While gone, Joann will always be remembered. It was the start of my sewing era but the end for Joann. I started getting into sewing and we all know Joann is *THE SPOT* (or was) for all things fabric and crafting. Hoping that one day, it all changes and we all have a spot where we can go for our next sewing project. Pros: + Parking, I've never had an issue with finding a spot. + The staff are nice and knowledgable. You can get carried away talking about a project and I like that sense of a community in the crafting world. + You could feel and stretch the fabric in-person. + Huge selection of fabrics and yarn. Cons: + No working bathroom. + Floors were dirty and looked like they hadn't been mopped in months or years. + Prices were marked up and more expensive than Wal-Mart and Amazon. I didn't know that at first so I was jipped on some things but, I got some good deals during the closing sale. + Selling things that weren't really craft-related. read more

This place has a lot of arts and crafts supplies and their house brand is pretty good quality and more reasonably priced. We especially like their own brand of yarn with good colors and material/texture. We don't usually buy fabric, but they have a ton of fabric and of every color, pattern, material, etc you can think of. Service was ok, the cashier was friendly, but there is something missing at Joann's, a kind of energy that's not here like at other stores. I personally prefer Michael's. Overall, this Joann's is a good arts and crafts store and we enjoy shopping here. Too bad this one might close like so many of the other Joann's. read more

This Joann's is clean and usually organized when I go in. Unfortunately they are often out of stock of items. I also think the online order process needs to be fixed - might be more of a corporate fix but sometimes I will order an item which they mark out of stock. But I'll go in and look for a substitute item and the exact one I wanted will be in stock. If you place more than one order for pickup you need to let them know you have multiple because sometimes they only come out with one - usually the guy working cashier (might be the manager) will bring them out correctly though! There is one employee that doesn't have great customer service and I don't think is quite fit for a retail job. She always looks frantic, stressed, and irritated when checking people out at the registers, and especially when delivering curbside pickup. One thing I've noticed is that they seem short staffed or aren't utilizing employees well at the cash registers. However, they have always honored coupons and let me use my rewards / coupons to save money. The younger employees have always been kind and helpful! read more

Loved this JOANN! I came by to check out some of the fabric they had in stock as I just moved up here. Their selection is still as vast as it was before the pandemic in other locations. The employees are super helpful and responsive! Very organized selection as well! I had a few questions about coupons and they were very helpful with even providing me the coupon as well! This is a hard one to review because I'm not sure if the business is actually in business or not. Half the shelves are empty and when you walk in it looks like you have just walked into a going out of business sale. Not one employee said a word to us until we walked up to have our fabric cut. The employee who cut the fabric was amazing, she really was a nice person. And... the fabric was 50% off, again is this a going out of business sale? Who knows but that's a good deal... three yards of fabric for $10 not bad. I would probably shop there again if I needed fabric and it was 50% off like this time, but if I need anything else I'll go to Michael's or Hobby Lobby because they don't have anything else in stock. read more

I usually just come in to get what I need, regardless of how this store may look....but I decided to try out the online services to save time. While my first experience turned out ok-my second did not go so well. Please get your online/pick up services together-if an alternate person is listed for pick up-please acknowledge the name listed. I had an alternate person pick up my order and that caused an inconvenience to them. They had to provide the order number, when they were listed to pick up the order? I understand, if an ID needs to be checked, but this does not speed up the service we are trying to get. What is the use of having an online service ? read more

