So my Wife and I were here for a smog check today 07/17-2023 at approximately 2:00pm. We did not have a great experience. First off we are friendly people and they come off a bit cold. Zakia Xander on google reviews also mentioned this.  Second he failed my car after having the vehicle for 4-7 minutes tops due to a check engine light. I get in my car to leave, guess what? No check engine light is on. I went back inside and talked to the man in a very nice tone and stated there is no check engine light. He said there was when he did it. I stated ok but there isnt one now can you retest? Sure if you pay again is what he said with little emotion and a slight uncaring attitude. I decided I would go somewhere else. If you check Google reviews Garry Jeffries also had an issue with them concerning a check engine light.  If they really cared about their customers they wouldnt need to charge to run the test again. It is clear that they only care about money and not their customers. I have other smog checks coming up. I will give my money to someone else. My car will pass it is well taken care of. This company just wants to rush the jobs and collect money. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND YOU WILL BE A HAPPIER PERSON. read more

I live 3 hrs from Ridgecrest. I called to get work done on my car since it broke down. Told him that I just got the car a few weeks ago and wanted the dealer to pay for the repairs but the problem is the dealer is in my area. Asked if he would be able to accept a payment over the phone and his response was "I don't want to get involved with that". read more

Failed smog due to "your computer has been reset so drive it a couple hundred miles then come back." I drove it out of town then came back 20 minutes before closing for a recheck, now with a check engine light on. The irritable front dude said "so that means you have something wrong with your car" and gave no recommendations. I led him and asked, "can you check what needs to be done?" His response, "so thats actually $90 and it's called diagnostics and you can come back tomorrow morning." I had my car fixed elsewhere and it was merely an oxygen sensor replacement. I called this place 2 weeks later inquiring about re-check and was told, "so we don't do rechecks. I'm going to charge you each time you come." Bottom line, whoever the front liner knows no customer service, unless you are a familiar face in town. Poor communication skills laying out expectations and recommendations for problem resolution on your car. FYI go to Auto Zone for a free engine check scan, or buy one at Walmart for $19. Even a monkey can be trained to collect $45 and say no word about how to help solve passing your smog check. I guess if you have a newer vehicle and surely know you're car will pass with no issue, $45 for a quick smog check is a good deal. read more

Replaced OBD2 sensor as i failed prior inspection unable to communicate with smog machine. Wouldn't even check with handheld prior to putting on machine with out a payment as though he put on machine. The tire guy in town will plug and test without charge. Horrible service read more

VERY VERY RUDE!! Went in for a smog check but mentioned that my battery had been depleted and recently recharged. Then he seemed to ignore me and started helping other customers that came in after me. So I asked him why he was not giving me a smog check. He said, "Do you want a smog check or a favor?" A smog check I responded. But he had already setup the other three people and told me that I could come back on a less busy day. But I was there first and then other people came in and he totally ignored me as a customer. This place was recommended to me by my friends. They were right; this place is on point. Professional service that's efficient and effective. They provide great value at low prices. They do smog checks and perform other mechanical services as well. Oil changes, fluid changes and a few other services they do not provide; but they do most other services. They have a large Doberman Pinscher guard dog that is thee best guard dog. He approached me in the parking lot without ever barking or being aggressive in any way. I felt extremely safe with that dog. I feel sorry for any thief that tries to burglarize that place after hours. I also feel sorry for anyone that wants to get violent there as well. In Ridgecrest working on Base for the week. Sure enough Thursday getting lunch the check engine light comes on. Worried abt making it back to LA TH night I went to a shop near Auto for Less and explained what was going on. They didn't even have the time to run a quick scan to see if I could make it home or not. Went to another shop Near Auto for less and the same story. Stopped here and after explaining the situation they quickly offered to run the scanner to give me options. Turns out I shouldn't drive home with what was going on and they were able to order parts and get me safe to drive home to LA after work and at a more than fair price. These guys are Awesome!! I called them at about a quarter to 11 this morning just to see if I needed an appointment or anything and he said no you can just come in but we do have a lunch rush from 11 to 1 but I told him that I had to get it done because I had to be at work 40 miles away at 2.So I got there about a half an hour later and they were doing one car so the other guy was available so he started doing mine and I swear I was out of there in under 15 minutes and I paid $53.25... it was $45 for the smog and $8.25 for the certificate. read more

So my Jeep was in storage and the battery went dead and it was time for its smog. I replaced the battery and drove it around for a week and took it to Auto for Less for the smog check. They took it in the back and brought it back about 10 mins later charged me full price for the smog and said it "wasn't ready". In other words I hadn't driven it long enough with the new battery. I asked how would know if it was "ready" and was told you have to ask us for a free smog pre-check using our OBDS code reader to see if your car is "ready" for the smog check, if you don't we charge you full price and fail you. These guys are JURKS and DO NOT USE THEM FOR A SMOG CHECK! you have been warned. read more

I recently took my truck to get smog at this place. It did not pass because according to them the OBD BULB CHECK FAILED. This means the check engine light does not light up. Well they lied. I took it to Warrens right after and explain to them the issue. 10 min later and I get my smog inspection report with a pass. Not friendly by the way. read more

These guys are great! I was trying to register an out-of-state (TX) vehicle and with DMV closed it was impossible to get it done ... Auto For Less suggested Mo's. As a DMV Business Partner, Mo's got the paper done in 15 minutes, sent me to Autos For Less for a SMOG check, and back for plates. Auto for Less got my RV done in less than 10 minutes and helped me get done what I thought was not going to happen, all in under an hour including driving time around Ridgecrest. Try that with DMV. My friend had bought a car from a car lot the day before the earthquake. After the 6.4 and 7.1 hit us, she drove the car and the radiator was cracked and gushing water like crazy. These guys, were on it and they made it their priority to get her car repaired and back to her the next day with a new radiator. I was so shocked because I'd never known a car lot to sell cars with a cracked radiator before and my friend was in a straight up panic with overheating, worrying about the motor blowing as we are surrounded by these earthquakes. I have never been treated so rudely in my life as I was at this business! I will never, ever go there again, and I will discourage all of my friends from going also. I have been trying to get my vehicle to pass smog inspection for 2 months. Once again today, it didn't pass. When I asked the tall curly-haired "person," and I use that term loosely, behind the counter what I should do, all he said was "Go drive it about 400 miles and come back." I asked him a couple other questions and he just blew me off. I will let you guess which one of my fingernails fell off as I drove off!! If this business were a chain operation, I would highly recommend to the Human Resources Department that this dude be enrolled in a Customer Service Seminar and be given a copy of "How To Make Friends and Influence People." I used them in the past but this time they had the vehicle for less than 10 minutes to tell me it was full price $45 and did not pass. I was told I could pay another $90 for the diagnostic [Smoke Check] to find the EVap problem plus cost of repair and another $45 plus certificate guaranteed to pass. This is unacceptable bad business, I will never go back.
