The removal of the old tile in progress.

I've used Jim The Handyman a few times for projects of increasing complexity. They just finished remodeling my bathrooms. (Not total but really almost a complete redo.). I was impressed with everything from getting an estimate to scheduling the work and ultimately the timing of the work. The estimate was quite reasonable given the amount of work that needed to be done, and the service provided before and during the work was great. (It was so refreshing having someone actually get back to me quickly!). One of the owners even stopped by once to check on the progress. The workers were so polite and courteous. They were really attentive to my questions and suggestions. They were also very productive! There was a lot of work, and they did it so well so quickly. Honestly, I am very impressed with their ability to handle small to large projects. I will be keeping JTH in mind for any home projects that come up in the future. It's comforting to have a company like this nearby!

    Repaired plaster ceiling

Totally pleased with their service. I had cracks in plaster ceiling repaired and a few floor tiles replaced. They were able to schedule me for the next day, they came on time, their work is impeccable, they cleaned everything up nicely, and charged half of what I was quoted elsewhere. Who could ask for more?

I used this company twice and both times they did an excellent job for a reasonable amount of money.

Ask the Community - Jim The Handyman

I live in an older home and many of the doors stick or don't shut property. Is this something you can help with?

Matt at Jim the Handyman can help you. He is a cabinet maker and can fix anything. The price is reasonable, Matt is a 'can do' guy with skill and knowledge for every situation. Good luck! Bernadette

    Can you install attic stairs?

Yes we can. Please provide us with your data so we can schedule a free estimate

Looking to hang cabinets, is that some Jim can handle?

Yes I think they would do a great job.

I have some minor woodwork and painting of a kitchen island. Is that something you can do?

Jim the Handyman could generally handle this assignment. You would need to call them to ask specifically and arrange for a quote. They have done excellent work for us over a period of many years.

Does Jim The Handyman handle minor plumbing and electrical?

I also am not sure. They have repaired the hole in the wall from a falling tree, a handle rail in my back yard, installed several handrails for my late husband, installed blinds in my kitchen. I never asked them to do plumbing and electrical.… Read more

I had started the job myself but got an anchor screw stuck and figured I should have a pro step in so I didn't wreck my new walls. All the supplies were here, placed where they needed to be, holes were measured and marked for custom made rods and drapes. He charges by the hour and moves very, very slow. He didn't have his own step ladder or anchor screws. In the first hour, he managed to put in 3 screws in holes that had already been marked. He claimed he "needed to remeasure" and that's why it took so long, but he used the holes that I had already marked. He also said it was too hard to do with custom cut rods. He also said it wasn't his fault because I had an anchor screw stuck in the wall already, which was the whole reason I hired him. This is what pros do: they come prepared, know the required materials and techniques, and advise the customer on the best way to proceed. I knew we needed to cut it off when he asked me how to use an anchor screw. He didn't know if you needed to pre-drill or not for a very basic and common anchor. I cannot imagine a professional handyman not knowing that. He used a level to stare at the pre-marked holes for what seemed like an eternity, just eating up time. 3 screws = $200. Seems like a nice enough man, but handyman may not be the profession for him, and that's giving him the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't just trying to take advantage of someone he assumed was too naive too know how long the job should take. He became very defensive, making excuses when I said we'd need to end the job at one hour. Im sure judging by other less than 5 star reviews here (that I really wish I'd have taken the time to read) he will post a very defensive response here as well. Please just don't take a job you don't have the required expertise to complete, and I don't want to hear defensive excuses when I'm still out $200 for almost no work completed.

Had him hang about 8 paintings throughout the house. Very good, professional, responsive. Good…read morevalue for money spent.
