I hate giving a bad review because John is a ok guy but he has some issues. First thing is it shouldn't take a day and a half to install a kitchen backsplash. I'm a pretty handy guy and I could have done just as good of a job if not better as photos show. I paid $760 for a professionally installed kitchen backsplash not a DIY looking job, the corner (photo) is not how a professional installation should look. Also a lot of tiles have no space in between them I could have done better than that! Other review said John left a mess after fixing a roof I believe it, my wife told me he just dumped tiles off his tile cutter table (photo) and put it away that's just being lazy. Also at the end of the first day he tells me if he got any mortar anywhere it scraps off, really! He should have covered my granite counter so I didn't have to scrape it off! I just wanted him to finish and leave it's turned out ok that's why he gets 2 stars not 1 but not $760 good. He might be better for other things but tiles isn't his specialty wouldn't recommend. read more

I had a great experience with John. He's hard working, old school and has an ethic and demeanor that truly harkens back to a different and better time where things were more personalized and human. He's a story teller and a jack of all trades. He did a lot of painting for me, patched up drywall, replaced a deeply troubled anode rod and fixed a whole host of other long-standing problems in the house. I have plans to use him on my countertops and cabinets soon, and I'm truly glad to have met him. He's honest, fair and takes great pride in his work. I trusted him completely with access to the house when I was at work. John's work is adequate but, we had to clean up roof tile he threw on the ground after roof repairs, paint masking tape and plastic paint covering sheets that he failed to throw away. John claimed there was nowhere to deposit trash (even though there is a proprietary dumpster right at the entrance of the driveway in plain sight). The refuse was not even piled up for disposal, just left at the job areas. read more

My husband and I have been wanting to replace two old light fixtures that were on 18 foot vaulted ceilings. We called around to a few handymen and they all said they did not have a ladder tall enough to reach. We called John Werner at JJ Handyman Services and he said that if he did not have a ladder tall enough to reach the fixtures that he will get one. Sure enough he purchased a ladder for this job and came over the next day to replace the light fixtures. His price was beyond reasonable, he charged us half of what other handymen initially quoted us before they stated they could not even do the job. A wonderful experience awaits. What can I say about John? Knowledgeable, fair, honest, clean, personable, integrity..... I can't begin to rave enough about John! The Fire Department and police showed up because we smelled gas leaking. Any handyman off the internet could have found any problem and charged any amount - NOT JOHN. In ten minutes all was fixed and then we started on all the little things that get so easily forgotten, He fixed drywall, changed light bulbs, got rid of a dead palm tree..... after every thing was done I would find some thing else. John spent several days helping us remodel our great room which included mounting brick and tin panels to our walls, hanging pictures in places we could never reach, and hanging a 100 lb 85" TV. This was a project we visualized for many, many months--and when the materials went on holiday sale, I went ahead and ordered them. I didn't realize that it would be nearly impossible to find a handyman to make this all come together just before the holidays, because our regular handyman contracted Covid and was no longer available. I searched and searched, and no one could do the job--or if they could the price was astronomical. Then, by chance, I came across John's info on another neighborhood site directory and gave him a call. Where others said "can't do", John DID! And he did a wonderful job, helping us take our dream and making it into reality. And when additional project parts arrived later than scheduled, John altered his schedule to get the job done. On "About the Owner", John writes "We're prompt, neat, and dependable." I could not say it any better than that, other than to add that he is honest, works hard, provides great value and cares about each client and every job---and he's a nice guy. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I was counting on getting my door fixed! He told me he would come on Thursday at 4pm. He didn't come nor reach out. So I called him back to reschedule for Friday. He told me he would come at 3. On Friday he called at 1 saying he could come by earlier than that. I said okay sounds good. I sent him my address and told him my gate code. I also told him my major cross streets were 57th Ave and Baseline. He calls me telling me he can't find my house. (I think is weird because any map app is going to take you right to my house. It's not a difficult house to find). So I spent 10 minutes on the phone explaining to him that he had to go to to 57th Ave and Baseline to enter my community. He was not understanding. Turns out he was on camelback! So I sent him my location through IPhone text message. He didn't open it. Instead he kept saying "I can't find you ma'am". Not putting in any effort nor TRYING to understand my very clear directions. Lazy and horrible! read more
