2/2026 we took our Bronco in for service, tire rotations and oil change as it was time for service. We'd only been in San Angelo 3 weeks since moving from the Great Lakes, Michigan. I easily made the appointment online and received my email confirmation. The day of service was light rain and I used map quest to find the dealership. The young lady service advisor checked me in and I waited in the customer lounge. My wait time was normal compared to other dealership service centers across the country about 45 minutes. The service team members were all friendly and the lounge area nice and clean with a television, coffee, soda and snacks for your selection, pretty much the norm. After service they pulled my Bronco into the service garage and quickly got me checked out and on my way. A few miles away on my way home I was waiting to make a left turn onto Sherwood Way. The light turned green, my phone was ringing so I answered (yes hands free) and it was the young lady service advisor. She was in panic mode asking me to quickly come back because the service technician forgot to put the filter on and the wheel lock. Then I started to panic about not having an oil filter or wheel locks. Keep in mind I'm not a mechanic and I'm so thankful we have people who like that sorta thing, it's just not me. I quickly made a U-turn the first chance I got and returned to the service garage. I checked back in with the same service advisor and she was very apologetic and let the technician know I had returned. He quickly arrived with the AIR FILTER and wheel lock in hands and put them back on. Why he had the AIR FILTER I don't know because I didn't request an air filter replacement. Anyway, I was so relieved it wasn't the missing oil filter. We all get busy with work and life and we do forget things so I'm good with the outcome. Maybe they will offer me a complimentary air filter or something my next visit. Minus one star is better than minus 3 or 4 stars right? The whole crew helped me. Samantha Stewart sent a very nice man to pick me up and take me to the dealership to rent a car and showed me how to work everything. When I decided I needed to trade it in the mechanic had a salesman by the name of Ernest Sustaita call me. He immediately went to work finding me the used car I asked for with a prize we could afford. The sales manager Mack Harper had a big hand in making my life so much better. Do not take your vehicle to the service department, they're absolutely unprofessional and terrible at their jobs. I drive a 250 and was taking it to their service department for all my PM's, no matter what it was or cost, I'd fix it. First bad experience I had was I paid for my air filters to get swapped, there is two, they were charging me for two without changing the deeper filter. Second bad experience was I had and oil change, fuel filter swap, whole nine yards. I leave the dealership and my hood go flying up because they didn't shut it, I was pissed but never said anything and moved on. I work in the oilfield and after 2 days of driving in nothing but dust I went to check my cold air intake filter, and realized they never even put my oil cap back on! Drove around for 2 days with no oil cap on my motor, getting dirt in my oil and motor. I called them. They seemed inconvenienced that I even called about it. I was at work in Midland and told them they needed to change my oil immediately. They said they close at 7 and could I make it. I said yes. When I called them back and told them what time I was going to make it (18:45) she got upset and said she had to ask her manager if they could even do it. She called me back and said they would stay open for me. I asked her to have a rental truck ready for me (I have to get up at 02:30am to make it to work!) and she told me that they weren't going to give me a loaner truck that I would have to wait. So they already inconvenienced me severely once from their own mess up, then told me they were going yo do it again. What's a shame is I literally spent anywhere from $300-$1,500 month there, I drive so much that I turned it in every single month. Does everybody know that you can't have mismatched tires and tread wear on an AWD vehicle? I learned that when I bought my AWD Cadillac.JIM BASS FORD doesn't know! I traded my Tundra with a camper shell for a new Nissan Frontier on 5/9/24 with an agreement that I would keep the camper top. I retained the text conversation (see attachment). It clearly stated that I keep my camper. 2 weeks later after the deal is completed (they were paid in full on day one) and they decided to keep the camper. Just because you have a verbal and written agreement with Jim Bass Ford evidently means nothing. