Over Thanksgiving weekend my F-150 broke down in Panamint Springs and I had it towed all the way to Jim Charlon Ford. As expected the service department was closed for the holiday weekend. Matt, the Service Manager happened to drive by as my truck was getting off-loaded from the tow truck. This was on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. He said he'd take a look at it on Monday and I explained our travel trailer was at a campsite in Death Valley (Furnace Creek) and I'd appreciate anything he could do. We rented a car and returned to our trailer. He absolutely saved the day on Monday. They had the part (throttle body) in stock and got the truck repaired. In the end we were able to drive back to Reno with the trailer in tow on Tuesday, no problem. Thank you for saving us! read more

First time here. Not going to go back for any of our future service work. Dropped off our car at 8:10am today. My wife just picked up our 2014 Mustang from the service department around 4:50pm. We took it in for an oil change and tire rotation. They done a "multi point inspection" but didn't reconnect one of our hoses that goes from the valve cover to the air filter. Good thing we checked. Have a picture... To top it off, their phones were not working and they were suppose to call to pick my wife up. Had a dear friend come and get her and take her to the dealer. The hood of the car was still open...wasn't even done yet. We will drive all the way back to San Diego for service work before coming back here. Very disappointing...they were originally referred to us by dear friends of ours (the same who took my wife to get the car) who knows the owner and bought their cars from them. We made the massive mistake of purchasing a 2008 F-250 Super Duty Diesel pick-up truck in May of 2018 from Charlon Ford in Ridgecrest, California. This engine light was flashing two days after its delivery, and it has been seriously downhill ever since. In spite of a $3600 service contract purchased WITH the vehicle., we had paid out over $15,000 in parts and repairs and it has literally been disabled now for the past 18 months...we had use of it for only four months and 1500 miles before the engine filled with metal filings from a faulty fuel pump and caused a catastrophic failure. Because the sales department never issued ANY copy of the service contract, we did not have so much as a phone number to be able to call when the turbos exploded in the ,middle of nowhere...literally within our first actual ten days' original use of the truck (AFTER $3000 of repairs in the first 80 days' of ownership...then the turbos exploded seven days after getting it back for another $6,000)...so before 90 days' ownership...we were told the initial repairs were not covered in the service contract and then the breakdown in the middle of nowhere happened. Even our original purchase transaction was based on deception as my ONLY REASON for looking to purchase a truck (any truck) was specifically to pull a forty foot fifth wheel trailer...the salesman outright lied to make the sale. Stuck with a thirty thousand dollar note on the truck, and having been lied to (and e-mails and letters not answered or returned EVER), we nonetheless coughed up a demanded $7,000 for parts (which they required to EVEN TRY to get the truck to run again). NOW we have just been informed by service manager Kenny Charlon that they are now refusing to repair the vehicle...after he became upset because I wanted to know when they would "get to it". It has been with them for over eleven months currently. They have been contending that the service warranty was voided after SOMEONE apparently stole all of the parts out of the vehicle - somewhere/somehow between the Bishop and Ridgecrest Ford dealerships. Without the failed parts, the service warranty was voided by Ford. The vehicle has not been anywhere BUT at the Bishop and Ridgecrest Ford dealership properties...it never came home and has not been anywhere else...and they all blame EACH OTHER for the disappearance of the parts! If I were considering ANYTHING automotive, I would not walk away from this horridly deceptive, dishonest, criminally fraudulent dealership...I would run away SO FAST. This has been unimaginable! AND in spite of the fact that we paid $500 to have the truck towed FROM the Bishop dealership TO Charlon Ford - where we bought it, of course, they are NOW demanding we tow is to the Ford dealership in Lancaster. I had a major problem with my F150 100 miles from home in Death Valley. Engine would loose all power and only idle roughly. Managed to limp it home. Called Charlon and they said service Dept. Was very busy and might be 2 weeks to see my truck. I explained I needed it quickly for another trip. They said bring it in now. I did and two days later my truck running great. Bad throttle body. They were very polite and understanding. Cost $100 since I had extended warranty. Will be back. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. This dealership's service department has the worst customer service. I took in my vehicle for a possible oil leak and asked, along with the diagnostic, for the oil to be changed and for the engine filter to be replaced. I was told that the car wasn't due for service until December or at 7500 miles. I stated regardless, I would still like to have the oil changed. The "supervisor" told me I was "coming at him" and being "aggressive." Told me to pick up my keys, leave, and take my car to Lancaster. I even offered an apology just in case my tone truly was off, but also asked him, "Why the attitude?" Maybe I shouldn't have asked "why the attitude" because that is when his aggression really started. I was told I was kept "coming at" this individual. No big deal--I will take my business to Lancaster and I will continually tell everyone my experience with this dealership. Diamond Ford in Lancaster has wonderful people and a professional service department who understands our concerns. Take your car there. Honestly, I think I dodged a bullet not having my car serviced at the Jim Charlon Ford dealership. If they are not professional at the desk, how do you think they are treating your vehicle? I wanted to be able to lease our C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid here in Ridgecrest. Unfortunately, Jim Charlon Ford has not been certified for sales of the plug in vehicles and we had to purchase in Lancaster. We did, and are very happy with our little electric. We are able to do most of our local travel using only the electric motor and our gas bill is next to zero. BUT, when the car was just a little shy of a year old, we developed a problem with the charging circuitry. Although Charlon cannot sell the Energi line, they can service them. This was the first PHEV they had worked on. It took a few trips for diagnosis, but they are very close to me, within walking distance. Also they happily will pick you up and drop you off for local service appointments. Anyway, they got the car sorted out and it is now charging fine. So, a few months later, my Grandson's girlfriend wanted to buy a car. We took a look at a few used models at other dealerships in town, but decided to run down to Charlon's to see what they had in a new car for her. She found the perfect one. Not an expensive car, by any means, but a nice, small, Fiesta: perfect for dependable transportation. She loved it. Her budget was low but Charlon definitely offered us a great deal, one she could afford. Her salesman, Quon, took good care of us. Look, when you go buy a car, do your research first. Look up the KBB and the Edmunds average retail price. Know what you are willing to pay before you go in there and chances are you will get it. Yes they try to upsell you on some stuff, no big deal. They make their living selling things. Remember that you are in control of that. Just say no! It is no problem for me. Our experience at the dealer was very pleasant and they were very accommodating to what we were looking for in the deal. Plus we got a free hat! Not too shabby. Ridgecrest is a small town. The nearest larger cities are 90 miles away in the Antelope Valley. I really think that we are lucky here in Ridgecrest to have a Ford store. Yeah, some people are going to have bad experiences in any dealership. The young gal I went with to help buy her new Ford had stopped by Charlon earlier by herself looking at used cars; the dude out on the used lot gaffed her off, telling her they would not deal on price. Meh. Happens. They got no sale, either. On the other hand, Quon paid attention to what we wanted and did not want, let us talk in private, and my young friend drove off the lot that afternoon in her new Ford. It was about as good as it ever gets at a car dealer. I would give them 5 stars, but as of today I would still have to drive down to AV to get another PHEV Ford. I like the one I am driving so much that I think I will get another if they keep up with the technology. I'd like to buy it locally, so GET THAT CERTIFICATION for Electrics, Charlon, and I will bump you to 5. Don't screw this up! read more

