Giving Jimmy Clay 3 out of 5 stars because the golf course was just OK. There was a lot of mud in the cart lanes and there was trash on the course. The older gentleman in the golf shop was very brash with my mother in his tone, he was practically yelling in response to her questions, which was completely unnecessary. She also requested for women's golf clubs over the phone when making the tee time reservation and when we got there they only had men's clubs?! He also rushed us along to the course, when we were there 10-15 minutes early. I will say that one of two gentlemen in the golf shop were pleasant at check-in and while we paid for 9 holes, when we decided to continue on with the remaining 9 holes because someone in our group paid for 18 holes, they did not charge us for the additional holes, which was nice of them. All in all, it wasn't much of a memorable experience so I'd recommend giving other courses in Austin a try.

Had a great time - not a bad experience by any means. I'm sure there are better courses, but I would certainly come back again.

    Greens in May 2024.

Good austin course and very peaceful area. However, the greens may have been the worst greens i have ever played on.

This golf course has great potential. Plenty of parking the carts are in good working order. The course is very dry but that's normal for this time of year. Unfortunately they are doing major renovations seems like storm or sewer or water pipes are everywhere on a couple of holes. They warn you in advance. It makes for interesting play. I will try and play this course again when the greens are a little more plush. Today they were super dry and fast.

This is a great golf course, all things considered. It's a public muni, so you can get on for a fair price. It's $17.50 on the weekdays and a mere 20 bucks on the weekends. (cart is extra). The course is relatively flat and can be considered "links" style, although you won't be facing the winds of Scotland or the sandtraps of the Old Course here. However, if you like to grip it and rip it with little adverse consequence, I'd recommend heading to Jimmy Clay. As a note, the grass is always so green because the course is built on top of an old landfill, where years of decomposing materials have infused the soil with nutrients.

The fairways were in wonderful shape. However, the greens are very poor and probably 80% dirt. .

I spent five days in Austin and came back to the spot twice! Has the best vibes, great staff, cool swag (love the Sunday bag and country club shirts)and a great beverage selection. Depending on the time that you go, there might be a wait, so grab a drink and enjoy practicing chipping, putting, cornhole, or socializing. The course has fun billboards (Caddyshack and Ron ) and comical Greenskeepers. I was impressed by how nice the greens are. Honestly, much better than some of my local 18 public courses! Restrooms are clean and easy to access. Two unisex so plan accordingly :) I cannot emphasize enough, how amazing their customer service is. This is a great spot run by great people.

Disclaimer: Did not come to play golf, but it is definitely still on my Austin bucket list!…read more What I actually came to do was grab some discounted merchandise from the Sierra Madre women's golf brand sample sale to celebrate their 3rd anniversary. I also got a ton of free products from the Bloom Nutrition "booth". The waiting/gathering area was cute and I was able to get a spot by the office where folks sign up for a round. Based on what others told me that day, they had a large high school group come in & back up everyone else. The wait was several hours long. Next time they should have just closed the business for the whole day, half day, or just until the large group finished the course. This way others are not inconvenienced. Otherwise, I feel like it'd be a fun experience with great views and I can't wait to come here with family or friends!

We got a table pretty quickly in a smaller section, which was nice because it wasn't very crowded where we were sitting, even though there were several larger groups elsewhere in the restaurant. One thing to know before you go: check to see if there's a special event scheduled. Events can close the entire place for the evening, so it's worth checking ahead of time. We spent about an hour and a half there. Our table ordered a variety of food, and everything we had was good. The servers were very attentive and kept our drinks filled throughout the evening. I had two Old Fashioneds, and they were excellent. All in all, we spent about $168. Between the food, drinks, attentive service, and fun downtown atmosphere, it was a great evening and a place we'd gladly visit again.

We figured we would stop in for a drink before ending our night. I hadn't heard of Electric Shuffle so I didn't realize it was a shuffleboard bar. When I walked in and looked around, it had an odd familiarity to it. It then dawned on me that it reminded me of Flight Club and I found out later in the evening that it is owned by the same hospitality group. We sat at the bar. James was our bartender and he was the only one behind the bar for most of the night. He was very friendly and attentive (I don't think my water glass was ever empty). Just like Flight Club, they offer both food and drinks. There's a decent amount of tables throughout the space for patrons who aren't playing shuffleboard. I wanted to order the Cucumber Elderflower G+T, but James informed me that they ran out of Elderflower. None of the other gin and vodka drinks piqued my interest so I switched it up and went with a Ranch Water. It was really good and I liked that it was dressed with Tajin and lime. Shannon had a Watermelon Sugar Mojito which she enjoyed. We didn't play shuffleboard, but we did walk around. Some of the shuffleboards were in semi-private rooms, while others were out in the main dining area. There's four different game modes and everything is digital which is convenient for score keeping. We absolutely loved the decor. They had throwback vinyl, cassette tapes, and CDs as well as Walkmans, boomboxes, and record players. It was super cool and nostalgic. I've never played shuffleboard, but it looks like a lot of fun. We loved the chill vibe of the bar and it was a great place to end our night.

I've since been taking lessons with Flint Nelson who has been awesome. From 4 lessons I just played the best few rounds of golf I've had in the last year! Flint played golf in college and knows exactly how to teach others by giving information but not too much - just enough to digest and then let's you repeat and work on it until you're feeling good before moving on. The technology itself is awesome. I think the view from the front / back is key to understanding how to improve your golf swing. At Westlake they have tons of Parking and 3-4 bays with simulators in them for you to come practice in and use whenever you need to tweak your swing or just to practice from lessons etc. have taken my whole family since I started and we all love it so much - can't recommend this place enough!

The younger guy fitting me had no idea what he was doing. He didn't ask anything about my golf game other than my handicap. He didn't consider swing speed at all nor did he look at loft, lie, or gapping. There was no consideration of shaft also, it's like he grabbed the first one he saw off the wall. I'm a 20 year old guy with 92ish mph club head speed for a 7 iron. I shouldn't be hitting 95g Regular stiffness shafts, which is what he gave me to hit and told me to get. He had no insight into each club or my swing. Additionally, he was pushing me to purchase lessons on top of the fitting. It felt like I was at a car dealership. A 1 hour fitting totaled $125 which is outrageous for the lack of knowledge and result. Don't make the same mistake I did.
