By far the worst bar in Southside. Always crowded (that's not even really a complaint), bartenders take forever to come to you, top floor bends (safety hazard), and don't even get me started with the bouncers. Those guys are the worst part of this whole thing. They're the most unwelcoming people you could ever meet. They're worse than the guys at Tequila Cowboy in Northshore. You can be as positive and cordial with them and you're still at risk of not making it in. Even after the long line outside, if I might add. They act like they're at the front door of a high class club, I got news for you guys, you're by far the most trashy bar on East Carson St. If you're planning on going to Jimmy Ds, do yourself a favor and reconsider. You'll save a lot more time, money, and headaches at any of the other bars along E Carson. read more

Jimmy D's is one of my favorite clubs! Never had a bad experience there. The crowd and bartenders are friendly, even if at times the bartenders can be VERY slow. Good priced drinks. Of all the times I've been there, less than a handful of times the DJ was below average with the music. The place gets packed really fast and at that point it gets kind of annoying to squeeze past everyone. Also wish they had more than 1 bathroom for women. read more

We were really excited for a night out in Pittsburgh as it was our friends bachelorette party and all 7 of us had never been to the area before. The bar owners refused to let us in because we were wearing sports gear that was of the opposing team. The men at the front door were extremely rude and I cannot understand that they did not want 7 women willing to spend money in the establishment for a special occasion there. My friend, who was over 21 and sober, got turned away randomly for wearing timberlands. Staff were absolute jerks about the whole thing. I enjoy going out and clubbing once in a blue moon. This has some of the most lively group of people. There always seems to be a bunch of people and it's good that security is surrounding the place. If you enjoy dancing, house, trance, and hip-hop this place has a little bit of everything. Also, the ambiance is cool. Lastly, there is rarely a cover. But I recently visited and one of the security guys used excessively offensive language towards one of the other patrons, and when I brought this to his attention, he was equally rude to me. Their dress code is an excuse to be homophobic. I was wearing the exact same articles of clothing every other bro was to this bar, and they discriminated against me specifically for the purposes of not wanting a gay man in their bar. Went in wearing tight jeans, the same as the guy in line behind me. And they told me I was not allowed in, but let the guy behind me in the same outfit in. This is an ongoing issue with jimmy d's and has been highlighted all over social media. When asking the on duty officer why I wasn't let in but the guy behind me in the same outfit was, his response was "they reserve the right to specifically not allow whoever they feel necessary". So in other words, they can discriminate if they don't want gay people, and they can exclude you if they feel like it. Great response from a group that are supposed to be peace keepers in society. They lost my 100$ this night. And my ongoing business in the future. Shame. Any bar who starts on this path usually closes within a few years. Terrible place with terrible staff. Last summer, while on a busy night, my friend went to grab our group's drinks at the bar. That night the bar that accepted credit there was unexpectedly closed and I was without cash. My friend handed me my drink, I turned around, and accidentally knocked over another woman's drink. She was upset, verbally assaulting me to pay for a new one. I incessantly apologized and said that I didn't have cash, but I told her I would Venmo her or try to find an ATM. A bouncer saw the incident and approached me. Assuming I was harassing the woman, he kept asking me what my problem was. I tried to explain what had happened and that I am gay and wasn't harassing her, all the while still offering Venmo as a solution. The moment I said I was gay, the bouncer said he didn't "f*** with people like me", grabbed me by my jacket, and threw me towards the steps. Continuing to verbally harass me, he grabbed my collar and escorted me down the steps and out the door. I have never experienced a night of such targeted and blatant homophobia in my life. I urge you not to give this discriminatory staff your business. read more

I wish I could give this less than one star. My friend (female) had her boob grabbed by a guy. So she yelled at him and pushed him away. Then the bouncer came up and grabbed her. He escorted her out because she pushed a male customer (ONE WHO GRABBED HER BOOB). We explained the situation and they said they didn't care and that she didn't served to be there. It was everything i would want from a Dance Club. I have no problem with the price of drinks or the atmosphere. However you should be warned that their bouncers are complete morons. One of my friends got treated barbarically. While she was dancing, enjoying herself, and doing no harm, one of the security guards came up and forcefully grabbed her by the arm. I asked him why he was doing this and his response was "You're a tough guy aren't you?". When we got outside the bouncer had her show her I.D. to the cop that was perched outside (which was a non-issue because she's 27 and looks like a 27 year old). The bouncer that took her outside told the bouncer at the door to not let her us back inside. That was another nonissue, because any business that condones that kind of behavior towards women (or any person in general) will not get any of my money. I went ahead and read some of the other reviews, and I'm not the first to post about the security/bouncers kicking people out for no good reason. I will not be going back their ever again i pray something is done about their bouncers behaviors, before someone gets seriously hurt. read more

