Not the best Lucky 13 in town. Smaller with low ceilings compared to others. Host staff doesn't know how to manage a wait. Also there is no area to wait, you basically stand in the middle of the doorway. They weren't using the black notification square things when we arrived, manager came up to get control and found them using the outlets to charge their phones. We could see him almost his composure while he unplugged the phones and, handing out wait pucks to everyone in a random order. We went from about first to middle of the wait now. We ended up leaving. A very small, 1/2 a grilled cheese and a small cup of soup for over $17 and four additional dollars for a soda. The quality was fine, but the price was ridiculous for the portions. Lucky's filled up quickly for lunch so plan ahead. My friend had been here before and recommended it as a good meeting place. They do have a special of the day which is a great deal. My friend had the taco salad and enjoyed it. I had the Taco Tuesday special. For $8 you receive your choice of 2 tacos. I had the shrimp tacos with decent sized shrimp. My wife and i really liked this place. We were surprised at how good the food was and the service was excellent. Comfortable seating with a little character. You could tell what the place had been a few decades ago. i had the Louisiana Hash. They have two others, Corn Beef and Prime Rib. The Louisiana was a mishmash of a lot of stuff besides andouille sausage, which was what i was after, shrimp, chicken... that i could do without, and hollandaise sauce was canned, but it was a little spicy and all in all it was good. Something i would never make at home nor find in your average bar or restaurant. So at first i thought it would be worth the drive over from St Paul. And there's a nice little park across the street, the Sibley House, that's not obvious, but has a nice walk along the river. The reason i gave it three stars was the music. It was Loud. Early it was some stuff we kind of liked, so it was annoying, but tolerable. But when it got to some 90s punk stuff we finally had to go. We couldn't even talk. i get the original concept of loud annoying music... Friday night, Saturday night... turn the tables over and serve more food... But it was Saturday morning, and seating was may 25% or less. Why would they want turn over? Wouldn't they want people to want to come back for Saturday morning breakfast? i've always wanted to ask an owner or manager about this. i'm sincerely curious. i suppose it's like the TVs in a bar like Lucky's. All sports talk shows. Not even subtitles. Nobody ever looks up... but it's the culture we live in, in the year 2025. We stopped here with a big group for a friend's birthday. They walked us past a bunch of empty tables and seated us outside because they were "too busy" to seat us inside. It was chilly outside and the tables were kind of dirty but we made it work. It took quite a while to get service, but they did a decent job with our group of 14. It took about an hour to get everyone's drinks and orders taken. My food order was wrong when it came, but they ended up bringing me a to-go of what I actually ordered. We went there with our friends for breakfast. We didn't know they opened for breakfast on weekends. The parking was easy and there were plenty of spots. I had the apple fritter french toast. We come in about once a month & always have wonderful service at the bar! Their happy hours are a great deal if you're looking for something quick. The main menu has so many gluten free modifications, it's one my favorite places since I can eat almost anything. The prices can seem on the high side but portions are huge, we always have a second meal. They have locations all around the metro and I can easily say they're consistently good & never disappoint! Every location I've been to has a ton of parking & rarely a wait on tables. We were in for St. Patrick's day and there was open seating at the bar, but a short wait for tables during the dinner rush but that's it. read more

