To deal with this pandemic I started to make masks for family & friends. Though not proficient in sewing, I was determined to learn. I found myself frequenting Joanns, shopping for fabrics & learning which fabrics to use. A few months back they were running out of fabrics. But now they have great selections. They constantly have sales at 30 to 50% off. At times they offer add'l discounts on total purchase. The best time to shop is Wednesday to Sunday when select fabrics are discounted. When I first started shopping , the discounts were so confusing so I got the app on my phone. All I'd do is have them scan the bar code on my app to get the best deal. The staff was helpful. Making masks was my way of coping with this pandemic. I wanted to keep my family & friends safe. Having made over 100 masks, I would not have been able to make them without Joanns. I have been here before and it is always the same....not enough help! In the fabric center one ALWAYS have to wait because they have one , maybe two workers with 5/6 windows for workers. Measuring and cutting fabric takes time...you need more help! Pay your employees more and I believe you will get them! The check out up front needs more cashiers...see the theme here! I feel sorry for them because people are standing and waiting but what can they do?!? Your on line coupons are almost impossible to figure out so hence I can't use. Is anyone else make a online purchase at Joann.com? I have placed an order for 12 items on Nov 20 and I still have not received my products, they have charged my credit card. Best part, there is NO ONE to call, bogus 800 numbers, a charlatan at their best ((also called a swindler or mountebank) is a person practicing quackery or a similar confidence trick in order to obtain money, power, fame, or other advantages through pretense or deception.)) Love the selection of yarn here, and the great clearance prices they have on some of the expensive yarn. Yesterday I purchased 14 skeins of Lion Brand for only $2.23 each, and I went again today to purchase the remaining 17 skeins. Awesome price, right? Employees are helpful and all smiles. So why only two stars? The manager here is a major bitch. She had an attitude and was snarky both days. I really wanted to tell her she was being an uncalled for bitch, but I kept quiet. I was in need of some pallet wood for an upcoming class and didn't want to risk shipping not arriving in time. So I ordered online for pickup in store. I was emailed the next day when my order was ready for pickup and also had received a better coupon in my inbox- yay! Once I arrived- you just get in the checkout line (instructions are in the email)- the line moved steadily and the cashier was happy to help me get the better discount. We had to complete the original transaction and then go back and refund and re-ring. Yes, I am a pain int he butt- but she was great and very patient with me! Yay! Joann's has changed so much over the years and it hasn't been on the positive side, at least for those of us looking for good fabric and sewing items. They have filled the store with so much "stuff" that it almost feels like the fabric is an after thought. They have also changed their checkout process and it is always a hassle to pay for your items. You are cattled into a narrow long line very seldom have more than two registers open even if the line is long waiting to pay. They have recently started carrying a new line of "premium" fabrics that cost from $12.99 on up per yard. It is a bit nicer but doesn't seem to be as nice as some you can find at local quilt shops. They do carry other craft items for yarn work, scrapbooking, flower crafts, etc. But they also are carrying a lot of items that make no sense. I don't go to Joann's to buy a skillet and yet they have them. I wish Joann's would listen to their customers and go back to more fabric, more classes, and get rid of the non craft and fabric items. read more

I haven't been to a Jo-Ann's in ages, so I was shocked and surprised to find out that it is no longer just fabrics. It's basically an arts & craft store, heavy on fabrics and sewing notions. You can really waste a lot of time just wandering around and browsing at all the different things they have. I was here early on Saturday afternoon and it was packed. I had to wait 20 minutes for the cutting table and another 10 at the check out register. I cannot complain though, because contrary to what you'd think, the workers (exhausted and almost dead on their feet) were happy and pleasant and extremely efficient making a frustrating experience a happy one. Go to their website and sign up for texts for coupons. I did, while waiting, and saved 20% off. They can scan coupons from your smart phone, eliminating paper waste. read more

While they have a LOT of beautiful fabric, waiting for forty minutes to have it cut is annoying.... I appreciate the ticket system, but I always seem to get stuck behind the person with a loaded buggy of fabric. Maybe if they had more than one person cutting....or if one of the three associates that I have seen wandering aimlessly around could help.... The store itself is great. 9/10 I am able to find what I'm looking for and, if I can't, the employees are more than helpful at helping me find what I'm looking for. HOWEVER, the store is so ridiculously warm. We are in Florida. It is 87° (feels like 97° - according to The Weather Channel). I should be able to walk into a store and feel a cool change from outside to inside. But apparently they (the chain, not the store) thinks it's okay to have a separate company control the AC... AND THEN have another state (Ohio) be the one to determine what that temperature should be. This is not okay! Not just from a customer standpoint. The employees are not able to leave like the customers are. It is absolutely ridiculous that they have to work in that environment. I'm an artist and I'm always buying art supplies. This JOANN's is pretty nice. First of all it's HUGE and pretty much has anything you could ask for related to fabrics and sewing. I've never been to a class but they have a cute place setup for the classroom area. My only issue with this spot is when it comes to checking out. There is usually a wait but 3 or 4 employees will be walking around nearby and even come up to the register, do something and then leave-when at least 3 or 4 customers are waiting in line. If you are looking for a new hobby....try one of Joann's fun classes! I took a class here on quilting quarters with a group of my girlfriends...and what fun we had! The teacher was great for all levels of students, and had the patience of a saint! The staff was friendly and helpful in finding the needed items for class, giving many other options when asked. Things that were taught in class: helpful hints on setting up machine, how to load a bobbin, how to use rotary cutters, proper placement of the mat, and angles that make the quilt. The teacher went over the directions, step by step, and then went around the class and helped the ones that needed help. Always offering a compliment to each of the students! My only complaint with the class is that we all made these cute quilt quarters....but did nothing with them! I wish we could have incorporated them into a project together. This was a great beginning class to peak your interest and grow....as you can always take more classes! read more