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!!! I will continue to pursue my property and will post any updates. Their policy is very disappointing. Our banker doesn't do drafting. He did send a picture of the check written for the vehicle being purchased and even offered to bring them the check to hold the vehicle for the buyer until they could get there. Ford said no. Ford could not take it offline or hold the car with just a picture of the check or the check in had, that there would need to be drafting instructions. If someone wanted to buy it before the purchaser could get there Ford would sell it. Also Ford did not fill the car up with gas for the purchaser. I will never set foot on the property of Jim bass Ford Nissan again or go to their website. The service policy sucks. Our banker has been doing business with Ford since 1974 and in these last few years has had issues with Ford accepting checks. My son went to Jim Bass Ford last year to buy a brand new ford truck because we do like ford products and he was told "come back the next morning and we'll have the truck ready for you". He came back the next morning waited 3 hours then left and went to GMC and bought a brand new 2024 GMC sierra because ford did not produce the truck after 3 hours and being told it would be ready for him the next morning. After two days of negotiation and financing terms approved by Ford and confirmed by the Sales Person Corey Writgit I was called to pick up the truck and upon arrival GM says Texas law does not allow co-signers financing. Big BS we have owned many new cars here. We felt that it prevented a great act of discrimination, but we are way happier now with a much better price on a GMC SIERRA DENALI. Be aware! read more

If it sounds funny probably best to double check the recommendations from the Jim Bass Ford service shop. My vehicle was last serviced in December with no issues. Went in this April for an oil change and was told my vehicle had a slow oil leak. I asked a few questions to better understand this small oil leak situation. They told me they would have to put dye in the oil and then I would come back a few days later for this leak to be diagnosed for $120. I didn't feel like they were being transparent so after a few days I checked the oil leak myself. It was apparent the oil drain plug was loose which was allowing oil to slowly leak from the plug. I cleaned the oil up and tightened the plug and like magic no oil leak. Trust but verify at this service center. I generally take my vehicle to the dealership for service, but not after this experience. If you have to go to Ford-Arrow Ford's service center in Abilene was amazing to work with. Completely transparent about all recommendations. read more

Got a text that a truck that I had inquired in on was now available. I immediately texted back, then called dealership. Got in touch with my sales rep named Josh Rix. The truck was being looked at by another, he said if they don't have financing by 1 PM, it was mine. I got my loan guy to agree to getting the info needed immediately once they knew the guy backed out. 1 PM rolled around - no call. I text josh, he doesn't respond. I call, he doesn't answer, texts me back he will call me in a few. I text a couple more times. He finally calls me back and says the truck is mine, he even is holding the keys, and he will send me the PO to get approved . 615 PM I do as he requests and send my personal info ( address, etc for PO, not social fortunately ) to his personal email address. ... never receive PO. - I text in the morning - no response. again - no response. At 3 PM I call him, he tells me they sold it early this morning. Ok -it happens... but a decent person would have called me back, or returned my texts to his personal cell phone. I know he was reading them, as I got the text receipt. So in closing .... They have employees that ask for personal info of customers be sent to their own personal email addresses, they continuously tell customers they will respond, and don't. Most likely are baiting cars to try to get leads ( of course this is what happened ) . What kind of business allows their employees to act like this? I recently bought a truck here that was a blue certified vehicle with an extra four month warranty. Since I had a work truck I didnt drive it much and was punished for it. I put less then 2000 miles on a vehicle i had for 6 months and so far the ignition coil wires were coming out so i had to get a new pig tail and replace the wires myself since the warranty was no more, then the oil cooler lines come out and leak all the engine oil in a matter of seconds and now im stuck on the side of the road. idk what kind of inspections theyre doing but appearantly theyre not very good ones. so far ive spent more in parts and tows then i have in gas for the truck. 2-19-2023 After looking into what the problem might be, come to find out this truck looks like it has been into a wreck and they neglected to tell me this information when purchasing it. Even though a blue certified vehicle clearly states in the inspection that they make sure the oil lines and the frame are in good shape, this wasnt the case for my 2019 chevy silverado blue certified vehicle. The oil line was completely ruptured from the fitting and the framing near the control arm is severely bent. Control arm and tie rod ends have been replaced and they couldnt even put the shroud underneath the fan back on correctly. its was bent to hell. I shouldve known when my buddy (who is a body man) told me that the grill gaurd was crooked. Now i know why. Dont forget i put less then 2000 miles on this truck. This has been a total waste of money and i will be getting rid of this truck. i suggest to anyone that they do not buy used vehicles from this dealership because they do poor work. i posted pictures of what i found when crawling under the vehicle. read more

