From the outside it does not look much as it typically looks like any Asian eatery that can be mistaken for even Chinese/Korean but as you go inside, the backdrop of Downtown Tokyo brings you facing the Sushi Chef, waiting for your order. We ordered the Sashimi plate, which is really fresh and tastes very good, though the price of over $35 for the not-so many pieces it is served with was a little disappointing honestly The Salmon Sushi was the highlight in our opinion, as this was definitely one of the best rolls we have ever tasted, as the freshness of the fish and the condiments/vegggies did hit the spot. The service from the female server was excellent, the quality of the sushi was fresh, however the prices were extremely high which is fine since we chose to dine here. Apparently the Blue Fin Tuna was shipped from Japan so we decided to try it. It was okay. My standards are high after having years of amazing sushi/sashimi from Vancouver Canada. The 3 piece Trio Sampler of Bluefin Tuna Sushi was $40. We also ordered a salmon roll it arrived with a very small amount of salmon. Furthermore, to our surprise, an 18% service charge was automatically added to our bill even though there were only two of us. We made a reservation through Open Table. Open Table sent me an email letting me know that the owner (who also served us one dish) marked us as a "NO SHOW". Now I wonder if the restaurant had to pay an extra fee to Open Table when we accumulated 1000 points for our reservation. I believe in ethical conduct when it comes to making reservations. It was more similar to katsu, which doesn't work as well on a lighter protein like soft shell crab. The worst was the ikura. The roe was not fresh. The eggs weren't firm, and were heavy with a salty flavor rather than a lighter saline taste. Had a slimy mouthfeel. What a great 1st impression! iShushi has only been open for a couple of weeks but it didn't seem like it...everything ran like a well oiled machine! Our server, Gaviota was patient and very detailed when explaining how the ordering works. EVERTHING is ordered through the iPad (even refills so don't expect your server to automatically bring you 1 when they come to the table. I needed 1 and Gaviota showed me how to request it on the iPad) The food came out timely and the presentation was nice and clean. The sushi was delicious. The menu is kinda jinky BUT the concept is cool, the atmosphere is very techy; very cool: a great place to bring friends, dates, etc, if you want sushi rolls on the cheap. Other than the rolls prices inflate. Substantially. Also, because it's starting out they're not serving alcohol just yet. Other than that it's really good! The food is delicious, the staff is excellent, the ambience is great and the gimmic is really cool! The only downside to the gimmic is that your waiter needs to brief you on the app, it's a bit confusing and it's buggy. However, for being the first of its kind, the good food (and honestly for being a fan of the tech aspect even though it could use a little work) and just the nature of the place, I definitely recommend it for anybody looking for good sushi and a good time with friends. 5/5 just because I really like it, honest rating 4.5 read more

iSushi is the most legit sushi place on the island. At other places you'll witness ridiculous things like cream cheese in every roll (the heck?). The sushi here is prepared properly and served fresh, with decent prices and weekly specials. The fish is flown in twice weekly and if you eat there often you can get on a mailing list and get notified when the fish arrives. They also have pretty good Chinese food. The ipad ordering system also makes it hard to screw up the order which is great, although I did have a waitress forget the miso soup once. But for an establishment in PR the service is good. I think the waiters are sometimes in a bit of an akward situation as most people will put add ons during the meal through the ipads rather than flag down the waiters so they are less on the lookout for customers wanting help. An improvement would be adding a button to the app so the waiter knows you have a question about the menu or need some direct help. I especially enjoy their bento boxes! read more

I found this restaurant on Yelp and decided to take my wife and two kids there after a day at the pool. It had the best rating of local sushi places. I do wish the service was better as we would not have sat and waited whilst they forgot my wife's order completely. I would not have had the time to take in the terrible ambiance including super awkward and worn out iPad ordering terminals that weren't explained or the terrible yelp review that my wife saw regarding THE FINGERNAIL. My group of 4 came here and had a fabulous dinner. We were super hungry and are honestly more than a bit high maintenance but were so pleased with Everything! The people were all incredibly nice (& so patient with us)! The food was great and the portions humongous. 