My bf & I were having one of those days where we just couldn't agree on what to order on Door Dash. I figured "hey, a diner! Something for everyone! This will be great!" It was not great. My bf got a bbq beef sandwich which was supposed to come with coleslaw, fries, and a pickle. It arrived with potato chips and nothing else. My bf said that the meat didn't taste good, and visually it didn't look good either. I ordered a grilled ribeye medium rare with mashed potatoes and gravy and the chef's vegetable of choice, which was collard greens. The steak was very thin, so of course, it was overcooked and tough. The collard greens were so bland. I ended up throwing away half my food. Sadly, based on the quality of this order, I won't try this place again. read more

I've been coming to Jimmy's since I was a little kid (and my parents have been coming here for the last 40 years). Although it seems to have changed ownership a few times, I think they've kept their same kitchen staff because the food tastes the same as it has for as long as I can remember. Their fried chicken is the best I've ever had. The service is good, the prices are decent (usually, although some of their dishes are a bit overpriced), the atmosphere is homey, and the food is outstanding. It seems they changed management again. Place looks cleaner though no COVID 19 precautions obvious around. No sanitizers at the entry no tables marked for social distancing as a matter of fact the waitress was saying to customers coming in seat wherever you wish. Tables left unclean when customers left. Menus not picked up after being used . No extra napkins given just the napkins rolled with the utensils .Salt pepper sugar dispensers left on tables not being sanitized after each use as other restaurants do. An empty creamer container left on the table from previous visit and got Montezumas revenge from their eggs Benedict which We shouldn't have eaten as the hollandaise sauce seemed curdled from being too long under the heat lamp or unused. Jimmy's Place or Place II as we sometimes see it posted, is a fantastic, down home cooking spot right in the heart of the city of North Miami. Just a short drive from our house a little north east, we found easy parking right on site and in front and easy access all around. We were greeted promptly when we walked in on a Saturday morning and were able to sit wherever we pleased. The menu is vast, and the specials are a plenty, but making a decision as to what to try this first time around was easy with go-to's like egg specials with waffles or french toast, or add-ons like chicken breast pieces that were very tender. I opted for a special that came with coffee, two eggs, grits (a gigantic portion) and wheat toast. All was prepared fresh and made to order, the taste was amazing. One note that sticks out though about Jimmy's is the staff. Such friendly folks that constantly kept my coffee refilled -I cannot remember a place that does such a job. Loved it. read more

First time here and loving it. I had the early riser special which consists of Belgium waffle, eggs and bacon and it was all so good. My husband had omlett filled with veggies and his homefries were delicious. Oh and don't forget to try their homemade biscuits. read more

We ordered from GrubHub tonight because we've been under the weather. GrubHub was great and got dinner here in record time. Food was hot, but they got the order wrong. We specified no potatoes, extra veggies on both dinners. They even called to verify and I told them we didn't want potatoes. So what comes with both dinners? Mashed potatoes and gravy. We ordered a side of cottage cheese, and they sent a container of Feta cheese. Either they didn't care or couldn't be bothered. Either way, we're done. read more

