I've never been to Jimboy's before and I was on a taco kick after going to lunch at an event called Taco, Beer + Margarita even for held in Fair Oaks. So I wanted to continue with that theme for a late and quick dinner. Fast food isn't my usual go to for meals but that doesn't mean I don't like them. I arrived around 8. The girl at the front was patient and friendly with me especially when I told her I've never been before. The table I sat at was dirty. They had put away the salsa area already even though it was still fairly early. Maybe it wasnt early for Placerville standards? I ordered two of the original beef tacos because they were out of the shredded beef. I also ordered a fish taco and French fries. The taco shells for each taco was soooo greasy. Now I love me some grease, Especially when it comes to my burgers. But it was so moist from grease that every time I picked it up for a bite it just fell apart. My fingers looked wet every time I put the food down. The beef comes with lettuce and cheese but it didn't even fill up half the taco! I was really surprised at the lack of fillings. It was also pretty tasteless, as if they didn't really season the beef. All I could taste was the grease. It was a little bit of a let down. I smothered it with the salsa that was offered. The fries were crinkle cut. Yay, my favorite. But it also tasted just like grease and it wasn't seasoned with salt. It was seasoned with some orangey red spice that I'm sure contains salt but it was only on the top part of the fries in the bag so the rest was left Unseasoned and the top was way over seasoned. The fish taco was surprising. Filled to the brim with onions cabbage and tomatoes. The fried fish was reminiscent of Gortons fish sticks you get from the freezer (not hating on it, that's how I make fish tacos in a pinch). I actually kinda enjoyed them and if I wanted fish tacos quickly I probably would come back for them. But just for the fish tacos. I wouldn't come back for anything else. 2 stars go to the nice service and the fish taco. Afterwards I went to Taco Bell (wtf) and I ordered a taco supreme and a cheesy gordita crunch. I wished I had taken a picture. It was filled completely to the top with meat and cheese. They even wrapped it perfectly and not in a hurry. Everything tasted warm and fresh (for fast food) and it was a complete 180 to Jimboy's. read more

I have been coming here FOREVER, and I've always had a fine experience. Until today. I really want to chalk it up to being a Saturday, after the lunch rush, and possibly tons of Tahoe traffic. I really hope that's the case. The place was a disaster. I ordered chips and they came out on a dirty tray. Went to grab a fork, but the little bucket was filled with garbage. The chick taking our order was pretty much wearing pajamas and was on her phone. Hella classy. Which kind of explains the incorrect order. The tables were all pretty much a mess. And the chicken taco I ordered had a big ol slab of cheese (supposed to be shredded). I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a better experience next time. read more

Passing through the area, we stopped here for lunch on a friend's recommendation. We've never been to a Jimboy's, never eaten a Jimboy's taco. (We live in Oregon, they don't exist there.) So I have no idea if we didn't like Jimboy's tacos, or if we didn't like tacos at THIS Jimboy's. Either way, this was overpriced and awful. I'm a local and have eaten here before and it was fine, but today, July 9 at 6 p.m., I bought a combo of taco and enchilada with salad and beans, and it was the most greasy, inedible mess I have ever gotten from a fast food business. Stopped here on Sunday late afternoon, June 28th. Ordered 2 carnitas tacos, 1 beef & 1 beef burrito in the drive thru. When we got to window, we were handed a small bag with the burrito and 3 tacos - but a quick inspection revealed the tacos were nothing but old shaved lettuce and meat at the bottom - no cheese and no sauce. We asked for sauce and the woman staffing the window said "we are out of sauce" and slammed the window shut. The burrito was in the same condition: old shaved lettuce, meat and the wrapping. We had no recourse but to drive across the street and buy Tabasco from the Grocery Outlet Market in order to even eat the things. And, yes, they were terrible. The tortillas were grilled and greasy, the carnitas' meat was ok, but the lettuce was super sketchy looking and without sauce, all of it was inedible. I would not even give it a star, but there is no way to do that. Jimboy's Tacos are as awful as the staff. I don't think I have ever had a worse experience, street food included. read more

