Karen's has some great food. Breakfast is always excellent, and the price isn't bad either. Service is top-notch and they've recently spruced-up their decor. I appreciate the effort they put into their daily specials- love the homemade bread options (worth it), especially when combined with their chicken salad. We were in from out of town and chose Karen's since it was so highly rated. To start, our waitress avoided eye contact and was so irritated at us, I was concerned we should leave. We decided to stick it out and ordered basic breakfasts. The toast had a big hunks of deep fryer goob on it (still don't understand how) and the hash browns were burnt on the outside, raw on the inside. The pancakes were rubbery, couldn't be cut with a fork, and were speckled with enough flat top debris to looked peppered. Of course to top it off, there was a long hair across my whole plate. I stopped there for fear of becoming ill. In the restroom I began to quickly realize how filthy the entire establishment was. Visible grime and a slight stickyness everywhere. We left our food, paid, and quickly left. I would bet the back of house doesn't get cleaned either, most certainly not the deep fryers or flat top. Absolutely avoid at all costs. read more

Karen's has the best breakfast and lunch in the Hudson area by far. She and her husband Dave welcome everyone to their restaurant like you were family. Home made bread, including excellent raisin bread loaded with raisins, home made sausage gravy which is the best I've ever had at a restaurant and even rivals my own recipe, options on how you'd like your bacon and hash browns done, and the breakfast kasserole that combines the best of all she has to offer. Just an example of what sets this place apart. For lunch get ready for any one of a dozen made from scratch soups like ham and bean, split pea, beef vegetable, potato, broccoli, and chicken noodle along with the daily availability of beefy chili during winter months. Choose from a variety of daily specials which allow your choice of potato or a cup of soup and you've got a great lunch. Was staying in the area and needed a place for breakfast. This place has an old town feel to it, but the home style cooking to match. The service was great, food hit the spot, and the local atmosphere was amazing. They also took credit card which was a plus, as the first place we went did not. read more

This is where "the locals" go. Good lunch in Hudson. Probably the only good lunch in Hudson unless you're into Subway (there's 2 of them in town less than half a mile from eachother) Karen's makes their own bread. Soups taste homemade too. Fun fact: Karen's used to be a Kroger long long ago (look at the historic pictures of Hudson in the lobby.) Closes kind of early, so watch out for that. read more

This is your quintessential small town cafe. Located in the downtown strip, the owl-themed restaurant offers a view of the main street with tons of character. The wait staff was friendly and knew the menu well and we did not wait long for our food. Would highly recommend the fries. read more

The food is great. The owls are a little creepy, but not enough to make me not return. We've been 3 times and have had a good experience twice. The waitress, kayla (I think) was great. Attentive and making sure our glasses were full and seeing if we needed anything. We had another waitress this last time and she was not great. It was a sad experience from what we re used to. I think it's great that Karen is there and involved in the daily operation. She is typically happy, but the last time we were there, she was a little cranky. I'm not sure if it's because she had been told more than once the waitress was not great, or if she was having a bad day. We will be back, and I'll ask which area to sit in for kayla. read more

Stopped in as we were at a competition at the local high school. Prices are very reasonable. Breakfast is the standard diner options, but was fast and friendly. Sausage gravy is good. Skip the biscuits, and have it on the hash browns or "kasserole". Pancakes are pretty good- consider adding the blueberries. All in all, perfect quick breakfast that will carry you through past lunch. read more

I moved to Michigan about a year ago. I've been to Karen's about 3 times. The first time I didn't think much of the food but decided to give it another try. The second time It was yet again very mediocre. We decided to go one more time and this last time was the worst. The bacon and hash browns were not fully cooked and there was a small curly hair in my food. To top that off the waitress had very poor attitude and kept kicking my baby stroller when there was plenty of room to go around the table next to us instead of right behind the stroller which obviously left little room to pass. If I could, I'd give this place Zero stars. read more

We had a coupon from restaurant.com for 25$ . But the Kafe made us spend 50$ in order to use the coupon. Food varies. It was a poor experience. :( read more