Absolutely hands down the best service I've received in the area. The women here are fast, polite, hard working, friendly, funny and all smiling and just impressive. As if they love their jobs and are happy to help you get your food etc! This is a foreign concept in Miami and a breath of fresh air! The music and decor is old school but not run down. The cool antiques remind me of Northern America and the breakfast is large portioned and very good. Not fancy. But good and not greasy like a lot of cheaper places are. My mom and I have been coming here for breakfast for about 7 years. Their food is standard diner fare but extremely consistent. Our meal always tastes great - eggs cooked exactly how I ordered them, grits are thick and corned beef hash has a perfectly crunchy crust. Yum! Food is brought out QUICKLY and piping hot . Almost seems like they have your plate waiting in the back but there's no doubt that the food is freshly made-to-order. The coffee is neutral (not too weak, not too strong) and that's okay because we usually go to Starbucks after Jimmy's anyway. Service is friendly and they love familiar faces. We've become very friendly with the staff over the years. I've personally never had a bad experience here. The furniture looks like it's been there since 1973 but it's all well taken care of and the floors are always clean, NEVER dirty. Overall, Jimmy's has that great neighborhood diner feel. I decided to have brunch there for the first time, since this place is right by my job. I placed an order over the phone for pick-up.... The food was promptly made and was greeted by the same hostess who took my order. I ordered the Jimmy's Special which includes: pancakes, eggs and bacon with coffee. I was missing my coffee but one of the waitress quickly attended to the mistake. The food was good and the pancakes size will definitely not leave you wanting for more. You get a bang (2 large pancakes) for your buck. Haven't been here in a while. I usually come by for breakfast but today was dinner. I ordered off the specials board. Didn't even look at the menu. Shepherds pie $9.75. Soon after I ordered it the waitress walked over to the specials board and changed the price to $10.25. So as I wait for my food I get into watching what's on TV. Great special on the terra-cotta Army from ancient China. The only other guest in the diner leaves so I'm the only one watching the TV. The waitress decides to change the channel. What a shame because I was actually the best part of my experience at the diner. So I get my shepherds pie. It was pretty sad. The instant mashed potatoes were so hard and dehydrated. The whole thing was pretty flavorless. Maybe if I add some hot sauce or A1. Non on the table or the counter. where's my waitress? Okay fine I give up. I know, I'll take a piece of pie home. That should help. I'm sure they don't make it. It come right off the Sysco truck, right. I couldn't finish the pie either. I guess after the new owners came in they changed a few things... And yes, on my bill was $10.25 for the shepherds pie. It wasn't worth arguing about because the $.50 would've made that shepherds pie any less bad. read more

I've been a regular of this place for a long time. If you're in the mood for great Americana this is the place to go. Period. From the meatloaf, to the sandwiches, or the smothered pork to the cheeseburger, everything is absolutely delicious and prepared with care. Try their soups, and try their desserts! The chicken and rice they have Sunday and Monday is about the best soup you'll ever have and their cream pies are the best around - try the chocolate. Stumbled upon this place last night. First impression was...OMG where am I? I felt like I had transported back to a diner in the 70s. Service was good and food was great! We were a total of five and had the following all which were nice servings and most importantly DELICIOUS: turkey triple decker, meatball sliders (comes with 3) chicken parmesan sliders (comes with 3), french toast delight (comes with eggs, bacon and french toast) and lastly the chicken parmesan hoagie. The triple decker which I had on rye bread was excellent. It came with real turkey slices, nice pieces of bacon and a side of fries...yummy. My husband and daughter had the chicken parmesan and couldn't stop saying how delicious it tasted. My husband is very particular about his chicken parm. It was the prefect thickness, had the right seasoning, right amount of sauce (no heart burn) and cheese and to top it off...on Italian bread. He was one happy camper. One of my sons had the meatball sliders which he completely devoured without speaking so I know they were good. This place is far for me but if I am in the area again definitely would stop by again. read more

Came to Jimmy's for lunch and I can honestly say I do not get the 4 star reviews. The place is just like any other dinner, same goes for the food. I had the BBQ pork sandwich. Let me start by saying BBQ pork is one of my favorite sandwiches. What I got here was slices of pork lather on BBQ sauce between two buns. That, my friend, is a sorry excuse for a sandwich. Jimmy's Place II is a run-of-the-mill diner in North Miami, and I like the at-home feel this place provides at very reasonable prices (I guess it depends on who you ask what reasonable is). I felt right at home the moment I walked in. All the waitstaff is friendly, the pancakes were good and so was everything else. Service could have been just a tad faster, but all is well that ends well. I would definitely return and try something else, but as a diner, I feel that breakfast dishes should be the one thing you do well, if nothing else. I'll give something else a try next time. read more
