I ordered the mushroom burger and it was so tasty! I also ordered fries. Food comes ala cart here so you will pay for fries but the burgers are pretty inexpensive. The fries!!!!! This was our first time visiting, and we had a really good experience. Service was friendly and quick, and the atmosphere was fun. Good music, fun bar and grill vibes, and good burgers. I had the Smokey the Beer Cheese Burger (really yummy beer cheese), and my son had the Great American Cheese Burger. Our group also ordered a few of the chicken sandwiches. Two orders of fries was plenty for the five of us, and I love when restaurants allow you to just get the burger and decide if you want fries. Most places serve the burgers with fries, and a lot of times it's too many fries. This way you don't have to get fries with every burger or sandwich. We aren't in Burnsville often, but I would go back if we were ever in the neighborhood again. read more

I'll start by saying that this used to be our go to burger place in Burnsville. It was kind of a guilty pleasure stop, having a fresh burger, hot salty fries and an ice cold beer. BUT today's visit, something was off.... Waters and sodas were brought without ice, my beer glass was noticeably smaller than a usual, and all of our burgers were tough, seeming like a frozen, pre-patty from the dollar store. On top of that, the floors were greasy and slippery.... It's never been like this before, so I hope they are just having a bad day, broken ice machine, and missed their fresh burger delivery!! read more

My family (myself, husband, and 3 boys) came here for lunch on a Friday. They sat us in a large booth right in the entryway. There was no kids' menu, but it wasn't a problem. 4 of us ordered burgers, and the youngest (6) had chicken strips. The burgers are well priced, and the sides are extra, which worked great for us - we all had our own main and then split an order of loaded fries. We all enjoyed our burgers - we felt that the burgers were all about the toppings, and not about the burger itself. Which we are okay with - there's a time for burgers for the meat, and a time for burgers for the toppings. :) I think we all decided that we would come back again. read more

I'm the running for the best burger in the Twin Cities? Yeah... I think so! I had the Ragin' Cajun burger with Cajun fries and I would say it was fantastic. Very flavorful and it hit the spot perfectly. I love Cajun on pretty much anything - but the combo of the grilled onions and Cajun lime sauce really took this to the next level. The Cajun fries weren't my favorite because I like a crispier fry experience, however the jalapeño ranch paired nicely with them! I wish there were more location - as Burnsville is a hike for me and I only swung by because this has been on my list for awhile and I was coming back from a coaching trip at Shattuck. Brought here by a dear friend and coworker. I was told it was one of the best burgers he's had. Needless to say, I can't disagree. The burger tasted great and was cooked perfectly, but those fries. JL Beers is a favorite of my family. We have been eating here for years. They always have great service, a very wide selection of drinks, and the food is always great. Everything is made in house and to order, and you can definitely tell when dig in. I highly recommend the potato chips (made to order of course) with buffalo and a few sides of jalapeño ranch. Visited 11/15/22. Headed over right after my work day and this made for a great place to unwind after a busy day. Got there around 4:30 and it was not busy at this time. When I left around 5:45, it had picked up but there were definitely tables still open so no one had to worry about a wait. Server was attentive and checked in regularly which was greatly appreciated. I got the seasonal cider which hit the spot and was refreshing. Menus were organized well and sorted by types of beer to assist customers in deciding. I ordered the Cheeseburger (came with pickles and ketchup on it), my friend ordered the Rajun Cajun, and then we decided to split a side of parmesan garlic fries. They had run out of this seasoning but the waiter informed us super quickly and then gave us options for what we could get instead. Overall, solid experience and solid food. Usually the service is really good, the burgers excellent, the beer selection is very good. While most of the food was as good as it always is (with the exception of my kids chicken tenders being so salty he couldn't eat 1/2 of them, it was super hard for me to not be a "Karen" here (although I held my tongue for my kids sake). It's been a couple of months since we went out to eat due to restaurants being closed because of the pandemic, so getting a burger and beer from JLBeers tasted even better, if that's possible. Their burgers are so good. I typically get a burger with lettuce, tomato, and grilled onions. Everything is fresh and served hot. What I love even more is their home made potato chips. They are so crisp, salty and delicious. They have a great beer selection. I prefer stouts and they typically have several I can choose from. This visit I got one of my favs, a Left Hand Milk Stout. I haven't ventured around their menu much because I like the burger and chips so much. For COVID safety measures, servers were masked. We made reservations for easy seating. I'm not sure how I've never reviewed this place as it's easily a staple in our household. JL Beers opened back when I was in school at UND up in Grand Forks and I had been missing since I moved down to Minneapolis. After we moved to Burnsville and saw there was a JL Beers down here we went immediately as my fiance had never had. JL Beers is an excellent place to go no matter the location (in my experience) we've always had great food and great service. Do yourself a favor and get an extra side of beer cheese dip for your burgers, chicken tenders, pretzels, etc. you will not regret it! Burgers are always cooked perfectly, along with the rotation for the monthly burger it's easy to find something you'll enjoy! They obviously have a wide variety of beers on tap but what a lot of people don't know is that they have a wide variety of non-alcoholic beverages to indulge in which I greatly appreciated when I wasn't drinking! With the stay at home order in place we of course have made a point to keep ordering from here so that we can keep supporting one of our favorite local businesses. The other day we had a craving for their Cheerwine and Root Beer float, and you know what? They totally accommodated for us so that we could not only have our burgers, pretzel and cheese dip but also the two floats without the ice cream being melted before we even got home. In the past they have always been solid, but lately about 10% of the chips are soggy and undercooked. Not handicap friendly!! The chicken sandwich and beer I had were delicious. My wife enjoyed her sandwich also. Prices were reasonable. My one gripe about establishment is that it is not handicap friendly. Only one and 1/2 booths with standard sitting, the rest are all high top tables and chairs, including the bar. I ended up having to stand at a high top during our meal because of my leg brace. The waitress saw my predicament, but just said if one of the 2 booths open up we could move there. We were almost finished by the time that happened. I don't know if a wheelchair bound person would find a place to eat, especially during busy times!! read more

