One of the Korean staples of Richmond. Honestly their value for K-BBQ is really good because they have a lot of set menus. It gets quite busy over the weekend so I would recommend to make a reso, and they also don't have that many tables. It's not too loud in there, and they usually play k-pop. This time we ordered their combo A, which comes with pork collar and pork belly, along with soup and 2 rice. We added on beef tartare and a seafood pancake for 2 people and definitely had more than enough for leftovers! One thing that's good about Dolpan is that they also cook the meat for you too. I think their seafood pancake is super worth it because it comes with a lot of squid inside for only ~15! Another thing to add is that their alcohol is also reasonably priced. Came here with a friend for a weekend dinner based on his recommendation. This was my first time ever in a sit down restaurant for Korean cuisine. I ordered take out once at a korean friend chicken stall. My friend and I ordered the Tteokbokki ($21). According to their menu, it has rice cake, fish cake, onions, carrots, cabbages, mushrooms, and eggs. We added sausage and spam plus Ramen as additional add ons for $5 more. The sauce was a mixture of garlicky, sweet, and spicy gochujang sauce. Overall the Tteokbokki tasted alright. I don't eat spicy food and I found it to be really spicy for me, even when i asked for it to be mild spicy. The Tteokbokki didn't taste as amazing as I hoped it would be. It needed a bit more seasoning to boost the flavors of the dish. i liked the sauce it came in for its sweet taste. It was kind of thick so it was like the liquid that comes with a stewed gravy meat dish. They gave us a warming plate where the Tteokbokki dish goes on top of so it stayed warm for awhile. The portion was big enough to eat for two people. It seems reasonably priced for the amount you get, so its a good value. It looked really tasty though. Service is alright as well. When we arrived, the place was full but the server told us to wait outside while they cleaned a table for us so we were able to get a table after a couple minutes. Our food came in about 12-15 minutes after ordering. Our server didn't come back if we needed anything or checked in on us after our food arrived. We had to wave the servers down every time if we needed something. Washroom was a small single unisex private room. it smelled horrid in there. They had an air freshener but it didn't do its job, hah. It wasn't very clean but nothing terrible. As for the vibe, the place wasn't too loud and they played kpop music in the background. It was very busy when we arrived. The dining area was clean and spacious. 3 out of 5 stars based on the Tteokbokki dish i ordered. I'm not sure if i'll order Tteokbokki again so i'll get something more tasty. Next time I'll try one of the other dishes yelpers have reviewed. Awesome Korean restaurant and possibly the best bang for your buck!! We tried the beef set menu for 4. Lots of food as you can see, and eve coms with soy bean paste soup with beef inside. Best part, unlimited ban chan ( sides) you get 4 different varieties...so good. Service was quick and efficient. Food came quick and hot and fresh. Everything tasted fresh and just cooked. Stopped by this plaza for dinner and ended up at Dolpan - it was empty when we got there at 7:30PM but every table was full when we left! We got the corn cheese ($4) to start. It was really tasty but the cheese didn't stay melted for long. Next was the kalbi beef rice bowl ($15.50). It came with some well seasoned beef ribs and an egg, but it didn't have any veggies. The best dish was the army hot pot. Good amount of ramen, bean sprouts, rice cakes, sausage, spam, tofu, pork belly, kimchi and topped with cheese! Also the perfect amount of spice. **Review is for my indoor experience in March, prior to indoor dining closing** Fun spot for KBBQ but definitely quite pricey for what you get. My friend and I came for lunch on a Saturday around 12:30, and to my surprise, the whole restaurant was empty. They have a good variety of Korean food, from hot plates to stews and ramens to rice boxes to hot pots, but we were here for the barbecue. Instead of ordering the meats a la carte, we opted to get Combo C, which comes with 2 cuts of beef and 2 cuts of pork, for $59. In particular, you get beef brisket and boneless short ribs, and pork collar and pork belly. When ordering, you have the option of grilling yourself or asking them to grill for you. We asked for them to grill. All the meat is cut into bite-sized pieces and grilled before being served on a single plate. There was plenty of meat, so much so that we were really struggling to finish everything