My Jimmy Johns experience at the Leonard/Fuller GR location. 7/11/25 1:30 PM I was attracted in because they advertised "Subs now toasted". Well it turns out that only a select number of subs are toasted. I would have to order a more expensive sandwich and hold three ingredients to get it toasted. I declined to do that as it would have doubled the price of my sandwich. I declined that. I wanted a turkey sub with cheese but found out that cheese was 2 dollars extra! Wow! that makes a twenty pack of Kraft singles $40! I declined the cheese. Still needing something extra on my sandwich, I wanted dejon mustard. They don't have it. Funny... the last time I went to JJ they did. Brown sandwich mustard? Not carried. Just plain yellow. A specialty sandwich shop with only plain mustard? Disappointing! I ordered banana yellow peppers. Didn't have them, either. What I got was ok, but certainly not anything special. I know the sub shop down the street has it all, and you can see the ingredients. I later found you can't see them on the JJ website unless you start an order??? Make sure you ask for a receipt, a bag, water or a napkin. They will not offer them to you at checkout. I didn't get a confirmation on what my sandwich had on it or a "Thanks, come again." when I picked up my sandwich. Also... no provision is available for locking up a bike outside. I found it frustratingly difficult to stretch my cable around a lamp post because of the wide base. read more

The employees were friendly. We got our food fast. It was fresh and delicious. I give only 4 stars since they did skimp on the tomatoes.

Before reviewing this particular JJ's I need to say that I am a huge fan of JJ's in general. I often crave their beach club but on wheat bread instead of the sub bun. If not my perfect sandwich it is definitely up there. I was hanging with some friends on a Tues night and just after 6pm we ordered 3 sandwiches & 2 bags of chips to be delivered. The food took a really long time to get there - like 35 or 40 min which my friends said was pretty unusual for this location. The food arrived and we were all hungry so we dug in. Friend #1:" Uhm, my sandwich has lettuce on it, you must have mine." Friend #2: "No, mine has lettuce too. In fact is it a roast beef sandwich and I didn't even order a roast beef" I slowly open my sandwich, figuring it is right because they did remember to swap out the bread but no...there is no avocado on mine. The avocado is what makes the sandwich complete for me so I was pretty disappointed. Friend #2 calls the restaurant. "Hi, I just had an order delivered and only the chips were right" *pause* "Well 1 sandwich has lettuce when I requested no lettuce, one is missing avocado & 1 is completely the wrong sandwich" *pause* "Well I don't know how you could have done it either but I am not lying and you will see that when you bring me new sandwiches". Repeat variations of the above conversation 2 or 3 times. At this point Friend #2 is getting pretty mad. Apparently the guy on the phone keeps going on and on about how busy they are and he doesn't see how they could have messed up the order. I am not trying to be rude here but I don't really care how you did it. It happened and I would like a replacement please. After Friend #2 makes several attempts to try to help the guy he says to her "sending more" and hangs up the phone. Friend #2 calls back and when someone new answers the phone she explains what has happened and says the last person hung up on her. She asks if "sending more" means they knew the address without her having to provide it & says we really don't want spit in our food. The new guy assures her that there will not be spit in our food and they are sending out new sandwiches asap. The replacement sandwiches arrived pretty quickly which was greatly appreciated. What surprised me was they wanted the wrong sandwiches back. In a way I understand but at the same time, we all touched them and they were in someones home so you know they were going in the trash back at the store. I think because the 1st guy on the phone made my friend feel like she was lying, taking back the sandwiches really made us think they thought we were lying to get free stuff. The way they handled it just left me with a weird vibe. My sandwich was yummy. Both Friend 1 & Friend 2 had burnt sub buns and were pretty disappointed. If there was spit in any of them we didn't notice but I am pretty sure they were spit free. My friends swear they order frequently and have never had anything like this happen in the past & never having had a bad experience at another JJ's I won't give up on this one. We all have a rough night now and then. My biggest concern was the customer service factor. Hopefully next time I go here it will be a better time overall. read more

Their take-no-prisoners approach shatters boundaries and pushes the paradigm from what we believe hotdogs "should" be, to what hotdogs "can" be. Kosher beef frank? Throw it out, we won't need that where we're going. Put a half pound of deli-sliced 100% Angus beef on that boy and let Jimmy John himself steer this hotdog starship to infinity and beyond. White bread bun? Pitch that hunk of junk and trade on up to a top of the line artisan french bread role. Mustard, onions, and relish? You've gotta be siller than those clowns in congress if you think those will help your hotdog make history. Replace those garbage toppings with some tomatoes, provolone, and hot peppers, and you've got yourself a masterpiece. Get them all together in under 30 seconds, throw in chips and a drink, and you've got yourself a Jimmy John's gourmet submarine-style hotdog™. read more

I Love me some sandwiches and overall I like JJ's. I really enjoy their Italian Night Club. It's pretty hard to mess this sammy up, which is probably one of the reasons I love it so. I ordered it up with the friendly counterpeople and moved to the side to wait for it. During this time, another customer walked up and asked what the alfalfa sprouts were. The staff tried to explain it to her, but in my sleepy state, I decided to take it upon myself to give her the scoop. "Sprouts look like hair," I told her. "And they taste like grass." Have you ever said something you didn't mean to say and at the same time, see the words coming out of your mouth, unable to grab them back? That's exactly what this was like. Everyone in a five foot radius stared at me. Amazingly, that was also the exact moment my sandwich was ready, so I took it and slunk out of the shop. Arriving home, still pink-cheeked from my sprouts lesson, I ate the hell out of that sandwich. The bread was kinda stale but the taste was pretty damn good. Not the best culinary experience, but I did manage to embarrass myself in public again, and as we all know, that's priceless. read more

So I ordered a sub with chips and a drink for delivery. Delivery guy shows up with everything but my drink. He is super apologetic and tells me he's heading back for it. He comes back and brings me a size larger and is again super apologetic. Accidents happen but this was a great gesture. Way to go, JJ. read more

They are mostly friendly and deliver in a reasonable amount of time but rarely get your order right. For example when I ask for no cucumbers they remove another item instead and add extra cucumbers and so on. read more

I get Jimmy John's about 3x per week and usually never at this location because I have heard it is the worst JJ in Grand Rapids. I ordered the vegetarian. At first there was so little avocado spread that I didn't think it was even on there. Then I saw it between only TWO pieces of cheese and had to be no more than 1tsp. I called because clearly this had to be a mistake and the avocado alone is at least $1 to add on. I was told to look closely because they had to cut back. It was costing them too much so now the "regular" portion is 1 tsp. You might as well not put it on the sandwich. Also, the worker was rude on the phone and offered nothing as compensation for the fact I drove all the way to this JJ and no one ever mentioned the avocado downsizing. All I needed was an apology. love the food and the service... yum. It's a healthy alternative to most fast food services, and it doesn't taste like crap. I don't think there is anything bad about thid place. The people are friendly, the food is incredible, and I know that when I hear "Welcom to Jimmy Johns" that it's like being welcomed home. read more

This particular store has always had good customer service. On one occasion they were late on a delivery but most deliveries happen within a few minutes. The staff is always helpful and quick to greet you when you walk in the door. read more