Service was terrible, not due to being busy. Excessive hair on burger from retaliating cook. 20+ minutes to put initial drink order in. Another 10 minutes after that to put a food order in. Server did not check back in with table of six, with all six empty drinks, for 45+ minutes. 2nd drinks were requested to cook who delivered food, since server was MIA, when 1/2 the food orders were finally delivered, resulting in a terrible customer service attitude from the delivering cook [nasty look, no verbal response]. When the remaining food orders finally reached the table there was a 1"x1" grouping of what appeared to be a pubic hair looking cluster, on top of the cheese on the "Classic Burger w/cheese", along with another long-haired hairball with 15+ 8" long hairs. In communicating this experience to other employees/staff, it was shared they did not believe it and they "stand by" their employees. Gross. Stumbled upon this place on a business trip while looking for a place to grab a bite. The food is burgers, chicken, chicken tenders, fries and pretzels. The draw for this place is the beer. They have PBR to Pale Ale and Stella to Stout. They had just released two special GOT brews to celebrate the last 6 episodes of GOT. This is the only place I've been to that offers Cheerwine for a non-alcohol option. They do have wine in a can. The American Cheese burger was good and the fries were good. They do offer flights for $11. They have a backroom you can reserve for private events that seats 47. The bartenders were very friendly and the service was good. They have quite the assortment of funny T-shirts. All of the tables are high tops except for one booth by the door. I'd stop there again for a beer, burger & sports viewing. read more

But can be kind of annoying with the fryer alarms going off too. I've been here once before and we decided to venture in on a Sunday at noon. I hate taking up a table for 4 but they have no tables for 2 up against the wall. The place was packed before noon. I ordered the Lagunitas Brown Shugga' and the JL Burger. It comes with two patties but you can order it with one patty. I was craving the grilled onions. The food came quick and hubby was willing to do splitsies so I gave him half of my burger and he had the Co. 42 burger which had BBQ seasoning and sauce and bacon, too. We shared some blue cheeses fries which come doused in buffalo sauce and crumbled blue cheese. We asked for silverware as they are a tad on the messy side. They have a lot of variety in their tap beers. And have the current list at each table marking "tapped out" on ones no longer available. Pleased with the service and food. My biggest complaint is they don't seem to be able to make fries without salt--no matter how I ask, they always come out covered in salt! Otherwise, though, it's a great place to grab a bite. I recommend their chicken tenders: there's just the right amount of seasoning and not too much breading. If you're in a hurry, try them to go! One side is an open-concept kitchen where you can see your burgers being flipped along with a bar. The other side has maybe eight or so high top tables. It's all seat yourself so we found a table in front of the kitchen. Service was great! Our waitress was very attentive and checked on us frequently. We placed our orders soon after we sat down. They came out on huge platters which made the table feel cramped even though we didn't order a lot of food. I ordered the Rajun Cajun and substituted the hamburger patty for a black bean burger. It was flavorful and the cajun gave it a nice kick... but my stomach did not agree with it. Honestly, I never eat beans unless it's mixed in with something so it was probably overload and did not bode well. I also ordered a side of the parmesan garlic-seasoned fries. A friend wanted to treat me to a Birthday dinner at her new favorite local place. I was excited to try it. My hopes sank as soon as we walked in as every table is a high top. Because I have a medical condition that affects my legs, hightops tables and chairs are impossible for me. There was one small uncomfortable booth by the door but that was already taken. I felt embarrassed and ashamed. The staff didn't care AT ALL about my obvious distress when we asked about other options for seating and made zero effort to interact with us after saying they only had hightops. We left as I tried to hide my shame and not cry and appear upbeat saying it was no big deal. But it was a horrible feeling. Surely this violates some kind of ADA standard? We've come here on more than one occasion tried almost all burgers and fry combinations, the favorite would definitely be the Classic Burger with American cheese and jalapenos with Cajun matchstick fries.