I made an appointment to have my oil changed at Jim Bass. 90 minutes later, it was still in the garage with the lights blinking to be taken back for service. I asked the Service Advisor how much longer, and all I was told was "we're backed up and one of our racks is down." I went in because I purchased the truck (new) and it came with points I could use for service. I went out, got in the truck and left. We don't live in San Angelo but our son is attending ASU so we took his Mercury Mariner to Jim Bass Ford thinking if anybody can fix a Mercury it would be a Ford dealer. So he took it in for vibration and overheating. Two weeks later I called to find out what was going on. I was told they haven't checked it yet but they will get to it that day and let me know what they find. It wasn't long before I got a call saying they can't find anything wrong with car and that it appears to working fine. My son picked up the car and by the time he got home it was overheating. He took the car to an independent shop and they replaced the aux fan saying that the broken fan was the overheating problem and what made the car shake when driving with the ac on. My son picked up the car and by the time he got home it was overheating. So I decided to give Jim Bass another try. Three weeks later and multiple calls to Gabe, who was out to lunch, sick, or just off that day, I finally asked Tony to give me some answers on the car. Tony said there were no notes on the work order other than a bad water pump. Since neither Gabe nor the technician were there that day that was the only answer he could give me other than the fact that they could not replace it since they no longer had Mercury parts. So my son picked up the car, still overheating. I went to San Angelo to help my son replace the water pump, which we bought at an auto parts store. When I raised the hood I noticed there was no fluid in the coolant overflow tank. We drained about a pint of coolant from the system, took the water pump out which was spinning freely and appeared to be ok, so we replaced it and the thermostat just in case. I called Tony and asked him how the Ford factory trained technician determined it was the water pump. There was no explanation on the work order and no other information about any diagnostic testing. So we filled the system with coolant and there on the upper left side of the radiator was fluid leaking out of a crack. We went back to the parts store to get a new radiator and in conversation with the gentleman behind the counter, he told a similar story about Jim Bass Ford service department. I can only assume the service tech didn't do a pressure check or even look at the coolant overflow tank. Now the car is back on the road and I'm writing this review instead of calling the service manager to complain, so that other people thinking a Ford Factory Service Center is a sure thing for quality, fair and thorough service will reconsider taking their automobile to Jim Bass Ford. P.S. I was still mad writing this so I decided to look up the pump he said they couldn't get. I attached a picture from Ford Factory website parts. Still available. Service is ridiculously slow. transparency is non existent when it comes to the customers. parts are always on back order, and unless you call and make a complaint, they wont consider contacting the escalation team to have your order placed on emergency order. Joe Key, the service manager, has no contact with any of his customers. He forwards you to a service rep, which in turn will refer you to talk to someone with ford customer care, which in turn they'll forward you to someone in "Ford Protective Administration", which in turn will forward you to "truck concern department". Basically, they give you the run around instead of a more simple solution of just placing everyones order on emergency order. what qualifies an order to be an emergency order? who's repair is more important than the last? every repair should be treated like an emergency because it ultimately IS. Having updates, and follow ups with your customers is essential especially when having to wait on a part for 6 MONTHS with no guaranteed date of arrival. And not to mention no offers for a rental car. all at the expense of the customer. this dealership will just poke you in the eyes. they wont check to see if you have any Extended care packages or any benefits unless you specifically tell them to. they play stupid and just tell you your going to pay out of pocket. they do this to see if you'll notice so that they can charge you MORE. just take your vehicle to a local mechanic shop. i dont wish this ongoing trouble with anybody. read more

