I too have been coming here for years. Candido is a true professional. He really knows his stuff. I usually defer to him on how to frame something & it always looks incredible. I've even taken things to get re-framed at JMC b/c Candido is that good. His prices are absolutely reasonable too. (I've been price-gouged on framing in NYC before!) I moved out of the neighborhood but I continue to go to JMC. (I get a lot of stuff framed!) I have a place in Jersey now and I insist on bringing all the artwork to JMC to get framed. The gentleman who runs this place (Candido, I believe, based on other reviews) is a real professional. I've come here at least four separate times to get various items framed -- a poster some original drawings I purchased, a comic book, a print -- and every time they come back looking absolutely stunning. Sometimes I come in with an idea of what sort of frame I'd like, but Candido is also great about helping to show what will look good for the individual item, drawing out subtle colors within the piece. He's got a good eye, so I recommend heeding his advice (obviously you've got to go with your own gut and taste, but listen to him when he says something clashes! -- he knows his stuff). The service here isn't the cheapest in town, I'm sure, but I only bring items here that I really want to look sharp on my walls -- Amazon frames and mattes don't look anywhere close to this good. JMC's work is an art in itself, and it enhances the pieces that I will be cherishing for a long time to come. I have gone to other framers before and gotten sloppy work back...frames with scuffs or corners askew. You will NOT get that here. Highly recommend JMC and Candido! read more

Somehow it seems like you can't throw a rock in midtown without hitting a framing shop, and by sheer convenience I chose this one as my friend lives right next door. Turned out to be a great choice, because Candido was a dear and everything was simple as could be. I just needed a mat, so he showed me the (many) colors available, we discussed measurements, and swish-swish, voila! He also cut the inner borders a fraction larger so I'd be able to center and see all the details of the document I was matting, which was a tiny detail I wouldn't have thought of but showed he's always on top of what he's doing. I also picked up a photo album since they were well-priced, and think this is a great place to go to help make your art/documents look pretty and professional. read more

This little slice of heaven wouldn't take the groupon (I waited to purchase it just in case), BUT they charged me ~$115 w/tax. The owner was awesome, and my five stars will stand if I pick up the painting on Saturday and it's in good shape. A quick google search generated a living social deal. The owner is great, absolute Prince of a man. Together we decided on the perfect combination of frames and matting. Given my ability to prefer the most expensive option, every time without fail, he helped me achieve the best look while selecting some less expensive options. Buyer Beware- When I came to pick up my order, they told me it would be an additional 10% to my order because it was Groupon and that they should have only done it in 10+ business days instead of the time of the order. This is completely unacceptable to hold my framing hostage while they decide to change the price to whatever they feel like and ignore the original invoice amount. read more

I needed a print framed and I saw a living social deal for JMC Custom Framing so I decided to take the plunge. I had an idea of what I wanted, but after speaking to Candido, we refined the order and after going over a few options I decided on an ornate frame, with 2 inch matt, and a fillet between the print and the matt and museum glass. The difference between the regular UV glass and Museum glass was night and day. I had checked out some other places before, and the turn around of most places was around 2 weeks. I dropped my print off at JMC on Thursday Lunch time, and I picked up the completed frame on Saturday! The print looks amazing and I will definitely come back to JMC in the future if I have anything else to frame. read more

That says it all but I still have to add that Candido spent more than two hours with me as I kept changing my mind to buy 5 frames. He kept bringing me new frames after I rejected them, patiently listening to my exact requirements although I myself didnt know clearly what I was looking for. Nothing looked right for my prints - this one was too dull, that one didnt have enough gold, that one was too narrow and this one the design wasn't nice. And he was listening! Because once he understood he came up with the perfect solution by combining two frames and that was it! It looked perfect and when I went to pick them up today as soon as I saw them I was thrilled beyond expectation! So stunning do they look that I salute Candido!
