I put in a pick up order after work and when I arrived, it had been almost 30 minutes and was still not ready. It didn't bother me at first, but when I got my food, I had two giant sandwiches and ended up with five small ones. They completely forgot the sides. I went back in and told them about it and to my amazement, one of the workers who had just finished touching other stuff opens up my sandwiches in front of the register and proceeds to touch and pull apart each sandwich. I told him about touching the sandwiches. He replied "I have gloves on." It is unsanitary and disgusting. I ended up just asking for a refund and going to the one in Elmwood. read more

What do you mean I have to wait?? I was really surprised that it took about 25 min for my food to be ready. I'm so use to having my order done in lightning fast time that when I found myself standing in the store waiting, I was shocked. Dinner time must be their peak so I would avoid ordering around then if you want something quick. Plenty of staff hard at work preparing subs or stocking supplies. Staff are semi friendly but you could tell they was tired! Food is always the same though so no complaints when it comes to that. Barely any meat!! I normally have great experience with Jimmy John's but not this time. I ordered a turkey unwich with avocado and hot peppers. The delivery time was right around 30 minutes which is normal. I barely even had full slices of turkey as you can tell from my picture. C'mon! Whoever made this had to have known it wasn't enough turkey. With delivery and tip, it was around $10. I will never pay for this ever again. They have great delivery service, convenient when I'm backed up at work, but this will never be worth it. I've never left a 1 star rating, so it must've been bad. read more

I have no idea what I was expecting. My sandwich (roast beef and turkey) was cold and rather bland. It just seemed like something I could have made at home. While I cannot gripe about that too much because I could have just made a sandwich at home, I still was expecting a bit more. In a city famous for its poboys I'm so surprised Jimmy Johns has made a name for itself here in New Orleans. I personally really like Jimmy Johns. I am a creature of habit and usually order the same sandwich every time, but I really need to be more open to trying a different sandwich. One thing I'm thankful for right now about this sandwich shop is that they will make any sandwich you want in a lettuce wrap instead of the bread, and they call it an unwich. I know I'm crazy for not eating that famous bread because it's seriously awesome. I was hungry after fasting for a procedure at the hospital. First place I saw was jimmy johns 4301 Vets. Got a giant big johns and a beach club to take home. What a disappointment with both ! Man I love me some Jimmy John's!!! Every once in awhile I need to satisfy my sandwich fix and about 99% of the time this is the place I do it at. Their delivery really is FAST and the drivers are always super friendly and nice which I know isn't a huge factor for most, but I can't tell you how many times a pizza delivery guy has had an attitude with me about how long it took for them to find my apartment. (Like why didn't you just call me and I would have met you by the gate?! Jesus!! This isn't rocket science!!). Anyways...I digress...a friendly delivery person is definitely a plus in my book. My personal all time favorite is the #9 Italian night club add hot peppers but I've had a lot of other ones and nothing really disappoints here. There's something so satisfying about those white bread hoagie rolls too. Although they do have sandwich bread and unwich lettuce wraps upon request which is nice in case your trying to count those calories. And this may seem like an odd compliment but their website makes online ordering super user friendly and easy to customize. Their sea salt and vinegar chips are also a favorite for me. Super salty just like I like them. In case that resonates with anyone else who considers themselves to be a sea salt and vinegar chip connoisseur such as myself. On February 23, 2022, my daughter and I placed an order thru the drive-thru at the Veterans Memorial Blvd location. We happened to be in that area at the time and decided to pick up sandwiches to take home. Upon our arrival home, we proceeded to unwrap our sandwiches and eat. Needless to say, one of the sandwiches was not prepared as we ordered. My daughter called the store to let them know about the error and to make arrangements to get a sandwich prepared as per the original order. She spoke to a male employee and asked if we could possibly get the replacement sandwich from a store closer to our home. At first, he said no, we'd have to drive back to the original store (11 miles). However, after placing the call on hold, he came back to the line and said that we could go to the store, which is closer to our home, which is located at 404 N. Carrollton Ave, New Orleans (2.4 miles). He asked my daughter for her name and telephone number and told her that she could go to the store on N. Carrollton Ave, give them her name & telephone number, and the $10 credit would be there. Needless to say, upon my arrival (I went instead of my daughter) to get the sandwich, the story had changed. The N. Carrollton Ave. store said that's not how it's done and