I decided to give them a try today in spite of the negative reviews that I read. You were correct in stating that you cannot go in and that there is an opening in the front where you place your order. Upon my arrival the sweetest most polite young girl instructed me to come to her to place my order. She explained the the reason for this process was because of staffing shortage. She took my order, processed my payment and gave me my receipt, we talked about school and a few other things. When my food was ready she politely brought it out to my car. While the experience of ordering and receiving your is interesting, the quality of the food as well as the portions are on point. Two can share due to the large portions, possibly three. Been coming here since the early 90's. I was friends with the original owner Jimmy back in the day. The new ownership family has been super nice and the food is always on point and a good value. You will not be disappointed. I am writing this review as a long time customer to please ask the owners to add some new dishes to the menu to modernize it a bit and match some of the newer Chinese restaurants in the area. Would you please consider adding as soon as possible: - Jalapeno Chicken (there was a buffet in Duncanville called Empress about a decade ago and many buffets have this. There is also several local asian takeout that now carry it). It is delicious. -Pancit Thin Rice Noodle Dishes (again, many asian takeout now carry. They are more healthy option than Lo Mein Noodles and a lighter meal). They taste amazing. -We do not eat pork, as do many families now, it would be great to have a chicken wonton soup instead of Pork as well as chicken egg rolls. They are both healthier options. -Please start carrying dried whole Thai chili peppers to add to your spicy dishes instead of just the chili oil. These are perfect in Kung Pao, Szechuan, etc. -Please consider adding celery to the Szechuan dishes and the other dishes that have veggies. This makes the dishes taste fresher and healthier as well as a cooling balance with the amazing spice. My family spends around $300 at your restaurant a month but we have been going to another Chinese takeout to get the above items lately instead of coming to Jimmy's. We want to continue to support Jimmy's 100%. Please consider those requests. My family has been dining with Jimmy's since 1986, my father loved their food, so when I moved to Duncanville I too became a huge fan, I even (for about a year) lived right down the street that runs along side, so my step children and I would walk up there to grab egg rolls and lo mein for them and chow Mein for me, or Crab Rangoon, honestly, every thing I've ever had there has been delicious. I no longer live in Duncanville, but was in the area to visit family, and went by Jimmy's to treat for lunch. They no longer run the dining room, or even allow customers inside after a robbery that happened just before C-19, but they have a window in the front of the restaurant where you can place your order and pick it up. The food is still hot and super fresh, and I will always be a life long fan! Oh they also deliver, so if so inclined you will meet either the owner or the nicest delivery guy ever! To Jimmy's, idk if you remember me, I lived on Westminster LN, in Huntington Park, and I always enjoyed visiting with your driver, who I really looked forward to seeing when he brought our food. What a great guy, he even acknowledged a change in me after I went thru a terrible health crisis, noting how much better I looked, that meant a lot, we are in the Fort Worth area and I have yet to find local Chinese as good as yours! read more

For a family of four adults I usually order two or three meals with and order of eggrolls and eggfoo young thrown in for good measure and everyone is satisfied and stuffed! We really like this place. We all agree that its the best chinese food in the area and the portions are enough for several servings. TIP! Meals come with white or regular fried rice (brown rice with no veggies or anything). I suggest adding the combination fried rice! I have been eating at this great restaurant for the past 10yrs. It is family owned and operated. The owner, Jimmy, is usually there and always stops by to say hi and chat for a few minutes. The shrimp fried rice is a normal golden tan color with large plump shrimp, the chicken broccoli is succulent and good smelling and the egg drop soup is served exactly the way I liked it with chives in a big bowl. Everything was done with a smile and the total cost was just under $16. The only thing I didn't order was egg rolls, but something tells me their egg rolls would be great too. We ordered from the menu but they had some carryout specials that we wound up taking home for our kids when we left for five bucks so you have a choice of the entree with rice. The food was good what we noticed is that you get more rice than meat on the entrees that are carry out but on the plates when eating in, you get more meat and less rice. read more