by the end of the meal, but there were only a couple pieces of lettuce to eat with it. Definitely wanted more... I also wanted a variety of marinated and un-marinated meat. Instead, everything was unmarinated, and I had to dip all my meat into the two dipping sauces provided (samjung and yookjung). We also shared a side order of japchae for $3.95, which we both enjoyed. It's been a while since I've been this disappointed at a Korean Restaurant. I'll give this restaurant a pass for charging "extra" for banchans, ie. side dishes, another "extra charge" for a hot pot dish that is normally served with rice at ALL other Korean Restaurants that we've visited and the ridiculous cost of all these "extra charges" ...... But two things that I will not let pass is the disgusting/poor representation of Korean food and the poor service! I should have known that we were ordering crap when I saw the price for the Seafood pancake, which was more of a Seafood square. This is 100% frozen because I've bought this same looking/plastic tasting Seafood pancake from a Korean Market before. The Bulgogi Hot pot wasn't "HOT", not even close to lukewarm, and doesn't come 2 bowls of rice as indicated in the menu photo attached. The worst of the three dishes that we ordered was the "Gochujang" pork rice bowl. I'm married to a Korean and know the True spice level of ANYTHING WITH GOCHUJANG.... This was closer to Ketchup! And to top of this disappointing experience, the two waitresses working were either new or had no interest in making any tips. Other than serving our food, there was ZERO customer service! No follow up and no hint passable customer service! I understand everyone has their off day but if this is how the service is All The Time, might I suggest switching career paths! I am aware that most Asian Restaurants try to accommodate to more Western Pallets, keeping dishes on the blander side as most restaurant owners assume that customers not from their own region may not like the food. But I'm not even sure if the head chef of this restaurant is even Asian let alone Korea because Korean Food does NOT TASTE LIKE THIS! Our three course meal wasn't cheap either and the only reason that we even tipped is because we're used to tipping some amount even for poor service. So if you're Really craving some REAL KOREAN FOOD this is NOT THE PLACE you'd want to spend your money on!!! Been craving KBBQ and this was my first time trying our Dolpan. Unfortunately it didn't really hit the spot and I left still craving good KBBQ. We got the Beef Set (Set B on the menu) because it said it was good for 3-4 people. It came with: beef brisket, beef prime boneless short ribs, LA kalbi hot plate, hot tofu soup, rice bowls (x3), japchae, a cheese omelette and some sides (daikon, pink radish, sweet-soy potatoes, lettuce and some sauce). Reading from the menu we assumed it would be a lot of food but you can already tell from the pics there wasn't much ‍ for $88 you would expect the portions to be much bigger and to actually fill up 3-4 people's tummies. We had to order more sides on top of the set because we were still hungry. Also kinda wish the set included kimchi as well.. Not really sure how I felt about the set, thought it was kinda way overpriced for nothing. The portion was so tiny and definitely NOT enough for 3-4 people. Also we were under the impression that we would be able to cook the meats ourselves but to our surprise they was no grill and they cooked it in the back.. I very disappointed in this meal to say the least. We left hungry and also felt like we were cheated from the set we ordered lol. Besides that, the food was pretty good and decent. My favourite was the tofu soup and the japchae. Though both were extremely salty and we were all so thirsty afterwards. To sum it up I wont be back. Affordable, home-y and welcoming food choices! That's I would explain this place! The staff and the food all together make it a go to for us!! The kimchi rice, the sweet potato and the LA Kalbi beef is what has us coming back every 1-2 days.. yes, guilty is charged! When we say go to place, it is a key meal at least once a day. (whoops) I may get kicked for this opinion, but as someone who doesn't eat a lot of Rice (that's my boyfriend) potatoes are my substitute; I am more than happy the potatoes come with a charge and can bring it home to eat it happily. So I do. The rice is delicious, sometimes we miss the egg on top, but we do make one at home and add it on. It's not much of a big deal, since the kimchi rice is the star of our meal. We love it. The beef is DELICIOUSSS. I don't know how we didn't try it sooner!! It was soft and melted in your mouth, but also was not chewy or full