Second time to Jim n Nick's. The wings were tasty, should have stopped there. Brisket was mushy and fatty, lacked flavor. The bark was wet and mushy. Pulled pork was decent, not great. Baked beans, had they been hot, would have been ok, cole slaw, had it been cold would have tasted better. Mac was super thick on the cheese, gritty, not real creamy. Only two sauces to choose from, nothing over the top. The little biscuits were tasty. Hubs had the sausage - mushy, no crispness to the casing. We were there 2 hours, 40 minutes to get our food which earned us a free piece of pie. Not impressed. Lacked luster. I prefer Mission BBQ if you're looking for good solid food with great flavor. read more

went for lunch about a week ago and ordered ( PIGGIE POTATO) Baked potato supposedly topped with smoked meat, bacon, cheddar, scallions, butter, sour cream and bar-b-q sauce for 8.50. this was a very small potato which would have fit in the palm of a 3 year old child's hand, with no more than an ounce or two of very small chopped pieces of pork.i i would have been embarrassed to serve this to anyone.Before all their cutbacks recently, this was a formidable meal with the ends of two potatoes cut off, pushed together to appear huge and piled high with bbq. So sad to see how far they have fallen in such a short length of time. i wont be back !! read more

Great food! I had the two meat platter with collard greens and baked beans. The brisket was so tender, I had to use my spoon to pick it up off my plate. Good bark too. The pulled pork was juicy and tender as well. I prefer a spicy bbq sauce and they were able to accommodate with their habanero bbq sauce. Good stuff. The star of the show for me? The collard greens. Yum!!!! I'll be back soon to try the chicken and turkey but I'll definitely be throwing back some more of those greens too!! Waitress was friendly and the service was great. The cheese biscuits and whipped honey butter to start the race were pretty damn good too. Careful, don't fill up on those though. The portion sizes are just right. We have used their services twice, first for our wedding and again just recently for my husband's welcome home party after his deployment to the Middle East. The entire planning process was flawless. I worked with Sarah to coordinate our needs for the day. She listened to all of our requests, was conscientious of our budget, and was very courteous and professional. On the day of the event, Abby, Jeremy, and Levi (on the rig) were incredible to work with. They set up the beautiful spread quickly and smoothly. I was able to focus on the rest of the event and enjoy my time with our guests without giving a second thought to the food. Went through the drive thru and ordered a pork potato and a rib combo with Mac and cheese and beans. Got home to eat to find that the potato was hard as a brick in the middle of both sides, I moved the pork over to find that it was also black, the ribs were hard and nasty along with the Mac and cheese that taste sour. The store closed at 11 and I got my food at 10:30 after sitting in the drive thru for 25 minutes. I called the next morning being that the store had closed and spoke to a manager that told me he would refund it. I went back up there and spoke with a different manager by the name of SCOTT whose customer service sucked!!!!! He stated he could only give me a refund for the potato because I had only brought back the potato to show them the black. All this to say the food was nasty and so was Scott's customer service! I will not be back at that location in Smyrna! read more

When you first sit down in this cute restaurant, the server bring you rolls. They are a wonderful start to your meal. My husband and I ordered a house salad which had bacon and almonds in it and tasted really good. We also ordered brisket nachos and split between us both. They were very good with lots of toppings, but there was a lot of fat on the brisket. Tasted good otherwise! The service was quick and wonderful. read more

I didn't realize they were a chain being from out of town, so my expectations were probably a little higher thinking it was a local BBQ place. The atmosphere is fine though it felt a little like an old black eyed pea. Service was well enough, server recommended a few things and the table ended up with pork ribs and brisket. The brisket was alright, but not the Texas style smoked with a good black crust I'm used to. The ribs were basically tough and bland - big mistake on those. The macaroni and cheese was a good side, the cole slaw wasn't that great, again missing something to make it more flavorful. Overall not worth coming back. read more