The service was horrible! Our waitress was rude and acted like we were an inconvenience. She would get visibly irritated when we would ask for something. She never asked us about refills on drinks, or how our food was or if we needed anything else. All the important questions you asl when you are in customer service. She also dropped a steak knife on my pregnant daughter, then acted like it was my daughter job to pick it up and hand it to her and offered no apology. No boxes were offered for the food that was worth saving so I went and got them myself. My son's burger was supposed to be Med cooked. It was pretty raw. But we didn't say anything because she was so unapproachable. My daughter's pita bread was burnt and when she asked for an unburnt pita the server rolled her eyes and again was visibly irritated. I've been to this Lucky's 13 quite a few times and find it a solid choice when you want somewhere with good drinks, and a menu that offers something for everyone. First off, the atmosphere: Warm ambience but tends to be loud. I've been here for breakfast as well as lunch and dinner. Dinner or weekends when there is a big game on it gets loud and crowded. Great way to be around people and watch a game or bring some friends or family for a meal and catch up on the week. They also have a beautiful patio outside and, even in the cold months, has beautiful lighting and a fireplace! They also offer free popcorn inside which is SO tasty and goes great with a beer!. Breakfast is nice and quiet but offers a nice menu and some tasty Bloody Mary options as well. My favorite is the BLT Bloody Mary. A little BLT with a Bloody Mary... Yummy! They also offer a Bloody Mary Flight which is fun. Their breakfast choices are terrific with everything from omelettes, Benedicts, Hashes, and great French toast options! Great place for breakfast! Their burgers are decent but my son reported yesterday when he had a Juicy Lucy that the beef should be better seasoned. We've tried many of their appetizers from their homemade L13 keg-style tots (pretty good), to their nachos, Frickles (fried pickles) and wings. They have a great menu for burgers and sandwiches, some entree style foods, and soups and salads. Everything consistently has come out hot and fresh in my experience. Finally the Service. I have consistently been impressed with the service. Very efficient but also friendly. When it's busy they work well together to run food or grab plates etc. My only area of complaint (as a shorter person) is the ratio of high-top tables to regular tables. They have SO many high tops and for people who are shorter, heavier, or older that can be a real problem. For me, I can get up into the seat, but my legs go numb pretty quick so the seating choices become a bit more limited. Lucky's is a really nice place and a great option when you want a warmer atmosphere and a menu with lots of tasty options. read more

Lucky's is exactly what you would expect from a pub, we found ourselves here as literally everything else around the mall had a half hour wait. The pub was very noisy, and had tight seating with the way the tables were arranged. Our wait was only five minutes or so, our waitress was very attentive and that was appreciated. We ordered bloody's and lunch and indulged in some of the popcorn that was available. Drinks took quite a while to receive, and when we finally did get them they were just average. I ordered the taco salad and was disappointed that the menu didn't note it came in a large tortilla as I was interested in getting an actual salad. It also didn't note there was cilantro, which unfortunately for me is something I can't enjoy as it tastes like soap, yuck! The chicken tingas was excellent and I wish I could've enjoyed more of it but there also were some things I had requested to be left off and they found themselves on my plate. Whether that was a server or kitchen error I don't know, but I do know that I wasn't able to enjoy my lunch but due to how busy they were I didn't want to bother sending it back. Instead I ate some of the wings my friends ordered which were much more appealing. Next time I'll probably suggest we drive down the street and head to JL Beers instead. read more

Went here for lunch on a Monday for the first time, so it was relatively quiet. Being on the edge of the mall, there is plenty of parking. Free popcorn is certainly a nice plus. I ordered the "Double Lunch" with a cup of Wild Rice Soup and half of a Brisket Sandwich. I was very pleasantly surprised with the food and would recommend both items. The brisket sandwich wasn't skimpy, there was plenty of meat, and the slaw and sauce on it were great. My only complaint would be that it seems like the prices are a little bit steep. Now that COVID is easing up, I've been dining out a lot more. I've been craving a fun bar/restaurant atmosphere, tasty food, and an awesome patio. Lucky's 13 has just that! We love to go to Lucky's for their amazing happy hour deals. They have $4 wine and $5 drink specials, plus cheap beer during happy hour. The nachos are delicious and they make their chips in-house! I am a Buffalo wing connoisseur and theirs are awesome. Just the right balance of spice and homemade bleu cheese dressing. I get the wings every time! I also love all of their sandwiches, like the Reuben, that you can get with a gluten free bun if you choose! My husband ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich and raved about it. They also have a great kids menu that my toddler loves. Their chicken strips are definitely high quality and a kiddo favorite in our house. We always sit outside on their patio, they have a big wood burning fireplace for chillier nights. We plan to spend at least a few evenings here this summer! read more