of fat! It was something we don't order enough in this place, but we should start! Whenever we come in, we usually greet a lovely hostess and have a quick chat. Not very often do you find a Korean place where they barbecue some of the food for you. We ordered their special matcha crusted pork belly. The server cooked that for us, which I found interesting. Maybe it is to ensure that it is consistent for their special items. We did order a hotpot too but that was just your normal 'let it cook/boil in soup'. The place is small and some of the tables have fans above them. I recommend making a reservation so that you can get a table. The matcha pork belly was okay. They give you a small bowl of matcha powder for you to dip the cook pork belly. I found that it may help as by itself, you taste a hint of matcha but it is a bit dry. The japchae was good, it had a slight sweet taste, which was different than other places. The hotpot was really good. The soup also had a nice sweetness to it, so with it mixed with all the ingredients/food, the soup became very flavorful. The bulgogi beef ribs was tender and delicious. read more

Good quality meats! We ordered the beef and pork combo with a bulgogi hot pot - good size for three people. They have a lot of specials right now, and while their menu isn't cheap, the quality is there. The beef cuts were probably the best, very juicy and thick. I'd order more of that only next time. Hit the spot! The bulgogi hot pot was a little salty but overall flavoured well, with an assortment of veggies, meat and noodles. Warm-the-belly dish. We opted to cook for ourselves but there is an option to have them cook the meats for you. Restaurant is clean and well spaced out with plexi glass dividers. I love coming to Dolpan for food! They have a great lunch menu for BBQ meat but still offer some amazing side selection fo food, from bibimbap, to soups, to large hotspots. Today, I'll be mainly sharing my lunch menu experience: They offer two lunch menu BBQ options: a pork special $18 per person and pork and beef $24 per person. Note it's minimum of 2 order per combo. We ordered the pork combo and the meat were cooked perfectly! Every time it's perfectly crispy yet tender and the skin is very nice and chewy. Each order (per person) comes with a bowl of rice, 1 soup to share (for two people) and banchan (side dishes). I love their side dishes! They have a few small modern twists on their side dishes which I love - like the onion salads. The only thing is, they don't have kimchi! You will have to ask for it specifically and it may cost. Their service is also pretty good: they grill the meat for you (more modern take on korean bbq) and are there to consistently refill your side dishes, water, or any other requests. The place is also very well kept, clean, and spacious. There's two floors!!! If you're not sure where to start with their menu, I recommend lunch- less packed as well. read more

I've seen this restaurant blowing up on instagram, and I can definitely see why. Although this restaurant is most known for their Korean bbq meat, I wanted to try their army hot pot, as my boyfriend adores instant noodles, kimchi and sausages. This was the perfect place to try it out! The army hot pot was plenty of food for the both of us, with a variety of sausages, cabbage, instant noodles, and even a slice of cheese! I thought the cheese was weird at first, however it added a unique flavour to the hotpot that I didn't expect myself to like. The service at Dolpan is great as well. Usually when I go to any KBBQ place, I'm always quite satisfied and happy with my meal, because, I mean it's KBBQ! But this is the first time I've had a disappointing experience at a KBBQ place. The dishes were mediocre at most. Ridiculous that SIDE DISHES AREN'T COMPLIMENTARY? We ordered the pork set for 3-4 people and we thought we'd be able to cook it ourselves. Not sure why that wasn't possible (COVID?) but all the meat came cooked already in an unappealing pile of grease. The service was pretty bad too. I mean, I do acknowledge there was only two servers there for the whole place but they would purposely avoid us when we're trying to save us down for service. It is quite hard for us to find a good korean place to eat, especially in Richmond. However we stumbled on this amazing gem. For Korean cuisine, it's priced very well. Yes it definitely does seem pricy at the first menu glance, but comparing it to all the other restaurants, it is for sure worth the price when the food tastes amazing. We make korean pork bone soup at home which costs less than $10 bucks so if we are willing to pay for it while eating out, i can honestly tell you this place makes it