    Quart of orange blossom honey
    Terrence Y.

It's a wholesaler, but they keep a few 1 quart jars in the office for enthusiasts like me. Since it is a wholesaler, it's off a dirt road near other farms. You have to look for a small street sign indicating to turn left to get to the office. There's another small sign indicating it's the Jim's Honey office. Open the door and Donna will be sitting at her desk, not expecting you since it's not a retail spot. She's super friendly and always amazed when a Yelper shows up since they don't advertise and aren't really open to the public. They do carry a few unlabeled jars of orange flower honey. You can taste the freshness and it feels like the bees just sucked on the Orange flower that day.

The orange blossom honey is delicious and I prefer to buy local honey to keep my allergies down.

THEY ALLOW DOGS IN THE MARKET, on leashes, puppy carriers, dog strollers JUST NASTY........ FARMERS MARKET ???? I only see 2 or 3 vendors with produce, I originally hoped I t would get better over time. and nope it hasnt same 2 to 3 vegetable vendors same thing very week. 2/5 Stars I come here for 2 places Martins Meats 5/5 Stars and Howies Micheladas,5/5 Stars and other than that i don't even know why I continue to come here, I can get those any day of the week, I guess this "Farmer's Market" is not my particular cup of tea ,I have been spoiled in Ventura and San Diego all my life so im biased on the lack of variation of produce and vendors, I have tried to give them a chance, I usually am disappointed every time I come, nothing original, two or 3 places sell almost the exact same items here, and certain places are either out of what I want to get or they don't make that particular item the weekend that I come. I show up before 10am everytime and it hasn't made a difference if I showed up right before closing to get some Chamoy candies, and a Agua Fresca from Howie or some rib tips or breakfast tacos/burritos from Martin. Both 5/5 Stars Dont get me wrong for Bakersfield this is a 5 but we've gotta have more variety Final rating 2/5 Stars until they bring in some produce, and not puppies..

This outdoor market is a place for the locals to grab some organic produce or try the latest food truck item they've been seeing while scrolling on social media. I come for the seasonings and the cinnamon rolls. We showed up a couple hours after opening and the only cinnamon rolls left were the traditional. I was t in the mood for the basic ones so I decided to try out one of their gourmet cookies instead. For $6 I tried out the Ferraro Roche chocolate chip cookie and it was absolutely delicious! We'll come back in a couple of months when our seasonings need to be replenished but by that time it'll be scorching outside making it miserable to walk this market.

Let's get real, we are talking Oildale here, not central Bakersfield or the Rosedale area. On the Thursday evenings that I am in town, I make it a point to peruse each and every merchant, which by the way consists of more than just 3 tents. I have purchased my fruits and veggies, natural dog treats, hand made craft items, local bee honey and even brought home a hot dinner for us to enjoy. Oh ya, and don't forget to tip the wonderful guitarist/vocalist who keeps us entertained. Overall this most certainly is in no way a Kaiser Sunday market and not even close to the Brimhall Saturday market, but it does have what I need to keep me going throughout the week. Don't be detoured by the negative comments and think about it in a positive. Since it is smaller it's easy to find what you want, purchase your items and then get home and spend your valuable time preparing a healthy meal for your beautiful family.

Oildale is a small NEW market. We don't have the size that our markets have on the weekend but this is how markets start.

You can either buy your baskets right away or look around the shop. Lots of good stuff in the shop, but you should wait until you are heading out to grab stuff. After we paid for our baskets, we loaded into the tram and was driven to the cherry area. When you stopped, the attendances guided us to the 3 rows we can pick from. I understand to keep the crowd controlled and make sure the farm doesn't get trampled. The weather was perfect so we took our time, walked to the back of the rows and moved forward as we picked. They were red and beautiful, grabbed our baskets once they were full and headed back. He did buy some strawberries and honey comb inside the Little Purple Barn. You do have to come early for the pies, there may not have any later in the day. The cherry picking is only on the weekends.