Jim N Nicks Review: Atmosphere: Beautiful, spacious, clean, good music, bigger on the inside than from the outside appearance. Food: I finally decided to try out this restaurant after residing in this great town for a little over 8 months. I started out with an appetizer (Smoked Buffalo wings) and upon arrival they smelled hotter than the Fourth of July so I prepared myself for lots of H2o to help alleviate the torture of burning in *^&*... As I sank my teeth into the meaty inferno I discovered that you cannot judge a chicken by its smell. It was not hot whatsoever but the spices were so well blended that it was absolutely delicious...no water necessary. I ordered the Beef Brisket with a side of fries and coleslaw...first of all, I can go to a 5 star restaurant and order a 32oz Prime Rib but if I order French fries with my meal, chances are my Prime Rib will go untouched.....Well, no difference with Jim N Nicks fries and Brisket plate....The fries were so good that I ate them only after the coleslaw and sampling the complimentary cheese biscuit. I must confess, everything that I had was absolutely delicious. Service: The restaurant was not busy at all, most likely because of the Labor Day Holiday. As I walked into the restaurant I was impressed with the layout and the cleanliness but waiting for approximately 4 minutes for someone to ask if we have been greeted yet and we told him, "not yet," he looked a bit puzzled and sat us down immediately. What I noticed from this gentleman's behavior was that he was not the Host or Hostess but perhaps a server or bartender.....What impressed me is that he was genuinely concerned that we had been waiting for an extended period for a table and he took the initiative to ask if we preferred a booth or a table and within 7 seconds he sat us down at a booth and told us who our server would be for the evening. I regret that I did not get the gentleman's name who escorted us to our booth because he deserves recognition for Jim N Nick's attention to customer satisfaction. It was evident to me that he took the satisfaction of customer service seriously. Unfortunately for my fiancé and I, service was subpar, probably something we could expect from a restaurant that had an F rating on the alphabet scale A being best F being worst.. For fear of embarrassment I will not mention the name of our server but if anyone at Jim N Nicks reads this review, they will know who she is. If I based my experience on the service I would never go back to Jim N Nicks however I don't always judge a restaurant on my experience of one server. As we sat in the restaurant, I noticed one server who stood out as a very hard working professional. Before I left I called the gentleman over to my table and asked his name. His name is Marshall. I told Marshall how he stood out as a hard working gentleman who seemed from my perspective to have gone above and beyond the workings of a great server. I think that my compliment lifted his spirits up and if so, it was a well-deserved acknowledgement. He told us that if we ever come back to ask for him and he would be honored to be our server...We will be back and I will request Marshall as my server. I did ask to speak with the manager who came to talk to me. The manager's name is James and if he knows how to read between the lines he will know the old saying, "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything." That is why I singled out Marshall and I told James that I would like him to give Marshall recognition and a pat on the back.... Prior to leaving I told Marshall that I was going to write a review and mention his name. I got his FB name so that he could feel somewhat happy about his hard works. It does not go unnoticed to people such as myself who appreciates those who put forth an honest effort. The food was great, and from watching Marshall serve his tables I will definitely be coming back. What I hope you will get from my review is not to be biased from one representative but to watch, observe and learn how to appreciate what goes on beyond your table.... I thought this place was real good! I'm normally a pretty health eater, so I appreciated I could indulge in tasty BBQ and not feel totally guilty. Ate there for the first time this weekend, and realized I've been missing out. Really, really good bar-b-cue. I had beef brisket and it was the most tender, moist brisket I've had so far. Really good sides as well, and the cheddar muffins are great. Went on Cinco de Mayo and had a margarita that was really good as well. Quick, friendly service made it a really nice overall experience. This locations drive-thru in definitely not on par with the Murfreesboro location. The service is much slower and the accuracy requires you to double check your order before leaving. I've also had a problem with the hamburger's being under cook. The biggest difference is the friendliness of the drive-thru staff. I believe this issues is a reflection of the management. read more

This place was disgusting!! I had the smoked ribs with a side of Cole Slaw and mac n cheese. Eating the ribs is like eating a smoking cigarette. The mac n cheese was clumpy and oily. Nice bite to the casing and awesome flavor. Chicken and pork were moist and smokey. All three were love at first bite. The potato salad was standard, but the creamed spinach was very good...plenty of creaminess to be had. Finally, the bartender, Nikki, was a doll. Extra bonus points for crushed ice over cubes (corny, I know...). Overall, great food, friendly service and nice atmosphere. I ate here twice this week for lunch. I chose the brisket, which is my favorite. Nicely done, good smoke, tender, and flavorful. Baked beans are good, but a bit too sweet. Cole slaw is nothing special, but a bit vinegary. The homemade potato chips are ok, but the blue cheese dip makes them Yummy. Great service! On my second visit I also had the hot links, which seems to be an in house specialty. I didn't really like them, but being for texas I may simply have different expectations.
