I appreciate the variety of products, but their check-out process definitely needs work. I was one of the unfortunate customers (of which there were 20!) who had to wait in line while the ONE associate worked diligently to work through the back-up. This is not the first time I've experienced this lack of staffing at JoAnn's, which is why I haven't been to this store in about 3 years. There are never enough people helping customers. Forget it if you go on a weekday to avoid the crowded check-out line. It's horrible! Hobby lobby spoiled me so coming here is always a less than amazing experience compared to the glorious hobby lobby establishments that are not in Tampa area yet. As an avid DIYer, I go to Jo-Ann's quite often and while the store is HUGE with lots of items to choose from, the checkout line is always ridiculously long. Also, they really need more associates because when I need help, I have to go searching. I also feel like their associates aren't that friendly either. They have "Walmart worker" personalities to me where they will walk straight pass you and your confused looking face without offering assistance. There are many things here for the crafter-but it is a little overpriced. Some of the ribbon they sell you can find elsewhere for $1-2 cheaper...same exact ribbon and brand. I just find it interesting how they decide to jack the pricing up because they are specific to the craft supply. Location is central but a pain because it is in the same plaza as the very busy Publix so if you are entering form Gornto or from behind the strip mall itself, you will more than likely be waiting for a few. I LOVE this store !!! This place is a crafters dream. And looking at the number of people in and out of this store, I am not alone in that thought. They have a fantastic paper crafter section (my hangout) and one of the largest fabric departments I have ever seen. Great kids crafts, beading, yarns, silk flowers and art supplies. The store is very well maintained and very orderly, not stuff thrown all over the place. They are constantly having sales on stuff, which sometimes makes it hard to use a coupon. Speaking of coupons, download their app on your phone and you'll have coupons with you all the time, And while your at it, download Michaels app because they will honor those coupons too,, and all on the same order,, it's awesome! Staff is great, friendly and helpful. I've had to ask a couple times about yarn and they've always gone to check on it for me without a sneer. I'm a sewing professional in the area, so coming here is a necessary evil. This is the closest location, so I am here quite often. It is usually a dreaded experience that is carefully timed based on the time of day and the time of year. There seems to be a problem with efficiency at the cutting table. In high season, I have waited up to an hour to get fabric cut. They are nice enough, but there is no sense of urgency or awareness. The store keeps reorganizing, and it's to the point that it's hard to find things. Where's the glue? Where's the paint? Why are the rhinestones discontinued? The store seems to be short staffed. Always a line to check out, and usually moving pretty slow. Doesn't help when the other customers don't have their coupons ready. read more

This place is awesome. They have the most adult and advanced coloring book selection in the county. I wish I had found it sooner, after months of looking for a place that stocked a variety of coloring books I finally stopped in and was blown away by the wall full of what I was looking for. Other places in the area have 3 or 4 books to choose from this place had over 50. Everyone that works there was super friendly. In my amateur semi professional opinion this place is the tip of the spear, king under the mountain, the coloring book capital. Very long lines, so half the time I end up putting back my basket and all the things I wanted to purchase. The women's bathroom is always very messy and dirty. The positive about Joannes, is the selection of hobby items and fabric. Their sewing department "Viking" has a great group of ladies and I know I can trust their advice. I'm pretty sure it's under new ownership, maybe even a corporate store. The framing department does amazing work, I've had a few magazine pages framed and they came out looking awesome. The advice given for the frame was perfect, and my husband loved it. One thing I've learned about Joannes is to shop with their coupons and look out for their sales especially on patterns for sewing. The best time to shop is one hour before they open, because Joannes actually is open one hour before the time that is posted. If you need fabric cut this is the best time to go. read more

This store is a dream compared the the Joann's in Lakeland. They have a large selection of almost anything and everything crafty, artsy and creative. The staff seem nice, although my experience with the staff is limited to the check-out line. I am updating my review because for the last year or so, I can't go into the store without it being an ordeal. The line is almost always halfway through the store with minimal cashiers working. I can't justify standing in line for 15-20 minutes on a Tuesday afternoon. I used to assume that the line was a product if holidays or weekends but it doesn't seem to matter when I go in. Found a specialty item (cat eyes for a crochet project) that my girlfriend and I couldn't find anywhere else. Wish I could select negative 5 stars, no one in the jewlery department could tell me if they still carried a certain type of earring posts, when I finally found someone who works there the girl said they never carried them.they did ive bought them before. I dont know why you have to stand in line to get fabric cut then stand in another line to pay . wish they had a register at the fabric counter. If your lucky there might be 2 cashiers open. I totally love this store! It has amazing fabric and a good selection of scrapbooking items to choose from! They also usually have a good selection and sales on Cricut items (my personal fav). However with that being said the ladies at the fabric counter, i have yet to meet a nice one. They are usually rude and short regardless of how nice I am. I have never been treated so rudely before at a store. I had pulled my number and waited to have my fabric cut and raven at the cut counter completely stopped helping me to help some random person in the store. I don't understand why she could not have pulled a number and waited her turn, or why raven cld not have explained I have a long line of people who have pulled numbers. She shld have asked the lady to pull a number and she would be happy to help her as soon as her number is called. Why was her craft so much more important than the ones waiting in line. Decent fabric selection. Aisles are a mess with carts of boxes in the way. Not one sales associate asked me if I needed assistance...at all When I asked for help, before I got my question out, she made sure I knew she only worked in the sewing machine department. When I finally found fabric I liked, after 30 mins of no help and maneuvering around tall box carts, I went to the counter. The desk person said there wasn't enough and shrugged her shoulders like she didn't GAF and offered no solution. I had to ask for her to look it up to see if I could find more. She sighed like I was asking her to forego her smoke break instead of earning the store a couple hundred bucks in sales that I was about to give them. I placed a special order for a large quantity of fabric, pre-paid, and was told it should arrive in 2 weeks or so. They would call me when it came in. That time came and went so I called and was assured that if they didn't call me, it wasn't there. They wouldn't check on it. Called a second time as 4 weeks approached. I was told the same thing - twice - but I insisted they check. They transferred me until the third person said they would check and be right back. I waited on hold over 20 minutes and was disconnected. I called again last week and the rep took my name and number and assured me someone would check and call me with an update. Still no response. I called today and demanded to speak with a manager. He looked for my order while I waited. He came back and said they have it. It came in 3 days after I ordered it - almost 6 weeks ago - and had a note on it saying they called me. No way. I had been waiting on this order! I don't receive a lot of calls, so I double checked my missed call log as well as old messages. Nothing there. They never bothered to call and failed to follow up on it until I got the store manager involved. I am leaving right now to pick up my fabric and will never return. The customer service, or lack thereof, is appalling and if I have to pay a little more to shop at a place that treats its customers better, it's well worth it to me. read more

If there was another fabric store near me I would definitely go there. Every time I go to this Jo-Ann Fabrics I am so stressed out by the time I leave. I ALWAYS have to wait in line to get fabric cut. And I ALWAYS have to wait in line to check out. There can be 15 people in line and only two cashiers. With people fumbling with their coupons and whatever, it makes the waiting in line even more exasperating. They need more employees at the cutting station and the cashiers. read more

Spent 40 minutes in line at the fabric counter for ONE YARD of fabric. THEN, spent another 20 MINUTES in line at the cashier for ONE YARD of Fabric. Quite ridiculous. There are never any employees available to help you. There is always at least a 20 minute wait at the cashier and always at least that at the fabric counter. I Love Jo-Ann's but management needs to staff the store to their sales. It is insane. If you don't know exactly the item that you are looking for, good luck finding it or finding someone to help you. read more