worth it. We have tried the bbq food which is good, and the staff are very attentive, yet a bit miserable. They rarely smile which is probably the only reason I wouldnt give it 5 stars. We tried the matcha crusted pork belly which is definitely unique, but I would say I could pass on it and get the other dishes they offer. However if you do get this dish, i wouldnt recommend dipping it more in the matcha powder they offer you, just salt or the sweet sauce instead. Bf loves the egg volcano. I personally am not a huge fan of egg. I don't mind eating it but I rarely ever crave it but this is super fluffy, just the right amount of salty and sweet. The pork bone soup is my favorite. Im the type to get all the flavor off the bones and eat all the tendon as best i can, absorbing all that porky goodness. The Seafood pancake is really good too and for the size, the price is of course extremely high compared to making it at home, but for a restaurant it is definitely reasonable. Another dish that is memorable to me is the rice and cheese hot place. I am not a fan of rice but when cheese is involved, i almost died when the hot place came to our table. First impression wasn't so great. I made a reservation on Yelp for three people for 6:30pm. When we walked in nobody greeted us and all the staff were just walking right past us (it's a tiny restaurant...) Eventually one guy asked how many people. I said I had a reservation for three and he didn't care or seem to check and just pointed to the closest empty table with two settings. Once we were seated and ordered, the service was great. Our server kept refilling our teas and asking if we wanted more side dishes. The server also showed us the pork belly but cooked it on a flat grill top at the table next to us. She cooked the stew and let us know it was ready to eat. We ordered the matcha honeycomb pork belly, army base stew (budae jjigae), and volcano egg between the three of us. It came with two bowls of rice and side dishes. Oddly enough no kimchi or fishcake, but the side dishes were still tasty. The matcha pork belly was actually really nice. Interesting having crispy pork with the tea flavour. The stew was pretty standard and definitely had tons of sausage. The volcano egg was nice but could have been fluffier. It was a teeny bit overcooked. They put some sliced cheese on top which was nice. Overall their food is delicious and very nicely plated (they definitely didn't chuck it on a plate). The staff are super friendly and like any standard Korean bbq place, they cook for you! What I suggest to order: Korean Army Base Soup 1-2 orders of pork belly (to start with! Walked in without a reservation and got a table right away. Server was super friendly and also very helpful. I had a questions on one of the vegetable I was eating because I couldn't remember the name of it and a different server who was checking on us didn't know what it was, he apologized which my boyfriend and I were not upset at all, his response right away was " I am sorry, I don't know. I am going to ask' he came back a few minutes later even tho my boyfriend and I said ' it's okay, no need to' and he told us that it was pink radish. ( I thought that was such a nice thing to do ). Servers were very helpful when I had some questions about the menu and explained things to us in a very polite way. Food was great. Came here because we missed Seoul and Korean BBQ. This place was busy for a Wednesday night. We were told when we called the night before that they don't take reservations anymore, and is a first in first served basis. We arrived around 6ish and were shown upstairs as the main floor was full. There are five tables upstairs and we had one of the last two. Needless to say, it was completely full within minutes. No joke. The set up at Dolpan reminds me very much of Hanam Pig in Seoul (a popular & reliable chain). The grill plates are very similar, as well as the seating with storage for your valuables. Even the logo is a pig. We ordered the honeycomb samgyeopsal (pork belly) and Dolpan premium galbi (boneless short rib). Minimum order for BBQ is two. An assortment of banchan, one egg volcano and a soybean soup comes standard with BBQ items. We also added the kimchi fried rice. Similar to BBQs in Seoul, you do not need to grill your own food here as the server does it all. Just sit back and eat. I must admit that the pork belly was cut thick and cooked perfectly. That's the way it should be served. I wasn't a fan of the galbi as I was expecting a thicker cut of beef rib. I just wish that they didn't slice it thin. I think it would have been better as a thicker cut. I'm paying for a premium beef at a premium price. I would have even