that I would have to go back to the original store! I called my daughter to let her know what was going on and she called the original store back and told them what was going on. She requested a manager and had the "displeasure" of speaking to the manager, Sarah. Sarah told my daughter that she was standing right next to the male employee during the first call and that she heard what he said, and he "did not" say that we could pick up the sandwich from another location! So now, my daughter is being called a "liar", pretty much!!! I ordered the sandwich anyway, but due to the fact that I was not expecting to pay, I hadn't brought a lot of money with me! So, I had to scrape up the $8+ to pay for the sandwich. I paid with dollar bills, coins, and (2) different pre-paid debit cards!!!! I returned home furious, to say the least. I called Jimmy John's Customer Service Department and I spoke to Michael. Michael took all of the pertinent information and assured me that someone would call me back in 24 hours. No one called. On March 3, 2022, still no call back!!! So, I recalled checking the status. I was advised that the owner (s) of the franchise on Veterans Memorial Blvd decided that they "WOULD NOT" be calling me back!!! Basically, they were saying that I could kick rocks and that I am not a valued customer!!! No wonder the management and employees are so rude, disrespectful, and lack customer service skills! It starts at the top!!! They have no leadership! No one to teach them better! No worries though. Not another damn dime of mine will be spent at any Jimmy John's!!! And after reading other reviews about this location, it seems as though this type of treatment is the norm! The manager Sarah, her name is mentioned (not in a good way) on more than one occasion. Woohoo, we've got a Jimmy John's now! I love that it's in Metairie because I hate having to go to the busy, touristy sections of the city to eat. It's in a really casual location, so I can grab a sub after my Target shopping. Very convenient. I am hooked on their veggie club. I never really enjoy most veggie sandwiches unless I order sauces to hide the mediocre veggies on it. You don't have to use sauces here to have some flavor. I also love that they have sprouts (my fav!) on the menu. The bread is amazingly good. Everything is really fresh and doesn't have that "previously frozen, thawed out" taste to it. Iced veggies are gross and the flavor is never the same. No iced veggies here, thank goodness. It's the best sub place, hands down. Subway, Quiznos, the rest...they don't even begin to compare. I love Drew Brees. Yeah, there was that whole Super Bowl thing once upon a time... but now, more importantly, he brought a Jimmy John's to NOLA! Well, the 'burbs, but NOLA enough for me. Much like Drew, I went to college in Indiana. While most of the time I tried my best to avoid chain restaurants, Jimmy John's was a frequent quick takeout/delivery treat. Fresh bread, fresh toppings, "freaky fast" service, cheap eats - you can't go wrong! It's better in terms of quality and service than Subway, at a comparable price. The only chain sandwich shop that I would trade Jimmy John's for would be a Panera Bread (maybe another Saints player can open one of those, preferably on the Westbank... hmmm). Anyway, this location was a little confusing upon entering, especially during the busy lunch hour rush. You walk in, go past the line of people waiting for food, and head to the counter where the cash registers are. Place your order, then go wait for your sandwich to be made. They'll call your order out, so be sure to be listening... and remember what you ordered! Feel free to customize your sandwich. Personally, I hate mayo, so my usual is a Turkey Tom with their sauce instead of mayo. Mmm. $4.89 after tax, and worth every penny. The service was friendly, and for the huge lunch crowd, I'll consider it to be freaky fast. Gourmet sandwiches? Jimmy John's is my new favorite sandwich shop. For those times when I'm not in the mood for a poboy and want something more like a sub, hero, hoagie, or whatever you wish to call it, JJ is now my spot to get it. Why? Very simple: the menu is streamlined, the ingredients fresh and flavorful, and the service fast. It also doesn't hurt that the basic 8" sandwich is just $4.50. To back up a bit, I had never actually had Jimmy John's until back in October when I was interviewing with a company in Indiana and they gave all the recruits sandwiches for lunch. At that point JJ had only recently opened a store in Metairie and I just hadn't been to it. I mean, one sandwich shop is just like the others, right? WRONG. Subway has some good bread but the meat leaves so much to be desired. Quizno's has great meats and toppings but their bread is ho-hum and their pricing more than the quality you get. Then there's Jimmy John's which strikes a great balance with really fresh and tasty sandwiches at a good price. And yes, they are FAST. It's kind of their gimmick. So far I've had the Vito, which is their Italian sub with genoa salami, provolone, capicola, onion, lettuce, tomato, and Italian vinaigrette. This just might be my favorite sandwich. Really. My other regular choice is the Turkey Tom: fresh sliced turkey breast, topped with lettuce, tomato, alfalfa sprouts, and mayo. I like to add avocado spread to mine. Both sandwiches