The service appointment was set for today 9/21/22 at 8:30 AM I received a service text from them the day before..When I arrived I was told that they were 3 weeks to a month out and to park my truck and they'll get to it in that time frame! I commented that I have no vehicle other than my truck and cannot leave it in their parking lot for a month. The service tech said " I don't know what to tell ya " . I asked for them to contact me the day before they would be able to work on or even diagnose the truck problems. The tech said if I didn't leave it today I lose my place and won't be seen for months! My husband tried to speak with the owner with no luck. He happens to be on vacation! I bought the 2008 Lincoln Town Car currently for sale on your website with 63,126 miles on it, I kept it until my husband died about 3 months later. Price we paid was $13,000. I am 39 years old and Jim Bass Ford was the best car buying experience I have ever had in my entire life hands down. I found a truck online on a Thursday, by Thursday afternoon I was on the road driving 8 hours to go get the truck. Friday morning I was at the door right when they opened. They had the truck out front waiting, they looked at my trade in immediately, and they already had all the finance paperwork printed out and waiting. I was in and out, back on the road within an hour. They gave me a fair trade in value, they got me fair financing, and the price of my new truck was more than fair. Honest, hard working texans who exemplify the customer comes first values... I would drive 40 hours to get another car buying experience like that. Mr. Bass would be very proud of you... read more

It seems that these guys are dishonest, prey on college students and truly are thieves. Look at the similarity of so many of the reviews below. This many people cannot be wrong. This dealership will go to any length to generate revenue regardless of who it hurts financially, emotionally or otherwise. How does Ford allow them to use its name and how are they not be criminally investigated. See my experience below. I would not EVER take a vehicle here for service or otherwise. Not even to put air in your tires unless you want to have something coincidentally go wrong that they will have to repair. The facts, my college student son took his truck in for a recall issue. The truck was 100% in good working condition. Absolutely no problems mechanically or otherwise. He only took in to to get a recall issue addressed for safety. Fact, when he picked up his truck it was sputtering and not driving correctly. He took the truck back to the service dept. to address this new issue. Fact, the "Service Advisor", Justin, told him that he had a bad fuse in the fuel pump that needed to be relocated and his "throttle body was out of whack man". The repair would be greater than $600. Fact, after speaking with the Service Manager, Joe Key, he said this simply must be coincidental and they would not remedy the problem. Again, the truck was in perfect driving condition prior to taking it in. My conclusion based on this experience and after reading the numerous reviews below of dishonesty by this dealership. My son's car was perfectly fine when he took it in to get a recall issue addressed. When he picked it up it was hardly drivable and needed more than $600 in repairs. Based on the facts above, my conclusion this dealership has a systematic process of causing malfunctions that require repair through sabotage and/or other means to drive revenue for its service department. Doing so at the expense of the innocent, preying on those that are more vulnerable or less knowledgeable full well knowing there is little that one can do to prove this practice. In speaking with other reputable individuals, including Auto Zone, other students and residents of San Angelo I have come to understand that dishonesty and these "coincidental" issues are very common for this dealership/service department. I am told that anyone who knows about this dealership likely knows of these practices of causing problems with vehicles so that a repair is necessary. However, it seems especially so for college students who have no alternative but to get their parents to pay for repairs. Jim Bass was able to perform the inspection quickly and charged me exactly what was quoted on the phone. The waiting area is sufficient and clean. I'm new to the area and received a coupon for a $29 oil change. In the past, I have used coupons similar and its always a $10 extra charge for the "special" oil. My bill for an oil change was $58. Wow! Way more then I expected to pay. Especially, since I had the 30k inspec. less then 3k miles ago and new oil change. Paid $44 after coupon and they didn't even wash my car like they do at other mazda dealerships. Not impressed. When my husband gets home, I'm gonna have him check that they even did any work. Why would you pay for nitrogen when 80% of the air you breathe is nitrogen? Did not purchase my Ford expedition with them but was still under warranty when I received an issue with the electronic system. My vehicle died on me while driving. Was told I just needed a new battery. 