    My new picc! Love it!
    Mason D.

I feel bad for this place because the reviews seem way blown out of proportion. I ordered a piccolo trumpet, the Elite IV, on Christmas and it came in a week. At first the instrument didn't play because the valves were not all turned the correct direction but it was an easy fix by simply taking them out and putting them back in the right way. Schiller, which is Jim Laab's store brand, gets a lot of flak on the internet but it played well for the price. Valves get stickier faster than my Yamaha Bb Trumpet, but a little oil now and then fixes that right up. As it turns out, Schillers are actually made in South Korea not China, as stated by the internet reviewers. Overall the craftsmanship was good! I felt the valve caps were an odd pairing, being a deep sea green, but that's hardly a complaint. Everything works like a charm. The typical range for this instrument is low C# on a regular Bb to a G over double C. If it's tough to play at first, just remember that the instrument is so small and pitched up that a lot of air is required to hit that upper register so just keep practicing. The valves have to be turned completely counterclockwise until they stop when the bell is facing to your right in order for the instrument to play, if not the valves don't line up properly and the passages are blocked. This is the case on most trumpet brands, but be aware of this before returning if it didn't play at first. The sound is bright and sharp, not stuffy at all. Count this as both a review of Jim Laab's craftsmanship and customer service through Schiller. Nicely done, probably the best piccolo trumpet you can buy for around $500.

This is what I received. I'd have been thrilled if that's what I had ordered.

At the request of the owner, I am removing my review. My wife did ultimately receive an apology.

Chris, the repair tech at the location in Appleton, sent me a replacement through a third party. He didn't have my saxophone so he was hoping that the one he sent would be the correct screw--sadly (100% not anyone's fault) it was not correct. But it did screw in far enough to hold the post in place for the duration of the concert, it was a huge deal for me. The next day I was directed by the good people at the Heid Music location in Oshkosh (a beautiful place, with welcoming, and highly competent staff) to take my instrument to the location in Appleton, where Chris was working. The brand of screw that was supposed to fit my instrument wasn't fitting. Chris, with me in the repair room with him, exhaustively went through all the possibilities until he stumbled on a Yamaha screw that fit in my Selmer saxophone. He was engaging, and generous, and clearly had a serious know-how about the instrument (mine) he was working on. I can't recommend Heid Music enough. The stores are beautiful, with knowledgeable and friendly staff. They have an exhaustive inventory: a good mix of affordable student instruments and high end professional instruments, infinite pianos and string instruments, walls and walls and shelves and shelves of music books. It's just so cool! Please check out Heid Music if you're in Oshkosh or Appleton!

The box never got inside my front door, but Jerry's Music withheld $750.00 from the refund to return it. Spoke with either the manager or the owner on the phone shortly after returning the guitar and he said "you're not going to like this," about return costs when I'd notified them the guitar had been sent back via UPS. READ THE RETURN POLICY VERY CLOSELY prior to making a purchase from this business if you're purchasing online. Make absolutely sure you want the product prior to purchase. They sold a good product, it arrived quickly, and they refunded my purchase price quickly, but they charge a stiff fee for any returns when instruments are shipped. I understand smaller businesses (than say Guitar Center and others) need to count on sales and can't withstand continual return shipping costs. Got no problem with that at all. It's my fault for changing my mind. But $750.00 on a return on an unopened box and when the box didn't even make it inside my front door? I'd of been ok with $350.00 or so on return shipping costs. Whatever. Live & learn.

I am so blown away by the wonderful job this company did. They far exceeded my expectations!…read more I wanted my daughter to be able to play my wife's saxophone, for as long my daughter plays the saxophone. My wife passed away in Jan 2018, so the instrument meant more to us than just an instrument. I want her to be able to pass it down to her kids someday However, since my wife played that sax in High School and Collage Band 20ish years ago, it was really worn down and alot of the finish was damaged. It wouldn't have made for a good performance instrument, only because of how bad it looked (it played fine). Eventually, my daughter would have been embarrassed by it, only because of how the other kids had nice shinny saxophone and hers wasn't. (we all know kids like to make fun of things like that). Therefore, at some point, she would have wanted one that didn't look like it did. So after alot of research, I was able to find Band Instrument Repair Specialists. Unlike my local repair shop, they could repair, refurbish AND refinish. Finding some who should refinish instruments was the hard part. It turned out better than I could have hoped for. I feel like crying with tears of joy. Yes, it cost a significant portion of the price of a new saxophone, but it was worth it. The past and future memories made this this sax made 3 times the price well worth it. It looked so new, I actually checked the serial number, just to make sure it was the same sax (and it was). If you have an instrument, that means alot more than just being an instrument, and need it restored, I highly recommend this place!

Attention Musicians Please Read This True Story (It will save you a lot of time and pain)…read more In June of this summer, I purchased a used Line 6 PA speaker. About 3 days after I bought it, it wouldn't turn on for some reason. I spoke to the previous owner and there wasn't much help from him but he did give me the receipt so that I could make the repair under the warranty. I proceeded then, to take my speaker to the nearest service center which happened to be C NOTE MUSIC in Wisconsin Rapids. After I got home from this 120 mile round trip I got a phone call from a worker at C Note Music who told me that I had to pay a $35 coverage charge before they would even look at my speaker, which they failed to inform me while I was at the store. Flustered as I was I told them I would pick it up later that week. On the day I went down to get my speaker to a more organized service center, I had called in advance to make sure my speaker was ready to be picked up. When I finally arrived there the worker that I was on the phone with could not find my speaker. It turned out that the speaker repairman took the speaker without anybody else knowing which he should not have done if I did not pay the cover charge. The guy working the front desk proceeded to tell me that I should come back later and they would call me when it was done. By now I have wasted 2 120 mile round trips. They did not apologize for these mistakes, which were unacceptable to any store standard. After waiting 2 months for my speaker to get fixed, which I do not blame them for the long turnaround time, I picked it up on the 28th of August. When picking up my speaker I asked the worker at the front desk where my power cable was. He then proceeded to go into the back and hand me a power cable that was not the same one that I had given them when dropping my speaker off in June. I then asked the worker if I could plug it in to see if the speaker worked properly. He responded by saying that he had never had an issue with his repairman and that I was "fine". I then proceeded to take my speaker home, where I tested it out. Almost immediately when I started playing it I noticed that the speaker cut in and out. A new problem replaced the old. At this point I flat out pissed. THE PEOPLE AT C NOTE MUSIC HAD WASTED MY TIME, EFFORT AND MONEY FOR THEIR FINISHED PRODUCT THAT STILL DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. I called Line 6 to inform them about this incident and they are now pending it with their management to revoke warranty repairs for this place. I also called C Note Music to inform them of my dissatisfaction with their repair, that I felt as though I should be compensated for all the shit they put me through and to inform them that I submitted this information to Line 6. The whole while I was on the phone with C Note Music they did not seem to care about the situation at all (though they did give me a half assed apology). They only acknowledge what they wanted to acknowledge when I was speaking to them. They hung up after I informed them that I submitted this incident to Line 6. AFTER ALL THIS TIME, EFFORT AND MONEY I STILL HAVE A BROKEN SPEAKER WHICH I HAVE TO TAKE TO A COMPETENT SERVICE CENTER. THROUGHOUT THIS WHOLE INCIDENT (AND THE RESULT) C NOTE MUSIC HAS SHOWN ME THEY LACK THE ORGANIZATIONAL, TECHNICAL AND SOCIAL SKILLS TO REPAIR MUSICAL ITEMS. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR INSTRUMENTS OR SPEAKERS I SUGGEST YOU TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE.
