The Draper Mercantile And Trading Company - I've been a NYC and LA foodie for a while and this is one of the best breakfast burgers I have ever had.

Such an amazing experience! Our server was very welcoming…read moreand interactive and funny. It was a bit busy so we expected a slight delay on drinks/food, but our server kept checking on us every few minutes and kept our drinks full. The atmosphere/design is very unique and offers great talking points for the table. You can look around and always find something new you haven't seen before. For food, I got the French dip, my husband got the fried catfish, and mom got the smash burger. Food was EXCELLENT. The au jus from the French dip was not overly salty as I've had in the past, and it was the perfect amount for the sandwich. Not like other places that will either give you a big tub of au jus or ever a small saucer cup. After lunch, we walked around as they have a shopping area inside with soaps, handmade pottery/kitchenware, and local vendor products such as hatch chile cream cheese and pickled vegetables. Price was very favorable too and didn't seem to be overly priced where the business/vendor up charges significantly to make a huge profit. Definitely worth stopping by even if you only have time for Togo coffee, a snack, of just to shop around!

We were looking for a brunch place on our way home from Charlotte and found this amazing restaurant…read morein Draper, Virginia. Tucked away in the hills of Draper, the Mercantile and Trading Company restaurant is in a remodeled restaurant that used to be a post office. It is reminiscent of a Cracker Barrel but with more style, pizzazz and variety of products available, from stationery to kitchen gadgets to homemade chocolates. The server seated us and was very attentive to our needs. From the bottomless coffee to the follow-up order for one of those homemade biscuits, our server made us feel like we were her only customer! We loved this! Our family ordered the eggs, bacon and toast, as well as a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, the granola parfait with berries, and the kid-sized omelette with a side of sausage patties. The portions were large and no one was left wanting for more food. We had to try the biscuit, so we sampled parts of it but ended up getting most of it "to go." The flavor reminded me of the biscuits my mom used to make when I was a kid. Delicious! We highly recommend this restaurant and know you will find a little bit of something for everyone here. The restaurant has plenty of room for all diners, inside or on the large wraparound porch. The food is served in large portions and the service is second to none. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in the area.

The Bluffs - Hot Pimento Cheese Dip

We stopped in for a quick lunch while riding the motorcycle on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is a…read morehistoric spot and somewhere we have been meaning to get back to since we heard they were under new ownership. When we stopped in, the place was packed for the lunch rush. We got seated relatively quickly and our server was very sweet. We order two beers, the hot pimento cheese dip, along with our mains. The beer and wine selection is pretty solid! The dip was great, but would have loved to have some more crackers and the pickles that were in the item description. Josh ordered the Meatloaf Sandwich with fries, which was very good! I ordered the Bluffs Burger and elected to add pimento cheese to the burger - but when it came out, it had replaced my side of fries instead, which I didn't mind. We did come in at a super busy time, so no worries. This place is a great lunch stop if you're on the BRP and the new ownership has really breathed new life into this place. We will be back!

My wife, our dog, and I had lunch here yesterday, and let's be honest - the food is underwhelming,…read morebut you're absolutely coming for the experience, and what an experience we had! We decided to eat outside since the temperature was perfect and it was pleasantly overcast. Since we arrived after the lunch rush, they weren't very busy, which gave us a nice, relaxed atmosphere. My wife ordered a burger and fries while I went with the salad plate, which came loaded with pimento cheese, egg salad, tuna salad, and chicken salad. The pimento cheese was absolutely stellar - a perfect 10 out of 10! The egg salad had a surprisingly runny consistency, but the flavor was surprisingly good. The tuna salad was decent, nothing special. The chicken salad, however, was my least favorite - dry, a bit stringy, and seriously underseasoned. My wife's burger was simple and fine, but her french fries had been fried to within an inch of their lives. I'm not kidding when I say there was literally no potato left inside - she bit the tips off one fry and you could blow air straight through it like a straw! But here's the thing - you're not coming here for culinary excellence. You're coming for the gorgeous scenery and the memorable experience, and boy, did it deliver! The building is absolutely lovely and the outdoor seating is incredibly comfortable. While we were eating, Mother Nature decided to put on a show with a sudden downpour! We found ourselves huddled under an umbrella with our dog as the rain absolutely poured down around us. Trying to finish eating! It was hilarious, fun, and definitely unforgettable. So yes, the food might not win any awards, but the setting and potential for adventure more than make up for it! To those about to nosh, we salute you! Bring your umbrella!!

He made sure everything was perfect! We started off with the Cheese Sticks with both ranch dressing and marinara sauce! The marinara sauce was really good! The ranch dressing was too watered down for my taste!!! The cheese sticks were hot and fresh! Very gooey and good! He ordered the 13 Bones burger with fries. The burger had amazing flavor! The fries were a bit too salty, but they were perfectly cooked and served hot! I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with their homemade chips! I ordered an extra side of dressing for both my sandwich and the chips. I just cannot rave enough about how amazing my entire meal was! Those chips were PERFECT!!!! Already looking forward to our next visit! Most Sincerely, Dayla

It was very cold where we were sitting and the server allowed us to move to a warmer spot. We ordered a fried mushroom appetizer. This was very good. They came with ranch and I think it was the horseradish sauce. The orangish sauce was very good. I ordered 1/2 rack of dry ribs with mac & cheese and green beans, and 2 hushpuppies. You get a choice of Texas toast, hushpuppies, or rolls. My coworker ordered salmon. When the food came out, my ribs were wet. I told the server that I had ordered dry rub. He stated they were dry but had sauce on them. I'm sorry, that is not a "dry rib", in my opinion. The first piece of rib meat I ate was soft and juicy. The next two were super dry and I could not eat any more of them. My coworker joked that that was probably what they were referring to when they said "dry rub". The green beans were ok. I added a ton of pepper and some hot sauce. I saved the mac & cheese for lunch the next day. The hushpuppies were dense and needed a little more flavor. My coworker commented that her salmon was ok but nothing to write home about. I should have went with my first instinct and ordered from the kids menu. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is nice.
