Came here this past weekend while on our way back from a little spontaneous trip to see the snow. i honestly thought the food here wasn't going to be good cause i don't believe in fast food mexican restaurants. i will say this, i was proven wrong last evening. my friends and i all had the steak tahoe burrito with sides of guac and nacho cheese that we added to later on. these burritos are a pretty decent size and definitely do the job in filling you up. the only thing is that we took about 10-15 min or so waiting for the food even though we were the only ones there and it was 6pm. other than the wait, i would definitely recommend. read more

I have eaten here for years, best tacos ever. Hadn't been there since pandemic so tried it Friday night, even though my mom warned me she will never go there again after her last visit. She loved Jim Boys, until last year when she said it had gone down hill and the food was terrible. Well, my husband and I ordered tacos (I ordered chicken but was presented with beef!) Whatever, I also like beef so went with it. Tacos were so greasy, I'm not sure that was hamburger in them as it looked like pudding. They couldn't offer me cilantro since they don't use it anymore (?) but did give me some chopped onions for my tacos. They used to have condiments like cilantro, onions, hot sauces, etc at self serve bar but no longer, now you get salsa for your chips in a tiny plastic cup (how are you supposed to dip your chips?) The place seemed ill kept and was empty and now I see why. I don't know what happened here over the last 2 years but they have gone downhill so far I will never eat here again! Every time I go to jimboys I am amazed by how bad the service is. I normally go drive thru and it has never been a good experience.... Reasons: They don't repeat orders back to you, or even what your total is... They overcharge me all the time! They don't give me a receipt when I use my debit card... Jimboys' tacos are terrific, but this store is marginal. The door was locked at 8:50pm and the lady told me they were closed but that I could go through the drive-in. Humm. I ordered a couple of Tacos through the drive in and they were not up to the usual standard of Jimboys, they were lukewarm and soggy, no onions or hot sauce. A real downer. First off I never leave reviews (bad or good) for restaurants, especially fast food, but this trip I could not help myself! Worst experience I've had as far as purchasing food is concerned. I went through the drive through and instead of a "hello, how are you" like most places, all I got from her was a "what can I get you" ; and I could hardly hear what the lady was saying through the speakers nor did she speak very good english. I asked if the dish I wanted had jalapenos on it (vegetarian super nachos) and she answered but I could not hear her so I asked her to repeat herself. She repeated herself with a very LOUD, RUDE tone of voice saying "NO!". Then when I get to the window she doesn't say a word the whole entire time I'm there. I waited for my food, no joke 12 minutes and nobody was even at the restaurant. The cashier just had an attitude and was far from friendly. It was most certainly obvious that she hated her job. So then the taste of my food...WHERE DO I BEGIN?? The tortilla chips in my nachos tasted stale yet they were as hard as a rock. The beans smelled like something I've never smelled before. Very off and had an unappetizing smell to them. The tomatoes were horrid. They were very squishy, runny and old. I could not bare to eat any of these nachos. I thought I was going to gag. I probably would have taken them back and demanded my money for them but I was already home and had to start getting ready for work. Plus they didn't give me my receipt. This was a VERY pleasant surprise. I was a little sketch to eat at anything called JIMBOYS especially a taco joint. Just didn't sound very authentic lol. I like adventure though. The staff was extremely nice. I ordered a 2 tacos with beans and rice..... CRAZ-AMAZE!! The tacos were soooooo different from what I was expecting. The only "fast food" I'll eat . Jimboys food is delicious. I order a #12, veggie burrito and chicken taco. Taco shells are a little greasy but otherwise excellent tacos! Very clean location, lighting is a little low and the urinal in the restroom has been broken for a month now. read more

Awful awful... the food was terrible and the service was even worse.. after ordering with a very rude worker, we waited a very long time in the drive through and thought we'll maybe the food will be fresh. No, we ordered a couple of tacos and bean burritos. We are the tacos, they were ehhh. Not really Jimboys best work but edible. We took one bite of the bean burritos and we both looked at each other like 'what is wrong with these' it was a very odd sour taste.. I immediately put mine down and back in the bag, my boyfriend took another bite and said 'yeah that's not right' I went back into the restaurant and there was no one at the register. The rude person at the drive thru window did not acknowledge me or the other two people waiting. It took about ten minutes until I finally waved her down and asked if anyone was helping customers in the restaurant, she was so rude and obviously not wanting to assist anyone. I told her the issue with the food and tried to give her my receipt. She rolled her eyes and asked someone from the back what she should do. They asked if we wanted them to make more burritos there was no option to get money back. My bf said just take new burritos. He is taking them for lunch today. Hopefully he does not get food poisoning I see people losing their minds in fast food places and never understood how it could get to that. Well I'm telling you now, I was pretty close to it myself yesterday at the Placerville Jimboys... I do not see this restaurant surviving much longer unless they make some big changes. read more

