We are staying at the Double Tree and went downstairs to eat at their restaurant. My wife is gluten free and dairy free.We ordered salmon just grilled no butter, it comes with green beans and rice pilaf. They told us that the rice pilaf is not GF. We told them just the green beans and salmon with no butter. The food came out and the first thing we saw was the rotting green beans. They were brown and slimy. We asked how can they serve anything like this. They said it's frozen beans and they cook like this. Really, I cook frozen veggies and none of my veggies look like that. My wife and I went here for breakfast this morning. I like breakfast buffets and we hadn't tried this one yet. When we arrived (at about 9:30) the doors directly into the restaurant from the outside were locked, we had to enter through the hotel entrance. When we got into the restaurant there were very few people in there and no staff to be seen. We picked out a table (the sign said to seat yourself) and went to the buffet to get our food. The selection was ok I guess. They had scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon and sausage, potatoes and grits. On down the bar they had bread, bagels and biscuits, some cereal, yogurt and milk. After getting our food we looked around and there wasn't any silverware to be seen. My wife was able (after a few minutes) to get the attention of a waitress and she brought out silverware and napkins for the both of us. She then brought out some more napkins but no extra silverware. She never did ask us what we wanted to drink with our meal. My wife tried to get her attention but she just ignored us. Finally my wife got her attention and we were able to get our drinks. The food was alright, nothing to get excited about. But the service was terrible. If this is the way that they handle breakfast then there is no way I will ever go back there for lunch or dinner. One more thing, on the way out I told the person who was working the front desk about the locked doors (it said on the door that they were to be unlocked during business hours), he could have cared less. The manager with the purple hair and her boyfriend, who is a bartender and server, who she referred to me "as this fine gentleman here" are unprofessional, rude and racist. Very poor customer service. They refused service to 7 women, stating short staffed, they were the first ones in the restaurant. The "fine gentleman" server was rude off top. He has a blonde streak in his hair. We were told if 10 ppl or less they could accommodate a group. Not the case. Everyone else was welcomed and served without any issues. Just a few details kept me from awarding four stars. In this review, I will mention the food, the service, atmosphere, and overheard frustrations from nearby diners. As I drive with Uber, one of my clients was one of the cooks here and his comments about the food got me interested. By the way, the place is in the Garden Plaza hotel. It is not limited to guests and I suggest you try it on your own anyway. You "build your own burger" from a laminated menu. The other side of the menu has many other interesting items. Not only do you build your burger using the menu, you build it by marking ON the menu, with a dry erase marker. There are many options of all the wonderful combinations available. The burger and fries were very good, not fantastic. Mine was ordered without a bun, to control my carbohydrates. That was a good choice for me, but there is a great selection of other buns that sounded fantastic. The beef is Hereford meat and was very tasty, but I ordered it rare and it came out medium. I was expecting some read still showing, but there was only a little bit of pink in side. Toppings were wonderful, and they should be because I chose what I liked. The bacon was really good. My first fry was unimpressive. It was limp and soggy. Anyway, I soldiered on and kept trying them. The first one was a mistake as the rest were satisfactory. Certainly, I was expecting a crisp outside and fluffy inside, but it was not that way. Emma greeted me at the door and invited me to sit anywhere I wanted. That was a challenge, because there were no other diners, except for a few men at the bar. Even though I was the only diner when I got there, she did not dote over me and was there when I needed her. As other customers came in, she quickened her pace to make sure all were well taken care of. Decor was bright and modern. Inviting and not overpowering. As I was dining on a Tuesday evening, a young lady came it with musical equipment and was setting up to perform lived. I did not have time to stay to hear her, but she was enthusiastic as she was setting up. It is not polite to eavesdrop, but the couple a few tables away really had issues ordering from the bar. We went here for breakfast while at hotel and i must say this place had greasy chair backs, stains in seats and the whole vibe feels like you are in a airport terminal.. Just cold like a hospital cafeteria. The breakfast food laid out was poor quality with the most atrocious bag coffee (RoyaL) WHich everyone knows how bad it is. i asked for fried eggs and they came out all brown from the grease.. We left and walked over to Starbucks for coffee next door and will check out breakfast somewhere else tomorrow. While the one server available was plenty friendly, I think homemade PB&J would've been a better meal, and definitely wouldn't have cost $80 for 3 adults and a child. They are operating on a limited menu: cheeseburger, chicken, or salad, and a couple of sides. The onion rings were raw; you could actually taste the batter. The loaded tater tots were bland, and the bacon appeared to be the fat from a country ham. One of our medium-well burgers was actually raw. There were 3 tables with patrons, yet our food still took a good 30 min. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was such a disaster of a "meal", potential diners need to know. Why did I not know about this place before searching "happy hours" on Yelp?! Burger Bar was awesome. It's a create-your-own burger place, which is great for me because I'm super picky. I have been on this pimento, jalapeño bacon burger phase, so that's what I ordered in a spinach wrap..because I need to lose 10 pounds :). It was a really good burger wrap! What I loved best about Burger Bar was our waitress/bartender Lori! She was awesome! A group of us from work was there for an after work happy hour, and they had $4 martinis. Two of the martinis were her personal creations which were really good if you like sweet drinks. They were called Rainbow and Key Lime Pie (my favorite). Lori was super fun! She was attentive and made sure we had everything we need, including always having a drink in front of us. She was so bubbly and happy! I loved having her as our waitress. One Saturday night my fiance and I had a hankering for some good burgers but didn't feel like going to Red Robin. I saw the reviews for this place so we decided to check it out. We didn't realize it was in the Double Tree hotel, but found it easily. It was so dead considering it was a Saturday night, there were only a couple other tables occupied. They had 2 for 1 drink specials and instead of getting 2 drinks, our waiter gave us 2 drinks worth of liquor in one glass. Needless to say it was pretty strong. We started with the deviled eggs because many previous reviewers had said they were good. They were in fact, quite good, and a lot better than the regular deviled eggs I've had. I thought it was different that they have you build your burger instead of having options like normal restaurants. Either way, I ended up doing the beef burger with Swiss cheese, mushrooms, onion strings, and sweet BBQ sauce on a pretzel bun. Everything was cooked properly and we got the Parmesan fries with the garlic aioli, which were great. Overall this is a pretty nice place if you're in the area. They got our order off by a little bit but the food was still decent. The only reason I'm giving them a 4/5 is their lack of beer on tap- everything is bottled. The sweet potato fries are covered in cinnamon and sugar, come with apple butter, and are more of a desert than anything else. I liked them but the lady friend did not. She got the parmesan garlic fries, which were delicious. They don't have pickles available as a burger topping, but do have fried pickles on their appetizer list, leading me to believe their fried pickles are frozen. We waited for an hour and a half, for our order, after this looooong wait, we got our "cold" burgers, and after we told the waiter about the burgers, and he responded with "ok" and that was it.
