    No spice fried chicken sandwich
    Lia B.

Stopped in after leaving the Quarter headed back to NTX based on Yelp reviews. Southerns uses boneless chicken thigh meat instead of dry white meat. Husband's no spicy fried chicken sandwich was juicy and perfectly complimented by slightly spicy coleslaw. I went with the first step up spice level on the 3 piece chicken tenders. Darn things were spicy as all get out!. Good flavor with the signature sauce, but definitely NOT mild. Loved the seasoned fries. Daughter opted for the pork chop sandwich which was very tasty, but way over sauced with double aioli and coleslaw. Service was friendly and fast. The dine in patrons were extra quietly munching, so the dining area was nearly silent, with the exception of loud 80s music playing.

Ive been a fan of Southerns for a while. This was my first time visiting the brick and mortar location. I ordered online and order was ready on arrival. They were pretty packed for a Friday afternoon and the parking lot was small and full. I tried the sweet prince and fries and it was delicious! The perfect amount of sweet heat, more sweet than heat. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. My husband tried the classic sandwich and said it was probably the best chicken sandwich he's ever had so we definitely have to go back!

Sooooo I saw a review for this place on TikTok and thought hmmm let me try them since I pass by there all the time. The young lady with the pretty bling teeth was phenomenal! She schooled me on the menu and made my ordering pleasant! They do cook your food to order so there was a little wait. The spot was very clean and had a great atmosphere. The music was amazing, I sang every song that played! Now I ordered the mild tenders with fries and chicken crackling. The tenders were huge and piping hot but tasted like they were fried in old grease and they really had no flavor. The dipping sauce gave it the flavor! The crackling was good but not what expected. They were more on the chewy side!

This is a very strange little place. Yep listed under Poboy but the only poor boy they have is a fried shrimp Poboy with a Crawfish sauce now if I was going to do a shrimp Poboy, wouldn't you logically put a shrimp sauce over it if you want sauce at all. They had what looked like a pretty good queso burger called southern queso burger. Everything is called southern southern that there's nothing really southern about the entire place. It's just a very strange vibe. I won't be back.

Oxtail Special with greens, sweet potatoes, dirty rice and a roll

Wanda greeted us with genuine warmth and enthusiasm. Her friendly energy made the experience memorable. The Chicken Sandwich delivered on all fronts. The portion size was huge. The breading achieved perfect crispiness while keeping the meat juicy inside. We ordered the spicy but felt we could handle more heat. The Adobo Cracklins stole the show. Each bite had a satisfying crunch paired with bold adobo seasoning that kept us reaching for more. We took home the oxtail special, which came with greens, sweet potatoes, dirty rice and a roll. The oxtail had a deep, savory flavor. The greens were pure deliciousness. The sweet potatoes hit the right notes. The dirty rice had layers of flavor that made us want seconds. Southerns combines great food with warm hospitality. Wanda's service and the kitchen's execution make this spot worth your visit.

Tried Southern's for the first time and it was delicious. I had this place on my list for a while and it didn't disappoint. I had the burger and it was flavorful and a nice portion. The Phuket fries were good. They had a seasoning to them that was tasty and not overwhelming. The sauce to accompany had a nice kick to it. My husband had the chicken sandwich which was enormous. He enjoyed his meal as well. It was definitely worth the price so I would go back when I have burger or chicken sandwich craving.

I got my first taste of Southerns on their food truck for lunch one day and then again at FQFest this year and they never miss. Had to try the brick and mortar once my husband showed me their Instagram post and it was worth the trip to Metairie. The location was really cute: spacious and welcoming. The staff was friendly and was ready to recommend or explain any item. I got the Nice wings and maaaannn were they nice! The sweet chilli glaze and cranberries were a festive and delicious touch. Will definitely be back.

I was always thrilled when their food truck would park near my office building-and now we are lucky enough to enjoy an extended menu at their new brick and mortar location. My dining companion and I started with Boudin balls stuff with pepper jack cheese. Basic, but good. We had "the prince" sandwich at a heat level of spicy. Well seasoned, and the cooling kewpie mayonnaise did the trick. We also enjoyed a smash burger with cheddar cheese. Absolutely excellent. The fried onion strips were a great addition to the sandwich. The staff is friendly and their specials advertised on various social media look AMAZING. (Oxtail platter, anyone?!) Try the Phuket sauce.

Personally not for me or my bf but clearly from other reviews people really like it. A little too messy and overpriced for us (but also a good portion of that was tiny fountain drinks). Food was hot and service was good though.

