Well I try to be positive but to be honest when I went to pay my bill the woman said do you want to add a tip who am I Tippin one person bought me a menu another person bought me my cup of water another person bought me my food and she threw it on the table She actually still looks like she worked in the kitchen and I got my food before I even got my silverware I got scrambled eggs with cheese the eggs were so cold by the time they added the cheese the cheese didn't melt who wants that for cheesy eggs I got biscuits and gravy it was nasty to me that's because though they're different ways to make gravy sauce for biscuits I couldn't even get a refill on my cup of water but there were four people running around topping up everybody's coffee cups no one was rude or nasty everyone was polite but there was definitely a lack of service and kind of a lack of quality food just in my opinion

A hidden gem, the restaurant is top notch

A hidden gem, the restaurant is top notch We had breakfast and it was much better than average Judy been serving for the 27 years and her food is still good Stack of pancakes and eggs are tasty. There meatloaf and side dishes are also very good. Anyone would be happy to have eating here at Judy restaurant

I was in Duncanville for an appointment and had time to stop for a quick breakfast. I happened to see an old diner and I like diners a lot because they almost always have pie and I really love pie...Well anyway, on to my review. When you enter it's self seating. Someone just calls out, you can sit anywhere, every time a guest enters. They deliver the check to the table with your meal. This is a stand in line and pay at the register diner. And it's very inexpensive. There is one small TV in the corner and they have a bookcase filled with paperbacks and magazines which is cool. This is also the type of diner that attracts old timers. The servers were walking up to tables calling everyone by name.

Breakfast was great. Biscuits and gravy hit the spot, plenty to fill ya up, very hardy. Kids silver dollar pancakes are a little bigger than a silver dollar lol... Willbe a must stop when I am in the area for breakfast.

First time trying Judy's Cafe - It was a bit busy but we easily found a place to sit. It took a while for someone to bring us the menu but other than that everyone was very attentive. We tried their breakfast and everything was delicious! Not a single complaint about the food. Good portions and tasted homemade. Will definitely come back again!

    Excited for some home cooking!

I was so hungry for home food. I am going under kitchen remodeling and man this place hit the spot. It's something I would cook in my kitchen. Nothing fancy just food!!! It was easy, fast and great. Servers are super friendly and the guest know Judy who seems like a wonderful women who greeted me from the kitchen. Yes she's on the grill!! I can't wait to go back and try other items. This is a hidden gem!!! I went back and lunch was bland and I was devastated, bummer! We had meatloaf with no red sauce and chicken fried chicken with way too much gray.

Oh my. Coming from a small rural town, I've eaten at plenty of small rural town cafes. This one is at the lower end of the small town spectrum. On the smoking side of the cafe, every table had an ash tray containing at least two butts. In the name of all that is good, empty the freaking ash trays when you bus the table! Once I found the non-smoking side of the cafe, I saw the sign on the wall informing me how many free refills of each beverage I could get without being charged more. Was that really necessary? As for the food (and I'm amazed I was still in the cafe at this point), I ordered a cafe staple, chicken fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans. The chicken fried steak was a pre-breaded frozen patty that was just dropped in the deep fryer. The gravy was just a white sauce. The green beans did contain some real bacon, and weren't too bad for canned green beans. But, when canned green beans are the highlight of a meal, that doesn't speak well of the quality of the meal.

Frozen chicken fried chicken patty with yesterday's hash browns and two eggs

UPDATE: I was extremely disappointed with Judys this last week. For this to be a home cooked meal diner - everything seems frozen. I ordered the chicken fried chicken breakfast with eggs and hash browns. I was hoping for a homemade chicken fried chicken...instead I got Tysons chicken patty thrown In a fryer....I literally have the same exact chicken patty in my freezer at home. The hash browns taste like they were cooked yesterday and re heated in the microwave. I don't think I'll be back for a long while. Judy's has been around since I was a kid, I remember coming here for my 16th birthday dinner...many many birthdays ago . This is a hometown favorite with home cooked country cooking! The staff is always friendly. My favorite oddly enough is the fried zucchini. I don't think all of it is freshly home cooked meals, but none the less still a great place to go and enjoy when you don't want the chain restaurant and don't want to cook!