To start with a positive, the two regular employees I met were sweet. The manager however, what a very angry individual! He belittled a coworker who made an honest mistake on pricing, then told another one loudly to pick up the pace. It was hard to watch right at the busy holiday checkout line. This is a nice store to come to, not just for fabrics. They have a sector for jewelry making. There's an isle of puzzles. They have toys here too, such as dolls and kinetic sand. There is also a teacher's section towards the back in the middle isle. They have sales here a lot, which is the best time to get fabric. Went in on 10/30, day before Halloween, to find some foam style material to "stuff" or rather... be able to use in a hat to make it more sizable. When we asked a staffer for assistance, or even which aisle I could find "foam"..... he stared at us blankly while muttering to check near the fabric. Uhhhh...... ok? not helpful. Spent the next 10 mins walking thru the store trying to find what was wanted for a costume, but came away with nothing. Acknowledging that the employee may not understand what we're asking for, but at least have an idea of what your store stocks (product wise) and a general idea of where to direct me to look. We went to the Elk Grove store on Bond Road to get some advice on a malfunctioning sewing machine that we purchased two days earlier. It stopped working earlier this afternoon after only one hour of use. As soon as we walked in with the machine, the cashier instantly said that they do not accept returns on sewing machines. She didn't ask how she could help us, she automatically assumed that we wanted a refund. We explained that we were there to have someone help us troubleshoot and identify why the sewing machine stopped working. She called for the manager, David. Very rude and condescending man. He told us that we would have to send the machine back because this was a warranty issue. He compared it to buying a car - that if we had an issue with the car, we would have to contact the manufacturer. I told him that he was wrong - if anyone bought a car from a dealer and there was a problem with it, any commonsense individual would go back to the dealer, NOT the manufacturer. It was supposedly company return policy - in his opinion. There was no return policy printed on our receipt nor nearby the cash register area. In fact, the sign on the wall showed, "Hassle free returns - with receipt". We showed him our receipt but still he refused to help us. He then mentioned that they have nobody who could help us troubleshoot the sewing machine because they don't have sewing classes anymore and he knew nothing about the machines. When we asked for an exchange, this so-called manager, David, had the nerve to say, "If you can't get this machine to work, what makes you think you could get another one work?" What kind of customer service is that? What retail store manager insults their customers? We told him that we need the machine, and we don't have time to send it back to the manufacturer because the project needed to be completed by Sunday. He finally told us that he would accept the return, so then we were able to purchase another one. However, he said that if there was a problem with the new machine, it would be considered a warranty issue, and he would not help us. To make matters worse, as I was standing by the cage where sewing machines were locked up, I asked for help to get a new machine, but nobody could find the key! Finally, someone took the initiative to get another sewing machine from the stock room. The store looked like it was going out of business. Empty shelves and disheveled piles of merchandise everywhere. The staff wasn't helpful at all. Terrible customer service. Store manager, David, you need to take management and communication classes to better understand and service your customers. Very unprofessional staff and management. I was at the store two days before Halloween. I had planned to run into Spirit for a last minute costume for work and the line was along the building. I regrouped and remembered I had an old costume at home but just needed a belt. Sweet, Joanns was right next door, I could pull out my crafty side and just make a simple one. I dashed in and grabbed some faux leather and brought it up to be cut. When asked how many yards, I said I was unsure and had asked their suggestion. They gave me a dirty look and snidely said, "I have no idea I've never made a belt." Ok... PAUSE, you work at a fabric store! This question should not be a stretch of your capabilities. If someone asked me a question in my career field that I did not have direct experience with I may not have a perfect answer but I could relate the question to my past experiences and come up with an answer. I get it, it was Halloween time, I imagine this is your Super bowl season, you're likely the busiest your store ever gets but maybe next time reach into the depths of your skill set and help provide some guidance. That being said, I gave the store a pass. I even came back today for another project and once again was dumbfounded at the lack of customer service which is why I am sharing my original experience. Really disappointed in the lack of customer service I received from a young woman working in the fabric counter last night. She was white, with short chin length hair. I was in search of a sewing machine. The website said the store had three and when I asked her about it she treated me like I was wasting her time. She didn't offer to look elsewhere. Did not offer to show me other options. I felt so bothered that I went to speak to another employee, a young man with black and blond hair and said he'd been there for 4 years. He offered to check around the store and back stock. He found one that was a return but we decided it might be best not to purchase because it has no box and might be defective. I ended up going to Michaels and paying a little more for a sewing machine. My advice, don't spend your money where your not valued. read more

One of my favorite hobbies is to craft. Mainly paper crafting with my cricut. Joann's is my go to place for last minute items when I don't have time to wait for my amazon packages. Some employees are really nice and helpful however some are night, such as the manager. She comes off with an aggressive personality but she is very knowledgeable and knows the ins and outs of this store. But one time I overheard her saying she refuses to give the cricut brand another dime of her own money because it's a rip off. She proceeded to tell an employee of hers that she refuses to let anyone know where she purchases her items if she doesn't support cricut. I've witnessed this type of behavior a few instances because I come here so often but it doesn't phase me. Joann's has a lot of great deals! They are currently doing a buy ONE get TWO free deal with select items right now till Sunday. I purchased some ribbon to make graduation leis for this years upcoming graduations. After the 50% Michaels competitors coupon and the 20% entire purchase from my Joann's app, all of my items came out to be less than $1. Use those resources people!! read more