Mealy and mushy. I really wanted to like this place. A good friend had talked it up in chatting about a recent outing. Granted, he was mainly chatting up the appetizer he'd had, and granted, he is a major creature of habit somewhat known for having dead taste buds, but this was a dear friend, so I wanted to like his choices regardless. Sadly, I may adore the guy's values and impeccable character, but fact remains that he isn't to be trusted with food choices. My dining buddy ordered the L13 tots to share and the Spicy Mac and Cheese and a Coke for himself, apparently his habitual Lucky 13 order. The tots comprised of shredded potato, bacon, green onion, and cheese paired with a seasoned sour cream dip were decent - really, though, getting it wrong when you're working with a combination this common and popular would be downright embarrassing for a dining establishment. That said, the tots definitely lacked textural interest. The two-bite morsels were soft to point of being boring. They were tender throughout, nearly falling apart with every first bite, with virtually no crispness to balance out the experience. I would choose TGI Friday's Loaded Potatoes instead any day. Same basic combination of ingredients, done far better, whether we're talking taste, textural balance, or presentation. The Spicy Mac & Cheese of parmesan-crusted macaroni with Italian sausage, onions, peppers, and cheese sauce was hearty and filling - given his penchant for comfort foods, I can definitely understand it being his typical order. I had a bite. Nothing worth noting, though not awful. I'd have easily swapped it for a frozen mac and cheese meal without noticing. Not worth the order. And yet I still would have rather ordered that mac and cheese over my Swedish meatballs. The idea is beef and pork meatballs paired with mashed potato and gravy. I was at a loss as to what to order given the horrendous Yelp reviews, so it was a complete swing in the dark to begin with. Mealy. Mushy. Mealy, mushy meatballs. Mealy, mushy mashed potatoes. The texture of both were so wrong. The potatoes were so slop-like that they very nearly poured into the to-go box I got out in not wanting my friend to notice and feel bad about introducing me to the atrocious restaurant. Both the meatballs and mashed potatoes were oversalted and completely imbalanced in flavors to point it was impossible to avoid noticing. Halfway through my first meatball and two spoons of mashed potatoes in, my brain and taste buds were already begging to give up on the plate entirely. Had I not been with my friend, I would have. As it were, I politely chugged gulpfuls of my lemonade to get through every single quarter-bite of meatball and just as discreetly fed myself nearly-nonexistent nibbles of mashed potatoes. I found myself consciously aware of my chewing just trying to get it down and away from my taste buds as soon as possible. I got through two meatballs and nearly a dollop's worth of mashed potatoes. Way too salty, far too mushy. And it dawned on me as I continued the horrid experience: An important element was missing that would have at least masked the imbalance of the meal enough to salvage the taste of it. Swedish meatballs are not Swedish meatballs without lingonberry sauce to cut the savoriness of the meat and gravy and add a hit of sweetness and acidity. Completely nonexistent here, and given the overwhelming salt that cried for sweet and acidic notes with every choked-down bite, an entirely necessary component to even get through the plate, whereas we mainly only accent with lingonberry to accent flavor in Scandinavian cuisine. Epic fail in simple cooking skill, ability to taste, and respect to cultural dishes the menu claimed to be presenting. No, thanks. At over $50 for the tots, mac and cheese, meatballs, coke, and lemonade, hell no. I'd take $50 worth of Raising Cane's or Wendy's over this any day, and I'd most certainly take TGI Friday's $25 2 appetizers + 2 entrées + 2 desserts deal over this in a heartbeat, and that's just the chains around here. Dig into non-franchised restaurants, and there's endless amazing dining choices waiting to be explored. There's zero reason to sacrifice a single outing to substandard fare. We're not desperate. You can believe I'm choosing the spot next time we hang out, and I'm not likely to return to Lucky 13. Left a hell of a first impression, that's for sure. read more

I've been here many times over the years -- I usually love this place because the environment is awesome, the service is good and they have a pretty great kids menu for my 3 kiddos. The drinks are really good! I love the variety... BUT - the prices are really high & the food is often inconsistent with quality. I usually really enjoy getting the French onion soup with the chop salad but the past couple times the soup has been really bad. My kids love the giant pretzels! And the tater tots are amazing - but again, expensive for only getting 3 in a side order. I like this spot - but the prices & consistency in food is my only drawback. But I'll be back :) read more