have been stellar every time I've gotten them. Lastly, I'll address the chatter about poboys. No, Jimmy John's is not a poboy shop. It's not trying to be. These are the sandwiches that people not in Louisiana eat. It's different bread, a different style, a different beast. So Drew Brees brought us a fancy Subway's huh?! HA! Honestly, I was expecting something bigger and crazier just because Drew Brees has his name in it. The place was pretty small. They advertise themselves as "Gourmet Sandwiches". When I think gourmet, I think of Cochun's Butcher block. They have concoctions I've never heard of out there and flavors I don't taste everyday. The menu at JJ's is pretty straight forward. Smoked Ham, Turkey, Roast beef, Salami, Capicola... I'll admit the bread was pretty good and the meats they used were definitely good quality meat. I know b/c we ordered the JJ Gargantuan and this sub pretty much had every meat offered at JJ's in it! The service was super fast. We sat there for about an hour and seen two HUGE rush came in. I guess having 20 employees behind the counter will do that for you. =) I would definitely order here more often if they had one on the Westbank where I live. If you love Subs, you'll love JJ's. It's not good enough for me to drive 20-25 minutes though. There are just too many good restaurants I can get to in between that distance. =) I will add that my friend wasn't in the mood for a sub and she couldn't find anything else on their menu to eat. Finally a normal sandwich place!! I have had Jimmy John's before in Austin and was very glad to see that we were getting one. Don't get me wrong I love po-boys, but not having any sort of sentimental attachment to them (aka not being from Louisiana), they can get terribly old sometimes. This leaves you left with Subway--and that lovely Subway smell that lingers all day--for a "sub" sandwich..blah! Let me just start out by saying Jimmy John's is NOT a gourmet sandwich shop. Yes, it says "gourmet sandwiches"--it also actually says "ok, so my sandwiches really aren't gourmet" on the menu so don't go here expecting some kind of fancy new take on sandwich combinations. These are normal run of the mill turkey, roast beef, blt, ham, italian (salami and capicola), etc. sandwiches. Some of them have cheese, some of them have avocado and they do take add-ons (for example I like to get the smaller "turkey tom" and add avocado instead of getting the double meat "beach club"). The main claim to fame here is that they're just good quality ingredients and they are FAST ("freaky fast" in fact). The french bread is good and more of the soft variety than typically dry po-boy french bread. They have a 7 grain regular sliced bread that is a little thick, but good. You can also get an "unwich"--any sandwich on the menu wrapped in lettuce instead of on bread, which is actually pretty great. They have their own chips (not sure if they make them or not, but they are distributed by Jimmy John's) and their own cookies (made with real ingredients like flour, butter, and brown sugar with no crazy fillers or preservatives). Maybe it's just me, but the chips seems to have a lot more in the bag than typical main stream brands of kettle style chips. Like I said, this is not some kind of novel sandwich shop, but it is good and if you are tired of po-boys and subway it will definitely hit the spot. The location is a good one, we have been twice and haven't gone inside yet, but the drive-thru moves super fast. Thanks Drew!! I am impressed. I think I ate at one of these someplace some time ago. I'm thinking it was an airport, but who knows. It obviously didn't make much of an impression. I couldn't even remember what kind of food they served. When one popped up on Veterans advertising gourmet sandwiches, my interest was peaked. A little po-boy competition will benefit us all. I walked in after watching the Saints win in overtime. No exaggeration, there were no other customers in the restaurant and at least 9 people behind the counter waiting for an order. I was under a little pressure to speed read the menu board and place an order. I finally settled on the number 11, the Country Club. While I was paying for the order, the Jimmy John's machine apparently kicked into action. I truly don't know how this happened, but the cashier handed me my sandwich with my change. Maybe they have a pile of #11's in the back? Maybe I was having a couple of mini-strokes? My head spinning, I wandered over to a table to eat my sandwich and figure out what just happened. I noticed a couple of "Freaky Fast" T-shirts that helped cleared things up. Apparently, speed is a big part of the Jimmy John offering. Good sandwich, very good bread that isn't French. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because I haven't had this issue here before. After the customer service we received tonight, I really should give it one star. We ordered sandwiches for delivery and after AN HOUR of waiting (we were trying to be patient.. we understand the industry can get hectic), we called the store to ask where the driver was. The manager quite literally told us he didn't know where the driver was. How can you not know where your employee is? He also told us every customer has called to complain about their order not showing up, SO WHERE IS THE DRIVER? The manager did not seem to care at all.
