I got the 6 shrimp/2 fish thinking I could eat most of it, wrong! The portions are bigger than I anticipated! The shrimp was delish! The fish was good too but the shrimp was my favorite!! My food was steaming hot and didn't have to wait at all for it! I will keep this place on my list to revisit when back down this way!!!

Great food, even better price. I've been going to Jim's since I was young and it hadn't changed since then.

Terrible shrimp and fish was not much better. No cocktail sauce available to cover up the blah.

Fried fish was good(average), could be thicker fillets though. Sweet potato fries and Crab cakes were good. Service was second to none. Polite, helpful, and very fast. Great atmosphere. We sat next to the windows overlooking the bayou. Nice. Was quieter than most restaurants, a big plus.

The interior is also big and very tidy! There was a small welcoming staff there to greet us. The grilled oysters were topped with chopped peppers and bacon bits - came out hot and the oysters were plump and big! Very very tasty! It was about 30$ for a dozen oysters - so quite affordable for the size of oysters. Great bite and starter. I ordered the Atchafalaya, which had fried catfish and crawfish etouffee gravy smothered on top. The rice was a bit underdone which made the over taste of the dish not as cohesive. The crawfish pieces were abundant, but slightly mushy. The sweet potato fried side dish that came with the dish was perfect though - soft interior and slightly crisp exterior. The portion size was huge and I wasn't able to finish the dish. I'd definitely recommend trying the oysters on the menu, and next time, I'll need to try the fresh oysters!

The restaurant was decorated as you would expect a good Cajun restaurant to be decorated in. Service was nice and friendly and you order at the register and they bring your food to you. Service was great even after we got our food. A server asked us if we needed refills and if we wanted them in to-go cups, which scored bonus points with me! Here's what I had on this lunch visit: The crawfish pistollette (8/10) which was a small appetizer that was bread with some crawfish etouffee on top. Bread was nicely cooked and the etouffee on top was delicious. Solid starter! The Cajun Cooking Sampler (9/10) - this was a sampler with 3 amazing dishes. I got the shrimp and crab gumbo, which is classic Louisiana gumbo and it was outstanding! The sampler also had a bowl of crawfish etouffee which was good but felt it needed a bit more etoufee to mix with the rice. Lastly, the special of the day was fish courtbouillon which was a fish in tomato based sauce over rice. I really enjoyed this as the fish has a great texture and there was a lot of flavor in the sauce. Overall, solid lunch meal in the $ to $$ range depending on what you order. Recommend you trying it for a great Cajun experience!

In addition to being a great seafood restaurant, it's also a seafood market where you can pick up things to cook at home. It's convenient to I-10, so travelers could easily exit, eat, and get back on the road. This is a simple and easy place to navigate when you know the method. First grab a menu or look at the one on the wall, next walk up to the counter and order and pay. You'll get a number you carry to a table. A server will bring you your food when it's ready, which generally is pretty quick. Then you eat and leave. What to eat? Well that's a good question! Most everything there is great. Seafood is the star of the show, and one can't go wrong with a seafood platter. This is a huge pile of everything that can serve two normal humans. Too often I ordered the Medium Shrimp Platter, there's nothing wrong with this choice, but I needed to try other different things. A Seafood Stuffed Baked Potato is a great choice, and very filling. For the grazers there are some solid whole meal salads. Last time I was in I just got a Fish Platter, which has two huge fillets with fries, coleslaw, and bread. Gumbo and etouffe are good choices too! I really have no idea if their dessert is any good as I never have room for any. I guess one could get some to go...

From the outside, it looks like a rundown strip mall storefront with limited parking, the kind of place you might drive right past. But the lot was packed, and that told us everything we needed to know something good was happening inside. Walking in, we found ourselves in a big, old-school dining room filled with a handful of tables and chairs, every single one occupied. The smell of fresh cooked seafood hit us immediately, and I was hungry before we even sat down. Right by the entrance was a rack of local, hand-painted tourist knick knacks for sale, adding to that authentic, no-frills local charm. A hostess greeted us right away and asked how many were in our party, lucky for us, it was just the two of us, so we didn't have much of a wait. Once seated, our drinks came out shortly after. The menu was refreshingly simple, with just a few special items to choose from which included fresh crab. I headed straight for the grilled section and landed on the grilled fish plate, while my buddy went with the fried fish plate and an order of boudin balls on the side. A fresh salad arrived first, and not long after, our entrees followed. The grilled fish was outstanding, flakes of fresh, moist white fish that practically melted in my mouth like butter. But the real showstopper was the boudin balls, four large ones, about the size of pool balls if not bigger, which we split between us. They had a smoky, perfectly cooked flavor that was so good I made room to finish off more than my share. If you're looking for some of the best seafood in town, you've got to hit Seafood Palace. Don't let the exterior or the location scare you off, inside, it's absolute heaven for your taste buds.
