Raw steak and cold baked potato

Not much of a complainer, but this was bad. First, the steak was raw and mostly fat -- for $40. The meal came with two sides; I ordered a baked potato and fried green beans, but the potato was ice cold and the green beans never showed up. I ended up sending the steak back and having it taken off the tab (at least they actually tried to do something about it). If you're going to offer steak on the menu, at least cook it properly.

    Good humor & 100% agree!

Great view over the marsh & waterview of boats coming up to dock. They offer inside (high top & low) & outside seating. Seafood is mostly all fried except the seafood platters. Really good selection of sides (fried zucchini sticks, green beans with bacon, & fried okra). We order the mushroom stuffed crab, that the hubby loved! We split the seafood broil & had plenty to share (good portion). Kinda pricey for mostly fired seafood. Good selection on tap as well

No plates were taken during the meal experience.

** Worst service we've had in a long time** ** We won't be back ** - told 30 minute wait; actual wait 50 minutes. - 10 minutes before server came to the table - 15 minutes to get our cocktails. They sat at the bar for 10 minutes. Our server, Jennifer then tried to deliver them to the wrong table. - waited 30 minutes for our food. My wife's sides came out without the stuffed crab. She finished them before the crabs finally came out. - Jennifer never checked on us. Needed refills and malt vinegar. - watched other tables' guests wait and wait and wait for their food too. - Not one person took any of our finished plates - Had to get up and go inside to get our check. Couldn't find Jennifer. ***2 stars for the view and food quality*** It was our first and last time eating here. We are local and won't be back.

Platter of two: grilled shrimp, fried clams, fried green beans.

Nice ambience. The rustic indoor dining area is spacious and clean. They also have outdoor seating on the dock overlooking the intracoastal waters. The staff is friendly and we adored our server who was attentive and quick! We started with delicious crispy fried pickles. I ordered the Platter of Two: fried shrimp, fried clams, and a side of fried green beans. Perfect, crunchy crust with tender, juicy seafood. It's very filling and satisfying. Also ordered a side salad that was fresh and crisp. My husband really enjoyed his Fried Shrimp Sandwich. Same crispy crust with tender, succulent shrimp. Don't pass on this jewel of a restaurant!

The service was good here, however, we just did not love the food or the atmosphere. The dining area felt like a brightly lit pool hall. We started with stuffed mushrooms. They were good, small but tasty. Our dinners - fried clams with onion rings, over fried, the clams were chewy, did not taste fresh at all. The Caesar salad was ok, the blackened shrimp were plentiful. We ended with a key lime pie which was actually good, not too sweet.

    So peaceful and relaxing

The food is delicious and the wait staff are great at what they do. They have indoor or outdoor seating and the view is spectacular. You won't be disappointed

Blackened scallops, broccoli and zucchini fries.

If I had to choose one thing restaurant to eat at for the rest of my life, it'd be JMs on the Water. Their blackened scallops are unmatched. Every time I order scallops at a restaurant, these from JMs are the standard to which I compare. They are so dog gone delicious. We ate here as a party of 6 and we all had nothing but great things to say about the food, service, and the view of the sound. Also two lemon drop martinis will absolutely get you where you need to be. Counting down the days until we can come back!

It's more like a bar with food. Nothing was great, all Fried, service was sub par and the ambiance is again, like a bar and dirty.

For appetizers we got the crab dip and the calamari. I loved the calamari, the crab dip was good but we definitely needed just a few more chips. They bring out bread which is nice as well. For my main I got the salmon, it was delicious! I did the Tuscan garlic butter on top which I really liked. My sides of vegetables and a baked potato were good as well. Our server was so sweet, we loved her. Unfortunately we're giving a 4/5 because we asked the hostess if she could move us to an open table out of the direct sunlight and she states she would check and be right back. Well, we never saw her again. The table was open for a while before another party was sat so I assume she just didn't want to move us. Overall, we still had a great dinner and would come back again to try other food options as we enjoyed what we got. Definitely try this place out!

