Let me start by saying that I have no knowledge of hearing and air condition units, so when mine went out I was terrified. First my heating unit went out a 4 years ago (JLC air replaced it then) and at the time I was told I would need to replace the air conditioning unit, but could wait. I had consulted with 2 other air conditioning repair companies in the area before JLC's consult. One said I needed to replace the entire system for either $5,800 new or when I asked if there was a cheaper alternative $2,365 reburbished. The other said it could be repaired for $539 or replace the system for $7,400. Then JLC came in and said it was just the thermostat and the technician even replaced it temporarily until he could permanently repair it for $185. I appreciate JLC's integrity and willingness to actually figure out what the problem was without trying to get me to spend more money on unnecessary repairs or replacements. So thankful I found them. We are so grateful for JLC. I just got out of the hospital, it's 112 out and our AC dies. First, they are answering the phone at 9:00pm! The person on the phone was courteous and helpful and provided the best news - they would be out in the morning! In the middle of a heat wave that was fantastic news. They showed up on time and Michael, the technician, did a great job diagnosing the problem and explaining the repair options. Within 45 minutes we had cold air blowing in to the house! I can't recommend JLC highly enough. Great customer service, solid technicians and quality work make this company a sure bet for any HVAC needs you might have. Two final notes - They have coupons on their website which they actually honored and I saw their integrity when we asked them to check for a potential problem with our ducting. Most companies would see this as an opportunity to gouge a customer, not JLC. They got up in the attic, checked out the whole duct system and found no problem. They were able to come out and fix my air conditioner the same day which I am grateful for. They were two men who we're very nice and polite. They even checked my air filter inside and replaced it. I felt the repair was overpriced but what place isn't I guess. I you tubed the repair and it was a $20 part but the whole repair cost $200. Have to say after calling around and speaking with several companies. JLC is by far one of the best. I spoke to Jackie, told her my issue. Seeing it was Saturday (month July) they were booked. To my surprise she called me back and stated she could have a tech come out earlier than i had scheduled, boy was I happy. Less than an hour went by and Tech showed up he diagnosis problem and now my family is sitting in a cool air-conditioned house again. The technician (Jonathan) was extremely knowledgeable and checked the system thoroughly. In his inspection, I was happily informed should I change out my outside unit that requires (R-22) the new unit will be compatible with my unit inside, but the lines will first need to be exhaust/ flushed. This was great news because in 2020 units that use R-22 will be completely phased out. The chemical (R-22) commercially known as freon is expected to go up/sky-rocket in price. Thank you, JCL, for-getting my unit up and running, next week SoCal is expecting to experience a heat wave. Happy first time user. Oh, forgot mention I got a military discount, thank you. read more

Earlier this week, one of my AC units started making an unusual noise, which I assumed meant that it was on a downward spiral to eventual failure. I called JLC from a refrigerator magnet they gave me at the home and garden show in Lancaster this past spring. In less than 2 hours they had a truck at my house, diagnosed the problem as a fan motor with failing bearings and provided a quote for parts, labor and a 1 year warranty. They retrieved the parts, installed them and cleaned and serviced the unit, including a freon pressure (level?) check - all for the quoted price. While they were there, I had my second AC serviced and they only charged for the service. Since they were already on site, I was not charged for a "service call" (which I would have gladly paid). In today's society, it is difficult for any company to live up to our inflated expectations. I was pleasantly surprised that JLC not only met, but exceeded my expectations. They did not inflate their price and they did not try to sell me things I did not need. They replaced both my filters at no extra charge (I had the filters). JLC was great from the quote process to the install. Fair pricing, and courteous installers. They wore booties over their shoes when they first came in the house. During the install they put plastic over the carpet to protect it. They vacuumed and cleaned up before they left. I would definitely reccomend them. I am speechless. This place is the best!!!! I am so grateful to them. I punctured my compressor pipe while hanging a towel bar. (I was given a quote by another place of $1500. This other company wanted to do all this expensive stuff.) I came to yelp for a second opinion and picked JLC Air and two others and sent an urgent message. JLC Air's Owner called me back in 10 minutes on a holiday in the late evening and offered to come the very next day. They told me it could be repaired and it wouldn't cost a small fraction of the other quote. They could have lied but they didn't at every opportunity they were honest. Cliff showed up and went to work on the problem. He We out of his way to get to it so it could be done cheaply. It wasn't easy for him. After making a small mess I found him cleaning it up as the compressor was being vacuumed. I told him to break out the hole in the wall as big as he wanted for his convenience. But he refused and worked with a very small opening to do the least amount of damage. When all was said and done $230 was even cheaper than the quote. When I told him the original quote was higher he could have changed it. But instead he said nope this is the price it is. I am speechless. Not to mention really impressed. It's so refreshing to find such an honest company who does quality work at a more than fair price. I am so very grateful. What he