In my case, they arranged the finance lease for a couple of labeling machines for my business. You need to be aware of the "fine print" in their lease agreement so that you lease in not automatically renewed at lease-end, and you find yourself paying for more than you bargained for. In my situation, I had a lease-end buyout of ONE DOLLAR on two labeling machines. Shame on me, I didn't read the fine print that stated that I hhad to provide them with written notice prior to the lease's end date, that I wanted to buy the equipment for ONE DOLLAR, otherwise the lease would automatically RENEW FOR ONE YEAR. So, what would have cost me $2.00 to buy the two labeling machines, was now going to cost me over $12,000.00. American Packaging Capital, Inc., did negotiate with me, so that it cost me over $4000.00, but obviously there's a BIG difference between $4000.00 and $2.00! I have leased numerous pieces of equipment during my 30 years in business and had never run across a lease with a buyout, that required this notice on my part. The company told me that often times companies don't want to buy out their lease and want to continue paying on their lease. OK, I guess that might be true in some very unique situations; but in my case, I purposely set up leases with a ONE DOLLAR buy out for a reason, and it was a really rude awakening that this leasing company was going to hold my feet to the fire and charge me several thousands of dollars more than I was anticipating. It is my personal opinion that American Packaging Capital, Inc., uses the fine print to their financial advantage and it is a very deceptive practice, at best. I do no recommend using them for any of their leasing services.