Best chicken sandwich, hands down. Southerns stands out because they use a fried chicken thigh instead of a breast and it's a total game changer. The chicken is always juicy, perfectly seasoned, and fried to perfection. The portions are huge and I can never finish the sandwich and fries in one sitting, so it's easily two meals. The dipping sauces are a great bonus, and service has always been quick and friendly. If you're looking for the best chicken sandwich Southerns is it.

Best. Louisiana. Chicken. Sandwich... EVER! I've heard about Southerns before when they were only doing their food truck, but this was the first time I went to their actual restaurant. To start off, service was excellent! The guy in the front was not only nice and friendly, but he was also very detailed and patient while explaining the menu since it was my first time there. From his recommendation, I got the Southerns Original Spicy Chicken Sandwich ($10.99), their Phuket Fries ($5.99), and a regular fountain drink ($2.95). The chicken inside the sandwich was HUGE! Not only that, but the spice flavor to it gave off a very southern/cajun flavor. The sauce on it had an aioli kick to it, which I really liked. The Phuket Fries were really good too. They weren't stingy with the amount of fries compared to other places, so I give them props for that. The sauce for the fries had a spicy aioli taste to it as well, which made it worth the price in my opinion. The inside was average looking, but was still clean and neat regardless. Overall, I'd definitely recommend trying out Southerns. Friendly vibes? Delicious chicken sandwiches? How can you pass on that?!

Consistent! This place always has perfectly fried chicken and chicken sandwiches. Their flavor profiles are great! They hit all the taste buds! The ambiance is clean and minimal (I enjoy this a lot!). Service is good as always! Keep it up, Southern's!

Nothing spectacular but decent food. The signage for the entry could be way better and the prices a little steep.

I was considering the quesadilla and the gordita - which I think I will get the next time I come here. But I decided to get the carne aside plate based on a customer's high recommendation. He claims he eats there all the time and he said start with that. So, I trusted him and did. I ordered and waited about 15 or so minutes. In the meantime, my friend pulled up to have lunch with me. There aren't any tables out there; it is just 3 or 4 chairs under a tiny bit of shade. And so, the choice is taking your food to go home/work with or eat it in your car. She called my name and I went to dine in my friend's car. I was able to cut a few pieces of the steak to taste before setting it all up in my tortilla and the meat was so flavorful and juicy!! I cut a few more pieces and put all the ingredients together on my tortilla and oh man, there was like a smokiness to the peppers and the onions added some char to it. I just loved that bite. But the reason I gave 4 stars instead of the 5, is because the meat is so chewy. So much so, that the plastic knife just could not cut through the stringy meat. I realize this isn't filet mignon, but I was sawing through the meat, in the tiny car space, trying the make my meat tortilla, and it was just a struggle. My friend just started using his fingers to pull the meat apart which was messy and not ideal. Like I said, if I was home, I could have used a real knife, but I really think since it is a place where most take it to go back to the office with, the meat should be sliced more so it can be eaten with more ease.

You can call in your order and pick it up. I would imagine this is helpful if you are short on time, as they make everything to order.

I came back last night really excited to have it again, but unfortunately, it just didn't live up to that first experience. My boyfriend comes all the time but this was my first visit and it was a pleasure. This time around, the portion seemed noticeably different this time around. There was a lot less shrimp, the sauce had the same Cajun flavor but was clumpy as if old and the crab cake we ordered--something we also loved on our last visit--was much smaller, but increased from $5 to $8. For a place in New Orleans, where the food scene is such a huge draw, that was pretty disappointing. That said, not everything missed the mark. Ashley, the bartender, was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and really added to the experience. Also, the gentleman opening the door was incredibly kind and welcoming. Their hospitality ended up being the highlight of the visit. I still have great memories from my first time here, but this visit just didn't hit the same. Hoping it was an off night. I spoke with the manager Kelly on the same day of service but I was not satisfied with the resolution of offering a free appetizer on my next visit when purchasing an entree. Sad to say but that was my last visit. Kelly was really nice and listened but maybe her hands are tied with how the restaurant is ran and what she can offer. I didn't need a refund or a total order replacement but something else could've been recommended. $30 is a steep price for 9 shrimp in a pasta that was clunky/lumpy and not smooth as times in the past. Maybe it was because it was a togo order but most of my orders from this business had been to go, not all but most. In all, this falls on the chef that prepared this meal and I was informed by Kelly that the chef started everything was weighed and correctly accounted for however it was the cook on the pasta and lack of shrimp.