My experience with Jimmy's was this past Saturday when I was feeling too lazy to go grab lunch. Trying to find a spot that delivers to my house other than pizza is proving to be incredibly difficult. I called Jimmy's and they said they would deliver but I had to have a $25 minimum for "that area of town." Now let me say...I would not live in an area that is not safe and I researched for weeks on whether or not I should move here so I know it is safe. Not sure what they meant by that but I assumed it meant I was very far from them. I hung up and looked up the address - they are only 3 miles from my home. Now unless you are Jimmy Johns - you deliver typically a minimum of 5 miles out. I called them back and let them know i was closer than they maybe thought but again they stated that for "my area" I would need a $25 minimum. Whatever - I was starving so I gave in and ordered food I did not need so that they would deliver to me. I went with the Chicken and Beef Fried Rice (2) orders since they made me and then an order of Crab Ray-goons. I was at $23.60 and she said ok, what else? Seriously?! You are making me order $15 more than I would just so you will deliver to "my area" and being a $1.40 off is not close enough? She finally gave in and said it was ok. It was delivered fairly fast and warm however the fried rice had barely any beef in it at all and the chicken was what you would expect from an orange chicken dish. The extra chewy/rubbery fried kind - not the normal chicken for fried rice. I was very dissatisfied with Jimmy's and they could have had a very loyal customer out of me. Something is very wrong at Jimmy's Great China. It was never going to be as great as P.F. Chang's or even Bamboo Palace in Cedar Hill, but I remember the food and service being top-notch when I lived here. How things have changed. I'm in town for the holidays, and wanted some Chinese takeout to indulge in before getting back into my healthy eating and exercise routine when I go home later this week. Fully expecting Jimmy's to take care of my craving, I called to place a delivery order. A busy but pleasant voice asked me to hold, which I did. When she came back, she looked up my info and took my order. Having finished, I asked for the total, to which the pleasant voice told me that my order only came to $22, and I needed to order more food to meet their minimum of $35. I balked and repeated the number back to her incredulously, and she confirmed that I needed to order nearly forty dollars worth of greasy strip-mall Chinese. I politely declined and ended the call. If I'm going to spend that much on food, it had better be for groceries, or at least a meal at P.F. Chang's. These people have lost their minds, and unfortunately, my business. read more

So I am updating my review today. I never thought I would say this but stay away from Jimmy's. The customer service is horrible. The new owner refuses to admit when he is wrong and argues with customers. I came here last week to order some beef chow mein to go. I got my food and drove the 25 minutes home. When I opened the box I got the most feel smell from it. I took a small bite and it tasted awful. It tastes like seafood. Beef chow mein should never taste like seafood. I don't know if the food was rancid or if they didn't clean their woks well enough and there was residue from someone else's order but I couldn't eat it. When I called up there the owner told me to bring the food back and he would remake it and refund my money. I told him I would not be back on Duncanville for days and he said that is fine just to freeze it and they would take care of it but they couldn't just refund my credit card becaus they had to have the food. So I waited. When I went in today I was treated horribly. I was told they would not refund my money and remake the order but they could remake the food. I told him I did not want or need the food. I needed it last week for our dinner. He then told me he would only refund me HALF the price of the food because they had to cook it and they would lose money. I told him that was his fault since they messed up and the food was rancid. He went round and round with me telling me that was their policy. I asked him where that was posted because apparently thsh everything else posted. It wasn't. He did eventually refund the full amount but I will never step foot back on this establishment which is sad because I have been coming here for the last 30 years. It is sad to see what use to be a friendly establishment where the owner valued his customers come to this. Jimmy would be so disappointed. He always prides himself on the quality of his food and when someone didn't like something he went out of his way to make it right. Not from his family members that own the place now. Oh and for real clean up your restaurant. There is so much clutter and junk behind the counter. It is unprofessional and gross. read more
