HORRIBLE, AWFUL SERVICE! The manager (who has been there for several years) rented a unit to me on…read morethe first day of June for the purpose of storing my belongings for the month. The problem? When I went to store my belongings on June 2nd (Saturday), I found the unit I'd been leased taken/padlocked! While Sun offers 24 access, they do not have an off-hours/weekend contact in place which does no one any good on a Saturday afternoon. Having to move over the weekend and having no other choice at the time, I stored my things in an open/empty unit close to the one I'd rented and left two messages with the Sun office to call me first thing Monday morning. I had to call them when no one responded come Monday morning. The manager was very irritated that I took another unit (although I posted an apology note to the unit owner on the door) and took the time to follow up with Sun myself and she demanded that I either take my belongings and go, move to another unit in another building or move into my original unit once Sun had a chance to clean it out. After some back and forth we agreed that I would move my belongings into the original unit on either Monday or Tuesday evening after work and the manager told me she would have her "guys clean out Unit G115 for you today". Long story long, Sun did not clean out the unit for me to move into -- I found it packed with items (and unlocked I might add) upon my arrival at the facility Monday night after work -- and so I had to move everything a second time into a friend's basement. I demanded a full refund -- we'll see if I get it. The manager never took responsibility and at no time did she apologize for what was clearly her error in the first place. All she had to do was apologize for the mix-up, allow me to stay in the unit I'd taken because of her mistake and accommodate the owner's of that unit with another one (it wasn't even being used so I don't know what difference it would have made) but she refused to anything to compensate or to make the situation easier on anyone but herself. DO NOT USE SUN ISLAND STORAGE!!!!!

8 years ago when I used Burkhardt Movers, I had the most positive moving experience possible…read more Fast forward to 2023, and I wondered if they maintained their excellence. The bottom line is that you shouldn't waste time looking around, just use Burkhardt. One of the owners David came a week before the move, gave me a reasonable estimate and was incredibly personable. Then yesterday they sent two guys (Morgan and Kyle) who were absolutely tremendous. Sometimes you never know what you're getting with movers, but these two guys were courteous, listened to make sure that things were done the way I wanted, and they let me know on multiple occasions that they were dedicated to making sure that the job was done the way I wanted. And to make it even better, they were also focused on being efficient which meant that the move went smoothly and quickly without any feeling that they were cutting corners. It wasn't until later that I found out that Morgan is also a Burkhardt, and it gives me confidence that this company is going to be around for a long time. Moving is usually an emotional affair, but Burkhardt Movers were so fantastic that the sadness of the move was quickly replaced by gratitude for how pain-free they made the move. My friend about was looking for mover recommendations when I told her about my horrible experience…read morewith this company, She said I should warn others, so here I am. I had used this company years ago in the early 2000's and had a good experience. However, the time I used them again a few years ago was a nightmare, One of the owners came to my apartment to give me an estimate. I was getting rid of most of my furniture because it was old and/or broken. So basically all I had to move was a bedroom set, a couch, and some boxes. He quoted me two people because I did not have a lot to move. In fact, when I used them before I only had two people because I did not have a ton of furniture but much more than I had this time. Anyway, imagine my surprise when on moving day THREE people showed up. One of them said to me that they didn't have much work that day. Oh so I am supposed to pay for that? They know they have you though because moving is stressful enough without an argument. Plus, I stupidly thought it would go faster. WRONG! They were so slow that even with three of them there would be long gaps between getting furniture. I went outside at one point and saw the three of them just hanging out on the truck. So finally when everything was done I said ok I will meet you at the new place. One of them said, we have to stop at the office real quick. I get to my new place, and it took them over an hour and a half to arrive. I called their cell phone at one point because they had given me the number, but of course they did not answer. So when they finally showed up and moved me in, they way overcharged me. At least a third more than what I was quoted. I was so tired and worn out that I just paid it. I had to return to work the next day so it took me a while to unpack. That's when I started to notice that I was missing things, jewelry, handbags, designer sunglasses, china from my Grandmother, a huge jar full of change, clothes etc. The problem was i could not prove any of it. I also stupidly used bankers boxes so I did not seal them because I have never had a mover steal from me. One of the movers even said to me that I should not have used them! I was too stupid to realize that the reason they took so long to get to my new place was because they were going through my stuff to see what valuables they could take. I am still heartbroken because some of the things they took were family heirlooms which really only had sentimental value. Please do not hire these people at any price! I wish I had brought them to court, and I still might. Anyway, I am hoping I can spare someone else from their thievery.
