grocery feel, but with the best quality products. There meet selection is the best. I've never been to this Los Gatos location, but I felt like needed to review a spot I've not been to, so I decided to give this location a shot. It's one of the larger ones and it was plenty stocked. They even had toilet paper in the middle of the day. It was a smooth shopping experience and staff was on top of everything even with the hand sanitizer. Thumbs up. read more

If you are considering getting a custom cake here -- do yourself a favor and DO NOT!! They will give you a pretty cake but without a good foundation it will not be usable. This review is for Lunardi's bakery. I have been going to Lunardi's for my kids custom birthday cakes for a few years now. I personally like my cakes to look AND taste good, which is why I prefer the buttercream frosting over fondant. What I love about Lunardi's is the fact that I can print out a photo of the cake decoration/style I want and even if it's a fondant cake, if there's any possible way to make something similar with buttercream, they will make it happen. Rude staff tolerated by management. They have some lovely cashiers and meat counter staff, but others shouldn't be in customer service roles. And it seems like they're all clustered in the deli department. Very large younger man today couldn't be bothered to ask for numbers, and then begrudgingly made me a sandwich. He slowly went through the motions, left my sandwich on the opposite end of the counter and walked away. My grandmother used to shop here, and would have never been treated so rudely for no reason other than the worker hates life / his job. I went to Lunardi's to grab a few things. It was organized and the selection was great, but after my visit I've decided I'm team TJ's. In addition to dry items I got a shallot, blueberries and raspberries, all of which had mold on them. It was in the center of the berry cartons so I didn't notice until the next morning. I was surprised since this place is a bit pricier. I didn't have time to go back so that's ten bucks down the drain. Also, as I was checking out the cashier was being rude to the bagger. He came over and was being helpful but she was ragging on him for taking too long. You could tell he was new, but he was doing his job well and was very polite. I lived down the street for about a year before I finally ventured in. I'd been shopping at Whole Foods, TJ's and occasionally Safeway. Produce is often meh at those stores. Sometimes they have organic apples, sometimes they don't, or if they do they're already soft and rotting. Their mini cucumbers, Brussels sprouts etc are almost always already rotting. I entered Lunardi's and was struck by how clean, organized and spacious it was. They have fresh, organic and non, fruits and veggies of all types. Fresh baguettes that are also always sold out at Whole Foods, delicious baked goods. All the usual grocery items. No hoards of shoppers to steer through trying to get there. Line was short & the customer service is second to none. They hire people of all abilities which was so nice to see as I'm the mom of a special needs child and it's nice to see what could be...loved the store will be a regular from now on. read more

I did go in today. The butchers should stick to cutting meat, not cooking or doing math. The cashier should get the facts straight, instead of us having to walk back and forth twice. A butcher credited only one charge. I had to show him the second charge. Go figure! Tonight we had the chicken breast with wild rice. I almost threw up. I assume it was not fresh when I bought it. Gastly! Earlier this week, we had two apple-stuffed chicken breasts, and they were good. Either way, I don't like skin on the breasts. From now on, I will cook my chicken breasts in my Insta-pot and do the filling separately. Th store is super clean. I bought some cole slaw. I prefer Lucky's cole slaw. I really liked Lunardi in Los Gatos but since I found out they use the ingredient Carrageenan in all their home made ice creams I am not so inclined to shop there. Carrageenan is used basically in labs to create cancers in rats for their research. Still FDA approved in USA but forbidden in Europe. A load of scientists are trying to have FDA listen to them ... GOAT. Favorite supermarket of all time. Not only do they have the freshest of produce and meats but they also have the most friendly staff ever! If I had to choose 30 people to get to know it'd be all those who work at the LG Lunardi's! They offer fresh cut cheese/deli meats/charcuterie. They offer you a slice to taste! The sandwiches are freaking awesome! You can literally have 3 types of meat and 3 types of cheeses all the produce you want and then add 15 types of cured meats on top! They have an awesome baked bread section as well as in house-made sauces like; pesto, marinara, alfredo + soups and such. They also have their own bakery which serves the best brownie in town! Like I said, the service is great here, all the people working register are the funniest and sweetest people i have come across in a while. I try to visit at least 2-3 times a week! read more

Had a terrible experience here this morning. Cashier was extremely rude to me. Was beyond curt as I was checking out, and even went as far as snapping some items off me that my toddler had picked up as we were going around shopping. I was putting them back as we were leaving the store, and she literally grabbed them out of my hand because they weren't in the "right" place. I was aghast at the way she approached me, and started to rant about it! My baby actually looked frightened when she pulled them from me. But instead of having the decency to help me out with my groceries - especially given I had my toddler in my arms too - this is what I had to deal with. I'm a local, who used come here frequently, but I will never shop here again. Simply awful. Probably the worst customer service I've ever experienced. read more

On May 25 at 5:49 PM I was shopping with my four year old son at Lunardis. I love going to Lunardis because they have the freshest produce. Unfortunately, my son was accosted by one of the managers in the store named Skip. He was not wearing a mask and proceeded to pick up my son (without my permission), out of the grocery cart and "tickled" him across his collar bone area, causing huge red markings. My son was in tears and completely violated. I did not give permission for him to take my son out of the grocery cart, let alone "tickle" him. What was worse, is that he wasn't wearing a mask. When I went to speak to the other manager, female, she did not even give me an apology. She wasn't wearing her mask either. Instead she gave me the phone number to Steve Pinney the director. When I called the director, to say that I was ready to make a case against Lunardis, for accosting my son and touching him in a manner that was abusive, Steve said that he would offer me a roast dinner. He then said he would speak to Skip and tell him not to do that again. I am so upset. I feel violated my son was hurt and all of this while not one of the managers was wearing a mask. They have violated the law and violated my four year old boy. That was a very bad move on Steve's part, and to offer me a roast dinner? How do we know that Skip isn't touching other children without the parents permission? Very upset and very hurt. Attached is the photo taken of my son's neck. Very nice old fashioned Italian supermarket. They have a full butcher section, deli, wine section and many imported items that are not available in other stores. I like the variety of items and premade meals at the deli. The cheese selection is probably the best out there. Produce is high quality and reasonably priced. The butcher section is pretty expensive so I don't usually go there. They also sell beckmans German bread, my favorite. read more
