The store is well organized, and the prices are reasonable if you're shopping their sales and taking advantage of their coupons and discounts. On this trip, I was only using a $5 reward, of which I used on a string of lights for home decor. Parking has been stressful lately. Although there are plenty of spaces, there are many stores that share the spaces, so it can be difficult sometimes. Bring your patience. read more

I needed some items for a costume party including things to help make the costumes and favors. I'm not typically what you could call a super-crafty person but I came to this location and I was able to find some of the things I needed. I don't usually come to places like this to walk around and shop; I find it much more efficient to order what I need online but I needed too many small items to make that worth my while. I was distracted by all the cute, creative, sparkly items they have so if you are as easily distracted and impulsive as I am, you might want to bring someone with you to help keep you on track and to spare your pocketbook. The store is very clean and pretty-well organized. The employees were friendly and helpful. I also thought the prices were pretty reasonable. I ended up getting multiple different yards of material that are already cute and folded. It was very convenient. They also had a variety of embellishments I was able to buy and some snacks I don't typically see as well. That being said, it was difficult not to come home with a bunch of knick-knacks and other items I didn't really need. My daughter and I used to enjoy going to Michael's with all the different projects and things to do. Prices have increased dramatically and customer service has decreased dramatically More automation does not make better service, customer service declines at this point. Used to be a fast check out, but they went to the self check out and there's no one around to ask questions to with the issues. Don't think I will return in person to the store but may order online. The Michaels in Laguna Creek is one of the busiest Michaels in the Sacramento area. I think this is one of the reasons some items are hard to find in this store. I have shopped at many Michaels in the area. When I shop in the other Michaels, I can take my time and enjoy checking out the items they are carrying. But when I'm shopping in this store. I want to walk in, get what I want, pay for the things that I need, and get out of the store as soon as I can. This store is a little too crowded for me most of the time! The parking lot is enormous. However, it is shared with Target and many stores in one of the busiest shopping centers in Elk Grove. Parking is a little harder to find, especially at the weekend or on a weekday evening! This store had far more of a selection of items especially Christmas (which I was loving) than my normal store in Brentwood/Antioch. We were visiting a friend up here and I needed to get a few baking items for my cookie business and needed to kill some time before my friend was home. Great selection and I felt this store was easier to navigate but seemed a little smaller than my store. First thing is more cashiers are needed. There was a HUGE line when we went and it looped around the isles of practically the whole store. That's the only downfall more than likely the time of year possibly. But then again most Michaels typically only ever have 1 or 2 cashiers ever working. Second they wouldn't let us use a 60% off a single item and the military 15% discount on entire transaction which I am always able to do. We had bought more than 1 item. I could see if it we only bought 1 item because you can't use 2 coupons on a single item. So employees here need to be trained a little more. I'm ok with it because it was only going to save me like 70 cents. But it's the principle. read more

I had ordered 31 candles for pick up because they wouldn't let me enter the store due to quarantine. When I had arrived they wouldn't let me go out with them to check my order and they literally threw it into my trunk! They didn't even put it in bags or wrap it! This is my store to go to when i am in the area. . This place is usually busy during the holidays. Especially during Christmas sales. It can be like a zoo in here with long lines. The lines go fast tho. . This store is a little bit more smaller than others. But i don't find inventory problems for myself. It can be crowded especially when people walk around with carts in the small aisles. . Usually a quick stop for me to go and grab whatever art supplies i need. Ordered a simple item for curbside pickup. Got the notification quickly, which was good, so I arrived and used the app to indicate I arrived. 20 minutes later, nothing. No one even came out to check on the order I was waiting for. So I go in, and the store is not busy, which would have been an excuse. The cashier doesn't even look up at me. I find someone to ask, and she is able to help me right away, walking over to the bins for the curbside pickup. She was nice and friendly, but someone fell asleep at the wheel with the curbside part, so I will likely not come back here, as it is out of my way. read more