Terrible customer service. The workers here are extremely rude & very unprofessional, not only to me, but other customers. One man asked for help on an item & the manager said "I think it's over there (pointed) but if you don't see it we don't sell it." Ive bought the item multiple times so I led him in the correct direction. When I checked out, the first coupon I used wasn't working. The cashier rudely pointed out how the coupon wasn't working after I waited wondering what was going on. Hot as fuck, no air flow whatsoever. Workers are super rude for no reason. They really don't help you at all. Dang! It's been years since I have been into a Joann Fabrics... and I don't remember it being so.... uh... AWESOME!!! (Thank you to Colleen for the heads up on this place!) I walked in and was floored by how much selection, of everything, there was! Any kind of crafting supplies you might need are here: ribbons, fabric, cute little baskets, fake flowers, jewelry making stuff, cake decorating stuff... you get it. A ton of crafty goodness. But it's not so packed that you can't easily maneuver the aisles around other folks. I signed up for the coupons to come my way, but word has it, they accept competitor coupons as well.. which is awesome for this gal on a tight party budget. The cashier that checked me out and the girl cutting my fabric both did their best to find discounts or coupons for me to use and were great with their customer service. Years ago I loved Joann Fabrics. However they are now "Joann Fabric and Crafts". Emphasis on Crafts. Thats okay but I am a seamstress more than a crafter so I miss the old Joann stores that had a much larger selection of higher quality fabrics. I came to this location to take a quilting class with a group of girlfriends. We had a blast. They had loaner sewing machines, irons and ironing boards, rotary cutters & mats available for those who did not bring their own. Ha, nobody brought their own iron or ironing board. Imagine if they did... but I digress. Anyway, the class was fine. We all learned something. Since the instructors are taught to teach the class rather than being experts at what they are teaching there was some confusion at times. Our teacher was very nice and very patient. She was not an expert but she did know her curriculum well. I would like to see Joann Fabric return to their roots. They were once a 5 star store, in my opinion, but now they are just an A-OK 3, not 5 worthy. Perhaps, if corporate decides to sell less junk, toys and candy and return to selling more good quality fabric, then I will add a star or 2. The class was fun tho. Check out a class or two. However, there were other employees wandering around to check prices for someone who was getting a LOT of fabric cut, but who apparently was unable to cut fabric. The customer service here is really bad. If you don't wait forever in the cutting line, then you wait forever in the check-out line. I haven't done any sewing for literally years. I was very excited about a project for my new house and couldn't wait to get to JoAnn's. I went to look for someone to assist me with finding the amount and type of material needed for my project. A very skinny Woman of Color with a name that begins with D, was apparently the person at the fabric cutting counter responsible for waiting on customers. She had absolutely NO desire to help anyone. (I don't think it was just me she didn't want to assist.) I approached her with enthusiasm for my drapery project, asking for some ideas and suggestions. (This a really BIG deal as I'm incorporating family heirloom panels into my new drapes.) I started by asking her advice on color she thought I should focus on .......... I don't think that is an unreasonable request. She said, "Fabric is placed all over and through the fabric section. I have no idea what color you want or what material to use. You need to look for yourself." I then asked her to help me figure amount of material because I knew the measurements but didn't have the know how. She ignored me!!!! After that experience I walked up and down the aisles figuring I'd have to be on my own. After about 15 minutes and being totally lost on next step to take, I left defeated, angry, and very sad. I don't know if I'll finish this project, but I do know I won't be going back there. So disappointed. read more

Worst customer service ever! I called and asked if I could make a return at this store even when I purchased at another one and explained my entire situation and the store manager said yes. Went to the store and the same lady helped me she huffed that she had to go through it and rolled her eyes every second. I told her what happened and she didn't even listen she kept asking me the same questions. Finally she didn't ring it up correctly and "couldn't process the transaction" and told me I had to go to the town center which is 40 mins away! Which is an hour away from my home. So I went to the town center and spent 2 mins in the store and it was resolved. Will not be coming to this store ever again. I'll drive the distance for customer service. read more

I am giving 5 stars all due to one person really. Her name is Roy, she works in the fabric cutting area. She has been extremely helpful to me thru out my getting reacquainted with sewing. She helped me pick the correct material, which was not easy for her, I guess you could say I am a little bit picky. I had to go back, to have a refresher course in how to get the bobbin in my machine to thread properly. She once again, came thru and saved the day. Your store is lucky to have such a person, good with the public, always has a smile, and knows her stuff. So my hats off to Roy, she gets an A from me in customer satisfaction.