If I could give zero stars for this review I would. A group of us from out of town decided to go out after catching a game at the ballpark. After bar hopping in the "southside" district, a group of locals told us to check out Jimmy D's for a good bar to dance in. Walking up to the bar, we were refused entrance due to our attire, which was t-shirts and jerseys for the opposing team. The bouncers were outright rude and offensive. When asked why denied entrance the reason they gave was "we have the right to refuse business to anyone for any reason, since this is a private establishment". They said they thought that the fact that we were wearing clothes representing another team would upset the other patrons and cause a fight. The fact that a local bar would refuse business is just baffling to me, especially a group of young women looking to have a great time and celebrate a special event. To make it worse the police officer standing at the front door was rude, misogynistic, and demeaning to a group of people that was just asking why such a rule was in place- we were just trying to have a great time visiting this new city. What a way to portray Pittsburgh bars in a negitive light. I would recommend for anyone visiting the city to save yourself and go anywhere else. read more

Had a great time here! Went here the weekend I turned 21 and had the best time. Drinks were very reasonably priced. They had a special going on. The DJ was playing all the hits. Now and throwbacks too. Bartenders were extra friendly too and were in great moods. I ALWAYS bring cash because bartenders are looking to be able to walk out with the money in their hands. Even the security guards and the guys at the front door were friendly! Upstairs is the place to be if your looking to party. Two bars uptop. One on each side. And downstairs is more chill. VIP both upstairs and downstairs. Overall great experience. Only giving 4 stars though because they were mistreating people around me. But MY experience was awesome. There were 5 of us at the bar, and we each had one drink. There was a package of roses on the ground, unattended. My friends and I (along with other people) were waving the roses around while dancing. The roses ended up falling apart and the peddles were falling on the ground. One of the security guards grabbed my brother by the arm and started forcefully pushing him out of the bar and saying "you know why you're being kicked out." My brother asked him why he was being kicked out and he said "you know why, you retard." Then, I proceeded to say "I'm sorry, can I please ask why I'm my brother is getting kicked out," and he said "because the bar tender wanted him kicked out."That was the only answer he gave us, and refused to give us a reason why, and continually held my brother's arm behind his back and forcefully kicked him out of the bar. Completely uncalled for, especially when the security was so forceful when we were being very cooperative. Also, to call someone a "retard" is so inappropriate. read more

I stopped in here on a Tuesday night because a show that I intended to go to was sold out. They had a sign in the front door advertising $2 domestics and $2 well drinks so my friend and I thought it would be a good place to sit & have a few drinks since now we had nothing else to do. So it comes time to get our bill and the waiter just says to us, your total is $$, whatever it was. It sounded high so we asked for an actual receipt. He wrote on a piece of paper, 3 of drink 1 total $$, 3 of drink 2 total $$. So we ask about the total explaining that according to the sign in the door our check should have been less than half of what he was telling us. He tells us those prices start at 10:00 (and it's only about 9:45 when we were leaving). We advised him that the sign didn't have a time on it. Then he comes back with my credit card and the receipt to sign and tells us that the $2 beer of the night is Heineken and since that isn't what we ordered either, that's why we were charged more. I was as though he was trying to build his case up for himself instead of just apologizing and comping a drink for each of us. We then advised him that the sign didn't specify any particular beer at all and simply said $2 domestics. The waiter didn't offer anything else but a half sincere apology but 2 minutes later as we were leaving, we noticed they took the sign out of the door. I emailed them the next day to hopefully let a manager know what happened and I have yet to receive a reply. It's been 3 weeks now. With all the bars out there, this isn't one I will be going back to. read more

Never been here before but all my friends said I need to make a trip down to southside for my birthday, as were waiting in line my friend Haley was smoking a cigarette, she's been there before and told the bouncer outside as we were approaching she knows there's no smoking inside she was just smoking in line then throwing the cigarette out before entering, the one bouncer outside (average height a little big) tells her she better get rid of it while in line, my friend responded that she's been there before and knows they don't care if you smoke inline just can't smoke inside and she would throw it out the bouncer clearly beyond angry for no reason tells her to get lost he's not allowing her in, at this point there's one person in front of our group getting ready to enter, when we all approach she throws her cigarette out and hands her ID to him, he screams in her face to get the fuck out cocks his hand back like he's about to punch her in face and that's when I jumped in the middle, not only was this guy extremely rude and ignorant to people just waiting to get in but to react in such a way that he goes to punch a 120ib female that did nothing wrong is beyond me, not to mention the two other bouncers just stepped back and looked away as if they didn't just see this man do that my group and the entire line behind us left after that, disgusted with this whole place. read more