I've been to Luckys twice the past two weeks and enjoyed a good sized and great tasting walleye beer battered sandwich. My wife and I went again earlier today and of course I had to go with the walleye sandwich again. I'm sorry to say what a disappointment. The filet wasn't beer battered and was about 2/3rds the size of the ones I had previously. Then the 3 onion rings I got were burnt beyond crispy. Our server was great and was very understanding when I sent the dinner back without touching it. My wife finished her meal (starter walleye tacos), I decided not to order anything else, and our check arrived. I have to admit I was further disappointed in being billed a service charge and $4 each for an iced tea and club soda. I asked for the manager. She added to my disappointment by saying she was sorry and would let the kitchen manager know. Huh? Maybe I'm alone but I would have thought she would have tried to make things right by offering some type of discount (similar to what one would get with a coupon). She didn't and it was clear she didn't have any intention in doing so. Sorry for the rant but while I won't be going back again I would suggest if you decide to be sure to ask what size portion you can expect; even if you've had the same item several times and all were delicious... if not you might experience the same UnLucky's time I did. read more

If you want metal shavings and foreign objects in your kids breakfast. This is where you wanna go. This food is horrible. The server was great he was very helpful and understanding. Almost ever meal you got was sent back, cooked wrong or soggy chips and potatoes. Then we find metal in my grandmothers potatoes. If you want metal and foreign objects in your food then your going to the right spot. The manager only comped the grandmothers meal and wouldn't help out with anything else. Like what if my grandmother ate the piece of metal and got stuck in her throat? This is ridiculous she acted like she didn't care at all and was getting upset because a lot of plates got sent back because the food wasn't cooked right and food was gross. I have never been to a place that I have to inspect every bite of my food to make sure I am not going to choke on foreign objects and potentially inject fatal material. I would highly suggest going somewhere else. If you want metal in your food and bad customer service this is your spot. read more

We have tried this place on 3 separate occasions over the course of many years but this one was the tipping point and earned itself zero stars(if possible). Came in at 5pm not busy got seated in a few min, decent start. Then came the dirty waiter that did his very best to show that he didn't want to be there. Asked for suggestions, got none. Asked for drinks for kids, 'not sure'. So we said give us a minute and he came back in 10. Hahaha. Ordered for for myself, wife and kiddo. They apparently 'don't have sides' so we had to order an additional meal to get something the kid wanted. Again not busy....took them 25min. Food looked like they tossed it in the frier and forgot that only the food comes out and not the oil. French dip was 6/10 but for $18 and the worse onion rings I've even had I'd pass based on how my stomach is feeling. Wife got a side of pickle chips but apparently they forgot to empty the frier as it come came with some random bits of FISH and cheese curds. If I must say one decent thing the fries were okay but the portion size was less then a handful and for $8 you might as well stay home. We never got drinks just water and in fashion not refills. At the very end the waiter apparently just felt so some other poor girl has to deal with his BS. It's been a while since I've done a bad review but this one was in desperate need to spare others from a horrible night out. To top it off they add an additional 5% (boldly pointing out it was NOT grituity) which means they would rather take extra money vs just paying their staff and just marking up the already overly priced food. I'm not sure if it's because we are younger looking but we LOVE to tip people. We work very hard and enjoy sharing it with those that even put forth the slightest bit of effort but I can say, with confidence and you will be doing yourself a favor, in particular your bowels, by skipping the over priced oily food.... Of course unless you enjoy dealers choice frier baskets meals with random bits of fish that will make you go to sams club for the bulk toilet paper. We've been going to Lucky 13 for many years. We won't be back anytime soon due to the cockroach that crawled across the bar and onto another patrons arm. We noticed right after we finished eating. We drew the roach to the attention of the manager, he was either not concerned or really didn't care. He took the food off our bill (which we had said was not necessary). His last comment was he will call for spraying, no apologies and he was not overly polite. We weren't yelling nor rude just thought they should know there was a problem. Because that's obviously disgusting. Aside from the roach it started as a great experience with a bartender we like that's awesome and friendly. Her shift ended and we got a bartender that has continually been not good. Ordering food and drinks was difficult as she spent most of the afternoon socializing with her coworkers.