I've had items framed here in years past. They've never been cheap, but they did pretty nice work. This time, I came in and got the most unhelpful employee ever. He acted like I was putting him out by making him end whatever phone call he was on. When he came out from the back, I showed him an example of what I wanted to do. Instead of trying to learn more about what I wanted, all he talked about was what they couldn't do. When I asked for an estimate of something they could do, he said there was no way to even give me a ballpark figure. He couldn't have look more disinterested. Please read the buyers beware section I love all the products they have to offer. They have so many wonderful things in store and online. They even offer same day delivery. A little bit of a hefty price but understandable. BUYERS BEWARE!!! If you order online and you pick up in-store or curbside make sure you keep that piece of paper!! It's your receipt. I have tried several times to return items with using my phone number or card. The system has a hard time finding it. It's such a headache. If they can't find it they will give you merchandise credit with the lowest price for the last x amt of days. If you have the receipt (the paper they give you) and you return it make sure they return it to your card. The system defaults to merchandise credit. Please pay attention. This has happened to me several times because I do have some gift cards that I did use and I thought I used it with that purchase. I could've gotten my money back. They need to fix their system. I've been a regular at Michael's for 15+ years. Among other items, I always bought poster frames there instead of at Walmart because of the higher quality, until now. Michael's new stock of Trendsetter frames use cheap thin cardboard backing, just like the Walmart frames, instead of pressed board. I uploaded photos of the comparison - same brand, same size frame, old stock on the left, new on the right. Not only are the new ones using cheap cardboard, the black plastic edges are thinner now too, much less durable, just like the Walmart frames. Holding one in each hand, there's a huge difference in weight. If Michael's new frames going forward are the cheap Walmart type, which is even worse than Target's frames, and can't compete with Walmart or Target's prices... Hopefully Michael's can point this out to their supplier and reverse course before customers learn to buy elsewhere. read more

I always love this place I bought this wooden box that had room to add photos on all four sides. It also swivels round so you can spin it. Very cool!. I also bought some acrylic paint that was 5 bottles for $2.00. Great deal. So I took home the materials and made a birthday gift for my brother. Ill post the photo. But it was so cute! Im also a photographer and I took photos of my brother's dogs. Printed the photos and placed them into the photo box. My bro`s favorite color is gray. It goes with his home decor. I used to come here to shop quite a bit, but not much these days. This store is filled with lots of fantastic little goodies. One could wander the store and let your imagination roll!! Lol. They have everything from holiday decors, baking stuff, picture frames/framing, beads, wedding decor and so on. They used to have more hobby spray paint, but not as much these days. They also have it all locked up, too. It's a law thing...I guess. It's very inconvenient. The spray cans are the smaller size and are the same price as the standard size that you can find at Home Depot. ( Which is where I ended up going and it's not locked up ) This store does have coupons that helps! You can bring the coupns in from mailers or show the coupons from your smart phone which is awesome!! Their shopping aisles seem to be narrow. It was hard to walk by someone without getting run over by someone not watching where they are walking. Overall, this store is full of great finds. Bonus for sale items and coupons. Minus a star for tight shopping aisles. Minus one more for hard to find locked items. I still like the all the unique stuff. They have nice cashiers, too. This review comes a few months late but I had amazing service from an employee named Rhiannon. Sorry if I misspelled it, It she has bright red hair and a heart of gold. I ordered over 100 journals online at Michaels.com for a ladies retreat and noticed they went on sale after the fact. In order to get a refund I had to return all of them and rebuy them. The hard part was That she has to scan the items 100 times and key in the original Price I paid to return and 100 times to repurchase. She did this with the patience of an angel. Horrible location and rude staff.. went in there to purchase some items because I have a coupon code after spending time and waiting in the check out line I provided the cashier my coupon she looked at it and said we couldn't use it because the coupon code could not be used until After 3pm and it was 2pm laughed and said " oh well do you still want the items" after being embarrassed I proceeded to pay and upon giving me my receipt which had another coupon she said" oh that's expired and you can't use it mybad" and laughed again. Feelin' a little artsy-fartsy... Most people go to one of two places when they get their crafting urge, either here (Michael's) or Joann's. So as a 50-50 situation would go, I fall right into this situation, I'm not too picky, so I go wherever I have a coupon for. Good thing for me, Michael's is always giving away 40% coupons, but the items must be full price. Lucky for me, most of their merch is always discounted...but sometimes the coupon is a much better deal. Also, they are always touting that their personalized framing is between 55-60% off, but I think that's their way of justifying their pricing, because it's always this discounted. This location is as basic as a craft land can bed. Rows and rows of different type of crafting - scrapbooking, jewelry making, painting, kids crafts, fake flowers, frames, wedding section, yarn isles...literally, they have everything to keep you busy for hours. They tend to staff on the smaller side, so if they all aren't up at the cash register, it can be a little hard to locate a staff member for help. But pretty much, if it isn't on the floor, then it's out of stock. Their damn dollar bins get me every time. They conveniently put them very close to the registers, so I always peruse them...