5 days later I was told it was ready for pick up, but was not able to come for another 3 days due to being stuck at home because of a snow storm. So my vehicle sat there for a total of 8 days and when they brought it to me the error was still on the dash. Walked right back in and they took it back to the shop to find out it was the alternator. Now I'm out a vehicle for another week. I called twice in those 8 days to ask if they were sure it was just the battery because it died WHILE I was driving. Was reassured it was and then to be handed the vehicle WITH the error still on the dash and running boards not working right in front of them..awful! I drove home after having a replacement rear camera installed. I then opened the trunk and saw that they forgot to reinstall my trunks paneling. They also left their tool in there along with all the clips and screws. The service drive was busy; so I asked the service writer how long it would take for the oil change. She told me they would get right on it. So I went walking around the car lot and 45 minutes later I noticed my vehicle wasn't in the service bay. I asked what was going on and she told it would be another 45 minutes till they could get to it. I calmly asked for the service manger and told him about what was going on and he was no help. Houston Harte Expy. 1. sales eager to make that sale and very inclusive about details that will hurt financially after its final plus they are unware of many new vehicles on that lot that fall under the SOUR LEMON ACT also the used ones that have mechanical and electrical defects. 2. Financial department sign or make you their is no option extra that is added to increase the price what was told to 2,000 to 15,000 extra added that can be avoided but not explained to contract you unless you walk out without vehicle. 3. When you can come because of a question or repair issue no one really want to help so parts department handels it and just repair and it seems all that extra insurance you bought nothing fits under the guarantee signed and promised. 4. Most of their service techs accept for two guys that explain better and have more patience are ok. The rest of the tech's are not great at customer service they will yell and insalt you and no other worker will stop them. I will not ever buy at this ford house again! I found a truck on line wensday evening and sent a request for them to call me . so on Thursday morning got a hold of them and put them intouch with my bank so they could send them a buyer order they sent one without a signature my bank called them and ask for a signed one . and when they got one my bank called me an ask me to get an insurance binder sent to the bank . I got it sent to the bank at 5:30 pm Thursday the bank is closed at that time . I called and told them that the bank was closed and .he would recive drafting instruction in the morning he said that would be fine. they call me from jim bass at 8:05 Friday morning and tell me my truck is no longer available .. The service I received was terrible! I took my car in to have a battery replaced after having talked with the receptionist about 4 time on the phone to try to expedite the process. I called when I was on my way and told her that I would be waiting while the service "which would only take about 30 minutes" was completed. When I got there, she told me I could not come inside even though the temperature was in the 30's with wind blowing. Since she had not told me on the phone that I would have to stand outside-- I did not have a coat or appropriate shoes. I am 66 years old and had to stand out in the cold wind for 1 hour! I am a nurse and trying to stay safe for my patients --- if I end up sick, this is going to be a real problem. There were no other customers inside or outside. If other businesses can have at least 10 people inside and they can stand 6 feet apart ---- why doesn't Jim Bass Ford have a better process and better communication for customers? read more

I'm thankful for him bass ford service department. They are always helpful and polite. You can always count on honesty and professionalism. My only complaint is trying to get ahold of the service to make an appointment. Sometimes it t is a chore to do so. They are very busy, might be time to hire another service advisor. I've been here twice in the last week because the tire pressure light keeps coming on. They keep telling me there are no leaks. And, I guess, because I'm a woman they didn't think I knew about expansion and compression due to weather change (see Tom Brady). I know about expansion and compression but if I'm seeing you twice a week, then its a small leak. They filled the tires, checked the tires, and let me go. So I guess there's no slow leak and I just need my vehicle serviced every three days. Not going back anymore. read more
