The girl who works there with red hair (I think her name is Kristy) is the most welcoming and friendly person ever. Usually someone says welcome to the store and it feels like something they're just required to say and it means nothing.. but this particular girl made me feel like she was actually happy to have me in the store and anxious to help me. What a great feeling to ACTUALLY feel welcomed to a store. Every business needs an employee like her.. it makes me never want to shop anywhere else. Great employee.. She is the perfect example of what every business should be doing The store itself is great.. but I just want to say thanks to the red headed girl in this store who renews my hope that there are actually some people who care about their jobs and doing it the best way they can. I went in with the intention of buying a sale they had on an item. Went in and no sale signs to be seen. Asked a manager and they looked into it. Said the sale was cancelled in store but she would honor it for me in the store. This was my first time in this location and I am very pleased. Alexis was fantastic and Amanda was great as well. read more

Edit: after a few phone calls back and forth they actually got the order cancelled. I had a terrible experience here. I placed a buy online pick up in store order in the morning and it still wasn't complete almost 6 hours later, just for a few things. Most retailers strive for 2 hours or less. So I went to the store to just get the items since I couldn't wait any longer (I live an hour away and was done with all other errands) and asked them to cancel the order while I was in the store. The assistant manager was called over and gave me the rudest 10-second death stare when I explained my cancellation request and then she proceeded to cancel my order, or so she said. Except she didn't. So now I've paid for the items twice. I called to get the issue sorted out and they tried to assure me that my order was cancelled but I never received a cancellation email and my card is still showing the charge. Also, the store was a mess. A merchandiser's worst nightmare. Definitely won't go back there. read more

Last week I went to Joann's to price black out material. I saw an upholstery material that I liked too for something else and I asked for a one inch by one inch sample of that upholstery material to see if it matched my home decor. The sales woman said she didn't know if she could cut a piece and she talked to the manager who said no so I left without a sample and that was fine. Today I went to back to Joann's to buy the black out material. You see I had skin cancer a while ago and in the Las Cruces apartment I have here my chair is near a window where there is uv rays coming through the glass so black out material is needed for me so I won't come down with skin cancer again. You might want to know why I didn't buy the black out material when I was there the week before. I didn't know the exact dimensions I needed at that time. At any rate, when I spoke with the sales woman when I was pricing the black out cloth for my window last week and I asked her if she could make a clean cut both horizontally and vertically. She said she would do that for me and she said she would be there today which was why I waited a week to go back to Joann's. So I went today and she was not there and another sales woman said she didn't know if she could do a clean cut both horizontally and vertically. She went up to the same manager who said she remembered me asking for a sample of material the week before and again she said no this time for making straight cuts. I have been going to Joann's in other cities (Santa Monica, Santa Clarita, Sacramento, and Las Vegas, NV) for years and I have never had anyone not give a sample or not make a straight cut on material. The managers here in Las Cruces said her name is Rebecca (at least that's the name she gave me). I have more to say about my experience with Rebecca, while there's good selection of fabric the manager is arrogant and willful; she's not a good manager or even an employee in my opinion. She's not likeable, she's closed minded, she seems to control everything and everybody, she doesn't provide an atmosphere of trust and certainly doesn't inspire her sales people to go out of the way to help customers, she intimidates her employees and the customers. She makes people so wound up that there's no joy in shopping at Joann's. She's not a good manager and when I left I called her an asshole and that's just what I think of her. They lost two sales at this time. One is the black out material and the other is the upholstery material. This in itself is about $400.00. They lost other business from me too.