paid a little more for a thick cut. The meats were not marinated which is how it's usually done Korea. The egg volcano was great. I had it many times before as part of set meals and I never really enjoyed it. But it is very well done here, I would actually order it on its own. The soup was nice as it had the strong flavour of fermented soybean that I really enjoy. The kimchi fried rice was lacking in seasoning. It was a little bland and a bit greasy. All the banchan that came with the dishes were great. The restaurant can be a a bit more generous with the lettuce as we love wrapping our grilled meats. That being said, the servers were quick to bring us more lettuce and banchan when requested. Service was great if I forgot to mention. Our server was doing it all with the five tables he had upstairs. All in all, it was a good experience. A solid 3.5 stars, but I rounded up to 4 because it's as authentic a Seoul BBQ experience that can be had in Vancouver given fire & building codes here...can't blame the restaurant for that. However, I must say, the quality of meat is much better for the same price in Seoul...oh, how I miss the Jeju black pork! I'm willing to pay higher prices here if they offer comparable quality. So. Awful. I. Will. Not. Come. Back. This makes me so sad! I've missed korean bbq so much, and I thought that I would be able to come to Vancouver and have some since Edmonton doesn't have any decent spots. But instead I came to have an unsatisfying overpriced meal. There was just so much wrong.. I don't know where to start but I will try: 1. They don't even have real grills... like the ones that are suppose to sit in the middle of your table. Instead they used those portable gas stoves with a griddle on top. 2. Our server was nice in a sense? but BOSSY. "Put this here", "Don't put that there for the meat". I don't get charged up the ass for you to tell me where I can and cannot put my banchan, thank you very much. 3. Incorrect information: our server told us that if we ordered at least 3 of the bbq grill sets that we would only have to pay for 2 and we would get the third one for free. AWESOME! because these prices were a little ridiculous and we would be saving $25.. butttttt no, we don't get the deal in the end because our server comes back after 15 min just to tell us that the deal is only applicable if we paid with cash. HOW ANNOYING IS THAT? That's not her fault, I'm sure she didn't make that rule up on her own, but I would have appreciated it if all of this information was shared while we were being seated. 4. The prices were absolutely ridiculous... the prices are as follows: -Pork belly $25 -Matcha pork belly $21.95 -Pork jowl $24.95 -Premium pork cheek/neck $25.95 -Brisket $24.95 -Boneless beef short ribs $34.95 If you eat at an all you can eat Korean bbq place it would cost maybe $25-$30 per person for an endless amount of meats and with plenty of variety! Here, you get two dinky slabs of pork belly for $25... WHAT IN THE WORLD. And I get it if you're paying for the quality of meat because I have paid that much or even more for some tender kick ass quality meat. Here, I tasted very basic all you can eat quality or maybe even lower quality. Overall, this just makes me sad to write. Yay - finally found a Korean restaurant that is different from others! My partner and I decided to check this place out...although it was Valentine's day and we didn't have reservations. We went during prime time so we were told it was 50 minutes wait time which we decided to wait it out...definitely worth it though!! The servers were speedy - provided us with tea and menu less than a minute after we sat down! Bravo to that! Didn't even need to signal them or get their attention...they just took care of us! Fun restaurant as we ordered the soju bomb combo and they gave us these adorable little glass cups with directions on it! We really wanted to buy it LOL! It was cute cause one of the server was helpful and taught us the right way of proportioning our soju bombs and this neat chopstick trick! Food was delicious! We ordered the army hotpot and kimchi fried rice with cheese - so full! It came with side dishes and this fluffy egg volcano. LOVED it! It was unique! We finished everything which I would say its the perfect amount for 2 people if you're hungry! Price was quite average for a Korean restaurant so it was no surprise to us. Hands down...I would choose this place over any other Korean place if you want good food with average price! I would come back for sure and suggest this place to anyone!! :) read more

