Very small shop, attached to an auto repair. Excellent repair technician. Told Milton about my problem with a home receiver. Brought it to the shop, and it was hard to get a hold of him. Finally, after fourth day, I spoke and met with him. He understood my problem pretty well, but was unable to order parts for my older unit. It was still partly working, but he was honest with me in that it would probably be better to replace. Very sharp and helpful guy, and even refused to accept any payment. Would highly recommend to anyone with auto or home sound equipment. Trust him without question! Will return when I need some other repair or custom. read more

After Best Buy jerked me around with their "so-called" "free" install after buying a head unit, I was frustrated with looking for an installer. Drove past this place a few times in my travels, so decided to give them a call. That's when Milton answered the call! Called on Thursday, set it up for Saturday. Was there early and found out, although it's a little hole in the wall place, and a single man operation, Milton rocked it!!! He said the install of a head unit, back-up cam, and USB port in the dash would be 4 hours. It was done on time! Martin installed a XM Radio in my car about a year ago. He had to get a bit creative because my car just wasn't set up for it at all and SiriusXM had provided the radio. This year when it seemed to not be working, I assumed I had bumped a wire (all hidden but I was sure I had tugged on something inadvertently). I had my car at the dealer for some service and had decided to have the XM radio removed ans to just go back to the original factory installed FM radio. The dealer insisted it would take several hours of labor and that the dashboard HAD TO Come out - I considered it until they told me it would be $400! I knew the dash hadn't come out to install the add on, so I left the dealer and returned to J&M. Martin eliminated a lose wire as a cause and as it turned out, I had made a change to my iPhone that had caused the media function on my car not to work. No charge. He really knows his stuff and just like last year, he was quick and honest. He tightened up the wire I had nudged, and all was fixed. Fantastic service and price. I had to replace the factory stereo in a 2003 Nissan Altima and I just called and he recommended a compatible JVC stereo with the features I requested. He quoted me $230 which would include the stereo and installation. I made an appointment for the next day and brought my car in, about 90 minutes later he was done. It looked and sounded great, and he showed me how to sync to Bluetooth. Service was quick, honest and friendly. Best part is that the bill actually came out to only $220, a rarity that the actual is cheaper than the quote. Also, a local competitor quoted me $280 for the same service. Fantastic. After researching reviews of many places, this one sounded like the best option and very close to where I live. I didn't make an appointment, I just stopped in yesterday to see if I could get my CD player unstuck on my 2006 Ford Focus the I purchased last year. 2 weeks after I got the car, the CD player jammed. The receptionist was very sweet and polite. Milton recommended that I purchased a new unit since it would take considerable time to try to fix mine. I have been to this place a couple times over the years, and I highly recommend them. The man that runs it is really talented, but he's pretty much a one man band so you have to be a bit patient about returned calls, etc. He did a repair to my car stereo in a vintage car a few years back, and it's still fine. Most recently I brought in components from a mini stereo 'bookshelf unit' and the cd player and tape deck were both broken. I had tried the more well known local stereo repair place and they said throw it out. Not here! He fixed them both, though I did have to go back. I don't really mind, the cost was quite reasonable, and they are both working just fine--not taking up space in a landfill. I think this place is a hidden gem and urge us locals to support it. read more

I've been to J&M twice (technically three times), the first time (two times) to remove a blown speaker from my car to send back to the manufacturer and reinstall the replacement, and most recently to install a sub amp. Their workmanship is outstanding, their labor price is very reasonable, they seem competent in discussing car audio systems, and they did exactly what I asked them to do, no more no less. I plan to come back for any future work I need done on my car audio system. Please note that I have no experience buying parts or equipment from J&M. This review pertains only to service. read more

Not really what I was expecting. J & M Electronics locates in fort Washington replaces me stereo for 75$ for my f350 then I tell my son to take my other f350 to J&M locates in Alexandria. It cost 175$!! Just to replace a stereo that I already had laying around in perfect condition. I do not recommend coming to this place instead take the long run and go to fort Washington it's cheaper and better service. read more

Not a bad little shop. The staff wasnt overly welcoming but I would atribute rhat to the language barrier. Went in early for an amp install and the got started right away. It took a bit longer than they quoted and there was an issue with a fuse that blew, causing the transmission to lock in park. In the end, they made it right. I would reccomend this shop for small jobs. read more