Waited in the drive thru for 20 minutes. Its a single lane so you cant exit once youre in. At the order menu, theres a sign that says cash only. We ask why its cash only and they rudely say "read the sign" . Well, we wait another 15 minutes just so we can exit without food. I typically enjoy Jimboys despite being a slightly higher for Mexican fast food. This location is absolutely terrible! I've visited a few times in the last couple months hoping maybe it was just short staffing, which everyone is these days, this place has the worst tasting food. A week ago I tried it again and sadly it was just awful!! Bean burrito was disgusting, the beans were not the normal beans that were always served and the beef taco was terribly burned on one side. They have a new method for payment and if you pay with debit card they are asking for a 20% tip, then $18, then 10% , I have no problem paying a tip when a tip is earned. This is fast food, they want $15 / an hour to work, which the job is to make food and hand it out the window. They are not doing anything further so this is Not a tipping environment! It seems that if you don't give them a tip you get horrible food. This is terrible business and I won't be supporting this location any time soon, despite it being so close. Such a shame!! When calling, the phone goes immediately to voice mail, which their voice mail is full and the phone never gets answered. I've had a decent experience at this Jimboys. Their tacos and super nachos are really good. It seems a little inconsistent with how much food you get with your order. The other only issue i've had with this location is the wait time. There could be 3 cars in the drive thru and you might wait 15-20 minutes. But sometimes a good taco is worth it. read more

Food is good, other Jimboys locations are better. My review is based on the girl behind the counter, Jessica. Upon arrival she was friendly but shortly after ordering she became to busy in conversation with the girl working drive thru. We gave her the empty container of salsa and asked it to be refilled. She rolled her eyes like she couldn't be bothered (we're the only ones here!) She called our order, went to grab it again greeted with eye roll and then started speaking in Spanish and giggling to co worker. I can understand Spanish and her words weren't kind. Both times the wait time was abysmally long, and the service staff appeared to be more interested in chatting with each other than taking care of customers. There was nothing impressive about the food; just typical fast-food Mexican gut-fillers. But there was one thing that really made the food a notch below, in my opinion: they dusted their tacos (and I presume other foods) with a Parmesan-like cheese. I've been told that this is a style in some part of Mexico, but it was very off-putting. I have grow up on Jimboy's Tacos from my 1960's Denios Farmers Market Days in Roseville. It was only tacos for me. Sometimes asking for extra meat and Cheese and cooked crispy. Later my favorite was at the end of Greenback Lane in Granite Bay then it was Arden Way in Sacramento tied with the Jimboy's on Cirby in Roseville. But if you want more than just a good taco go to the Placerville Jimboy's Tacos. The enchilada sauce is spiced and cooked to perfection. The beans and rice are healthy portions and the ground beef is chunky not smashed to pieces. This is defintely a dive... but a dive that I seem to habitually stop by to get some really greasy, heart-stopping tacos. Sure.. it's not the healthiest.... in fact.. that's part of its charm. You can go to taco bell and eat like 8 tacos... or you can come here, and eat 2 and be full. I've never had the $h1ts after eating here.. so that's a good thing because usually when I stop off here... it's in the middle of a long drive either up to the snow, or back home. Service was horrible in the Cameron Park California location. Walked in, a young man at the counter did not acknowledge us. We stood 3 ft from him as he never took his eyes off his phone. He then walked to the drive up window and started taking orders. We still stood in disbelief that no one said one word. Were we invisible?? Came here this past weekend while on our way back from a little spontaneous trip to see the snow. i honestly thought the food here wasn't going to be good cause i don't believe in fast food mexican restaurants. i will say this, i was proven wrong last evening. my friends and i all had the steak tahoe burrito with sides of guac and nacho cheese that we added to later on. these burritos are a pretty decent size and definitely do the job in filling you up. the only thing is that we took about 10-15 min or so waiting for the food even though we were the only ones there and it was 6pm. other than the wait, i would definitely recommend. read more

A few years ago this place used to have really good veggie burritos... now they are under new management and the food has gone waaay downhill. Its just gross now. I have eaten here for years, best tacos ever. Hadn't been there since pandemic so tried it Friday night, even though my mom warned me she will never go there again after her last visit. She loved Jim Boys, until last year when she said it had gone down hill and the food was terrible. Well, my husband and I ordered tacos (I ordered chicken but was presented with beef!) Whatever, I also like beef so went with it. Tacos were so greasy, I'm not sure that was hamburger in them as it looked like pudding. They couldn't offer me cilantro since they don't use it anymore (?) but did give me some chopped onions for my tacos. They used to have condiments like cilantro, onions, hot sauces, etc at self serve bar but no longer, now you get salsa for your chips in a tiny plastic cup (how are you supposed to dip your chips?) The place seemed ill kept and was empty and now I see why. I don't know what happened here over the last 2 years but they have gone downhill so far I will never eat here again!