We came, no reservation but our timing was right. They got us a table for three and we got tea right away. When we ordered, we had some questions and they were very helpful. They helped us order our dishes and kept offering refills for our side dishes. We ordered the Korean army stew for about $33 which is good for two or three people. It came with side dishes of potato and kimchi and sprouts and pickles. It also came with a bowl of steamed eggs which was light and fluffy and just heavenly. My favourite dish that night. We also got two bowls of rice with this dish. In addition we wanted to order some Korean pancake. We ordered the seafood pancake. I have to admit it was fun eating here. KTB and I and our Japanese Food Critique had fun with each dish. I would call this happy food to eat. Why? The Army stew is made from spam and wieners. Those are fun ingredients! How can it not be fun? The seafood pancake wasn't quite as crispy on the bottom as I'd like but it was tasty! Overall? It was pretty good. Next time I want to try the pork belly dishes. So a solid 4 stars to start with. Maybe with a bottle of Soju it will be 5 stars. I think this place is here to stay. I wish them all the success!!! Typos free of charge with this review. PS. It was a pretty awful experience for an expensive Korean restaurant. The host did not greet to seat us even for over 5 minutes and we had to wave down a server to grab the host's attention. He was quite rude and put a face when we finally caught his attention. I don't expect much from service in Richmond, but this host was exceptionally bad. Food wise it was definitely not worth the price. The BBQ pork and beef were cooked for you on a metal plate with portable gas stoves. They overcook the meat and made it very chewy. Like another review said, it does not have much taste and requires a lot of dipping sauce. Definitely one of the worst Korean BBQ I've had. Cook the meat yourself is my suggestion. Next is the pork bone soup. It was quite bland. The pork is cook very tender, but once again lacks any type of flavour. The highlight of the meal is the puffed eggs. It is quite interesting and tastes quite unique. Definitely try it if you go. This got the review an extra star. The saddest part is I found the free side dishes to taste the best out of the entire dinner. Although the host was horrendously rude, the server at our table was very nice and responded to all out requests immediately. Pretty much any Korean BBQ place in Vancouver, coquitlam, and Burnaby is better. read more

We had an absolutely great time here, and the food was fantastic. Loved the modern feeling and the K-Pop background music. The only downside was that the prices of the meats were really high, so we didn't end up getting any grill items at all. I ordered the soju melona popsicle cocktail, which was truly amazing and I wish I knew how to make it at home. I also got the kimchi jigae, which was perfect. Extremely spicy in the best way. We also got the Gamjajeon, which was fabulous, and the others in my group shared a hot pot. The hot pot was great but huge, too much food even for the three of them! We were all stuffed but very happy. The price was pretty high, but if we came back we would probably only order one hot pot for the four of us and it wouldn't be so bad. Dolpan Seoul is better than any of the Korean restaurants I have at home. I wish I could visit again! read more

Holy moly where do I start. We came right when they opened at 5 for dinner. We made reservations via Yelp. Got a free soda from checking in on yelp. You might wanna think about making a reservation ahead of time because it does get pretty busy later on. They have tons of vents, so don't worry about it getting stuffy or smelling too much like meat everywhere. They cook the food for you! They know how to cook it best, just trust them. It's worth it. Our server was awesome he took care of everything and he was super nice, he deserves a raise that's how nice he was. Their service was amazing. They got their menu with pictures! We ordered a pork and beef platter, an egg volcano, a soybean soup, couple of steamed rice, and a couple drinks. All of which were great! Side dishes were also awesome! The platter: had the option between well done or medium rare. One of our meat pieces had a medium length hair pierced through it (too long to be mine, to short to be my friends) but our server was extremely professional about it, brought it back to the supervisor and apologized (a lot) and gave us a discount. We weren't mad about the hair at all, we know it happens. Our meat platter only a couple pieces had more fat than meat (which is also normal) overall it was great!! Egg: delicious. Don't be scared it might be a different color at the bottom that's just the other ingredients! Definitely get it! Drinks: Melona