I LOVE Jilly Beans!! Their frappes are very good, 9/10 recommend, and they're food is also very good! The food takes a bit of time to get out, especially if you order the sandwiches and such, but they're always worth it!! It's a cute, cozy little coffee shop on the side of the street downtown, so what's not to love? It has a nice rustic-y look, and I go there for Bible studies occasionally. The staff is very nice! I worked from Jilly Beans everyday this week (m-f). Staff is always friendly. Food and coffee was awesome. Atmosphere was great. Chill coffee shop vibe. Bathroom was always clean. I have had the hazlenut latte (tripple shot) chai tea, loaded potato quiche I've had 3 times, soo good! Lunch special soup and half chicken salad is very good as well. I've had the chicken dumpling and pasta bean soup. They serve it in a cute little mug. Tastes homemade! Muffins are great too! Can't go wrong. I've also seen other people order the smoothies-- looks amazing. My only complaint is when there are more than 5-6 people on devices, the internet is slow there. read more

Incredible service. Food and coffee were both good. I had the tomato, spinach, and feta quiche and the peanut butter cookie. The feta was the dominare flavor in the quiche. The cookie was the sort of dry kind of peanut butter cookie- not my favorite - but I still ate the whole thing. The secret garden is what really makes this place IMO. Loved the hardscaping, but the plants in the garden could use some TLC. It's such a beautiful spot with great bones. I would love to see them do more with it. Sustainability note: they use real plates, silverware, and mugs here. Awesome! The food is covered in plastic wrap before purchase. Not so awesome, but understandable. read more

Great coffee, friendly staff, free wifi, and cute outdoor garden area to enjoy in the summer! Best cafe in town, in my humble opinion. I've tried several of their different drinks including smoothies, and they've all been delicious. My favorite is their maple leaf latte-- of course, suited for fall, but perfect year round! They originally had this as one of their autumn specialty drinks, but because this drink is also the favorite of the owner/manager (I think?) Jill, it's available year round! They have various wraps and quiches pre-made, which you can see in the glass display at the counter. Next to this display there's also a host of various muffins (cappuccino chocolate, poppy seed, cranberry, along with the more traditional ones) and cookies. During the cold months they have different soups every weekday-- tomato tortellini, chicken dumpling, broccoli cheese, chili, and potato bacon. It comes with a piece of bread or crackers. I HIGHLY recommend their chicken dumpling. Sure, chicken dumpling soup is naturally tasty, but theirs is especially delicious. Across from the counter is a large wooden shelf that has rotating items for sale. I've seen cute mugs made from the local shop Toasted Mud, planners, T-shirts, chocolate-covered coffee beans, knitted hats, and other items on display throughout the year. There's a drink rewards system-- 10 drinks and the 11th is free! You can keep the punch card yourself, or there's a little sorter right in front of the register that a lot of patrons keep theirs. Monday is double punch day! The staff is extremely kind and have the nice townie mentality-- they always ask how the day is going, try to memorize your regular drink order and your name and any other info you care to share! read more

We , however, have chose to sit outside in their secret garden which is absolutely breathtaking! Jilly Beans has really impressed me. I was needing a place to have a family reunion for elderly and out of town relatives. I happened to think of Jilly Beans and thought I would ask. Not only was Mary Ellen on Board but worked with me on a very reasonable menu, and a time after hours. It was perfect, No set up, No cleanup, No passing dishes to bring. I am not a coffee drinker, but I can vouch for the selection of teas! Nice set of choices. The pastries are great! My spouse had a wonderful cinnamon roll and I had a scrumptious lemon cake. I've also had the hot chocolate and it was presented beautifully! The place has a great vibe. There are tables and chairs and/or comfortable sofas and chairs. My favorite coffee house in Hillsdale! The inside has a very nice, homey feel. Tons of cute decorations-- like lights strung all around the inside of the building. In the very back, there is a super soft and plush couch that is perfect for sitting with your friends to chat, or lounging around to study. Otherwise there are tons of two-person tables to sit at and sip your coffee or study. Onto the menu: They have all your typical mocha, latte, etc. and have some special drinks up on their board (I recommend their Snickers, for one: it really tastes like a Snickers bar, and is the perfect thing to warm you up!). They have a nice selection of blended drinks, if it's hot out, I recommend either their Blended strawberry lemonade or ask for a Gingerbread Chai Frazeeze. They also serve some lunch foods-- paninis, grilled cheese sandwiches, soup, wraps, brownies, cookies, scones, and a ton of muffins! Always a great value. I spent this past school year here every day with a drink and some kind of snack at hand as I studied or read. The staff: Absolutely some of the nicest ladies I have ever met! They are all extremely sweet, and able to handle rushes with ease. At other coffee shops, I have had blended drinks that weren't properly blended (you can tell when the drink is more like a slushie than a drink, and not even a slushie that you can EAT), but I have never had the problem here. They offer a rewards card, buy ten drinks, get the eleventh free, and I never had a problem filling them out! Their paninis are absolutely, ridiculously delicious. Even the half size is enough to fill you up! Ham, turkey, spinach, swiss cheese, and a vegetable blend (which has onions, green peppers, and mushrooms) sandwiched between two slices of sourdough bread is enough to hit the spot! I love everything about Jilly Beans, and recommend it to, seriously, everyone I know. It's that good! read more

This is my go-to coffee shop as a student of the nearby college. There are other coffee places closer to campus, but for me, this is worth the walk. The coffee here is the best in town, and you can't beat the homespun country courtesy of the employees.
