I decided to try JJ's because it was near my work. I went twice. My most recent mani/pedi was terrible. I am so sorry to say, but it was the worst one I ever had. The positive is the new owner is wonderful and very friendly. He just hired a new girl. This was her first week and she had no clue what to do. I asked her how long she has been doing nails and she said she does them out of her home. I asked what school she went to and she said she received a certificate. The pedi started off with her forgetting to put the dividers between my toes (she apologized), she used the cuticle nipper to cut my toenails not a nail clipper, she did not clip my fingernail cuticles, and she never gave me a hand massage with lotion. My mani/pedi almost took 2 hours. Yes, I should of said something right away, but I didn't. I did still tip. It has been bothering me, that's why I decided to write the review. read more

I have been going to JJ's for 6 years now. Sophia the owner is a lovely woman and has a gift for working with ingrown nails. She's like a surgeon when digging them out. I love my pedicures and how she cares for my feet! Her salon is relaxing with low lights and soft music. She offers a variety of nail services. Also, provides waxing and permanent makeup. This might have been a good salon at one point. It has 4 manicure stations, 5 pedicure stations, three massage rooms - all empty now. Now, the facility is dark and worn. The only tech working there now is the owner who complains a lot about how COVID killed her business. Pedicure was brief and not well done- nails were clipped before they were soaked, no chip light cord was taped to box and didn't stay on longer than 10 seconds, paint job done poorly. I don't think it was just COVID-the shop needs a total overhaul and the owner needs to work on attitude and skill. read more

The owner was extremely nice, but unfortunately that's about the only positive. I went with two other people to get dip and no chip manicures. All of our nails have imperfections, bumps, etc. I got the dip. The no chip services took 30 mins, my dip took 2 hours and I am not exaggerating. When they said it was done, it looked terrible and streaky. They had to put no chip over it to fix it and it's already peeling a couple days later. The techs were asking each other how to do things and constantly checking each other's mistakes. I would never come back. It also cost more than I pay downtown for the same service. read more

A relaxing (in the absence of chatty clients) and interesting place where a Hello Kitty pedicure "throne" sits in the back of the store. Pleasant multi-racial place of employees and they give their upmost care and attention to each client. I go for the deluxe package because my legs need some massage work besides pedicure. There are 2 different types of filing off dead feet skin so ask for the metal one, otherwise the pumice stone file is used which does not do much for my heels. I have not tried their other services but I am sure they are just as good or better as others out there. One star short of 5 represents continued room for improvement. read more

My friend and I called last minute and they told us to come on in for two full sets of acrylics. This was my first time there. They had started my nails 20-30 mins before my friends, yet somehow I finished last anyways. I don't mind waiting for a set of some good acrylics, yet they were very thick and uneven. My nail tech didn't talk to me at all, yet the nail tech was very bubbly and friendly. The acrylics came out to $70, which is pretty pricey considering they weren't the best I've seen. I tipped $20 (29% tip) because I was thankful for the last minute fit. However, I had gotten my nails done Wednesday and the by the following Saturday, ALL 10 of my nails popped off. I have a tendency to CRACK nails, but these straight up came off in one piece. My glue ons last longer than these $70 acrylics. These are by far the worst acrylics I have ever gotten, and they were pretty pricey considering they didn't last nor look nice. I never write reviews but after 5/10 nails of my came off, I figured it would be a waste of my time to go back and get it fixed. It wasn't just one nail, but all 10. read more

Zero stars. Awful customer service. Made an appointment for 3 people (2 plus child) for 12:45. Show up on a Sunday with 1 person working. We all sit and she starts my daughters pedicure while we sit in cold water. She finished my daughter And turned to start me and I ask if someone else is coming to do my mother's nails. She said "oh she's at church" I said " ok when will she be here?" She did not have an exact answer nor did she think it was a big deal that we were already sitting there waiting for almost 45 minutes. So we immediately left. Thank goodness we were just going for a casual nail day not to celebrate anything or we would have been even more upset than we already were. I'm not one for writing reviews but I felt the need to express my gratuity to the salon! I called and made an appointment for a pedicure and acrylic full set and let me tell you Sophia did AMAZING. I was not only so impressed with my nails but I was very impressed with how clean and organized things were during COVID. I love that they only take one appointment an hour so there aren't too many people in the salon at once and everyone is wearing masks. I will definitely be coming back! read more