Soju Cocktail, approx 355-400ml, and SUPER good! We stopped by here for dinner as we were in the area. Our server was accommodating and allowed us to place one order of pork belly (usually minimum order is two BBQ meats) and an order of japchae. Service is fantastic as they cook the food for you. This is similar to my experiences in Seoul and LA. The food itself is definitely more similar to the Seoul experience though. It was more about quality than quantity. The banchan were nice and more unique than the usual assortment at many places I have tried. The egg volcano was a good egg dish. There are not too many places that serves this for some reason. It was quite common when I was at Korea to find this egg dish. The japchae was loaded with onions and some beef. The pork belly was good although the portion size is small when compared to the price. Overall, the quality of the food is good. The price is a bit more than other places. However, it is a nice BBQ experience when you can have someone else do the cooking and cleaning. read more

Just a warning - if you dine indoors, the 'COMBO MEALS' DO NOT come with a soda, although the menu outside does not mention this at all ( as of this moment it also does not say it online). We were told this is offered for takeout only. Sad because I was looking forward to having a drink, did not realize now there is a yelp check that could have made up for that :( Food quality is really really great - we had kimchi jigae combo, and Pork Combo A. Pork was super juicy - although to wrap it was just lettuce and bean sauce, I thought there's be at least one other garnish. Kimchi friend rice that came along was tasty, although it's hard to make kimchi fried rice bad. Kimchi jigae was decent. Cheese omelette is like takoyaki garnish (benito flakes and all), tasted like eating takoyaki without the takoyaki. Portions are on the small-medium side, although deceptively filling. Authentic, simple homemade style food. Service-wise.. We waited up to an hr to dine in, even though we were told 45 minutes. That's okay, waiting just makes food more delicious! Service was slow, Dolpan is not a big restaurant, with 4 tables. Just waiting to pay took forever, waiting to call them to ask why we didn't have sodas, just to be told what was offered in the menu is a take out only option. So I paid +$7 more for just a small omelette with some cheese in it and potato that are normally included in banchan. Flagging the waiter was hard for such a small space. I'm not surprised the wait took that long for people because of how long it took for us to even leave.. at first I thought the people ahead of us were just taking their sweet time at the table but now I realize they were just waiting to pay.. I would advise everyone to just get takeout, the food is probably the best Korean food in Richmond but the slow service, misleading menu, ..it seems like there is more value to get takeout. read more

I haven't gone to a lot of Korean BBQ places before and never to one where they cook the meat for you (which I hear is common in Korea) rather than you doing it yourself. I think experience wise, it's still more fun to grill it yourself. There are a few tables with fans for ventilation and then some without. Since ours didn't have one, they barbecued it for us on a large table in the middle of the restaurant. We got the beef and pork lunch combo for $22/person which came with beef belly, pork belly, and another kind of beef. I didn't look close enough at the menu to see if we should've gotten one more meat dish though I see from the pictures here, it seems like there are four kinds of meat. There were also some kabocha and mushrooms for grilling as well. It also came with rice, soup, and side dishes (potatoes, pickled radishes, bean sprouts, onions). There were also sauce dishes of miso, sesame, and seasoned salt. I thought the quality of the meat was pretty good but without any seasoning or marinade, it was kind of boring, even with the sauces. I also felt that the portions we got were very small for four people, definitely not worth $22/person. I also wish they included more vegetables, it literally came out to one slice of kabocha per person. The service was good, very quick and attentive though none of the servers were particularly friendly. I guess they were too busy in between the barbecuing and getting people's orders. The free refills of the side dishes did come very quickly though and we didn't need to ask. The other thing I didn't like was the seating. Some seats were proper chairs and others were stools, which isn't very personally comfortable for eating, and we had to stack our coats on a chair that actually had a back. read more