Unfortunately, I had to take my car here when it broke down on Labor Day. They had my car for almost a month. Took them 2 weeks just to pull it back to diagnose it. During that month I was in a cycle of calling, getting put on hold, hung up on, promised a call back, never happened; thus beginning the cycle again. When I did finally get a hold of someone I was belittled and given little information. They refused to provide a loaner/rental car during the time it took them to fix it. Fast forward a month after getting my transmission completely replaced and my car is having transmission issues again. Guess who is responsible but refusing to own up to it... Jim Charlon Ford. I did not post a review previously because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Now, after being without my car another 2 weeks because of their poor workmanship, I've had enough. Although they were clearly swamped, they saw our packed-for-camping truck bed and two dogs, and put our truck in for quick diagnosis. 20 minutes later they recommended a repair once our vacation was over, but assured us we could continue without worry. Jim Charlon Ford is one of the only places to ever find an honest salesman in ridgecrest. Being military it's quite often people try to scam us to get our money and every dealorship especially American dream auto tried to sell me a car that looked good but was broken or starting to break down at a overpriced fee. The salesman Erik Bernardino showed me that there are honest and respectable car dealor ships in town. He helped me pick out an awesome 2014 cheverlot sonic lt that is just perfect for me for traveling to go home or PCS to a new command plus it has amazing mileage protection all around and knocked it down to an easy to pay price!!!. Erik helped me with my financial issue trying to purchase the car and worked with me patiently every step of the way. Terrible customer service! If I could give this dealership 0 stars I would. Unfortunately I had no other choice but to bring my car to Jim Charlon Ford as it broke down on 395. After 6 days of them having my car, I returned to pick it up after being reassured that they test drove it 40+ miles to be sure that it was fixed. I was driving from Lake Tahoe and did not want to be stranded in Ridgecrest if the car was not ready. Upon pick up and driving not even 2 blocks down the road, the car started having the exact same problems. Frustrated that it was not fixed like I was told, I cannot emphasize enough the poor customer service that I experienced when I returned to the service department. Now, 4 weeks later, I am still yet to receive my rental car reimbursement as they somehow "lost my paperwork in the shuffle." Never did they call me to follow up with this paperwork, I had to call them again to ask what was going on with the reimbursement, which is the only way I found out about this. Once again, terrible customer service! I would not recommend doing business with this dealership, especially their service department. read more

Do not recommend. If you have to buy local, sit at a computer buy the car online from somewhere else and have it delivered. This place is a JOKE! Salesperson told us car had features on it that it does not, like performance package, Sirius and rear backup sensing. No the items are not on the window sticker but some items get hidden in trim packages. Sales person apparently did not know the differences in the vehicle trim packages and assumed that this vehicle had the options. Took the vehicle back 3 times only to be told "sorry I must have misspoke" and this is after he gets in the vehicle to show us how to use the missing feature. Also they are not honest with the numbers. I have a post it note written by Charlon himself with the agreed upon out the door price and it was changed on the contract which I did not catch prior to signing as the actual number was being covered during signing. I do take some blame for not paying close enough attention during signing, but with all the fast talking, folding and pointing going on it was hard to keep up. Even though we like the vehicle it is not the vehicle we were sold and thought we were getting. Use extreme caution when dealing with Charlon Ford. One star because it is the minimum I can select. read more
