Maybe she was just doing that to speed things up but anywho by the time I got to the cashier window my order was ready to go. Food quality is just what I expected as with all the rest of the Subways. No issues with my sandwich. Fresh bread, double thinly sliced turkey breast and provolone cheese, toasted to perfection with my usual tomatoes and lettuce only. Several eye contacts were made with me just standing there waiting. Why isn't the ketchup already on the tray? I ordered the Whopper Jr with lettuce, tomato, and cheese only. I received the burger with onion on it. I ordered onion rings because I really love their onion rings. They were still as good I remember them. The burger was okay. Upon finishing our meal I noticed that there were three backs in the pieces that were left over. How do you get three backs out of 1.5 chickens? It's seems a small thing to complain about but at $50 for the meal the backs have nearly no meat on them and so it actually raises the cost of the meal. Not all A&Ws are the same or have the same menu. Some I've gone in are very modern and have the typical surly fast food help, sticky chairs, and so-so food with good rootbeer. Pulling into this A&W seems like little has changed in all the right ways. Pickup trucks lined up on our side with farmers, construction workers, and other blue-collar folks to have lunch. Friendly staff come out to the car and take your order, only now they have remote card readers. But the menu board painted on plywood in front of the cars is still there. The waitresses still wear those chrome change devices on their hips and they still know how to count back change correctly (few people do anymore). Our food came out fast, it was good and fairly priced. We listened to the farm report and investment news for agriculture on the radio while we enjoyed a meal from the tray mounted on the window. Even simple things like bringing out a cold bottle of catchup for the fries instead of those little wasteful foil packets that create a lot of trash matter. When you're done, you turn on your headlights and someone comes out and collects the tray. As we drove away I put on a 50s rock and roll playlist on my iPhone and we both said if we lived here we would be in every week. To set the scene: we come in to an EMPTY dining room. 2 couples came in from the time we sat to the time we left. Meaning they were NOT BUSY, in fact they were dead for 5pm! Little fry was $4.35+tax. When we got the bag we were extremely surprised by the LACK of fries. There were like 14 fries in all haha! It was literally JUST the small tiny white container of fries , no extra. We have been going for 9 years and always get more dumped in, like extra fries at the bottom of the bag... so we're like "maybe with inflation they can't do the usual amount?" Which we would have been understanding of - we were totally cool with it at first and mentioned eventually it might happen. We decided to ask for confirmation. I got up from eating and walked to the food grab table where the young teen boy who was manning the fry station stood, and asked "have you changed the amount of fries you give customers for little fries?" He responds: "no" . (No other inquiry back, no "how can I help you".) I say "we are used to getting like a healthy helping in the bag, bottom of bag full of fries". Teen boy responds by just *smirking* and *shrugging his shoulders* at me. No words spoken at all, so I just go back and sit down. But the way he just blew me off and wouldn't offer more than ONE word to us was weird & surprising to us and the other 2 employees (whom we didn't recognize either) acted like nothing was amiss and ignored my standing there and my comment about the fries. We continued to eat but it wasn't good because our bread was stale (possibly not enough butter during toasting because it was like hard & dry but still white and flaking off, not golden buttery toasted and not keeping integrity . ), the cheese was not melted - it was cold cheese; not drooping over the sides of the burger, just sticking straight out like a square and cold. This cheese occurrence has happened to us a handful of times in the past year and we were already getting weary that food quality was going downhill...and lastly, the hamburgers were dry, not yummy, not dripping with oil like we love ha!. Reminder: they were dead slow, we ordered food in an EMPTY dining room and then only 2 couples came in staggered in the duration we ate. They were not swamped. They had plenty of time to get the food right, especially for dine-in. If a DM or GM reads this, check your receipts for timestamp proof. We wanted to go up and give them the burgers back and explain about the quality issues, but after that response we just knew there was no reason. My boyfriend commented "place is going downhill".