didn't know was I'm a single parent on a fixed income and had very little to pay for this. I am so so grateful for their honesty and great work. Pricing was very fair for the cost of bi-annual commercial maintenance. However, they felt the need to charge our company for a service call fee when a repair was needed even though we had a service contract. They also did not completely reattach a portion of sheet metal on one of our AC units during it's biannual service, wouldn't you know the wind ended up tearing the panel right off and making a giant mess for me to deal with. We emailed JLC Sunday evening and they responded Sunday evening and scheduled an appointment for Monday. Our central air conditioner stopped putting out cool air when outside temps are 100 degrees. JLC called me Monday to reschedule for Tuesday which was okay, I'm glad they called instead of just not showing up. The person was very nice and we rescheduled for Tuesday. Tuesday morning Michael showed up and fixed our air conditioner. He was on time and very professional. He was also very nice and even helped my wife take out some trash. We just had a new central AC installed at our home yesterday. They called me the day before to give me a better idea of when they'd arrive. Steve showed up with 4 of his guys right at 9. They covered everything in plastic to protect it. I thought they'd be working until 3 so I went to the bank and had lunch with my kids at around 12. When I got back at 1, they were done and the air was already on. My house was cleaned up when we got back. Steve gave me the warranty info and showed me how everything worked before he left. I received several quotes from different companies in the antelope valley before we chose JLC. One company that came out for a quote wouldn't even give me a price or explain anything to me because my husband wasn't home. He insisted on coming back when my husband was home, so obviously I didn't choose that sexist company. (I'm perfectly competent and capable, thank you very much.) Another company gave me a quote lower than JLC for the same unit and install, but they seemed desperate and the technician that came out for the quote didn't seem very knowledgable. He was nice but pretty much told me that it's just an odd job he works during their busy season. He also told me I could run my ac and swamp cooler at the same time. HAHAHA. You don't need to be an hvac specialist to know that would be counterproductive. Ultimately, we chose JLC because Steve explained everything to me when he came out for the quote, answered all of my questions, seemed like an honest, respectable man and offered a fair price. Great bunch of folks. Did a great job repairing my ancient heat pump until it finally died due to shorted power lines. Put in a new high efficiency heat pump that is much cheaper to run, has been consistently saving me over $100.00 a month on my electric bill over same months last year, and my house has never been more comfortable. I am completely amazed by JLC!!! I called them today for a second opinion after Pennies told me my whole AC unit needed to be replaced for $5500.00! I actually cried after hearing that. The cost....$175.00! The tech from Pennies was totally trying to scam me with a $5500.00 bill. JLC fixed my AC in 20 minutes for a low low cost of $175.00. 8/8/16 - Update to my review. We had Them out to service our AC that went out before we left for vacation and had to wait 2 days for an appointment. It was a blown fuse and they checked the machine and were on their way. We got a call while on vacation less than two weeks later that our AC was out again. We returned to triple digits, miserable animals, and yet again broken AC. We called and had to wait another 2 days for a service call, another blown fuse and they were on their way again. This time two days after the service tech was out so was our AC. This was Saturday and instead of sending someone out that day or Sunday we were told to hold out and we would be the first call Monday. We turned every fan on and bought some new ones, opened all the windows and picked up Popsicles to get through the weekend. Well we waited until the afternoon Monday and then I called to find out where the tech was only to find out we hadn't even been put in the system. That was the last straw and I called another company who came out and fixed the AC in under 2 hours instead of days. I know I said I'd be a customer for life but after being treated this way and not getting our AC fixed properly we will not be using this company again. Sorry but when you've spent the money we have and the time we have in the heat there is no excuse. Found them here on Yelp when our AC went out. They set up a service call for the next morning. They arrived promptly and were extremely professional and got our unit working fast. It's great to have honest companies out there when so many would sell you something you don't need. I'm in San Diego and my elderly father's air conditioner in his Lancaster home went belly up. One company that he had look at it diagnosed a $6,000 replacement job, far above anyone's budget. After a Yelp search, I found JLC Air. I called the morning of Friday, July 3. The repairman was out by 4 p.m. The air conditioning was running by 5 p.m. The bill was below modest. Things are not perfect as the compressor is on borrowed time. But when that day comes, JLC quoted a replacement job at less than half the previous estimate. So are we happy? Well, when my Dad called the next morning to say "thank you" over and over for making his house livable again, I guess the answer is a resounding "yes." I got the credit from him, since I found the firm and paid the bill. But the real credit goes to JLC. So thank you JLC. read more

I initially requested a service call at my home. Our upstairs air conditioning unit was not at peak performance. I had called these folks a couple of months ago based on their Yelp reviews, even though they are in Lancaster and I needed work in Encino. They were very responsive, called back right away, gave me a good quote, set the appointment and actually showed up early. They did a great job with a very fair price.