The interior feels like a spacious, cozy dining room. There is patio seating, and the views are stunning, overlooking the beach area and pier. STAFF Kate/Kat? was our server and she was super attentive and friendly. She checked on us frequently and truly made our first dining experience memorable. FOOD I ordered the Crab Cake sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. It was delicious! As mentioned on the menu, NO Filler, and they really meant that! The crab cake was seasoned and well-balanced. The tartar sauce was a great complement, tasting fresh and homemade. I only ate half my bun along with all the lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. The sweet potato fries were waffle-shaped and crispy. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their food and we had a few leftovers, which was taken in a to go box. All-around, good vibes, good service, good company and good views.

This restaurant by far has been…read morethe most consistent in the quality of the food, which is the best of all the restaurants in the topsail area. It is not fine dining and has the sports bar vibe. It is a relatively small place and I recommend going on non peak hours in season. If you are into oysters, they have a great selection of both local and regional on the half shell. If you prefer cooked, chargrilled or steamed is a good choice. While the menu has a great selection of seafood, the chalkboard specials features extremely fresh local catches which change daily. While there are several restaurants in and around the topsail area this is the only one where I have never been disappointed. If you go at peak hours during the vacation season expect to wait but it is worth it. You can't miss with any of the steamed shellfish offerings and if you prefer fried there batter is light and not overpowering. As a sports bar, they have a large selection of tap and bottled beers and a good mixology of liquor options which is only outdone in my opinion by Rick's in Sneads Ferry

I could've asked the price upfront (and usually do) but what the heck... we're on vacation. The server suggested we get a "double" and share it. OK. Sounds good. It came out quick. There was a TON of food for two of us. Shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn. It didn't have a lot of seasoning also on it, but - no problem - there was a rack with every hot sauce you'd ever need, plus salt, pepper and old bay. We both ate our fill and even left a few potatoes. The bill comes and it's less than $40. It might be the cheapest great meal I've had in a long time. Or maybe it's the "greatest cheap meal" I've had in a long time... I don't know. Bar ambiance, but pleasant enough for families. Mostly high tables. It all seemed very nice.

The bartender finally took our food order about 20 minutes later. The two drinks were over $25, despite us not ordering top-shelf and getting very little alcohol in either one. When we were asked if we wanted another round, I declined and asked for water instead. Another 30 minutes went by with no food and, more importantly, still no water. We eventually asked the hostess if we could sit at one of the three empty tables. We then waited another 15 minutes for our appetizer and approximately 20 more minutes for our meal. We finished eating and still hadn't been checked on. We never received the water I had requested. I eventually had to get up and go to the bar myself to get it. The bartender then brought us the check, and I mentioned that I was still waiting for the water. By this point, we were extremely frustrated. Not once during our meal did anyone check on us. The only time someone came back to the table was to take payment and clear the dishes--we were already finished and didn't need anything by then. We ended up spending 1 hour and 55 minutes there for two people sharing an appetizer and a steam pot. That's a ridiculous amount of time for that amount of food, especially considering how much of that time was spent waiting for someone to take our order, bring water, bring our food, or simply check on us. The food was good, but the service was some of the worst we've experienced. We place a huge value on good service, and when you can't even get a glass of water or have someone check on you during your entire meal, it really takes away from the experience. Great food doesn't make up for nearly two hours of waiting and virtually no service.

When you walk in, it doesn't exactly scream "fish market" - as it took me a few minutes to even find the fish. The staff there that day (one person) was friendly, but when asked for suggestions of what was good "everything." The owner of the bar (of the same name) next door came by to hard sell his place. He wasn't wearing a mask, and I tried to interject that I wouldn't be coming by because my kid is too young to eat out around people - but he really didn't catch on. Sigh. I went on to get the shrimp and the red snapper. I paused trying to do the math on how much. The friendly bar owner then insisted I wasn't getting enough for "that many people" - and I should double it. I don't exactly know why I listened to him (I think I was just ready to go) - so I bought what he said. After a rather hefty bill. Getting home, I pulled out the fish and it was 2x what I needed. Sure enough, we had left overs. I don't know if you've ever microwaved left over red snapper - I don't recommend it. So - the interloper from next door brought down the score, but the shrimp was so good I can't imagine going less than 4 stars.