I had been here once before to get acrylics taken after my wedding and decided to give it a real shot. I often do my own manicures but it was a treat yo self sorta day! So happy I did. I arrived promptly around 10am for a manicure, no appointment. I was asked to wait which I was happy to do since I showed up with an appointment. They did an absolutely wonderful job! They made sure I was happy with how my nails were shaped and the length before she polished them. She was so attentive to my cuticles and didn't nick me once. The polish was perfect, completely dry upon leaving. I will certainly be returning here. One of the ladies directed a young man to do my mani/pedi, and he did not seem happy about it judging by their heated exchange. Just a little awkward. He also abruptly left in the middle of my manicure without saying anything. Another woman stopped working on her client and came over to finish my nails. Kinda strange. I have been going to jjs for 8 years now and it is the only nail salon I will go to. Sofia and all the employees are always so nice to me. This is the only nail salon where my no chip really doesn't chip, it lasts about a month until i have to get them redone just because my nails grow out. I read all the 5 star reviews and decided to give this place a try. They said I could have a 1p appt. Finally got in the chair at 1:30. People's cell phones were ringing, techs kept switching from one person to another and in the end I had an ok pedicure and a bubbled up manicure. I have never felt so rushed all while having a mani pedi that finished just past 3p. If it was solid pampering for 2 hours, I would have given a much different review. Instead, everyone was running around like crazy. They said they were understaffed. I get that. But if that is the case, don't make so many appointments at one time. The price is great at $35 but I would have rather paid $45 and had it feel like a mini vacation than an inconvenience to the techs who needed to get to the next client. The last time my tech was switched out - on my last coat of nail polish - I asked why and the new tech responded, "oh, if she leaves you she can go make more money." Nice. Thanks. To those of you that have 5 stars, I hope you do get the 5 star service you deserve. Hopefully you don't think this is the way other nail places work bc they do not. read more

The area is small, which is fine, but the pedicure area was not the greatest -- lighting was bad and employees use the area as their lounge. Thought I'd try this place from a friends recommendation. Got in no problem, which is nice. Gal on the phone was nice and spoke english. Got in, place seemed a little small. I am on the shorter side and had to sit on the end of my chair the whole time. I clearly looked uncomfortable and my back was killing me. I would have thought someone would have offered to help but the guy doing my nails was too busy looking around, whispering and touching others as they walked by. Not real professional and made me uncomfortable. If he stood still, he wouldnt have nipped my toe. However, there are so many reasons I ALWAYS CHOOSE JJs: -The staff is so accommodating, and Sophia has an incredible intuitive sense of what the client needs. She is constantly sharing this wisdom and teaching all the staff members. As a lifetime nailbiter, she is the only person who has helped through many phases of getting me to grow my nails to be strong and healthy. -The choices of products are the latest and greatest--so many color choices for no-chip, manicures, pedicures, and even the opportunity for gel and tips. - I can get a pedicure and a massage at the same time! The pedi chairs are awesome--they do a full massage while my feet are being pampered! The staff also gives warm oil massage on my legs. The oil feels so much better than just lotion--and the smoothness lasts a lot longer! -I tend to smudge my polish or break my nails often. They will always fix them without hesitation. Visited this place a few times in the past couple of years with my two daughters and yesterday for Mother's Day we made another and our final trip there. Never EVER EVER again!!! The towels used on us should not to be even be called towels any more?!!! Dirt rags I wouldn't use for floor cleaning let alone on paying clients?!!! Just plain NASTY!!! The HOT towel treatment was actually a WET FREEZING COLD towel?!! Seriously?!! I set up an appointment 3 hrs prior to service, there were 2 other clients there and they had no HOT towels?!...The horrible service does not even end there! One of my daughters ended up with a bloody (open cut look a like) nail file burn on her toes!!! They filled her nails so so hard that the tips of her toes have open cuts from file burns- and she did say it on more than one occasion that it hurts and pulled her foot away...My pedicure was super smeared, uneven, white lines on french pedicure style were random from nail to nail. My daughters pedicure was all over their toes not just nails and it was not cleaned up at all. Matter of fact one of the ladies stepped on her toe while doing a manicure, smeared her toe nail polish, said she would fix it and never did afterward. They didn't do the colors my daughter requested and instead chose the color for her even though she was clear what she wanted...Technicians kept changing on us and other customers every 5 minutes, not washing hands or even switching the gloves in between...They were all looking at the door and who came/walked in than what they were looking at what they were actually doing. Regardless of their price I WILL NEVER walk in there again and will spend time praying neither one of us got some fungus or something else while there read more