We got to this one by 9:19 pm and the doors were already locked. Employees were inside but wouldn't let us in even though it closes at 9:30 pm. We had backtracked to this location since we would be cutting it too close to get to Cameron Park by 9:30 and we were starving. NEGATIVE ONE STAR!! Todays Taco Tuesday, which I've always celebrated it with my fam. Anyhow... We pull up to Jimboys drive-thru. There are 2 vehicles in front of me (one being a large van). Our turn was up at the speaker. We sat & sat and sat and sat... I started recording the time. No greeting, no nothing. I said hello at least 5 times. I asked if the speaker was broken, are you there, hello (all with long pauses between each time asking a question). 4 cars behind me & 5 minutes on the stopwatch & still NO greeting, not one word. I finally honked in my Tahoe (loud horn) still nothing. I said screw it and drove up behind the van. As soon as I pulled forward, the employee who cannot multi-task for nothing took the guy behind me, order! I got to the window and she had the audacity to say 1, her headset speaker was off, and 2, the weight indicator in the drive-thru under the cars that alerts someone is at the speaker, was broken. So she said she doesn't know when someones at the speaker. So I said, "Well you must just randomly talk into your headset to know if someone's sitting at the damn speaker then?" Yet, she had NO issues taking the guy in front & behind me, orders. And then tried to blame the speaker and the "weight indicator " in the drive thru. A huge van in front of me & a tiny electric car behing me & she had no issues with them. If it weren't for the cook (whom I absolutely adore & have a lot of respect for), I would NEVER GO THRU THERE LOCATION AGAIN. Absolute nightmare! read more

The food is good. Service could use some help. Today I went at 9:35 started in the drive thru. When no one answered, I drove around after about 4 mind & just went in. Then it took someone to come take my order about another couple of minutes. I was the first order they took of the day. While awaiting my single chorizo & egg burrito 2 cars were served in the drive thru & the person who was after me in line got her elaborate 4 burritos & a couple other things order before me also. It took until 9:54 when I finally left with my one burrito. 20 mine is a fiasco. I only gave 2 stars & not 1 because the burrito was delicious. read more

I absolutely love this place. I'm also really thankful that we have a Jimboys in our little town. The tacos are fabulous-- just try finding a fresh fried taco shell any where else. I love the taco sauce. The combo burrito with ground beef is a dream. Yes, it's all greasy-- that's what makes it so yummy. Yes, you have to wait for it-- that's because they cook it to order. I would love to give this place zero stars, if that was an option. Like other reviewers said, this place used to be absolutely fantastic in the past. About a year or so ago, my husband and I visited Placerville and gave Jimboy's Tacos a try. The food was amazingly good for a fast food taco joint. We could hardly believe how delicious it was! The next time we visited, we were sad to see it all boarded up. We didn't know what happened (we've since learned from other Yelp reviewers that there was a fire). Over Labor Day weekend, we visited Placerville again - this time with our daughters. We were overjoyed to see that Jimboy's had reopened and raved about it to our kids. We were completely disappointed this time around. To start: the cashier who took our order had a terrible attitude. Then, when our food came, it was disgusting. It smelled and tasted terrible - I didn't eat most of my dinner. We were actually worried about getting food poisoning from the portion that we did eat. It was greasy (I know - all fast food is greasy - but this stuff was exceptionally bad), unappetizing looking and just generally awful. On top of that, it was overpriced. What a waste of $$$$! Thankfully, no one got sick. I can assure you that we will NEVER visit Jimboy's Tacos again. We were kicking ourselves for not checking Yelp before going. STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!!!! read more

My family loves Jimboys Tacos, sometimes going through the drive thru it a bit time consuming but always well worth the wait. The older woman who works the drive thru is SUPER sweet, if its storming she always wishes you a safe drive home, if the weather is nice she always wishes me to have a great day. Stay away from this Jim Boys. My father, my best friend AND myself have all gotten food poisoning from this place from their beef. 12 hours later and many hours at the toilet, and at last, I am finally free of whatever bacteria they fed me. I meant to review this company a while back, and just remembered when I ate their with the family recently. This restaurant always seems so empty. When we pulled up the other night we were the only car in the parking lot. But shortly after, to my surprise it got pretty busy. I don't know if its the location, cause they serve good food. I just went to eat at the Placerville Jimboys and it was the very worst dining experience I've ever had. I'm not young either! Every table was filthy. There was a large spill on the floor that someone simply threw napkins over and left. Someone could easily have slipped on that. There was an elderly gentleman who had to dodge it to find someplace to sit. When our order was ready, the trays smelled like moldy water. A young customer was at a table near us and was telling her friend "there was something black floating in her water". We were given the wrong quantity of tacos and incorrect change. I'd never eaten at this establishment before, but purchased a Groupon recently, so I went in to redeem. I was surprised to see the employee behind the counter wearing jeans and a grey sweatshirt and not a uniform of some sort. I ordered a 15 pack of beef tacos to go. When I got them home about 15 minutes later, there was so much grease, it had seeped through the individual papers the tacos were wrapped in, through the cardboard tray, and through the bag that the whole order was in. I was excited when Jimboys opened in Placerville. I had eaten at other locations and loved it. I loved this one to for a while. Then they hired a horrible rude girl who worked there and I wouldn't go back. One day about a year ago, I went back in and she was gone. I continued to go back. I love the breakfast burritos. They started serving them all day, and the Cameron Park location did too. Both locations had some really nice people working there, until a few days ago. We went in and ask for breakfast burritos. A new girl brusquely said, "No breakfast after 10:30." We left. We went back a couple days ago hoping mean girl would be gone. No such luck. We decided to stay and eat anyway because we had a groupon. The girl was very short with us again, and later was very rude to my husband when he asked for something. We heard her being rude to other customers also, so it wasn't just us. I hope that the owner of the Placerville Jimboys will read this and do something. I like Jimboys, but I won't go back for a while. If the same situation exists when I do go back, that will be it for me. read more