False Advertising / Price Different on Shelf and Register A few months ago I went to get Aida cloth for a cross stitch project. Was supposed to be about 8$ per roll, at the register it was 12$. I didn't think anything of it at the time, assuming the items had been put on the wrong hanger by a customer or something. When I came back later I looked and no, the price advertised for those specific products was several dollars cheaper than what was rung up at the register. Found this annoying but brushed it off. A few days ago I returned for more cross stitch supplies and specifically checked the prices on the items and the shelf. At the register the cloth and another item rung up higher than what was advertised. I told the cashier, who sort of shrugged it off and called a manager. I met the manager IN THE AISLE where these items where and pointed out that hey, these items were priced one thing on the shelf, but ringing up higher at the register. I also mentioned that it had happened before with items from this section. Manager also seemed to shrug it off. No offer to fix the higher price I was charged or anything. Unfortunately I had to return for more thread (the one thing in this aisle that seems to ring up correctly) and noticed that the prices were not changed to reflect the register price. I highly doubt that the register price was *lowered* to reflect the shelf price. Isn't this illegal, false advertising? read more

The store is clean, neat and easy to find crafts in all aisles. They even still have some final Christmas items left. This place have all the arts and crafts that you'll need for any occasions. I was especially pleased recently when I went to shop for acrylic paints and canvases, when I found that the store had a special on art canvas. Ten 8" x 10" canvases for $14.99! What a cool place to go to. They got fabrics, craft supplies and more. I can stay in Jo-Ann's for hours and hours. Currently the newest project is with fabrics. The workers there didn't gripe at all about cutting us some swatches. They also had some good machines to buy and some were on sale. They also got a section of patterns to look through. I especially love the beads section as I am a lover for SEMI PRECIOUS stones. A lot of variety of stuff. I will definitely return again. read more

While Joann's has a great assortment - you really have to watch your charges CAREFULLY. I don't live near this particular store, but was in the area and looking for something specific. I had a coupon for 30% off, and bought several items. The cashier was busy talking on the phone while she rang me up - I should have known she wasn't paying attention to me! Although she said she gave me the 30% off, she did NOT, and I didn't catch it until I had already left the store. They will not fix the over-charge over the phone, even if I text or email them a copy of the receipt. So I have to drive over an hour round trip to fix THEIR error? A bit annoyed. Customer service is dead! At least at this store... Weird store too - a lot of empty shelves? Totally empty? Then all the wreaths are so high up on the wall you can't even see them - why not move them down and use up some of that empty shelf space? read more

I purchased over $700 of items online all in which i applied a 50% off coupon, which they advertised. When picking up items at store i was informed all my orders was cancelled, baffled because i didn't receive not ONE courtesy notice of this VIA ANY METHOD OF COMMUNICATION plus the money was out of my bank account . I showed Gregg the assistant manager at the time my receipts, my coupons, he FAILED to honor what the store advertised. In front of all his employees he shown that JOANN was not willing to accept accountability for the glitch in their system; poor customer service and integrity.... i was informed the money in my account was on hold and it will take 3-5 business days to return; in the meantime I requested the items to be on hold while in store until the money is available. 50% off coupon has since expired; a new 40% off coupon arrives and guess what?? SAME GLITCH and still the JOANN store in Elk GROVE has still declined to honor whats online, dissatisfaction is an understatement. Especially when they promote "we will match best advertised prices" but the irony Folks they wont even match their own prices online! I do like shopping at this store, because it has variety: arts and craft supplies, holiday merchandise, decorating ideas, and of course, anything and everything that you will need for the aspiring seamstress! The store is large and spacious. So you could get lost here browsing the aisles. But once you enter, allot yourself plenty of time. It gets pretty busy at times, so getting assistance may be a long trek to find help! Holidays are the most difficult times to deal with. There are long lines and people with short patience (like myself). During the last Halloween season, we were shopping for some extra touches to our costumes. But when we took one look at the lines for getting fabrics measured and cut, we ended up putting our items back and leaving for other horizons. However, I must give credit to them, having this store available when you need it, is a big plus! read more

This store has no humanity. They have adjusted hours for COVID, posted as noon to 4:30pm. Seeing this I show up at 4pm and was turned away because apparently they stop letting people in at 4pm sharp. No exceptions. If that was the rule the signage indicate it, or display a close time of 3:30. People are still showing up past 4pm because they think they have a chance of picking up the supplies they need. Communication is important and this store has completely failed. The girl at the door also needs extra customer service training. The attitude she possessed when turning people away was one of arrogance, no compassion found. read more