Books you can read while you wait, kinda cool.

Honest Review Restaurant: 4/5…read more The restaurant is on the smaller side, but it has a nice atmosphere. They also have outdoor seating, which is a plus. The music wasn't too loud, so it was easy to have a conversation with both our server and the people at our table. They had the UFC and a soccer match playing while we ate, which made for a fun environment. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because my husband thought the restrooms could use an upgrade. We also had our two small children with us, and they immediately offered us a high chair. They have menu options for kids as well, which was appreciated. Food & Drinks: 3/5 I'm always on the hunt for really good Mexican and Tex-Mex food, especially tacos. I don't think the food was bad at all, but some of the dishes reminded me of bar food, which tends to be on the salty side to encourage customers to order more drinks. I asked my husband what he thought because I'm generally not a fan of salty food, and he agreed with me on some of the dishes. The tacos were well presented and had a generous amount of meat. The beans were delicious, but the rice was a little too salty for our taste. The salsas also needed more heat--especially the classic orange salsa. It should have had a lot more kick! They were also a bit salty. I did enjoy the quesabirrias, and I wouldn't mind coming back to try other items on the menu. I ordered a margarita on the rocks, and I really enjoyed it. I'm usually not a fan of margaritas because they're often too sour or too salty, but this one was well balanced. Service: 5/5 (Me) | 4/5 (My Husband) I thought the service was excellent. The servers were very attentive, and that's always something I appreciate. The restaurant wasn't too busy when we arrived, and two different servers checked on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. My husband joked that they came by a little too often because he just wanted to eat without interruptions. Even so, he agreed that the service was very good. They even made fresh lemonade for our kids, which was a thoughtful touch. Overall I'm not sure how long they've been open, but it's a nice spot with a welcoming atmosphere. They also have a bar area, so we'll probably come back to try more of their drinks and other menu items. I always believe newer businesses benefit from constructive feedback, and that's the spirit of this review. Overall, I think they're doing a good job. I'd recommend giving them a try--maybe order a couple of items first and see if it's your kind of place. Everyone's taste is different, and you may end up finding a new favorite

This review is directed at one specific server who chose to ignore our table for most of the evening. We repeatedly asked for refills and bread, first politely and then several more times, yet she acted as if we weren't there. When she finally returned, she slammed the cups down in front of my parents, which was disrespectful and completely unprofessional. If you don't want to be at work, that's your choice, but customers should not have to experience that frustration. A server's job is to make guests feel welcome and respected. I also noticed that many of the guests around us were offered refills, to-go drinks, and birthday desserts, while our requests were ignored. It was my family member's birthday, and even after asking multiple times about a birthday cake--offering to pay for it if necessary--I was completely ignored. As a Hispanic family, it was difficult not to notice the difference in how we were treated compared to others around us. Whether intentional or not, the experience left us feeling unwelcome and embarrassed. What should have been a special birthday celebration turned into a disappointing memory. I hope management sees this review and takes it seriously so that no other family has to experience the same treatment.

Initially, the waitress was able to pull some tables together for us, but we still needed spots for about four more people in our group when we suggested pulling over one more table. We could see her in the back, just playing on her cell phone. We tried to flag another waitress down but to no avail. Finally, after asking other staff members for assistance, another waitress who I believe was the manager, came over to serve us. She was very pleasant and kind. I tried the house omelette with hash browns, and it was extraordinary, really really delicious. The coffee also was extremely good. Several people in our group ordered the salads with lamb and those looked amazing. No complaints on the quality of the food. Everything was truly yummy. I'm glad the food was so good because it made up in some way for the poor service we received from our first waitress. I think the joke was on her though as we ended up leaving a large tip in cash.