2 people had sushi which was fresh and excellent. The teriyaki filet mignon was enormous & perfectly cooked. The Scottish salmon was so good but I could only eat half of the portion. We came in and were immediately greeted by our server who was friendly and in a good mood. The place had just open for the day so there was not any people there. We were seated, and the server explained to us their menu experience through an iPad. The reason it gets 3 stars is because, even though we truly enjoyed our meal, the prices were high for the amount of food. This sushi restaurant is supposed to have some of the best sushi in San Juan. If you believe that good food can make up for bad service, stop reading this review now. I never got to ordering, and you should try the food if you think that way. With that said, I never got to try the food because I was so turned off by the terrible service that I got up and left. When I walked in, there was no clear hostess stand to wait at, and there were two servers working tables. They were not that busy. Each server had only 2-3 tables to serve. Neither even looked up to nod or acknowledge my presence in any way. I just stood there awkwardly for a couple of minutes, not sure if I was supposed to seat myself or not. The owner finally came out, saw me and seated me. Next, the server came over and took a drink order. They have this stupid gimmick with iPads on each table. Fine...maybe it helps someone put in their own order if the server is busy. But how they use it is terrible. For the drink order, I asked for tap water. Instead of just walking away to get a glass of water, the server bent over my table, turned the iPad so I could see it, and tapped though several screens just to order and "check out" with a glass of water. This took at least half a minute. For water. He finally walked away, leaving the tablet facing me with the screen on a very irritating high brightness setting. Not only did this iPad gimmick serve no purpose, it wastes time and is left as a bright light shining into your eyes in a dark room. Ugh. I gave the server around 5 minutes. He never returned. No water. No food order. During this time the owner was taking to friends at a nearby table. It's great when owners come out to talk to customers and friends. But when they stand there engrossed with ONE table while customers are waiting, it sends a very different message. So I got up and left. In doing so, I walked right passed the owner, who didn't even notice to ask why a customer was walking out of his restaurant. Terrible service. The owner may think that good food makes up for bad service. Not in my books. There are better options in San Juan with good sushi AND good service. What a nice experience for both the food and atmosphere. I sat outside on the sidewalk where the people watching was delightful while I sipped my wine and ate. This trip I sampled 3 appetizers- edemame, the crab and cucumber salad, and the tuna tartare. All were excellent and nice portions, especially the crab and cucumber salad. I have ALWAYS wanted to try Japanese Kobe beef! The thing is it's pretty hard to find and rarely served for under $150. So you can imagine my surprise when I found Kobe beef on this nice little modern sushi restaurant's menu in Condado San Juan for under $100. I must admit... there are some things you just don't expect to live up to the hype, for me, that is Kobe beef. I just couldn't figure how it could be better than a good aged ribeye. I was so friggin wrong! I ordered the Japanese steak and a Ginger Fried Lobster tail dish that was also amazing. No sooner had the order reached the back when the owner came out to see who had requested the coveted dish. Between his assurance on the quality and the amazing service staff (Will) my experience was unforgettable. The steak melts in your mouth like Fabio's butter. There was no seasoning besides salt, pepper, and a little butter, that was all it needed. The beef provides more flavor than any other I ever tasted. And the veggies they pair it with make for an excellent combination with every bite. I went back two days later to get the sushi I originally went there for... which was also awesome! I just had the worst experience ever in a restaurant, I don't normally write reviews like this but I am absolutely offended by this restaurant owner who treated me with such disrespect only because I asked if I could sit at a table that was marked "Reserved" the restaurant was totally empty, there was only one other small group there, so the waitress said "ok" but then a after putting in my order I was then approached by another waiter who told me I had to move. Which surprised me, because again they were EMPTY, but I moved, later the owner came out to speak to me about why he moved me but he had such an arrogant attitude with that I was blown away. At that point I was so uncomfortable that I decided to get up and leave. This owner has NO clue on how to speak to people has no business being in the restaurant business. Would not recommend supporting a business has no respect for its customers. Update, I just read his reply to my review and he is totally lying through his teeth, I asked the waitress if I could sit there and she turned on the iPad for me so I can put in my order, and no where was it marked as a handicap table. Nice try on the owner's part to try and Gain peoples sympathy by using that analogy of a handicap parking space how pathetic of him. this is a perfect example of why this guy has no business in the restaurant business. About 25 mins later the establishment calls back to tell me the order I WAS TRYIN TO CANCEL was ready. I didn't pick up, they cancelled my online account where I PURCHASE AT THE MOMENT THE FOOD. So I called today to have my sushi done, to personally pick. 2 employees were rude SAYING THEY WERE NOT GOING TO TAKE MY ORDER. Don't come here expecting to eat in a hurry. I ordered a Chirashi bowl and wife ordered two Maki rolls. This experience proved to take over an hour to make it to our table, with little to no customers on a Tuesday night. Wife asked for a fresh soda as hers got watery from our wait and waitress told us they charge for refills but would waive this one for us. To add insult to injury, waiter asked to be tipped in cash citing something about electronic taxes using the "iPads" you order from. So much for the technology experience.
